You know, my dad said at the end of a rainbow, you find a pot of gold.

What would you even do with a pot of gold anyway?

If I had a pot of gold, I would...

I would buy the whole of Apple Tree House

and make it my palace.

Everyone could still live here.

They would be part of my royal family.

I would plant lots more apple trees,

so we would have an apple tree forest,

which would be so much fun to play in.

Remember, trees are great for the environment.

Then I'd build a super tall ladder for Sam and Mali to paint

a permanent rainbow in the sky, cos they are so pretty.

Yeah. What would you do, Mali?

I would buy all my friends a present,

-even though it's not their birthday.

-Wow!

I would knock on their door and leave a massive wrapped-up present

with a card, so they'd know it's from me, of course.

You would be like Santa's little helpers.

But imagine this. It would be presents all year round.

And then we'd build a massive slide

from the top of the building to the bottom,

so that we'd never have to walk down all the stairs.

That sounds wonderful, so I have to keep looking.

Well, I don't want to be a party pooper,

but the old pot of gold at the end of the rainbow

is a bit of a myth, and there are a lot of myths about rainbows.

A myth? What's a myth?

A myth is an old story that some people believe to be true.

Is that like the story you told me about the magic fish that can fly?

Um, no. There are flying fish.

They are a real thing, something that we can prove exists.

We can't be sure that a myth is true or just a made-up story.

Like the time you told your grandad could fit 23 marshmallows

in his mouth at once?

Sadly, that was also true, and not a pretty sight.

Myths are often passed down from adults to children,

and from children to their children,

stories that people don't want to ever forget.

And whether the myth is true or not,

they can help us work out how to live.

What other stories about rainbows are there, Kobi?

My old dad used to tell me in Ghana,

if you see a rainbow,

then you make a wish and it will bring you good luck.

Can we make up our own myths?

Yeah, sure you can!

OK, every time you see a rainbow at Apple Tree House,

you have to give someone a high-five,

otherwise the rainbow will never return.

A light beam from the sun is made up of lots of different colours,

all the colours in the world.

BOTH: Wow!

When the light beam shines through raindrops,

it makes the light separate into all those different colours,

and we see those colours as a rainbow.

Yellow. Definitely yellow.

I've never heard of it before.

I have! It's like a dark blue sort of colour.
