Apple Tree Primary School is the best school ever and it's not far

from where we live.

It's amazing.

On the way to school, the lovely lollipop lady helps out at the

zebra crossing.

In my classroom, everyone is friendly, especially the class pet,

Nibbles the hamster.

He's called Nibbles because he nibbles everything.

Our school is perfect.

Well, apart from maybe...

school dinners.

They always serve spaghetti Bolognese

and everyone knows I hate spaghetti Bolognese.

It's all a little bit too tangly!

Oh, and there's just one more thing.

We get to wear school uniform.

-You wear uniforms?

-Yeah, I know, how cool.

They wear uniforms at their new school.

Uniforms are just another form of clothes, Mali, try not to worry.

I've never worn school uniform in my life.

But this school uniform doesn't sound very good for me.

Like lady lollipops and zebras on the road.

I'm not sure I'd like zebras crossing the road with me.

The school sounds scary.

They have strange things like pets that nibble all your books, so you

can't ever read.

And you can't even eat because you got all tangled in

spaghetti Bolognese.

And what if the uniform doesn't fit me?

I just want to go back to my old school.

Mali, you'll look so smart and grown-up,

and you'll never know until you give it a shot.

Next week is your first day at your new school and do you

know who else has their first day next week?

It's his first day at his new job at the zoo.

And guess what? By the strange way he's acting,

something tells me he's also very nervous about his first day,

I'm starting at the zoo but I can't find my work boots.

It's his first day at Apple Tree School next week and he is feeling

very nervous. The funny thing is,

it's also Nadeem's first day at the zoo and he's also feeling nervous.

I've got two very nervous boys on my hands, Kobi, what shall I do?

Ah!

Well, a new day at school is a new adventure.

A new adventure?

Yes. Reminds me of an old African proverb -

one cannot stop sleeping because of the fear of bad dreams.

Courage is the father of success.

I can see you've got an emergency going on here but I think, maybe,

we can leave the washing machine until later.

And every term I see lots of kids

So, if there's something you're not very good at,

Practise.

Good. First we'll practise the school run, to make sure it's fun

and not scary. Then we'll check out the school, to make sure

there's no creepy monsters lying in wait.

They had holes in them, so we had to chuck them out before the move.

And before I knew it, I was off to school in my new uniform.

At lunchtime, I thought I'd be brave

and go out and make some new friends.

Luckily, Emily from my class spotted me and came over.

She asked me if I'd like to join in their game of football.

I said - "Yes, that would be great".

I got to make loads of new friends playing a game I love.

-And guess what?

-You scored the winning goal?

Yes!

And that was one of the best parts of my day at school.

It all turned out well after all.
