All puffing into the big balloon, filling it up with air.

Oh, hello, there. Welcome to Big City Park.

Hello, everyone.

-Aw, hi, Billy.

-Hi.

I was just telling May about the time I sailed around the world

in a hot air balloon.

And you're just in time to hear the best bit of the story.

Gather round. Gather round.

Then, out of the blue, came a whole flock of pointy-birds!

And they flew right into the side of the balloon

and then...

-bang! The whole thing burst.

-Oh! And then what did you do?

Oh, well, then I just turned it in to a giant kite

and glided the rest of the way.

-Aaah, gliding is so graceful. Aaah.

-MAY LAUGHS

Hee-hee! That was a brilliant story, Ruairi.

-Was it true?

-Well, some of it was true.

-The rest I just made up using my imagination.

-Hm.

What's imagination?

Er... It's... Well, it's what you use to make up little stories

in your mind.

Ohhh.

-What's wrong, Billy?

-I wish I could use my imagination

and make up a story.

Well, why don't you, then, Billy?

Cos...well...

I can't think of one.

Maybe I don't have an imagination.

It's just an old tree trunk.

-But it can be anything you want it to be, Billy.

I can see, it looks like a jungle or an island.

It could look like an island

-or these could be like leaves on a tree.

-Or a treehouse.

-I think it's like a big green swimming pool.

ALL GIGGLE

It's still just looks like a tree trunk to me.

I hear a hurricane a-blowing.

I like to pretend there's a big storm.

The watering can, it's like the rain.

And then I blow on the plants...

And that's like the wind.

It's good to use your imagination. I'll check in with my city friends

to see how they use theirs.

Whenever I was a lad, I used to use imagination to imagine

-I was imagining all sorts of imaginary things.

so I think I'll rustle up some snacks for everyone.

Hello. My name is Dana and I'm a storyteller.

Now, we all have imaginations and I bet yours are really, really good.

"What luscious grapes,"

said a hungry cat.

"What fine, green grapes," said he.

"If I jump as high as a clever cat can,

"miaow,

"I'll have those grapes for my tea." Yum, yum.

So he jumped and he leapt,

-and snapped with his teeth.

-Snap!

But only the air could he bite

whilst those grapes, green and juicy, dangled above

and swayed from a lofty height.

That cat grew mad

and scarlet red. And, tossing his head, said he,

"Those grapes are sour...

"and full of worms!

"Who wants those grapes? Not me!"

ALL: Not me.

Well, we can all use our imaginations.

Tell me if you can reach those luscious grapes.

-I got them!

-Well done. Can you get them?

you can see smiley faces and spacemen

and, well, all I can see is a flower!

and the blue plates are like the sea.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess.

-SHE GASPS

Everybody thought she was brilliant,

but she had a wicked stepsister...

..who was always in a bad mood!

Grr!

THEY LAUGH

All the children were very scared of her. Hee-hee!

I am in a very, very bad mood!

-Grr!

-Oh!

But then, one day, a brave superhero came to town,

on a big horse. That's me!

THEY LAUGH

Clip, clop, clip, clop!

And he asked the wicked stepsister, "Why are you in such a bad mood?"

Because I'm hungry!

If we give you something to eat, will you stop being wicked?

Yes!

THEY LAUGH

Ha-ha! Ear muffs!

These ear protectors will protect my ears when the big bell goes bong!

DONG!

Argh!

Then, the brave superhero asked the beautiful princess

if there was somewhere they could go to get something to eat.

And she said...

Um... Ah!

Good King Ruairi will have a feast ready for us at the Story Circle!

And they all lived happily ever after. The end.

-Yeah!

Imagination is a brilliant thing

It can turn your hands into a bird

It can even turn Ruairi into a king

It can pretty much do anything

You can snowboard in June

You can football on the Moon

You can even drive a steam train into the station

You just have to use your imagination!

ALL: Yeah!
