This is Blue Peter - but mini.
Expect epic adventures,
makes, bakes, badges, pets,
presenters and your post.
We've only got five minutes to get ready for your Blue Peter adventure.
We've been training hard for a very special challenge.
That is so tiring!
That's probably the hardest thing I've done yet.
It's a wheel-ly tough challenge we were set
by cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy.
Hi, Barney and Radzi, your Sport Relief challenge
is going to push your cycling abilities to the limit.
We're taking on a mini omnium.
Basically, it's the best of three different track races...
And after three months of training, it's finally race day.
We'll be competing in front of 3,500 people
and some of the world's best cyclists.
No pressure then!
To help settle our nerves, our coach, Charlie...
-..has a surprise in store.
-Wow, look at that!
-Look at those!
Our very own Blue Peter cycling outfits.
Now we look the part, there's only one thing for it - let's race!
We will take in turns to try and set the fastest time
on one lap around the track.
And I'm up first.
-CROWD CHATTERS AND CHEERS
-Up on the track!
-Come on, Barnes!
Now all I need to do is remember my training -
get to the top of the track, build up speed and wait for the bell
before dropping down and going for it on my final lap.
Come on, Barney - up, up, up!
-Up, up, up!
No, no, no, no, no, no, high!
-I'm not sure why Charlie's shouting at me.
He timed it wrong.
But when I hear the bell I realise my mistake -
I've dropped down a lap too early.
Come on, Barney! Come on! Come on!
I try to sprint for two laps instead of one
but my legs are in agony.
I can't believe it - the one event I've always been strongest at
and I've thrown it away. I am gutted.
Is that it?
Now it's my turn.
I keep as high as I can
and when it matters, I drop down on the bell just as my last lap starts.
But I go a bit wide on the corner and it's slowing me down.
Hold your line! Hold your line! Come on, that's it!
My legs are burning but I keep on pedalling.
Come on, Radzi. This is the last bend - I have to go for it now!
Oh, I've done it - beating Barney by three seconds.
That's one to me.
I just gave that everything.
A tactical race with both riders going head-to-head on track
and sprinting flat out for the finish.
And before we hit the track, our training partners,
Josh and Tilly, arrive to offer us some advice.
Josh, I'm in trouble. What can I do?
Make sure that you can always see Radzi
so that you can anticipate his moves.
-I think you need to move around the track -
-confuse him a little bit.
-I can do that, I reckon.
Doesn't take a lot to confuse me, you know that, mate.
Let battle commence.
Come on, Barney. Go, Radzi.
I decide to take the lead early and see what Radzi does.
Don't you worry, Barn, I'm close behind.
I got you, Radz.
I'm trying to keep an eye on Radzi
but it's hard looking over your shoulder.
I'm hanging back for a surprise attack.
As the bell rings, I decide to go for it.
My only hope this to overtake him on the bend...
but again I go wide!
I try to catch him but he's left me so much to do.
I have no idea where Radzi is any more.
My head is down and I'm going for the line.
..and that makes it one-all.
I tried so hard to come back at you then!
You were just absolutely pedal to the metal.
Once that bell went, I didn't know where you were.
So, I took the flying lap, Barney took the sprint.
It all comes down to this.
Only one of us can win this.
This is the decider...
Starting from opposite sides of the track, we have just four laps
to try and catch each other up.
First person across the finish line wins.
You know what you're doing,
I just want to see you get it all out on the track.
And we're off.
I get a better start and pedal as hard as I can.
-It takes me a while to build up my speed.
-Come on, Barney! Come on!
After the first lap, it's neck and neck.
And I've decided to go for it.
But will I last the whole race?
I'm still in this. I just have to keep on pushing.
I begin my last lap but my legs are really starting to tire.
Me, too. I'm giving it everything and I have no idea where Radzi is.
I can just see Barney. For the first time, I know I'm catching him.
I see the finish line and I realise I've done it.
I may have won but more importantly
we've absolutely loved this challenge.
