Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou...? | 6:00:43 | 6:00:45
Linds, I'm Radzi, not Romeo. | 6:00:45 | 6:00:47
Radz, I know, but I'm just practising | 6:00:47 | 6:00:49
and getting into character, | 6:00:49 | 6:00:50
because we're celebrating 400 years of William Shakespeare! | 6:00:50 | 6:00:53
We don't have Romeo, but we do have the winner of The Voice | 6:00:53 | 6:00:55
holding an armadillo. | 6:00:55 | 6:00:57
Well, that's cool. | 6:00:57 | 6:00:58
APPLAUSE | 6:01:12 | 6:01:15
Hello! | 6:01:15 | 6:01:17
Welcome to a live Blue Peter, and do not go anywhere, my friends, | 6:01:17 | 6:01:20
because we have a bumper show coming your way right now. | 6:01:20 | 6:01:23
You have already met the man himself, | 6:01:23 | 6:01:24
the man, the myth, the legend, the winner of The Voice, Kevin Simm, | 6:01:24 | 6:01:27
performing his brand-new single later on, | 6:01:27 | 6:01:29
-All You Good Friends. Are you up for it, Kev? -I can't wait! | 6:01:29 | 6:01:32
-Straight up top! -We love it. It's going to be a good show. | 6:01:32 | 6:01:34
Head this way, because maybe you remember when we launched | 6:01:34 | 6:01:37
our Team GB Blue Peter sport badge competition. | 6:01:37 | 6:01:39
We're so excited about it, | 6:01:39 | 6:01:41
because all the athletes going to Rio this year are going to get | 6:01:41 | 6:01:44
their very own Blue Peter sport badge. | 6:01:44 | 6:01:45
And today, we are announcing the winner of that competition. | 6:01:45 | 6:01:48
Yes, we are. I'll be performing for the very first time | 6:01:48 | 6:01:51
in a Shakespeare play, taking to the stage to celebrate 400 years | 6:01:51 | 6:01:55
of the world's most famous playwright. | 6:01:55 | 6:01:57
-I'm going to leave you there. See you later. -Bye-bye, Linds. | 6:01:57 | 6:02:00
We're going a little tour of the studio, | 6:02:00 | 6:02:01
because I'm pretty excited to meet | 6:02:01 | 6:02:03
three pretty amazing little creatures. | 6:02:03 | 6:02:05
They've come in for a visit and they are joined by | 6:02:05 | 6:02:07
our animal expert, Scott, everybody! | 6:02:07 | 6:02:09
CHEERING | 6:02:09 | 6:02:10
Scott, I'm going to very carefully... Is it OK if I climb in? | 6:02:10 | 6:02:13
Of course, come on in. It's good to be back. | 6:02:13 | 6:02:15
We love getting involved. Who have you brought along with you here? | 6:02:15 | 6:02:18
As you're announcing the winner of your Team GB sports badge winner, | 6:02:18 | 6:02:21
-and it's nearly the Olympics in Brazil... -It is. | 6:02:21 | 6:02:23
..I thought I'd bring along some of our animal friends | 6:02:23 | 6:02:25
that originate from South America. | 6:02:25 | 6:02:27
This is Dylan and Doris, our armadillos. | 6:02:27 | 6:02:28
Oh, my goodness, we've got armadillos live in the studio! | 6:02:28 | 6:02:31
This is so exciting, I have always wanted to meet an armadillo. | 6:02:31 | 6:02:34
That is true, I was telling you earlier. | 6:02:34 | 6:02:35
-You did. -So if there's an animal that you've always wanted to meet, | 6:02:35 | 6:02:38
we want to know, what is it and why? | 6:02:38 | 6:02:40
Head online! | 6:02:40 | 6:02:43
Tell us what that animal is, and we'd love to read your comment out | 6:02:43 | 6:02:46
at the end of the show. Look at Doris! | 6:02:46 | 6:02:47
-She jumps up a lot, doesn't she? -She's very friendly. | 6:02:47 | 6:02:50
We love them. So, tell me a little bit more about them. | 6:02:50 | 6:02:52
Why are they so special? | 6:02:52 | 6:02:53
Well, Dylan and Doris are actually six-banded armadillos, | 6:02:53 | 6:02:56
and they get that name from the six squidgy bands across their back. | 6:02:56 | 6:02:59
-Oh, yeah. -They give them a bit of flexibility. | 6:02:59 | 6:03:01
Now, did you know that the word armadillo | 6:03:01 | 6:03:02
is Spanish for "little armoured one"? | 6:03:02 | 6:03:04
-I didn't know that! -That is quite cute. -That is very cute, yeah. | 6:03:04 | 6:03:07
And that refers to their bony plates that cover their head, | 6:03:07 | 6:03:10
their body and their tail, as well, | 6:03:10 | 6:03:11
so it's awesome protection from predators. | 6:03:11 | 6:03:13
They are actually the only mammal to have a shell like this. | 6:03:13 | 6:03:16
Oh, really? Do you know, while I'm feeling Doris here, | 6:03:16 | 6:03:18
she's really warm. They're quite hot animals, aren't they? | 6:03:18 | 6:03:21
They are quite enjoying the warm studio today, | 6:03:21 | 6:03:23
because their habitat that they come from in the wild | 6:03:23 | 6:03:25
is in South America - rainforests, semi-deserts and grasslands, | 6:03:25 | 6:03:29
so they are...they really like it to be nice and warm. | 6:03:29 | 6:03:31
OK. And they are nice and awake... Oh, hello! | 6:03:31 | 6:03:33
Doris is ready for camera, she's woken up. | 6:03:33 | 6:03:35
They are nice and awake today, aren't they, as well? | 6:03:35 | 6:03:37
Yeah, well, these guys are actually | 6:03:37 | 6:03:39
the only diurnal species of armadillo, | 6:03:39 | 6:03:41
-so they are especially enjoying the heat. -Diurnal. | 6:03:41 | 6:03:43
That is a good word, everybody, write it down. | 6:03:43 | 6:03:45
-Do you know what it means? -No, tell me. | 6:03:45 | 6:03:47
It means that they are awake in the day-time instead of the night-time. | 6:03:47 | 6:03:50
It's brilliant. And they move quite quickly, | 6:03:50 | 6:03:52
because when we were rehearsing earlier, | 6:03:52 | 6:03:54
they were really scuttling about in here, weren't they? | 6:03:54 | 6:03:56
They are actually quite speedy, | 6:03:56 | 6:03:57
considering they've got quite short little legs, they're really fast. | 6:03:57 | 6:04:00
That's because it is one of their main ways | 6:04:00 | 6:04:02
of protecting themselves from predators, | 6:04:02 | 6:04:04
so they run really fast, disappear down burrows, | 6:04:04 | 6:04:06
or maybe into thorny bushes so that their armour protects them, | 6:04:06 | 6:04:09
but the predator can't chase them. That works pretty good for them. | 6:04:09 | 6:04:12
They're clever animals, they're so well adapted. | 6:04:12 | 6:04:14
Do you want to know some other things about them? | 6:04:14 | 6:04:16
-Yes, tell me more! -You might have checked out | 6:04:16 | 6:04:18
-that they've got tiny eyes, haven't they? -Yeah. | 6:04:18 | 6:04:20
They don't really see that well, | 6:04:20 | 6:04:21
so their super-sense to find their way around | 6:04:21 | 6:04:23
is this big, long, squidgy nose. You can hear her, like... | 6:04:23 | 6:04:26
HE SNIFFS They are doing a lot of sniffing around this hay here! | 6:04:26 | 6:04:29
That's a super sense of smell. If she comes up on her back legs, | 6:04:29 | 6:04:32
you will be able to see she's got gigantic claws | 6:04:32 | 6:04:34
that she uses for digging burrows, so she's an expert digger. | 6:04:34 | 6:04:36
She's got a gigantic, long, sticky tongue, just like an anteater, | 6:04:36 | 6:04:39
that she's related to, | 6:04:39 | 6:04:40
so she can slurp up ants and termites out of burrows. | 6:04:40 | 6:04:43
That's the type of thing she likes to eat, but other things, as well. | 6:04:43 | 6:04:46
-Yeah. -Do you want to know what else she eats? -Yeah! | 6:04:46 | 6:04:48
She will eat plants, fruit, and even other animals. | 6:04:48 | 6:04:51
Vertebrate animals like lizards and frogs. | 6:04:51 | 6:04:54
Do you think she's hungry now? I know lots of people at home | 6:04:54 | 6:04:56
might be having their dinner. Is it snack time? | 6:04:56 | 6:04:58
-Would you like to feed them? -Yes, please! -You might not like | 6:04:58 | 6:05:01
-what they're going to be eating today. -Oh, really? | 6:05:01 | 6:05:03
They like to eat things that wiggle, | 6:05:03 | 6:05:04
their most favourite food is definitely insects. | 6:05:04 | 6:05:07
We've got some little wiggly worms here. | 6:05:07 | 6:05:08
I'm going to hold them. This is going to tickle, isn't it? Ugh! | 6:05:08 | 6:05:11
So if you turn that into a burrow for them. | 6:05:11 | 6:05:13
-Turn it into a burrow, like this? -OK. -OK. | 6:05:13 | 6:05:15
Let's see if we can get one of them back around. | 6:05:15 | 6:05:17
Doris, do you want a snack? | 6:05:17 | 6:05:19
Here you go! | 6:05:19 | 6:05:20
She's having a little feed there. | 6:05:20 | 6:05:22
You'll be able to see the big, long tongue coming out. | 6:05:22 | 6:05:25
This is amazing! This is so cool! | 6:05:25 | 6:05:26
She's eating all her little worms. I can feel that tongue as well. | 6:05:26 | 6:05:29
Aww, that was... Yeah, did you enjoy that? | 6:05:29 | 6:05:32
-Did she get them all? -Yeah! Now, you've brought | 6:05:32 | 6:05:34
a little friend of theirs along as well, haven't you? | 6:05:34 | 6:05:37
I've brought along another type | 6:05:37 | 6:05:38
-of armadillo for you to meet as well. -Yes! | 6:05:38 | 6:05:40
-Quite a cute little armadillo. -You can never have enough armadillos. | 6:05:40 | 6:05:43
No, we're done, Doris, that's enough! | 6:05:43 | 6:05:45
You've had all your snacks, just wait! | 6:05:45 | 6:05:47
She's lovely. | 6:05:47 | 6:05:51
-So who is this? -So this is Melon, and Melon is... | 6:05:51 | 6:05:55
a one, two, three-banded armadillo. | 6:05:55 | 6:05:57
-Oh, wow. -Also from South America. | 6:05:57 | 6:05:59
She's actually quite a special little armadillo, | 6:05:59 | 6:06:01
because out of all the species of armadillo, | 6:06:01 | 6:06:03
she's the only one that can curl up in a proper ball. | 6:06:03 | 6:06:06
-That's incredibly satisfying. -Her head and tail are perfect shapes, | 6:06:06 | 6:06:09
and they lock into each other to make themselves | 6:06:09 | 6:06:11
into a ball of armour, so that's pretty cool, right? | 6:06:11 | 6:06:14
She looks so cool, can I hold her? | 6:06:14 | 6:06:15
-Yeah, are you ready to hold her? -Hello, Melon! | 6:06:15 | 6:06:17
I'm holding an armadillo! This is amazing. | 6:06:17 | 6:06:20
This is why being a Blue Peter presenter is the best job. | 6:06:20 | 6:06:22
Actually, she feels like a little teddy bear. | 6:06:22 | 6:06:24
Like I'm holding a little teddy. | 6:06:24 | 6:06:26
-But she's really warm, isn't she? -She's nice and warm. | 6:06:26 | 6:06:28
She's been in her hay. Oh, we love them. | 6:06:28 | 6:06:30
If you want to see what these armadillos have been up to, | 6:06:30 | 6:06:33
we've had a little armadillo-cam in here, | 6:06:33 | 6:06:35
in the studio, watching them all day, | 6:06:35 | 6:06:37
their secret little life. Make sure you head online to the website | 6:06:37 | 6:06:40
after the show, and check it out. | 6:06:40 | 6:06:42
And from me and Melon and Scott, | 6:06:42 | 6:06:44
thank you so much for bringing these gorgeous creatures in! Radzi. | 6:06:44 | 6:06:47
There's a lot of love for armadillos, | 6:06:47 | 6:06:50
especially from Natalie from Norfolk. | 6:06:50 | 6:06:52
Check out the detail Natalie has in making this 3D armadillo. | 6:06:52 | 6:06:56
We've got chocolate coins, | 6:06:56 | 6:06:57
the wrappers there, going all the way along the shell. | 6:06:57 | 6:07:00
The same for the ears. The detail! | 6:07:00 | 6:07:01
Cardboard for the tail, egg crate for the head, | 6:07:01 | 6:07:04
Natalie, absolutely fantastic job. | 6:07:04 | 6:07:06
And, do you remember a few weeks ago, I performed as Adele? | 6:07:06 | 6:07:10
Do you indeed? That is me giving it the beans there. Well... | 6:07:10 | 6:07:13
-You gave it everything. -..Amelia from Manchester certainly does. | 6:07:13 | 6:07:15
She's recreated it perfectly here. | 6:07:15 | 6:07:18
Even with my textured coat there. Saying, "Hello, it's me!" | 6:07:18 | 6:07:22
And that's about as good as my singing voice gets, but, Amelia, | 6:07:22 | 6:07:25
that gets you a blue Blue Peter badge. | 6:07:25 | 6:07:27
Now, I'm just going to wipe all this armadillo off my hands here. | 6:07:27 | 6:07:30
You may remember that last week... They really did have a good nibble! | 6:07:30 | 6:07:33
You may remember, last week, we were out in the garden, | 6:07:33 | 6:07:35
planting some rocket seeds. You can see us, the red and the blue ones. | 6:07:35 | 6:07:38
We don't know which have been to space, | 6:07:38 | 6:07:40
but Jacob from Warwick has written in this, he says, | 6:07:40 | 6:07:43
"I wonder which is the space rocket?" | 6:07:43 | 6:07:45
And then you can have a look down here, | 6:07:45 | 6:07:47
he's got the red ones with little shoots of rocket growing out, | 6:07:47 | 6:07:49
and the blue ones with actual mini-rockets growing out of them, | 6:07:49 | 6:07:53
so I think Jacob thinks he knows | 6:07:53 | 6:07:54
that the blue ones are the space rockets. | 6:07:54 | 6:07:57
Well, Jacob, you'll have to wait and find out, my friend. | 6:07:57 | 6:07:59
Tim Peake will be revealing it later. | 6:07:59 | 6:08:01
-We actually don't know. -We don't know. We don't know, J. | 6:08:01 | 6:08:03
On that same show, we investigated the pond, | 6:08:03 | 6:08:05
and William from Solihull did exactly the same thing. | 6:08:05 | 6:08:07
That's there. I'm going to call that fish Radzi, | 6:08:07 | 6:08:09
it's official, I just said it there on live Blue Peter. | 6:08:09 | 6:08:12
Well, look at this creation from William. | 6:08:12 | 6:08:14
Glitter along the fish here, the detail of all the different fish. | 6:08:14 | 6:08:17
William, that's earned you a blue badge, my friend! Well done, sir! | 6:08:17 | 6:08:20
Now, someone who doesn't need a Blue Peter badge, | 6:08:20 | 6:08:23
because she's got a gold one, is Her Majesty, the Queen. | 6:08:23 | 6:08:26
You can see her here getting her gold badge in 2002. | 6:08:26 | 6:08:28
Well, we've got a little treat that's been sent in to her, | 6:08:28 | 6:08:31
-because it is the big 9-0 today. -It is the 9-0! | 6:08:31 | 6:08:34
It's her 90th, so, happy birthday to Her Majesty, the Queen. | 6:08:34 | 6:08:38
And this has been sent in by Natalie - | 6:08:38 | 6:08:39
I'll turn it this way - from Worcester. | 6:08:39 | 6:08:41
-Have a look at that. -Look at that. | 6:08:41 | 6:08:43
She's put so many candles, sprinkles, | 6:08:43 | 6:08:44
there's bits of cream and sweeties on the side. | 6:08:44 | 6:08:47
We've got foam there, making the sponge. | 6:08:47 | 6:08:48
And we've even got some red string making the jam. | 6:08:48 | 6:08:50
Natalie, you are a genius. We're going to eat this later. | 6:08:50 | 6:08:53
Off the chart, absolutely off the chart. | 6:08:53 | 6:08:55
Well done to all of you who've sent something in. | 6:08:55 | 6:08:57
Thank you to all of you, and remember, | 6:08:57 | 6:08:58
if you get your hands on a Blue Peter badge, | 6:08:58 | 6:09:00
you can get into over, Lindsey Russell, | 6:09:00 | 6:09:02
200 attractions across the UK... | 6:09:02 | 6:09:03
-BOTH: -# ..for free! # | 6:09:03 | 6:09:04
-We're getting better at that! -We are! | 6:09:04 | 6:09:06
Nearly a harmony there. | 6:09:06 | 6:09:07
And we love it when you write to us and send in all this brilliant post, | 6:09:07 | 6:09:10
because it fills up our Badge Wall. So if you want to do that, | 6:09:10 | 6:09:13
the address that you need is going to be right here! | 6:09:13 | 6:09:16
It is: | 6:09:16 | 6:09:17 | |
2BH, or not 2BH? | 6:09:20 | 6:09:22
I see what you did there, Lindsey! | 6:09:22 | 6:09:24
She allowed me to link in to my challenge, | 6:09:24 | 6:09:26
it's the acting challenge, it's my Shakespeare, check it out! | 6:09:26 | 6:09:28
The Royal Shakespeare Company are on tour with A Midsummer Night's Dream, | 6:09:32 | 6:09:36
one of Shakespeare's most famous plays, | 6:09:36 | 6:09:38
and they've given me the opportunity to perform with them. | 6:09:38 | 6:09:42
That's fine! Because with my acting background, | 6:09:42 | 6:09:44
what could possibly go wrong? | 6:09:44 | 6:09:47
Ahem, yeah, I am a natural on stage. No problem. | 6:09:47 | 6:09:51
Anyway, first, I need to show the director, Erica, what I can do. | 6:09:51 | 6:09:56
Now until the break of day, | 6:09:56 | 6:09:58
through this house, each fairy stray. | 6:09:58 | 6:10:02
Meet me all by break of day. | 6:10:02 | 6:10:04
'Time for Erica's feedback.' | 6:10:04 | 6:10:07
-What did you think? -I guess there's some things to work on | 6:10:07 | 6:10:10
in terms of standing on a stage. | 6:10:10 | 6:10:11
I'd love to hear your voice come out more strongly. | 6:10:11 | 6:10:14
And in quite a big theatre, | 6:10:14 | 6:10:15
we're going to need to find a bit more power in your voice. | 6:10:15 | 6:10:18
I'll be doing three things in the play. | 6:10:18 | 6:10:21
I'll have to say a line, take part in a dance sequence, and sing. | 6:10:21 | 6:10:25
That's right, I said sing. As in, a song. | 6:10:25 | 6:10:28
HE LAUGHS | 6:10:28 | 6:10:29
Mmm. This could be tricky. | 6:10:29 | 6:10:31
But who better to give me some help than the cast of a play? | 6:10:31 | 6:10:35
ALL: # La-la lullaby | 6:10:35 | 6:10:39
# Never harm, nor spell, nor charm... # | 6:10:39 | 6:10:43
I am so out of my depth. I am like a person learning | 6:10:45 | 6:10:48
to swim for the first time, I am doing it in the Atlantic Ocean. | 6:10:48 | 6:10:51
# Singing our sweet lullaby... # | 6:10:51 | 6:10:56
He's doing very well with the skills, he's singing in tune | 6:10:56 | 6:11:00
and he's learning the moves. | 6:11:00 | 6:11:01
To be able to stay absolutely on the timing | 6:11:01 | 6:11:04
and to know the words really accurately, | 6:11:04 | 6:11:06
he's going to have to do quite a lot of rehearsing it. | 6:11:06 | 6:11:08
# Lullaby... # | 6:11:08 | 6:11:14
Yeah! | 6:11:14 | 6:11:15 | |
APPLAUSE | 6:11:15 | 6:11:16
-Very good! -I was awful! | 6:11:16 | 6:11:18
A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of Shakespeare's best loved comedies. | 6:11:19 | 6:11:23
Born over 400 years ago in Stratford-upon-Avon, | 6:11:23 | 6:11:26
Shakespeare wrote around 37 plays. | 6:11:26 | 6:11:30
Not content with writing them, he also performed in them, too, | 6:11:30 | 6:11:33
playing many of his biggest roles, such as Hamlet and Othello. | 6:11:33 | 6:11:37
He contributed over 3,000 words to the English language, and his plays | 6:11:37 | 6:11:42
contain many popular phrases that we still use today. | 6:11:42 | 6:11:45
My role is part of the fairy train, a group of fairies that serve | 6:11:47 | 6:11:51
the fairy queen, Titania. | 6:11:51 | 6:11:54
But this production is unique, | 6:11:54 | 6:11:55
because they are asking local schoolchildren to take part. | 6:11:55 | 6:11:59
And for one night only, | 6:11:59 | 6:12:01
I'm getting to perform alongside this lot in Bradford. | 6:12:01 | 6:12:04
Although I've been practising at home, | 6:12:06 | 6:12:08
this is our first full rehearsal together. | 6:12:08 | 6:12:10
I am so underprepared, | 6:12:16 | 6:12:17
and these guys know exactly what they're doing. | 6:12:17 | 6:12:20
Help! | 6:12:22 | 6:12:23 | |
We start with a song. | 6:12:23 | 6:12:25
In the first rehearsal, this is what I struggled with. | 6:12:25 | 6:12:28
# Newts and blindworms, do no wrong | 6:12:28 | 6:12:31
# Come not near our fairy queen... # | 6:12:31 | 6:12:35
I just about muddle through, | 6:12:35 | 6:12:36
but now it's the dance that I'm finding hard. | 6:12:36 | 6:12:40
I'm making loads of mistakes. | 6:12:40 | 6:12:43
Wake up, Radzi! | 6:12:44 | 6:12:45
'But something I do get right is my one line.' | 6:12:46 | 6:12:50
Ever shall in safety rest. | 6:12:50 | 6:12:52
APPLAUSE | 6:12:55 | 6:12:57
That was tough. | 6:12:58 | 6:13:00
I've got to learn a song, which I don't know very well. | 6:13:00 | 6:13:05
The dance, I thought I knew, | 6:13:05 | 6:13:06
and it turns out the easy part is actually the hard part. | 6:13:06 | 6:13:10
I've got a lot of revision to do tonight. | 6:13:10 | 6:13:13
The big day is finally here. | 6:13:13 | 6:13:15
It's time for me to get into my costume. | 6:13:15 | 6:13:17
And it's not your usual fairy outfit. | 6:13:17 | 6:13:20
This production is giving Shakespeare a shake-up, | 6:13:20 | 6:13:23
and going for a more modern look. | 6:13:23 | 6:13:25
Costume and make-up done, I get to see the stage for the first time. | 6:13:27 | 6:13:30
Look at this space! | 6:13:30 | 6:13:34
OK, the nerves have genuinely... | 6:13:34 | 6:13:36
They've kicked in now. | 6:13:37 | 6:13:38
While I get ready with the rest of my fairy train... | 6:13:40 | 6:13:43
-ALL: -Woooo! | 6:13:43 | 6:13:45
THEY CHEER | 6:13:45 | 6:13:46
You'll be amazing! | 6:13:46 | 6:13:47
..the audience take their seats, and the show begins. | 6:13:47 | 6:13:51
It's time for us to head to stage and perform our dance. | 6:13:53 | 6:13:56
Fairies, away! | 6:14:06 | 6:14:07
Thou shalt not from this grove! | 6:14:08 | 6:14:11
I managed to remember all the moves! | 6:14:11 | 6:14:13
I can't believe it! | 6:14:13 | 6:14:14
First time on stage, how are we feeling? | 6:14:14 | 6:14:17
It was awesome! | 6:14:17 | 6:14:19
Excited! | 6:14:19 | 6:14:20
-Did you do it? -Yeah! | 6:14:20 | 6:14:22
We are off to a flying start and feeling great. | 6:14:22 | 6:14:26
But next up is the song! | 6:14:26 | 6:14:29
# You spotted snakes with double tongue | 6:14:29 | 6:14:31
# Thorny hedgehogs, be not seen | 6:14:31 | 6:14:36
# Newts and blindworms, do no wrong | 6:14:36 | 6:14:38
# Come not near our fairy queen | 6:14:38 | 6:14:45
# Philomel, with melody | 6:14:45 | 6:14:50
# Sing in our sweet lullaby... # | 6:14:50 | 6:14:56
The audience are loving it. | 6:14:56 | 6:14:58
But there's one last thing we have to get right. | 6:14:58 | 6:15:02
Our solo lines. | 6:15:02 | 6:15:04
Ever shall in safety rest. | 6:15:04 | 6:15:05
Trip away. Make no stay. | 6:15:05 | 6:15:08
Meet me all by break of day. | 6:15:08 | 6:15:11
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING | 6:15:11 | 6:15:13
Oh, my goodness gracious, I was so nervous out there. | 6:15:15 | 6:15:19
All of us were. | 6:15:19 | 6:15:20
We were out three times, and I think we got three out of three. | 6:15:20 | 6:15:23
400 years on, and Shakespeare's still bringing the house down. | 6:15:23 | 6:15:28
It's great to see people of all ages loving his work. | 6:15:28 | 6:15:32
Nice one, Bill! | 6:15:32 | 6:15:33
I just want to say an enormous thank you to everyone at the RSC | 6:15:35 | 6:15:38
for being such legends. Shakespeare really is for everyone. | 6:15:38 | 6:15:42
-It's difficult, though, isn't it? -It's hard. | 6:15:42 | 6:15:44
-And you did a really, really good job. -Thank you. | 6:15:44 | 6:15:46
Well done, Radz, I was proud of you. Fellow thespian! | 6:15:46 | 6:15:48
Now it's time for the moment that you and I have all been waiting for. | 6:15:48 | 6:15:51
It's time to reveal the winners | 6:15:51 | 6:15:53
of the Blue Peter sport badge competition. | 6:15:53 | 6:15:55
This is, quite possibly, my favourite of all | 6:15:55 | 6:15:57
the Blue Peter competitions I've been involved with, | 6:15:57 | 6:15:59
because not only do you have to design the badge, | 6:15:59 | 6:16:01
but that very badge will get given to every single member | 6:16:01 | 6:16:05
of Team GB who are going to the Olympics. | 6:16:05 | 6:16:08
-Off the charts! Off the charts. -And you lot at home, our BP crew, | 6:16:08 | 6:16:10
you really rose to the challenge, because, actually, in the end, | 6:16:10 | 6:16:13
we had 4,867 entries. | 6:16:13 | 6:16:17
-APPLAUSE -Yeah! -That's pretty amazing, isn't it? | 6:16:17 | 6:16:19
You should be really proud of yourselves | 6:16:19 | 6:16:21
for having a go. Well done. | 6:16:21 | 6:16:22
I was lucky enough to be on the judging panel, | 6:16:22 | 6:16:24
and I can assure you, it was a very, very difficult task. | 6:16:24 | 6:16:26
We deliberated for such a long time, | 6:16:26 | 6:16:28
but we had to come up with a decision about the winner, | 6:16:28 | 6:16:32
and that decision was made. | 6:16:32 | 6:16:34
So, Linds, let's reveal the official runners-up. | 6:16:34 | 6:16:36
Wow. They are looking incredible. They are so colourful! | 6:16:36 | 6:16:40
There are some really, really clever ideas here, as well. | 6:16:40 | 6:16:43
You can see loads of GB flags, | 6:16:43 | 6:16:44
you can see the Blue Peter logo dotted about everywhere. | 6:16:44 | 6:16:47
We've even got some parrots and some climbers and some runners. | 6:16:47 | 6:16:51
It's all there. We're so impressed. And if you can see yours here, | 6:16:51 | 6:16:54
you have officially earned yourself a Blue Peter orange badge, | 6:16:54 | 6:16:57
so you should be really, really proud of yourselves. | 6:16:57 | 6:16:59
-Good job, everyone! -Linds! -Yes? | 6:16:59 | 6:17:01
-Should we reveal it? -OK. -Now it's time to reveal the top entries | 6:17:01 | 6:17:04
for each age category. | 6:17:04 | 6:17:06
Starting with age six to eight-year-olds. | 6:17:06 | 6:17:08
And, the top entry is... | 6:17:08 | 6:17:12
..Sam from Stafford! | 6:17:13 | 6:17:14
-APPLAUSE -Well done, Sam! | 6:17:14 | 6:17:17
-Wow. -The thing I love most of all about this design is the fact that | 6:17:17 | 6:17:20
he's really, really captured the idea of it being a British team | 6:17:20 | 6:17:24
going to a Brazil Olympics, with a gold medal in the middle. | 6:17:24 | 6:17:27
Fantastic job, Sam, well done. | 6:17:27 | 6:17:29
Very clever and bold, we like that. OK, next in the nine to 11 category, | 6:17:29 | 6:17:33
the top entry is... | 6:17:33 | 6:17:35
..Phoebe from West Sussex! | 6:17:36 | 6:17:38
-APPLAUSE -Well done! | 6:17:38 | 6:17:40
Again, we think this one is so clever, | 6:17:40 | 6:17:43
because you've got your GB flag, | 6:17:43 | 6:17:44
but in the shape of the Blue Peter ship just behind. | 6:17:44 | 6:17:46
And on top you have some really amazing colours, here. | 6:17:46 | 6:17:49
It did really stand out, didn't it, Radzi? | 6:17:49 | 6:17:50
-Really stands out. -Very, very clever design. Well done, Phoebe. | 6:17:50 | 6:17:53
So the last top entry for age 12 to 15-year-olds. | 6:17:53 | 6:17:57
And it is... | 6:17:57 | 6:17:59
Hettie from Dorset! | 6:17:59 | 6:18:01
-APPLAUSE -Straight away, it just jumps off the page, doesn't it? | 6:18:01 | 6:18:05
The way she's manipulated the medals, with the British flag, | 6:18:05 | 6:18:07
with the Brazilian flag, | 6:18:07 | 6:18:09
and then having the Blue Peter ship | 6:18:09 | 6:18:10
taking pride of place on the gold medal, fantastic job. | 6:18:10 | 6:18:13
Now, of course, it was so tough whittling it down | 6:18:13 | 6:18:15
from all of these you can see behind us | 6:18:15 | 6:18:17
to all of these top entries, they were all brilliant. | 6:18:17 | 6:18:19
But, of course, you know, it's the orange badge, | 6:18:19 | 6:18:22
there does have to be a winner. | 6:18:22 | 6:18:23
So, drumroll, please. | 6:18:23 | 6:18:25
DRUMROLL | 6:18:25 | 6:18:27
The winner of the 2016 Blue Peter sport badge competition is... | 6:18:27 | 6:18:33
..Sam from Stafford! | 6:18:34 | 6:18:36
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING | 6:18:36 | 6:18:38
We really did feel this was a stand-out winner, and, actually, | 6:18:40 | 6:18:43
Sam is only in the studio right now. | 6:18:43 | 6:18:45
Will you please give a big welcome to Sam? | 6:18:45 | 6:18:47
APPLAUSE | 6:18:47 | 6:18:48
Sam, Sam, Sam, straight up top, my friend. | 6:18:48 | 6:18:51
Take a seat. Oh, my goodness gracious me! | 6:18:51 | 6:18:54
You are, officially, our Blue Peter sports badge competition winner, | 6:18:54 | 6:18:58
how are you feeling? | 6:18:58 | 6:18:59
Really happy. | 6:18:59 | 6:19:00
You look really happy with that big smile on your face. | 6:19:00 | 6:19:03
So, when you found out you'd won, | 6:19:03 | 6:19:04
what was going through your head? How were you feeling? | 6:19:04 | 6:19:06
I was really shocked, | 6:19:06 | 6:19:09
and really happy. | 6:19:09 | 6:19:11
I'll bet you were. I applied to many competitions when I was younger | 6:19:11 | 6:19:14
and I didn't win a single one, so you are awesome. | 6:19:14 | 6:19:16
Now, let's talk about the design here. | 6:19:16 | 6:19:18
You haven't seen this before. but this is for you, | 6:19:18 | 6:19:20
and this is the official computerised design of your badge, | 6:19:20 | 6:19:25
which is how it will eventually get manufactured. | 6:19:25 | 6:19:27
What inspired the design? | 6:19:27 | 6:19:29
Well, I thought, um, of the medal | 6:19:30 | 6:19:35
as what they might get, and, | 6:19:35 | 6:19:38
the green and yellow for the Brazil colours. | 6:19:38 | 6:19:44
You really have done a fantastic job there, Sam. | 6:19:44 | 6:19:47
I just love the idea that the badge | 6:19:47 | 6:19:49
the Team GB athletes will be wearing is your badge. | 6:19:49 | 6:19:52
Not a manufactured... The one you designed! | 6:19:52 | 6:19:55
What do you think about that? | 6:19:55 | 6:19:57
-It's amazing! -It is amazing, isn't it? | 6:19:57 | 6:20:00
And you've a favourite athlete that you can't wait to, | 6:20:00 | 6:20:03
hopefully, give him his badge. | 6:20:03 | 6:20:04
Or her badge. | 6:20:04 | 6:20:06
Tom Daley. | 6:20:06 | 6:20:07
-Tom Daley, why Tom Daley? -Because he smiles all the time | 6:20:07 | 6:20:10
and he's really good at what sport he does. | 6:20:10 | 6:20:13
He absolutely is, I think he might possibly | 6:20:13 | 6:20:15
be getting himself a gold medal as well. | 6:20:15 | 6:20:16
But also, what I love is the idea that all the people at home | 6:20:16 | 6:20:19
will be wearing your badge. | 6:20:19 | 6:20:20
Thousands of Blue Peter viewers will be wearing your badge. | 6:20:20 | 6:20:23
-And I know you love Blue Peter. -Yeah. | 6:20:23 | 6:20:25
Will any of your friends be wearing it? | 6:20:25 | 6:20:26
A few of them said that they want to get it. | 6:20:26 | 6:20:31
Well, I'm going to look forward to seeing that. | 6:20:31 | 6:20:33
And you're a little bit of a celebrity, aren't you? | 6:20:33 | 6:20:35
Because, as you'll know, if you applied | 6:20:35 | 6:20:37
or actually tried to design the badge yourself, | 6:20:37 | 6:20:39
along with designing it, | 6:20:39 | 6:20:40
you always had to include an inspirational message | 6:20:40 | 6:20:43
to help inspire people to get behind Team GB. | 6:20:43 | 6:20:46
Sam did just that, and because of that, | 6:20:46 | 6:20:48
you got to attend a rather special photoshoot | 6:20:48 | 6:20:50
with an Olympic gold medallist | 6:20:50 | 6:20:51
who is also only the IBF World Heavyweight Champion, | 6:20:51 | 6:20:54
-Anthony Joshua, didn't you? -Yeah. | 6:20:54 | 6:20:55
Let's take a look. There he is there! | 6:20:55 | 6:20:57
You look like you're best friends! What's he like? | 6:20:57 | 6:21:00
Uh, he's really nice, | 6:21:00 | 6:21:02
-and he's got a really, really loud laugh. -Does he really? | 6:21:02 | 6:21:05
And a really hard punch, as well. | 6:21:05 | 6:21:07
-Yeah. -Now, Sam, what would you say if I said to you | 6:21:07 | 6:21:10
that I told you a porkie pie, possibly, | 6:21:10 | 6:21:12
about us not having the badge ready yet, | 6:21:12 | 6:21:14
that, actually, the very first Blue Peter sport badge 2016 | 6:21:14 | 6:21:18
is in my hand right now? Would you like to see it? | 6:21:18 | 6:21:21
Well, can we have a second drumroll, please? | 6:21:21 | 6:21:23
DRUMROLL | 6:21:23 | 6:21:25
Sam... | 6:21:25 | 6:21:26
..there it is. | 6:21:27 | 6:21:29
What do you... Can we have a round of applause? | 6:21:29 | 6:21:31
APPLAUSE | 6:21:31 | 6:21:32
What do you think of that? | 6:21:32 | 6:21:34
It's really good! | 6:21:34 | 6:21:36
You made that! That was you! | 6:21:36 | 6:21:39
The craft, the detail. | 6:21:39 | 6:21:40
I think that has just become my favourite | 6:21:40 | 6:21:43
of all the Blue Peter badges. | 6:21:43 | 6:21:44
Now, Sam, it is at this point that I say, | 6:21:45 | 6:21:47
how are you going to earn your one of these? | 6:21:47 | 6:21:50
Even the winner of a Blue Peter sport badge competition | 6:21:50 | 6:21:52
doesn't get to keep the badge, you've got to earn it. | 6:21:52 | 6:21:54
-So what sport are you going to do? -Cricket. | 6:21:54 | 6:21:56
And who are you going to inspire? | 6:21:56 | 6:21:57
Uh... | 6:21:57 | 6:21:59 | |
A football friend. | 6:21:59 | 6:22:00
Straight up top. If you'd like to earn yours, | 6:22:00 | 6:22:02
all you've got to do is watch next week's show, | 6:22:02 | 6:22:04
it is as simple as that. | 6:22:04 | 6:22:05
And the runners-up designs are all on the Blue Peter website. | 6:22:05 | 6:22:08
So, one more time, baby - can we please give it up | 6:22:11 | 6:22:13
for our competition winner, Sam? | 6:22:13 | 6:22:14
APPLAUSE | 6:22:14 | 6:22:17
So it's from one winner to another. | 6:22:17 | 6:22:20
The artist with the most viewer votes tonight, and therefore | 6:22:22 | 6:22:25
winner of The Voice 2016 is... | 6:22:25 | 6:22:29
SHOUTING AND CHEERING | 6:22:31 | 6:22:33
..it's Kevin! | 6:22:43 | 6:22:44
APPLAUSE AND CHEERING | 6:22:44 | 6:22:49
And here he is now, it's Kevin Simm, everybody! | 6:22:54 | 6:22:57
APPLAUSE | 6:22:57 | 6:22:59
Wow, Kevin, what a whirlwind. Congratulations, | 6:22:59 | 6:23:02
and I should say welcome to Blue Peter, but, really, | 6:23:02 | 6:23:05
it's welcome back, cos you were on this show, was it ten years ago, | 6:23:05 | 6:23:09
with the pop band Liberty X that you were in. | 6:23:09 | 6:23:11
I think we've got a nice little picture here of you | 6:23:11 | 6:23:13
-in your dashing vest and jeans. -Yes. -It's a good look, Kevin. | 6:23:13 | 6:23:16
Thanks, well, I've got a vest on under here. | 6:23:16 | 6:23:19
I'm glad you've come in the shirt today. | 6:23:19 | 6:23:21
Good move. Now, oh, my goodness, you won The Voice. | 6:23:21 | 6:23:23
How are you feeling? Is that a silly question? | 6:23:23 | 6:23:25
-No, well, it's just been a bit of a whirlwind, like you say. -Yeah. | 6:23:25 | 6:23:29
Yeah, it's just been amazing, the last week's been brilliant, | 6:23:29 | 6:23:32
and, obviously, getting to come on Blue Peter is a massive thing. | 6:23:32 | 6:23:35
Dreams can come true! | 6:23:35 | 6:23:36
-Of course. -Officially. You've got your own BP badge. | 6:23:36 | 6:23:38
Of course, all the judges turned for you, | 6:23:38 | 6:23:40
which must have felt incredible, | 6:23:40 | 6:23:42
but will.i.am said you had the best voice in the music industry. | 6:23:42 | 6:23:45
Quite a statement, there, isn't it? | 6:23:45 | 6:23:46
Yeah, I'm not sure what to make of that, | 6:23:46 | 6:23:48
but it was amazing to get such comments | 6:23:48 | 6:23:50
of someone like will.i.am. Amazing. | 6:23:50 | 6:23:53
And you've won The Voice, so what's next? An album, hopefully? | 6:23:53 | 6:23:56
Yeah, I'm going to be writing an album, | 6:23:56 | 6:23:59
pretty much straight away, I guess. I'll go home and see my kids | 6:23:59 | 6:24:01
-and my wife and have a bit of time with them. -Have a bit of chill time. | 6:24:01 | 6:24:04
Before you go home and chill, you're going to be singing your single | 6:24:04 | 6:24:07
a little bit later on, aren't you? | 6:24:07 | 6:24:09
Yeah, I'll be singing my single, All You Good Friends, | 6:24:09 | 6:24:11
so I hope everyone at home enjoys it. | 6:24:11 | 6:24:14
It is very catchy. Warning: It will be in your head all night. | 6:24:14 | 6:24:16
Kevin, we can't wait, thank you. Kevin Simm, everybody! | 6:24:16 | 6:24:19
APPLAUSE | 6:24:19 | 6:24:20
Congratulations. | 6:24:20 | 6:24:22
Earlier in the show, we asked you if you could meet any animal, | 6:24:22 | 6:24:25
what would it be and why? | 6:24:25 | 6:24:27
Lots of you have got in touch. Amber Hyperlima says, | 6:24:27 | 6:24:29
"I'd like to meet a sloth, because its long arms | 6:24:29 | 6:24:32
"look like it would give you a big cuddle." | 6:24:32 | 6:24:34
-That's nice! -Aww, they're so sleepy, sloths, as well, they're lovely. | 6:24:34 | 6:24:38
Red Violet Quick Kudu says, | 6:24:38 | 6:24:40
"I would meet an orang-utan, because I wrote a story about me | 6:24:40 | 6:24:43
"and an orang-utan presenting Blue Peter." | 6:24:43 | 6:24:45
-Wow! -That's a dream and a half. | 6:24:45 | 6:24:47
I like that, that would be a good show. | 6:24:47 | 6:24:49
Ivory Musical Seahorse says, "I'd meet a unicorn," | 6:24:49 | 6:24:51
-mythical creature, but we'll go with it anyway. -That's fine. | 6:24:51 | 6:24:53
Says, "I love unicorns, and it would fly around America!" | 6:24:53 | 6:24:56
Because why not? | 6:24:56 | 6:24:58
Pearl Flowery Antelope says, "A lettuce leaf sea slug, | 6:24:58 | 6:25:01
"because I want to know what one really looks like." | 6:25:01 | 6:25:03
So do I, what even is that? Sounds great. | 6:25:03 | 6:25:05
Now, if you were online earlier on our fan club, | 6:25:05 | 6:25:07
you will know that we were playing | 6:25:07 | 6:25:09
Presenter Bingo, and I... Thanks for coming closer! | 6:25:09 | 6:25:11
I said the word "teddy bear" when I was holding the armadillo, | 6:25:11 | 6:25:14
and the person that won that was Jet Awful Prince, | 6:25:14 | 6:25:18
a massive well done to you. | 6:25:18 | 6:25:20
Whilst you are online, try the new Shakespeare quiz, it's called | 6:25:20 | 6:25:23
Two Bees Or Not Two Bees? | 6:25:23 | 6:25:24
We've got Shakespeare pictures, | 6:25:24 | 6:25:26
and you've either got two bees or you don't! | 6:25:26 | 6:25:28
That's it for this week, but make sure you are watching next week, | 6:25:28 | 6:25:31
it's all about Team GB, because we will be showing you | 6:25:31 | 6:25:34
how you can earn your very own Blue Peter Team GB sport badge. | 6:25:34 | 6:25:38
I definitely want one. | 6:25:38 | 6:25:40
As well as that, I am going to be playing hockey | 6:25:40 | 6:25:42
with Team GB, right there, | 6:25:42 | 6:25:44
you can see me having a go. Uh, not very good! | 6:25:44 | 6:25:47
I give roller derby a go, and if you think you were bad at that, | 6:25:47 | 6:25:50
I was really bad at roller derby. I fell over a lot! | 6:25:50 | 6:25:52
As well as that, we're joined in the studio by super-scientist Greg Foot. | 6:25:52 | 6:25:55
We're talking about sport and speed, it's going to be cool. | 6:25:55 | 6:25:58
But now, it's time to put your hands together for | 6:25:58 | 6:26:01
the man, the myth, the legend, Kevin Simm. | 6:26:01 | 6:26:03
