Ladies and gentlemen, today's show is about bakes, | 7:00:04 | 7:00:09
Barlow and big badge news. BELL RINGS | 7:00:09 | 7:00:13
Er, Radz, what are you wearing? | 7:00:13 | 7:00:15
A wrestling outfit. | 7:00:15 | 7:00:17
I think you should get changed. | 7:00:17 | 7:00:19
Hello and welcome. | 7:00:35 | 7:00:37
We're so excited because it's the first live Blue Peter of 2017. | 7:00:37 | 7:00:41
-It's nice to be back. -A-woo-hoo. -It's good to be back. -Nice cuddle. | 7:00:41 | 7:00:44
Now, there are two very good reasons why I was wearing wrestling Lycra | 7:00:44 | 7:00:47
earlier and let me just tell you about that because, | 7:00:47 | 7:00:50
if there's one thing I love, it's wrestling, | 7:00:50 | 7:00:52
so please make absolute massive amounts of noise for | 7:00:52 | 7:00:55
WWE announcers Michael Cole and Nigel McGuinness. | 7:00:55 | 7:00:58
-What's up, guys? -So good to see you. -Welcome. -How are you? | 7:01:00 | 7:01:03
-Really good, really good. -Welcome to Blue Peter. -Look how excited he is. | 7:01:03 | 7:01:06
I'm excited too. | 7:01:06 | 7:01:07
This is very, very special for me, I have to say this, by the way. | 7:01:07 | 7:01:10
Michael, what brings you to the UK? | 7:01:10 | 7:01:12
This weekend, Saturday and Sunday, | 7:01:12 | 7:01:14
eight o'clock Greenwich meantime, WWE Network, | 7:01:14 | 7:01:17
we are crowning the first-ever WWE United Kingdom Champion. | 7:01:17 | 7:01:22
-But we have breaking news for you guys. -Go on, go on. -Exclusive. | 7:01:22 | 7:01:25
First time ever seen anywhere in the entire world, | 7:01:25 | 7:01:28
the brand-new United Kingdom Championship. | 7:01:28 | 7:01:31
There it is, guys. | 7:01:31 | 7:01:33
As they say in Blue Peter, here's one I made earlier. | 7:01:33 | 7:01:37
How strong is your grip though, Nigel, cos Radzi is going | 7:01:37 | 7:01:39
to try and take that from you within this interview, I would imagine. | 7:01:39 | 7:01:42
-He can try. -Can I hold it, please? -Nah-ah-ah! -OK, fine. | 7:01:42 | 7:01:45
But you used to be a wrestler. You're now a commentator. | 7:01:45 | 7:01:48
How was that transition? | 7:01:48 | 7:01:49
A little bumpy at first, I'll be honest, | 7:01:49 | 7:01:51
but now it's a dream come true, just like being on Blue Peter. | 7:01:51 | 7:01:54
-Less bumpy than being in the ring, though, of course. -Little bit. | 7:01:54 | 7:01:57
If we can utilise your announcing skills, | 7:01:57 | 7:01:59
we do have a big announcement | 7:01:59 | 7:02:00
-that we'd like you to make for us if that's possible. -Sure. -Yes. | 7:02:00 | 7:02:03
-Are you ready? -Go on, go for it. | 7:02:03 | 7:02:05
From Salford, United Kingdom, weighing in at 2g... | 7:02:05 | 7:02:09
The new, recycled blue badge! | 7:02:09 | 7:02:13
-Have a look at that. -There he goes. -What an entrance. | 7:02:15 | 7:02:19
That's right, that's a man covered in blue badges and the reason | 7:02:19 | 7:02:22
for this is we are all wearing our brand-new blue badges. | 7:02:22 | 7:02:26
Now, these are made from recycled plastic. They are so special. | 7:02:26 | 7:02:29
But do not fear. | 7:02:29 | 7:02:30
If you've got an old badge, you can still get into | 7:02:30 | 7:02:33
over 200 attractions across the UK... | 7:02:33 | 7:02:36
ALL: ..for free. | 7:02:36 | 7:02:38
All the details you need are on the Blue Peter website. | 7:02:38 | 7:02:41
-How cool is that? Just like the green badge now. -It's awesome. | 7:02:41 | 7:02:44
-Looking good. -Guys, would you be up for sticking around | 7:02:44 | 7:02:46
-a little bit later on to do some announcing? -Of course. -Of course. | 7:02:46 | 7:02:49
In which case, over to you lovely lot at home. | 7:02:49 | 7:02:52
Jump onto the Blue Peter website and tell us what announcement | 7:02:52 | 7:02:54
you'd like these legends to make. It can be anything. Be creative. | 7:02:54 | 7:02:58
It really can be absolutely anything. | 7:02:58 | 7:02:59
So maybe Mum says to you, "Boys, dinner's on the table." | 7:02:59 | 7:03:02
How would that sound for you to announce it? | 7:03:02 | 7:03:04
Boys, dinner's on the table! | 7:03:04 | 7:03:07
While you're there leaving your comments as well, | 7:03:07 | 7:03:10
don't forget to Spot Shelley. | 7:03:10 | 7:03:11
You know she will appear somewhere throughout the show. | 7:03:11 | 7:03:14
All you've got to do is spot her and the first person to get | 7:03:14 | 7:03:16
in touch wins their own Chihuahua called Chiwee. | 7:03:16 | 7:03:18
No, that's not right. | 7:03:18 | 7:03:20
You guys are here which we're so excited about today, we're going | 7:03:20 | 7:03:23
to play a little game, so let's walk this way for Clash Of The Clips. | 7:03:23 | 7:03:28
Let's go. | 7:03:28 | 7:03:30
This is going to be so exciting. Everyone get into your positions. | 7:03:30 | 7:03:34
It's going to be Barney versus Radzi. | 7:03:34 | 7:03:36
-Are you guys up for playing? -Of course. | 7:03:36 | 7:03:38
Now, Barney and Radzi, | 7:03:38 | 7:03:39
don't get too excited but I want to show you what you could win today. | 7:03:39 | 7:03:43
Have a look at this. | 7:03:43 | 7:03:44
Not only could you be Clash Of The Clips champion... | 7:03:44 | 7:03:48
-It's Badge Man! -You could be taking this home. How amazing is that? | 7:03:48 | 7:03:53
See, I've seen pictures on Radzi's wall of him wearing just a badge. | 7:03:53 | 7:03:58
-No. -I'm going to kick us off. You guys are ready, aren't you? | 7:03:58 | 7:04:01
Absolutely. | 7:04:01 | 7:04:02
Michael and Nigel, I'm going to be showing you clips from 2016 on | 7:04:02 | 7:04:06
Blue Peter. All the fun we've been up to. | 7:04:06 | 7:04:08
Barney and Radzi aren't going to see these clips... | 7:04:08 | 7:04:10
It's going to be hard, this. | 7:04:10 | 7:04:11
..so it's going to be up to you to commentate to do your best to | 7:04:11 | 7:04:14
describe what's going on so that they can each try and win a point. | 7:04:14 | 7:04:17
Barney, Radz, if you think you know what's going on | 7:04:17 | 7:04:19
from the descriptions, buzz in as quick as you can but... | 7:04:19 | 7:04:22
but it's worth saying you've only got one try at this. | 7:04:22 | 7:04:26
If you get it wrong, it will be passed to the other player. | 7:04:26 | 7:04:28
Please tell me you understand cos I'm really tired. | 7:04:28 | 7:04:31
-No, could you say all that again? -No, I can't. | 7:04:31 | 7:04:32
I only remember that bit. OK. Are you ready? | 7:04:32 | 7:04:35
Let's play Clash Of The Clips. | 7:04:35 | 7:04:38
# Row, row, row your boat | 7:04:38 | 7:04:39
-# Gently down the stream... # -BELL RINGS | 7:04:39 | 7:04:42
-I'm going for the obvious tin bath race. -Yes, correct. | 7:04:42 | 7:04:45
Barney, you got a point. OK, next clip. | 7:04:45 | 7:04:47
People that know you, Nigel, they will understand this because | 7:04:48 | 7:04:51
this is something that is sort of your second hobby. | 7:04:51 | 7:04:54
They are wrapping a woman in a red curtain. | 7:04:54 | 7:04:57
People who don't know me will have no idea at all but, nonetheless, | 7:04:57 | 7:05:00
-she is lying on a table... -BELL RINGS | 7:05:00 | 7:05:04
-BARNEY: -We had a magician on the show, didn't we, | 7:05:04 | 7:05:07
who made Lindsey levitate? | 7:05:07 | 7:05:08
Jamie Raven. Well done. Next clip, let's have a look. | 7:05:08 | 7:05:12
Now, this I've been looking at all day and I think we're in | 7:05:12 | 7:05:15
Jurassic Park right now. | 7:05:15 | 7:05:17
-I mean, this is like... -BUZZER | 7:05:17 | 7:05:19
That was the thing where, Barney, | 7:05:19 | 7:05:20
you went into a special place in Dundee... It had... | 7:05:20 | 7:05:22
-Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. -No! -No, Radz, no. -No! | 7:05:22 | 7:05:25
There is a big, big, like, spike and a hammer and what is...? | 7:05:25 | 7:05:29
-Chipping away and we see inside for the first time. -Any idea, Barney? | 7:05:29 | 7:05:33
What is it? It's dark, it's calcified, perhaps. | 7:05:33 | 7:05:36
-There is a fossil. -Oh, no! | 7:05:36 | 7:05:38
-It was the excavation of the Mary Rose that Radzi did. -Well played. | 7:05:38 | 7:05:42
Next clip, this is awesome. | 7:05:42 | 7:05:44
Er, why is this woman hanging upside down 100 feet in the air? | 7:05:44 | 7:05:49
-BUZZER -Flying through the... | 7:05:49 | 7:05:51
Surely it's got to be the bungee jump from the triathlon. | 7:05:51 | 7:05:53
-No! -No! | 7:05:53 | 7:05:56
-Keep going, guys. -Flying through the air. -Crop-dusting, I believe. | 7:05:56 | 7:06:00
-Wind through the hair. -Go on. | 7:06:00 | 7:06:02
This is the only time Blue Peter presenters have passed | 7:06:02 | 7:06:04
-the baton in the wing-walking challenge. -Correct. | 7:06:04 | 7:06:07
Best day of mine and Radzi's life. OK, next one. | 7:06:07 | 7:06:10
This is one of the greatest competitions in mankind's history. | 7:06:10 | 7:06:14
-It takes, well, teamwork, Nigel. -Teamwork. | 7:06:14 | 7:06:18
Put your hands together and pull as hard as you can. | 7:06:18 | 7:06:22
-BUZZER -Pull! | 7:06:22 | 7:06:23
Oh, Radzi, have a go. | 7:06:23 | 7:06:24
-I've lost all my instincts but it's got to be tug-of-war. -Correct! -Yes! | 7:06:24 | 7:06:28
At the end of that... The score is 3-1 to Barney! | 7:06:28 | 7:06:35
I bet you're happy about that. How are you feeling? | 7:06:37 | 7:06:39
I genuinely am really happy about that but | 7:06:39 | 7:06:41
can I just say, because I love him so much, I know that he wants it. | 7:06:41 | 7:06:44
-You will wear this better than anybody. -Thank you. | 7:06:44 | 7:06:46
-Look at his little face. -He's got the body for it. | 7:06:46 | 7:06:48
I might have lost but it doesn't matter, I've got the belt! | 7:06:48 | 7:06:51
How fun was that to see what we got up to on Blue Peter last year? | 7:06:51 | 7:06:54
-What a year you guys had. I man, it was incredible. -I know. | 7:06:54 | 7:06:57
-Going to be watching? -What a fantastic 2016, 100%, yeah. | 7:06:57 | 7:07:00
-OK, watch every ep in 2017, please. -Do you know what...? -Promise. | 7:07:00 | 7:07:05
The way we ended 2016 was awesome and it was with something | 7:07:05 | 7:07:08
very special about the sport badge. Take a look at this. | 7:07:08 | 7:07:11
Last year, over 10,000 of you applied for a Blue Peter sport badge | 7:07:13 | 7:07:19
and one of those, Oscar, got to be on the judging panel for | 7:07:19 | 7:07:22
Young Sports Personality Of The Year. | 7:07:22 | 7:07:25
I think it might be hard to pick out of the two because you can't | 7:07:25 | 7:07:27
really let one win because they are both very similar. | 7:07:27 | 7:07:31
They narrowed down the finalists to a top three. | 7:07:31 | 7:07:34
A few weeks later the winner was announced. | 7:07:34 | 7:07:37
Ellie Robinson! | 7:07:37 | 7:07:39
Congratulations, Ellie. | 7:07:40 | 7:07:42
She'll be in Birmingham for Sports Personality Of The Year 2016 | 7:07:42 | 7:07:47
and that's exactly where Oscar and I are heading. | 7:07:47 | 7:07:50
It's just 24 hours until | 7:07:50 | 7:07:51
one of the biggest dates in the sporting calendar. | 7:07:51 | 7:07:54
Rehearsals are very much under way and I'm here with Oscar. | 7:07:54 | 7:07:58
-You all right? -I am all right and we're going to be finding out | 7:07:58 | 7:08:01
just what it takes to put on this sporting super-sized spectacular. | 7:08:01 | 7:08:05
And what are you up to? | 7:08:05 | 7:08:06
I'll be meeting some massive sporting stars and have | 7:08:06 | 7:08:09
a go at some of this TV presenting. | 7:08:09 | 7:08:11
Oscar, you nailed that link. | 7:08:11 | 7:08:13
I don't see how you make presenting look that hard, Radzi. | 7:08:13 | 7:08:17
'Cheeky! | 7:08:18 | 7:08:20
'This arena is huge! | 7:08:21 | 7:08:23
'It's fascinating to watch every detail of the live show being | 7:08:23 | 7:08:26
'rehearsed, but Oscar gets to do more than just watch.' | 7:08:26 | 7:08:30
There he is. Off he goes. | 7:08:30 | 7:08:32
'He actually gets on stage.' | 7:08:32 | 7:08:34
Er...thank you... | 7:08:34 | 7:08:36
world, for this amazing trophy. | 7:08:36 | 7:08:39
Mate, you've just been on stage, | 7:08:39 | 7:08:41
you've actually been on the Sports Personality stage and held a trophy. | 7:08:41 | 7:08:45
It's a very heavy trophy. | 7:08:45 | 7:08:47
'We know that Oscar one day dreams of becoming a sports broadcaster, | 7:08:47 | 7:08:51
'so who better to talk to than Clare Balding and Gabby Logan?' | 7:08:51 | 7:08:56
-You are two of the most top sport presenters. -Thanks, Oscar. | 7:08:56 | 7:09:00
Do you have any tips how I can make my way to the top to be like you? | 7:09:00 | 7:09:03
You have to have a very good short-term memory, actually, | 7:09:03 | 7:09:06
-to be fair. -Do you have a good short-term memory? | 7:09:06 | 7:09:09
-I think so. -What are our names again? | 7:09:09 | 7:09:11
-Gabby and Clare. -No, other way round. | 7:09:11 | 7:09:13
THEY LAUGH | 7:09:13 | 7:09:15
You have a great job and what are the coolest things about being | 7:09:15 | 7:09:20
a sport presenter? | 7:09:20 | 7:09:22
We're very, very privileged to be in some of those great arenas | 7:09:22 | 7:09:25
and those great moments and be able to speak to those people in the | 7:09:25 | 7:09:28
heat of battle. You know, they've just finished their moment | 7:09:28 | 7:09:31
and we get to stick a microphone | 7:09:31 | 7:09:32
under their nose and ask them the questions. | 7:09:32 | 7:09:34
It's like taking an exam in your favourite subject every | 7:09:34 | 7:09:37
single day and I quite like that. | 7:09:37 | 7:09:39
Thanks so much for answering all my questions. See you tomorrow, then. | 7:09:39 | 7:09:42
-Yeah. -Can I keep this? Do I get to keep this? | 7:09:42 | 7:09:45
'Of course you do, Gabby.' | 7:09:45 | 7:09:47
Good evening and welcome to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2016. | 7:09:47 | 7:09:54
'As the show begins, Oscar and I head backstage to interview some of | 7:09:55 | 7:09:59
'our sporting heroes and find out | 7:09:59 | 7:10:02
'what Sports Personality means to them.' | 7:10:02 | 7:10:04
It's a really special occasion because it celebrates, you know, | 7:10:04 | 7:10:07
all the fantastic British sport, but also for us as athletes to be | 7:10:07 | 7:10:10
able to see our other fellow athletes. | 7:10:10 | 7:10:12
Normally when we go to events, we're all paraded around as the | 7:10:12 | 7:10:15
Olympian, which is nice, but it's also nice to go to an event and sort | 7:10:15 | 7:10:18
of feel normal and be surrounded by people in the same job as us. | 7:10:18 | 7:10:22
Do you have any advice for the people watching out here? | 7:10:22 | 7:10:26
I think the best piece of advice is to just work incredibly hard | 7:10:26 | 7:10:29
and be focused on what it is that you want to do. | 7:10:29 | 7:10:31
It's incredibly difficult to become the best in the world at something, | 7:10:31 | 7:10:34
but it's all about having that ambition | 7:10:34 | 7:10:36
and being prepared to work hard. | 7:10:36 | 7:10:38
'Between them, these guys have won countless medals and championships, | 7:10:38 | 7:10:42
'but there's one thing they all want to get their hands on.' | 7:10:42 | 7:10:45
-Do I get a Blue Peter badge? -Would you want a Blue Peter badge? | 7:10:45 | 7:10:47
I've always wanted a Blue Peter badge. | 7:10:47 | 7:10:49
Well, the thing is, you have to do something to earn a badge. | 7:10:49 | 7:10:52
Have I done NOTHING to earn a badge? | 7:10:52 | 7:10:54
-We think you've earned your own badge. -Oh, my...! | 7:10:54 | 7:10:57
I'm going to cry! | 7:10:57 | 7:10:58
Thank you so much. Can I give you a hug? | 7:10:58 | 7:11:01
Oh, bless you. | 7:11:01 | 7:11:02
I think my two gold medals in two different sports is pretty up there. | 7:11:02 | 7:11:06
-I think that I'm deserving. -Hello. There you go. | 7:11:06 | 7:11:10
I love Blue Peter. | 7:11:10 | 7:11:13
'Oscar is loving interviewing the stars | 7:11:13 | 7:11:15
'and he's learning from the best.' | 7:11:15 | 7:11:17
-You're the perfect man to speak to. -Why is that? | 7:11:17 | 7:11:19
Because, Oscar, what do you want to do when you're older? | 7:11:19 | 7:11:22
Er...I want to be a sport, | 7:11:22 | 7:11:24

'an unbelievable experience for Oscar. | 7:12:44 | 7:12:46
'I'm sure this won't be the last time he rubs shoulders with | 7:12:46 | 7:12:49

'And it just goes to show you never know where applying for | 7:12:52 | 7:12:55

This year, Blue Peter is going to be bigger than ever. How big? | 7:13:13 | 7:13:19
How about a competition involving the year's biggest sporting | 7:13:19 | 7:13:23
event and two incredible judges? | 7:13:23 | 7:13:26
Or an epic joke challenge with the help from one of the biggest | 7:13:26 | 7:13:29
comedians on the planet? | 7:13:29 | 7:13:31
Have you ever heard the one about | 7:13:31 | 7:13:32
the manager who's got an orange for a head? | 7:13:32 | 7:13:35
'There'll be sporting icons...' | 7:13:35 | 7:13:37
That was just a practice shot. | 7:13:37 | 7:13:39
'..food...' | 7:13:39 | 7:13:40
-Let's do this! -'..showbiz, more of you. | 7:13:40 | 7:13:43
-'There'll even be Gary Barlow!' -RADZI DOES VOCAL EXERCISE | 7:13:43 | 7:13:48
Very good. | 7:13:48 | 7:13:49
And trust me, that's just the start of it. | 7:13:52 | 7:13:55
-So much to look forward to in 2017. -I'm excited. | 7:13:56 | 7:14:00
Just like this very special Red Nose Day competition, | 7:14:00 | 7:14:03
-which you can already take part in. -That's right. | 7:14:03 | 7:14:06
We want you to come up with three hilarious, rib-tickling jokes. | 7:14:06 | 7:14:10
-RADZI LAUGHS -Is that a rib tickle? | 7:14:10 | 7:14:12
That wasn't rib-tickling. They've got to be up to you. | 7:14:12 | 7:14:14
You've got to make us LOL and we've got three very special judges, | 7:14:14 | 7:14:18
two of them include Miranda Hart, the amazing comedian, | 7:14:18 | 7:14:20
as well as creator of Comic Relief Richard Curtis. | 7:14:20 | 7:14:24
How great are those two? | 7:14:24 | 7:14:25
What a leg-end that man is. | 7:14:25 | 7:14:26
If you want to get involved, head to the BBC website | 7:14:26 | 7:14:29
to download an application form. | 7:14:29 | 7:14:30
The competition winner will have the chance to have their joke | 7:14:30 | 7:14:33
-read out on a Red Nose Day Blue Peter special. -Cool. -It's so cool. | 7:14:33 | 7:14:36
Head to the website and download this application form if you | 7:14:36 | 7:14:39
want to be involved. Make us LOL as Lindsey would say. | 7:14:39 | 7:14:41
Or you can make it really easy for yourself and tell a teacher, | 7:14:41 | 7:14:44
so they can apply for this pack right here and that way your | 7:14:44 | 7:14:47
-whole class can get involved. -That's awesome. Do you know what, guys? | 7:14:47 | 7:14:50
-I absolutely love a competition. -Do you? -Do you know what I love more? | 7:14:50 | 7:14:53
-Go on. -This week's big badge wall. -Nice, Linds. | 7:14:53 | 7:14:56
-How good was that link? -It was OK. | 7:14:56 | 7:14:58
We're joined by Nigel and Michael again. Guys, can you do the honours? | 7:14:58 | 7:15:02
Use your amazing voices to explain this week's big badge wall. | 7:15:02 | 7:15:05
I found Shelley, so I get a prize, right? Look at this. | 7:15:05 | 7:15:09
This is incredible, isn't it? | 7:15:09 | 7:15:11
Beautiful Blue Peter ship there, sailing off into the distance. | 7:15:11 | 7:15:14
Very well drawn. | 7:15:14 | 7:15:15
And there's Shelley once again and I love on the left-hand side, | 7:15:15 | 7:15:18
look at the two kids that look like they have UFO eyes. They're aliens. | 7:15:18 | 7:15:22
-Yeah. -That's you two looking at your best there. -Yeah, it really is. | 7:15:22 | 7:15:26
Well, I've got to draw some attention to Malik from Dewsbury, | 7:15:26 | 7:15:29
-who's made this incredible picture, using cubism, of Lindsey. -Whoa. | 7:15:29 | 7:15:32
No idea how you've done it, Malik, but you are, I think, a genius. | 7:15:32 | 7:15:35
Very clever. | 7:15:35 | 7:15:36
Barney, would you like to model the next bit of post, please? | 7:15:36 | 7:15:38
-I would love to, darling. -This is from Mary from Gloucestershire. | 7:15:38 | 7:15:41
-Look at the talent and the time that's gone into this. -Yes. | 7:15:41 | 7:15:44
She's sewed together a little apron for Barney Harwood here. | 7:15:44 | 7:15:46
-How perfect is that? -It's great. | 7:15:46 | 7:15:48
-I've got a little pouch for my joey as well. -Yeah. | 7:15:48 | 7:15:50
If I was a kangaroo, that is. OK. Good. | 7:15:50 | 7:15:53
Boys, what do you think the recycled Blue Peter badges are made out of? | 7:15:53 | 7:15:56
-I know. Shark teeth. -It's not shark teeth, no. Any ideas? | 7:15:56 | 7:15:59
-I was going to go with baby teeth. -It's not baby teeth either. | 7:15:59 | 7:16:02
They're easy to collect, aren't they? No, it's actually yoghurt pots | 7:16:02 | 7:16:05
mostly, which gave me a bit of inspiration for this week's | 7:16:05 | 7:16:07
Blue Peter make. Take a look at these. | 7:16:07 | 7:16:09
-How good are they? -Look at those. -They're called Blue Peter bakes. | 7:16:09 | 7:16:12
They're designed around the badge and they're called bakes - | 7:16:12 | 7:16:14
-not quite biscuits and not quite cakes. -Nice. | 7:16:14 | 7:16:17
-Did you come up with that? -No, they did, I'm just saying it and | 7:16:17 | 7:16:19
making myself look like I know what I'm doing. | 7:16:19 | 7:16:21
So obviously you've got the main ingredients in there which | 7:16:21 | 7:16:23
-are very important, Radzi, which would be... -Yoghurt pots. -Not quite. | 7:16:23 | 7:16:26
Yoghurt. If you follow me over here, I'll show you how to make them. | 7:16:26 | 7:16:29
They're really simple. Take a look at the ingredient list. | 7:16:29 | 7:16:31
These are all the things that you're going to need. | 7:16:31 | 7:16:34
Plain flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, | 7:16:34 | 7:16:36
pinch of salt, caster sugar, egg white, 200g of yoghurt, | 7:16:36 | 7:16:38
zest from one lemon, vanilla extract, | 7:16:38 | 7:16:40
blueberries, fresh or frozen - | 7:16:40 | 7:16:42
it don't really matter, mate - and kitchen foil. | 7:16:42 | 7:16:44
I'm whizzing through this to show you, | 7:16:44 | 7:16:46
but you can go to the Blue Peter website and find | 7:16:46 | 7:16:48
everything that you need on there. So first things first, | 7:16:48 | 7:16:50
we're going to do our dry mix and when | 7:16:50 | 7:16:52
we're putting our dry mix in the oven... In the oven? | 7:16:52 | 7:16:55
In a bowl, we need to make sure that our oven is at 190, | 7:16:55 | 7:16:57
that's the temperature these are going to cook in. | 7:16:57 | 7:17:00
So that's our flour, our bicarb of soda, | 7:17:00 | 7:17:03
our baking powder and our salt. Dry mix done, it's that easy. | 7:17:03 | 7:17:06
Put it over to one side. Now we're going to do our wet mix. | 7:17:06 | 7:17:10
Now we need an egg white, which means we need to get the yolk | 7:17:10 | 7:17:12
out of the white and at the moment, they're both in the same shell. | 7:17:12 | 7:17:15
So what we do is we give it a little crack on one bowl and then very, | 7:17:15 | 7:17:18
very gently, you want to make sure the bigger half is at the bottom | 7:17:18 | 7:17:21
and you can see there the egg white just flying out, but the yolk isn't. | 7:17:21 | 7:17:24
What you want to do is just gently juggle the yolk from one shell | 7:17:24 | 7:17:27
to the other and as you're doing that, | 7:17:27 | 7:17:29
the white will fall out into the bowl below. | 7:17:29 | 7:17:32
Now, don't throw the yolk away, you might need to use that for | 7:17:32 | 7:17:34
a cake if you're making one later on, but don't waste food. | 7:17:34 | 7:17:37
OK, now we need to get a towel and wipe my whitey fingers. | 7:17:37 | 7:17:41
And then whisk the egg white in a bowl. | 7:17:41 | 7:17:43
It doesn't need to be too whisked, we're not making a meringue here, | 7:17:43 | 7:17:46
we're just making a nice frothy, bubbly mess. | 7:17:46 | 7:17:48
That'll do nicely and then we add everything else. | 7:17:48 | 7:17:50
We've got our sugar. | 7:17:50 | 7:17:52
We've got half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, or a little bit more | 7:17:52 | 7:17:56
if your name is Barney Harwood, because you know you like vanilla. | 7:17:56 | 7:17:59
Lemon zest, in it goes, and then we're going to chuck in our yoghurt. | 7:17:59 | 7:18:04
Honestly, I know I talk about this every time I do a make, | 7:18:04 | 7:18:08
but I really wish we had smelly vision. | 7:18:08 | 7:18:09
We've got to get someone to work on that, it smells so good, this. | 7:18:09 | 7:18:12
Then what we do is give it a good old whisk. | 7:18:12 | 7:18:14
That's our wet mix. | 7:18:14 | 7:18:16
And then we're going to put our dry into our wet. | 7:18:18 | 7:18:21
Don't put the wet into the dry, because it'll go all lumpy | 7:18:21 | 7:18:23
and nobody wants that in their life. | 7:18:23 | 7:18:25
OK. Good old whisk. | 7:18:25 | 7:18:27
And once you've done that for about nine years, it looks like this. | 7:18:29 | 7:18:35
Now, you're after a really big, sticky, gloopy mess. | 7:18:35 | 7:18:37
It's supposed to look like that and then once you've got your mix, | 7:18:37 | 7:18:40
you want to put it into your Blue Peter badge-shaped moulds. | 7:18:40 | 7:18:43
Now, you can't buy those, but this is Blue Peter. | 7:18:43 | 7:18:45
We can make them and if you head online to where you found the | 7:18:45 | 7:18:48
ingredients, you'll see a masterclass. | 7:18:48 | 7:18:50
It's basically me folding tinfoil to show you how to make those shapes. | 7:18:50 | 7:18:53
It's very easy to do and, of course, you have to do that before | 7:18:53 | 7:18:55
you do the next step, which is to put our mex, our MIX | 7:18:55 | 7:18:59
inside our moulds. | 7:18:59 | 7:19:01
So you want one heaped teaspoon. | 7:19:01 | 7:19:04
One teaspoon isn't enough, by the way. You need to have two teaspoons | 7:19:04 | 7:19:07
to do this and make sure it's really heaped. OK. | 7:19:07 | 7:19:10
See, I'm an expert at this, aren't I? OK. Good. | 7:19:10 | 7:19:15
There we go, right in the middle. | 7:19:15 | 7:19:17
Now, before this, I've buttered the sides of the moulds, because | 7:19:17 | 7:19:20
we don't want our bake to stick. | 7:19:20 | 7:19:22
It's really that simple. Now, when you're making the moulds, | 7:19:22 | 7:19:24
make sure that these bits here are not too tight together, | 7:19:24 | 7:19:27
because you want the biscuit to spread out when it cooks. | 7:19:27 | 7:19:29
If I lift that up, does that help? | 7:19:29 | 7:19:30
Can you see in there? You want it to fill these bits up here as well. | 7:19:30 | 7:19:33
Finishing touches before it goes into the oven, | 7:19:33 | 7:19:35
take your blueberries and just place them in there. | 7:19:35 | 7:19:39
Like that. | 7:19:39 | 7:19:40
Dead simple. OK, so our oven is now at 190. | 7:19:40 | 7:19:44
We're going to place our tray in. | 7:19:44 | 7:19:46
Don't forget, ovens are hot. | 7:19:46 | 7:19:48
I know that you know this, but you should always use an oven mitt | 7:19:48 | 7:19:51
or an oven glove if you're taking things out of an oven. | 7:19:51 | 7:19:54
And once those bakes have been in there for 10-15 minutes, | 7:19:54 | 7:19:56
they go nice and brown, and then they're ready for eating. | 7:19:56 | 7:19:59
Radzi, Lindsey, you know this bit. | 7:19:59 | 7:20:01
-You can try those ones if you want, just there. -They look nice, OK. | 7:20:01 | 7:20:05
All the ingredients and everything you need is on the | 7:20:05 | 7:20:07
-Blue Peter website, go and check it out, it's that easy. -Yummy. | 7:20:07 | 7:20:09
-They're nice, aren't they? -They're nice! | 7:20:09 | 7:20:12
-I found those out the back this morning. -I have a question. | 7:20:12 | 7:20:14
Don't talk with your mouth full. | 7:20:14 | 7:20:16
I'm sorry, my mum would be disgraced at my behaviour. | 7:20:16 | 7:20:19
OK, did you watch the BBC One show Let It Shine at the weekend? | 7:20:19 | 7:20:21
-Mmm-hmm. -I went and met Gary Barlow, didn't I? -Oh, really? | 7:20:21 | 7:20:25
-Did a Blue Peter film. Auditioned for Gary Barlow and everything. -OK. | 7:20:25 | 7:20:28
Let's have a look at this. Finish your mouthful. Swallow it. | 7:20:28 | 7:20:31
I'm here in Media City, Salford to see behind the scenes of one | 7:20:33 | 7:20:36
of the biggest shows of 2017. | 7:20:36 | 7:20:40
It's Let It Shine. | 7:20:40 | 7:20:42
For the next few months, | 7:20:42 | 7:20:43
Let It Shine is the only place to be on a Saturday night. | 7:20:43 | 7:20:47
The show is on the hunt for a boyband to perform | 7:20:47 | 7:20:50
in a brand-new musical. | 7:20:50 | 7:20:52
And it's fronted by entertainment royalty - Mr Gary Barlow. | 7:20:52 | 7:20:57
So Let It Shine are now midway through filming, | 7:21:00 | 7:21:02
and they've pretty much taken over the studios here. | 7:21:02 | 7:21:05
But we're going to get a sneak peek. | 7:21:05 | 7:21:07
(Don't say anything!) | 7:21:10 | 7:21:12
But Gary isn't alone, | 7:21:12 | 7:21:13
he's joined by all-star judges Martin Kemp, | 7:21:13 | 7:21:17
Amber Riley | 7:21:17 | 7:21:19
and Dannii Minogue | 7:21:19 | 7:21:20
to help whittle down the contestants into a five-piece band. | 7:21:20 | 7:21:24
This is where Gary and the judges will be sat, | 7:21:24 | 7:21:27
casting their opinion on the people they see. | 7:21:27 | 7:21:30
And it's all presented by | 7:21:30 | 7:21:31
Bake Off's Mel Giedroyc and Graham Norton. | 7:21:31 | 7:21:34
I completely don't remember what you asked me! | 7:21:36 | 7:21:40
It's the same old thing - he sang, what do you think? | 7:21:40 | 7:21:43
LAUGHTER | 7:21:43 | 7:21:44
It's got me thinking...judges, | 7:21:44 | 7:21:46
a talent show, | 7:21:46 | 7:21:48
boyband? | 7:21:48 | 7:21:50
I wonder if I've got what it takes? | 7:21:50 | 7:21:53
I hope I have. | 7:21:53 | 7:21:54
They don't call me the Wolverhampton Warbler for nothing. | 7:21:56 | 7:22:00
If I'm going to meet Gary Barlow, | 7:22:00 | 7:22:02
I want to show him some of my singing skills. | 7:22:02 | 7:22:05
Who knows - maybe he could pick me for the Let It Shine band? | 7:22:05 | 7:22:09
-HIGH PITCHED: -# Tra-la-la-la-la! | 7:22:13 | 7:22:14
-LOW PITCHED: -# Low, low, low, low, low. # | 7:22:14 | 7:22:18
Come on, Radzi. Come on, Radzi. | 7:22:18 | 7:22:21
Think Gary Barlow. | 7:22:21 | 7:22:23
See Gary Barlow. | 7:22:23 | 7:22:25
Be Gary Barlow. | 7:22:25 | 7:22:27
I don't know if I can do this. | 7:22:27 | 7:22:29
-Are you OK? You seem a bit down. -I am down, Graham. | 7:22:29 | 7:22:31
I don't think I can do this. I can't impress Gary Barlow. | 7:22:31 | 7:22:34
Don't forget, you have a number one single under your belt. | 7:22:34 | 7:22:38
Children In Need, two years ago. | 7:22:38 | 7:22:41
Mel's right! I do have a number one single. | 7:22:42 | 7:22:45
In a way. | 7:22:45 | 7:22:46
Have a word with yourself, young man. What is that? | 7:22:46 | 7:22:49
-That is a Blue Peter badge, and that is a passport to greatness. -It is! | 7:22:49 | 7:22:53
Greatness. | 7:22:53 | 7:22:54
Gary Barlow. I can do this! | 7:22:54 | 7:22:55
-You can! -OK! | 7:22:55 | 7:22:57
Bring it on! | 7:22:57 | 7:22:59
-Hasn't a hope. -Gary Barlow's going to be absolutely foul, isn't he? | 7:22:59 | 7:23:02
-Hate him, hate him! -Awful, awful. | 7:23:02 | 7:23:05
It's now or never, Radzi. | 7:23:05 | 7:23:07
He might have sold over 50 million records, but has one of the | 7:23:07 | 7:23:12
most famous men in British pop music ever heard anything like me before? | 7:23:12 | 7:23:17
OK, this is it, I'm going to meet the Barlow, | 7:23:17 | 7:23:21
-and I'm going to sing to him. Gary, hi! -How you doing? | 7:23:21 | 7:23:24
-# Lovely to meet you... # -Great, great. | 7:23:24 | 7:23:26
# Because we are here... # | 7:23:26 | 7:23:28
-Just having a bit of quiet time in here. -# Yes... # | 7:23:28 | 7:23:30
-Shall we just do an interview? -OK then. | 7:23:30 | 7:23:33
Yeah, that probably could have gone better. | 7:23:33 | 7:23:36
Maybe I've not got what it takes to be on the show. | 7:23:36 | 7:23:38
But Gary is more than happy to help me work on my voice. | 7:23:38 | 7:23:42
If ever you're up early, and you've got that low voice thing, you know? | 7:23:42 | 7:23:47
Brrrrrrroooo! | 7:23:47 | 7:23:49
Go as high as you can, do that. Now. | 7:23:49 | 7:23:51
Brrrrrrroooo! | 7:23:51 | 7:23:52
Very good! | 7:23:52 | 7:23:53
And again. | 7:23:53 | 7:23:54
Brrrrrrroooo! | 7:23:54 | 7:23:56
Brrrrrrroooo! | 7:23:56 | 7:23:58
It really warms your voice up. | 7:23:58 | 7:24:00
So, Let It Shine, what's it all about? | 7:24:00 | 7:24:02
It's all about making a band. | 7:24:02 | 7:24:04
We're making a band who will eventually be in a musical. | 7:24:04 | 7:24:07
But, before they get there, | 7:24:07 | 7:24:09
they're going to be competing against other bands in our show. | 7:24:09 | 7:24:12
And what are you looking for with those bands, | 7:24:12 | 7:24:14
to make the actual show? | 7:24:14 | 7:24:15
We're looking for great singers, great movers, great performers. | 7:24:15 | 7:24:20
Great acting. And stamina. | 7:24:21 | 7:24:24
And people who can work as a team. | 7:24:24 | 7:24:26
And when you list all those things, | 7:24:26 | 7:24:28
-that's quite a job list, right there. -Right. | 7:24:28 | 7:24:31
But that's what our contestants need to have. | 7:24:31 | 7:24:33
# I got the eye of the tiger | 7:24:33 | 7:24:36
# A fighter, dancing through the fire | 7:24:36 | 7:24:40
# And I am a champion | 7:24:40 | 7:24:42
# And you're going to hear me... # | 7:24:42 | 7:24:44
Are there any other things that people at home should tune in for? | 7:24:44 | 7:24:48
The main thing, obviously, because I'm on it. | 7:24:48 | 7:24:51
But, other than that... | 7:24:51 | 7:24:53
We do have an amazing judge line-up. | 7:24:53 | 7:24:55
We've got Dannii, we've got Martin Kemp, | 7:24:55 | 7:24:57
we've have a whole selection of guest judges as well, | 7:24:57 | 7:25:01
and guests on our show. | 7:25:01 | 7:25:02
You've got me very excited for it. Gary, thank you very much. | 7:25:02 | 7:25:05
You're very welcome, very welcome. | 7:25:05 | 7:25:07
What a special TV series. | 7:25:10 | 7:25:12
Well, how about a TV series special? | 7:25:12 | 7:25:15
Do you see what I did there? | 7:25:15 | 7:25:16
Match Of The Day Kickabout have done just that | 7:25:16 | 7:25:18
in the form of the world's best footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo. | 7:25:18 | 7:25:22
If you like him, you're going to love this. | 7:25:22 | 7:25:25
This is Santo Antonio, and this is where the story starts. | 7:25:25 | 7:25:29
John, it's amazing! | 7:25:29 | 7:25:31
Chance for Cristiano Ronaldo! | 7:25:31 | 7:25:34
This is where Ronaldo first kicked off his football career. | 7:25:34 | 7:25:37
It's been inspiring, it's been amazing. | 7:25:37 | 7:25:41
It really will be special. | 7:25:44 | 7:25:45
Make sure you watch that at 7:45 on Saturday morning. | 7:25:45 | 7:25:49
-Stop it! -Now, Cristiano Ron-ah-oh... | 7:25:49 | 7:25:51
-What's his name, sorry? -I don't know what his name is. | 7:25:51 | 7:25:53
It's a number of vowels. | 7:25:53 | 7:25:54
Cristiano Ronaldo might be one of the greatest footballers of | 7:25:54 | 7:25:57
all time, but John Farnworth, essentially is, | 7:25:57 | 7:26:00
in football freestyling. | 7:26:00 | 7:26:01
And if you jump onto the website, you can see him | 7:26:01 | 7:26:03
showing you how you...he... Do you know what? | 7:26:03 | 7:26:06
Blimey O'Reilly! Just go onto the website, essentially. | 7:26:06 | 7:26:09
Right, listen up, everyone, it's time to focus, | 7:26:09 | 7:26:11
because earlier in the show we asked you to get in touch with us, | 7:26:11 | 7:26:14
and let us know what you would like these legends to read out. | 7:26:14 | 7:26:17
We said it could be anything. | 7:26:17 | 7:26:18
Guys, have we got some good ones there? | 7:26:18 | 7:26:20
Beige Athletic Bear - | 7:26:20 | 7:26:21
"I like to dress up as an Egyptian mummy and do ballroom dancing!" | 7:26:21 | 7:26:26
Yes! | 7:26:26 | 7:26:27 | |
-Nice! -Amazing! | 7:26:27 | 7:26:29
And this is from Sebbo - | 7:26:29 | 7:26:30
"I want a custard pie in my face!" | 7:26:30 | 7:26:35
Beautiful. How about Pink Sparkly Football - | 7:26:35 | 7:26:38
"I wish I could fly in the sky and eat a pie, | 7:26:38 | 7:26:41
"wearing a yellow-and-blue striped tie!" | 7:26:41 | 7:26:44
-Yeah, a poem! -You guys are so good at this. Carry on, please! | 7:26:44 | 7:26:48
This is from Amethyst Bright Starfruit - | 7:26:48 | 7:26:52
"I wish I was a pink fairy made of glitter." | 7:26:52 | 7:26:55
LAUGHTER | 7:26:55 | 7:26:57
-BARNEY: -That would go down so well in a wrestling ring. | 7:26:57 | 7:27:01
Can we get just a copy of that clip? That's perfect. | 7:27:01 | 7:27:04
Let's do Spot Shelley, shall we? | 7:27:04 | 7:27:05
Because, for the first time ever, nobody has spotted Shelley. | 7:27:05 | 7:27:09
Now, a lot of people have said she was on the badge wall. | 7:27:09 | 7:27:11
That was what Michael said, but that wasn't the real Shelley. | 7:27:11 | 7:27:14
Shelley was actually right here, on Nigel's headset. | 7:27:14 | 7:27:17
Look how small she is! In fairness, she is really tiny. | 7:27:17 | 7:27:20
For once, I think we won Spot Shelley, that means. | 7:27:20 | 7:27:23
-That means we've got the prizes! -Yay! | 7:27:23 | 7:27:25
Don't leave me hanging on live TV. | 7:27:25 | 7:27:27
-Thank you very much... -I'll give you a high one. -Thanks, Barn. | 7:27:27 | 7:27:29
That's just about all we have time for today, | 7:27:29 | 7:27:31
but make sure you're jumping straight onto the fan club | 7:27:31 | 7:27:34
as soon as the show's over with Michael and Nigel and ask them any | 7:27:34 | 7:27:36
wrestling questions your heart desires. | 7:27:36 | 7:27:38
-Guys, do you know what a listicle is? -No, Linz. | 7:27:38 | 7:27:41
Me neither, but we've got one online, | 7:27:41 | 7:27:42
telling you all about the things that happen in January. | 7:27:42 | 7:27:45
-So go and add to it. -Next week is a purple badge show, | 7:27:45 | 7:27:47
which means you've requested everything on the show, | 7:27:47 | 7:27:50
including Hollywood animation and The Vamps. | 7:27:50 | 7:27:52
You're going to love it, see you then. Boys, give us a wave. | 7:27:52 | 7:27:54
-See you then! -Bye-bye! -Bye-bye! | 7:27:54 | 7:27:56 |
