-Hello! -Hello! -And welcome to live Blue Peter. | 7:02:45 | 7:02:49
Radz, I know I'm a good dancer. | 7:02:49 | 7:02:50
I've actually come up with another move. | 7:02:50 | 7:02:52
-Have you? -Yeah, I think you'll like it. | 7:02:52 | 7:02:54
-Let's see. -It's called the Lindsey Jolly dance. | 7:02:54 | 7:02:56
-It goes something like this. -Sounds familiar. | 7:02:56 | 7:02:58
It's good, isn't it? It's all mine. Thought it was fantastic. | 7:02:59 | 7:03:03
Let's start the show, shall we? | 7:03:03 | 7:03:05
We've got singer-songwriter superstar | 7:03:05 | 7:03:07
Gavin James, who will be performing live in this very studio. | 7:03:07 | 7:03:10
-Oh - everybody's very excited today, which I like. -Woo! | 7:03:10 | 7:03:14
See what happened when Barney took on a challenge that took skill, | 7:03:14 | 7:03:17
determination and the will to win. | 7:03:17 | 7:03:19
Of course, I'm talking about the World Pasty Championships. | 7:03:19 | 7:03:22
-That's a real thing. -It's a real thing. | 7:03:22 | 7:03:24
You notice that Barney is not here. | 7:03:24 | 7:03:26
However, he'll be back in two weeks. | 7:03:26 | 7:03:28
Cannot wait for that, but somebody who is here...it's Shelley. | 7:03:28 | 7:03:32
-Hi, Shells. -Can you spot her? | 7:03:32 | 7:03:33
Keep your eyes peeled throughout the show. | 7:03:33 | 7:03:35
There she is. She gone. | 7:03:35 | 7:03:36
She really is gone. | 7:03:36 | 7:03:39
I've got a question for you. | 7:03:39 | 7:03:40
Do you know the difference between an air flare and top rock? | 7:03:40 | 7:03:44
-No. -No, me neither. | 7:03:44 | 7:03:45
I have no idea what I'm talking about. | 7:03:45 | 7:03:47
These guys, luckily, do. Take it away! | 7:03:47 | 7:03:49

Everyone is thinking it - "How? Wow!" | 7:05:28 | 7:05:31
-Unbelievable. -You've really shown me up, guys. | 7:05:31 | 7:05:33
I thought I was doing all right in the opening titles. | 7:05:33 | 7:05:35
Brooke, Roxy, Sunni, thank you so much for joining us. | 7:05:35 | 7:05:38
Sunni, I'll start with yourself. I know you are very out of breath. | 7:05:38 | 7:05:40
It's a very important time for you guys, right now. | 7:05:40 | 7:05:43
Yeah, we actually a month away from the UK B-Boy Championships. | 7:05:43 | 7:05:46
It's one of the biggest championships in the world | 7:05:46 | 7:05:49
for break dancing, popping, locking... | 7:05:49 | 7:05:51
So it's on April 9th. | 7:05:51 | 7:05:52
I love that you checked your watch, that you're not wearing! | 7:05:52 | 7:05:55
-LAUGHING: -Yeah! April 9th. | 7:05:55 | 7:05:56
We've got just under a month. | 7:05:56 | 7:05:58
That's the worlds - you're familiar with the World Championships. | 7:05:58 | 7:06:01
Yeah, I'm the current solo b-boy champ. | 7:06:01 | 7:06:03
Round of applause! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE | 7:06:03 | 7:06:05
-Awesome. -That's ridiculous. | 7:06:05 | 7:06:06
Roxy, you've actually got a world record - is that correct? | 7:06:06 | 7:06:09
Yeah. I hold the record for most head spins in a minute. | 7:06:09 | 7:06:12
We've got to see that - would you mind showing us? | 7:06:12 | 7:06:14
-Yeah. -OK. do it. I'm very excited. | 7:06:14 | 7:06:17
Don't try this at home, by the way. | 7:06:17 | 7:06:19
Unless your name is Roxy... | 7:06:19 | 7:06:20
-Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. She's off. -No! -There she goes. | 7:06:20 | 7:06:23
No... | 7:06:23 | 7:06:25 | |
LINDSEY SCREAMS | 7:06:25 | 7:06:26
WHOOPING | 7:06:29 | 7:06:31
Whoa! | 7:06:31 | 7:06:34 | |
-Look at that! -Oh, wow! -Incredible. -Just like it's no big deal. | 7:06:34 | 7:06:38
-Do you need a sick bucket? Are you OK? -I'm fine. | 7:06:38 | 7:06:41
Sunni, question - you mentioned B-Boy Championships. | 7:06:41 | 7:06:43
What actually is a b-boy? | 7:06:43 | 7:06:45
-B-boying... -Mic, Linz. -Oh, sorry. | 7:06:45 | 7:06:47
-It's more commonly known as break dancing. -OK. | 7:06:47 | 7:06:50
And Brooke, you do something slightly different to them. | 7:06:50 | 7:06:53
-Yeah, popping. -Popping? | 7:06:53 | 7:06:55
-Can we see some popping? -Of course. | 7:06:55 | 7:06:57
Boom! Pow! Boom! Boom! Boom! | 7:06:57 | 7:07:00
Wow...yeah! | 7:07:00 | 7:07:02
Do you have to make that noise when you do it? | 7:07:02 | 7:07:04
-It makes it look better. -I'll remember that! | 7:07:04 | 7:07:06
I've heard you talk about a thing called locking. | 7:07:06 | 7:07:08
First of all, what actually is that? | 7:07:08 | 7:07:10
Locking... | 7:07:10 | 7:07:11
-A lock is another word for a stop. -OK. | 7:07:11 | 7:07:13
Yeah, so locking is locks, rolls, points...jumps... | 7:07:13 | 7:07:18
-Wow... -Look at that. -Oh, my goodness. | 7:07:18 | 7:07:20
And what's the key to a good lock? | 7:07:20 | 7:07:22
Strength, power, funkiness. | 7:07:22 | 7:07:24
-I like it. -Being on the music. | 7:07:24 | 7:07:26
All words that we do not possess. However, we'd love to give it a go. | 7:07:26 | 7:07:29
Speak for yourself, Radzi Chinyanganya! | 7:07:29 | 7:07:31
Wait till you see this. | 7:07:31 | 7:07:32
It's Blue Peter, we love having a go. | 7:07:32 | 7:07:34
Do you think, if I give you the mic, and you can commentate, | 7:07:34 | 7:07:36
you can teach Radz a move? | 7:07:36 | 7:07:37
-He needs the help. -We can. -As you saw, I'm the pro. | 7:07:37 | 7:07:40
-Off you go, Radz. -Bold, from Russell. | 7:07:40 | 7:07:41
-OK. So, Sunni is going to show you a knee drop. -OK. | 7:07:41 | 7:07:45
-Oh, oh... -Uh! Uh! | 7:07:45 | 7:07:47
-Nothing to it. -Simple, simple. | 7:07:47 | 7:07:49
So, you're going to start with your left leg out. | 7:07:49 | 7:07:51
-Yes. -Then you're going to switch it, so your right leg comes up, | 7:07:51 | 7:07:54
and then your right leg goes behind your knee, | 7:07:54 | 7:07:57
and then goes onto the floor, so your foot is on the floor. | 7:07:57 | 7:07:59
-Careful, Radz. -Spin around. -OK, spin around. | 7:07:59 | 7:08:01
And then you pose - uh! | 7:08:01 | 7:08:03
Oh! Oh! Oh! | 7:08:03 | 7:08:04
We're not done yet. | 7:08:04 | 7:08:06
-Not done yet? OK. -Right, so, we're going to do the same thing again, | 7:08:06 | 7:08:09
but this time, no hands on the floor. | 7:08:09 | 7:08:10
-No hands. OK, fine. -So, left leg out. | 7:08:10 | 7:08:12
-Yeah. -Switch legs. | 7:08:12 | 7:08:13
-Yeah. -Knee behind. Down. | 7:08:13 | 7:08:15
Go, go, go! Spin, spin! | 7:08:15 | 7:08:17
Uh! | 7:08:17 | 7:08:18 | |
CHEERING Hey! | 7:08:18 | 7:08:21
Shall we try a quick move? Haven't got long, but let's do it. | 7:08:21 | 7:08:24
It's going to be a bit better than theirs, don't worry. | 7:08:24 | 7:08:26
-I like that. -Have you ever seen Thunderbirds? | 7:08:26 | 7:08:28
-Yeah. -Yes. | 7:08:28 | 7:08:29
-Puppet, right? -OK. -So, we're going to lift our arm, | 7:08:29 | 7:08:33
-pretend there's a string on your wrist... -Yeah. | 7:08:33 | 7:08:35
-Other arm. -Yeah. | 7:08:35 | 7:08:36
Then collapse our knees, then collapse our heads. | 7:08:36 | 7:08:38
-Boing! -No! -Oh, wow. | 7:08:38 | 7:08:40
I feel...kind of cool. | 7:08:40 | 7:08:42
-Left, knees, head. -OK, let's put it together. | 7:08:42 | 7:08:44
Five, six, seven, eight. | 7:08:44 | 7:08:45
Boom! Boom! Boom! | 7:08:45 | 7:08:48
LAUGHING: Yeah! | 7:08:48 | 7:08:50
That was great. Thank you. Thank you for being with us. | 7:08:50 | 7:08:53
Well, Brooke, Roxy, Sunni, thank you so much for joining us, | 7:08:53 | 7:08:56
and good luck in the championships. | 7:08:56 | 7:08:58
-We showed ourselves up there a bit, didn't we? -Yep. -But fear not. | 7:08:58 | 7:09:01
Look no further than the World Pasty Championships. | 7:09:01 | 7:09:04
-That's our next calling. -What? -Have a look. | 7:09:04 | 7:09:07
This is the Eden Project, | 7:09:08 | 7:09:10
home to one of the world's largest indoor rainforests. | 7:09:10 | 7:09:13
It is quite simply stunning. | 7:09:13 | 7:09:15
Even the Latin names for these plants are incredible and beautiful. | 7:09:15 | 7:09:18
Look at this - Simmondsia chinensis. | 7:09:18 | 7:09:20
It just sounds beautiful, doesn't it? | 7:09:20 | 7:09:22
But if you want to see something really exotic, take a look at this. | 7:09:22 | 7:09:25
This is... | 7:09:25 | 7:09:27
The Cornishius pastius. | 7:09:27 | 7:09:29
That's the real reason we're here today. | 7:09:29 | 7:09:31
Oh, yes, because I'm not here to see the stunning plantlife. | 7:09:33 | 7:09:36
Oh, no - I'm here because this place also hosts | 7:09:36 | 7:09:39
the World Pasty Championships, | 7:09:39 | 7:09:40
and this year, they have a new challenger. | 7:09:40 | 7:09:43
Me. | 7:09:43 | 7:09:45 | |
I'm going to be entering the competition | 7:09:45 | 7:09:48
and trying to create a prize-winning Cornish pasty, | 7:09:48 | 7:09:50
but I don't know the first thing about making these famous treats. | 7:09:50 | 7:09:54
Luckily, though, Jake, Naomi and last year's junior champ Jack do. | 7:09:54 | 7:09:58
Let's talk about what makes the perfect pasty. | 7:09:58 | 7:10:00
Jack, what do you think? | 7:10:00 | 7:10:01
Well, you need to have fresh, home-grown ingredients, if you can. | 7:10:01 | 7:10:05
But they need to be, like, perfect. | 7:10:05 | 7:10:08
Use good ingredients in your pasty - OK. | 7:10:08 | 7:10:10
Then Jake, what would you say? | 7:10:10 | 7:10:11
Well, you've got to make sure it tastes good and not just looks good. | 7:10:11 | 7:10:16
These guys take this seriously - but who can blame them? | 7:10:16 | 7:10:19
The iconic Cornish pasty is a little piece of history. | 7:10:19 | 7:10:21
They were created hundreds of years ago | 7:10:21 | 7:10:23
for those working underground in the mines of Cornwall. | 7:10:23 | 7:10:26
Their unusual crimped crust gave the miners something to hold on to, | 7:10:26 | 7:10:30
without getting their lunch dirty. | 7:10:30 | 7:10:32
Well, I think it's time to get cracking, | 7:10:33 | 7:10:35
so I get some pastry - here's one I made earlier... | 7:10:35 | 7:10:38
-Doesn't look like a Cornish pasty, yet, does it? -No. | 7:10:39 | 7:10:42
You need to roll it to about 25 to 30 centimetres. | 7:10:42 | 7:10:47
What sort of shape am I going for, here? | 7:10:47 | 7:10:48
-A circle. -A circle. OK. | 7:10:48 | 7:10:51
For the filling, in goes potato, swede, onion, beef | 7:10:51 | 7:10:55
and Jack's special secret ingredient - | 7:10:55 | 7:10:57
clotted cream. | 7:10:57 | 7:10:59
Wait - what? | 7:10:59 | 7:11:00
What the clotted cream does | 7:11:00 | 7:11:02
is it makes a sort of gravy in the pasty. | 7:11:02 | 7:11:04
I'll have to trust you on this one, Jack. | 7:11:04 | 7:11:07
The ingredients are then placed onto the rolled pastry, | 7:11:07 | 7:11:09
which is folded, ready for crimping. | 7:11:09 | 7:11:12
You have to start from the right side, | 7:11:12 | 7:11:15
and then keeping on folding in a triangle, like that. | 7:11:15 | 7:11:20
It's this folding of the edge, called crimping, | 7:11:20 | 7:11:23
that seals the filling in and makes the pasty unique. | 7:11:23 | 7:11:26
Wow - that my first-ever pasty. | 7:11:26 | 7:11:28
-Can't eat it now, though, can we? -No. We need to put it in the oven. | 7:11:28 | 7:11:31
55 minutes in the oven and that's my traditional Cornish entry done. | 7:11:31 | 7:11:35
I'd also entered into the Open Savoury category. | 7:11:35 | 7:11:38
That means I can make another pasty, | 7:11:38 | 7:11:40
which gives me another shot to win the competition, | 7:11:40 | 7:11:42
and, also, I don't have to do the traditional food inside it. | 7:11:42 | 7:11:44
I can make anything I want. | 7:11:44 | 7:11:46
So, I'm going to make steak and blue cheese, | 7:11:46 | 7:11:48
which is a match made in heaven. | 7:11:48 | 7:11:49
So, I'm adding blue cheese to your classic recipe... | 7:11:49 | 7:11:53
..and a cheeky BP badge on top, obvs. | 7:11:54 | 7:11:57
Next stop, competition time. | 7:11:57 | 7:12:00
There are literally hundreds of pasties here, | 7:12:03 | 7:12:06
and the competition is tough. | 7:12:06 | 7:12:08
When I come to submit my crimped creations, | 7:12:08 | 7:12:10
I realise the rules on entering are even tougher. | 7:12:10 | 7:12:13
OK, so, for the Cornish pasty, | 7:12:13 | 7:12:15
are you a professional baker or cook? | 7:12:15 | 7:12:17
-No. -Does it have beef, potato, onion or swedes? | 7:12:17 | 7:12:20
-Yes. -Perfect. Is it side-crimped? | 7:12:20 | 7:12:22
-Yes. -Is it made in Cornwall? | 7:12:22 | 7:12:24
-Yes. -OK, perfect. So, you've passed that one. | 7:12:24 | 7:12:26
-Brilliant. Thank you very much. -Thank you. -This is exciting. | 7:12:26 | 7:12:29
Jake, Naomi and Jack also get their entries in, | 7:12:29 | 7:12:32
meaning all that's left is for me to pop mine on display. | 7:12:32 | 7:12:35
There you go. | 7:12:35 | 7:12:37
Mine, for sure, look very different. | 7:12:37 | 7:12:39
No-one is going to miss this. | 7:12:39 | 7:12:40
From space, actually - look how big that is. | 7:12:40 | 7:12:42
I've got my savoury and I've got my traditional. | 7:12:42 | 7:12:46
And, while we're being traditional, | 7:12:46 | 7:12:47
why not stick a Blue Peter flag in there as well? | 7:12:47 | 7:12:49
So that everyone knows just how good a chef I am. | 7:12:49 | 7:12:53
The judges will score each pasty out of 100, | 7:12:55 | 7:12:58
so, as we await the results, I want to know what these guys | 7:12:58 | 7:13:01
with a passion for pastry think of my efforts. | 7:13:01 | 7:13:04
Hello, junior judges. | 7:13:04 | 7:13:05
ALL: Hello! | 7:13:05 | 7:13:07
So, here is a pasty that's been made by me. | 7:13:07 | 7:13:10
It's my first time, so, be nice. | 7:13:10 | 7:13:12
The score is out of 100. Take a piece and see what you think. | 7:13:12 | 7:13:16
So, if you were going to give me a score out of 100, what would it be? | 7:13:20 | 7:13:23
-100. -OK. | 7:13:23 | 7:13:25
-1,000! -1,000 out of 100? That's a good score. | 7:13:25 | 7:13:27
Thank you for trying them. | 7:13:27 | 7:13:28
Shall I see if anyone else wants to try them? | 7:13:28 | 7:13:30
-Can I take another one? -You want another one? | 7:13:30 | 7:13:32
-Really? It's that good? -ALL: Yeah. | 7:13:32 | 7:13:33
Sadly, though, these guys don't actually decide the competition, | 7:13:33 | 7:13:36
so it's time to find out how I've done. | 7:13:36 | 7:13:39
Has he done it? | 7:13:39 | 7:13:40
Cue the tension music. | 7:13:40 | 7:13:42
The winner of the Open Savoury Pasty Amateur is... | 7:13:42 | 7:13:46
Don McKeever. | 7:13:46 | 7:13:48
Right - so, maybe the steak and Stilton wasn't my best idea. | 7:13:48 | 7:13:52
But I've still got my traditional Cornish - come on! | 7:13:52 | 7:13:56
And the winner is... | 7:13:56 | 7:13:58
Vanessa Farr. | 7:13:58 | 7:14:00
Oh, well. Better luck next time. | 7:14:00 | 7:14:02
You can't win them all. | 7:14:02 | 7:14:03
But Naomi and Jack both get third place in their categories. | 7:14:03 | 7:14:06
What an effort! | 7:14:06 | 7:14:08
And as the pastry dust settles, I get my scores from the judges. | 7:14:08 | 7:14:12
I got a total of 38/100. | 7:14:12 | 7:14:15
That was for my savoury one, the steak and cheese, | 7:14:15 | 7:14:17
which I thought, actually, was the worst one. | 7:14:17 | 7:14:19
Underneath that, we've got the traditional pasty. | 7:14:19 | 7:14:22
I got 48/100. That's not too bad. | 7:14:22 | 7:14:24
OK, I take it on board. | 7:14:24 | 7:14:26
I'm not best pasty maker in the world. | 7:14:26 | 7:14:28
But what I have done is enjoyed myself - | 7:14:28 | 7:14:30
not just the tasting and the cooking, but the learning. | 7:14:30 | 7:14:33
And who knows what's going to happen next year. | 7:14:33 | 7:14:37
I'll be back. | 7:14:37 | 7:14:39
And you're going to be a champion, Barn. | 7:14:39 | 7:14:41
-Thank you very much for dropping this little beauty off. -Aw! | 7:14:41 | 7:14:43
-An actual Cornish pasty. -Looks quite delicious, doesn't it? | 7:14:43 | 7:14:46
Now, of course, Barney wasn't lucky enough | 7:14:46 | 7:14:48
to be crowned the World Pasty Champ, which he wanted, | 7:14:48 | 7:14:51
but I think we should crown the Blue Peter fan of the month. | 7:14:51 | 7:14:54
-Cue the music. -FANFARE | 7:14:54 | 7:14:55
-Yeah! -Oh, I love that music. Music to my ears. | 7:14:55 | 7:14:58
OK - this is a real BP fan. | 7:14:58 | 7:14:59
They think Blue Peter is the best show ever on CBBC. | 7:14:59 | 7:15:02
-True. -They are always giving really good ideas for the caption challenge | 7:15:02 | 7:15:05
that we do on The Fan Club Hour. | 7:15:05 | 7:15:07
They're just a bit of a legend. | 7:15:07 | 7:15:09
They're always been positive. They've got a great attitude. | 7:15:09 | 7:15:11
So, Radz, Fan Of The Month is inside the pasty. | 7:15:11 | 7:15:14
-Inside the pasty?! -Ready? It is... | 7:15:14 | 7:15:17
Take it out! | 7:15:19 | 7:15:20
It is... Look at that greasy... | 7:15:20 | 7:15:22
Topaz... | 7:15:22 | 7:15:23
Wait, hang on. | 7:15:23 | 7:15:24
Urgh...! | 7:15:24 | 7:15:26
-Did you just lick the beef off of that? -I had to! | 7:15:31 | 7:15:33
My hand was tied. | 7:15:33 | 7:15:34
Right, well, save that pasty for later. | 7:15:34 | 7:15:36
That's how much I love Fan Of The Month. | 7:15:36 | 7:15:38
Right, from pasties to your post-ie - | 7:15:38 | 7:15:40
very smooth link, there. | 7:15:40 | 7:15:42
Have a look at this week's big badge wall. | 7:15:42 | 7:15:43
-It's incredible. -Let's start with this one here. | 7:15:43 | 7:15:45
-I smell of beef. -So do I, actually. | 7:15:45 | 7:15:47
I taste it. | 7:15:47 | 7:15:48
This is from Imogen. Now, Imogen has sent this in super-quick. | 7:15:48 | 7:15:51
Imogen is the sister of Naomi, that you actually saw in that film. | 7:15:51 | 7:15:54
That's Barney's pasty, there, | 7:15:54 | 7:15:56
and that's Barney, looking pleased with himself. | 7:15:56 | 7:15:58
Thank you very much, Imogen. | 7:15:58 | 7:15:59
A special shout-out to Harrison from Guildford. | 7:15:59 | 7:16:02
He was inspired by you making pancakes, | 7:16:02 | 7:16:04
Radz, with a bit of a difference. | 7:16:04 | 7:16:05
He sent in... He's made his very own pan, look at that. | 7:16:05 | 7:16:08
And inside, he's even done a little crepe. | 7:16:08 | 7:16:11
-Shall I give it a flip? -Flip it! Flip it! Flip it! | 7:16:11 | 7:16:14
This hasn't gone right all day, Harrison, | 7:16:14 | 7:16:16
but I'll try, just for you. | 7:16:16 | 7:16:17
Go on, go on, Linz! | 7:16:17 | 7:16:18
CHEERING | 7:16:18 | 7:16:21
Now that is effort right there. | 7:16:21 | 7:16:24
Oh, that hasn't gone right all day. Lovely. | 7:16:24 | 7:16:26
Now, feast your eyes upon this here. | 7:16:26 | 7:16:29
Ethan has sent us in this fantastic picture, | 7:16:29 | 7:16:32
but it was a very special letter that accompanied it, | 7:16:32 | 7:16:34
because Ethan told us that his dad is this man - | 7:16:34 | 7:16:38
-Simon Thomas, Blue Peter presenter number 27. -Royalty! | 7:16:38 | 7:16:40
This man was my favourite-ever Blue Peter presenter. | 7:16:40 | 7:16:43
He's a hero, he's an icon, and he's awesome. | 7:16:43 | 7:16:46
-So excited. -It's earned you your very own blue Blue Peter badge. | 7:16:46 | 7:16:49
Not your dad's hand-me-downs - the 2017 version. | 7:16:49 | 7:16:52
Have a look at this - it's from James from Derbyshire. | 7:16:52 | 7:16:55
-Radz, go celebrate over there. -I will. | 7:16:55 | 7:16:57
He's given us a joke, which we love. | 7:16:57 | 7:16:59
It says, "What did the cake say to the fork?" | 7:16:59 | 7:17:01
CREW: I don't know. What did the cake say to the fork? | 7:17:01 | 7:17:05
Thank you, Jack. | 7:17:05 | 7:17:06
"Do you want a piece of me?" | 7:17:06 | 7:17:07
LAUGHTER | 7:17:07 | 7:17:08
We like that, we love a good LOL on BP. | 7:17:08 | 7:17:10
Thank you so much for all your post, | 7:17:10 | 7:17:12
it's keeping the badge wall looking fabulous. | 7:17:12 | 7:17:14
-Another one for you, Linz. -Yeah. | 7:17:14 | 7:17:16
What's big, red and quite literally filled with LOLs? | 7:17:16 | 7:17:19
I don't know, Radz - what is big, red and full of LOLs? | 7:17:19 | 7:17:22
The Blue Peter totaliser. | 7:17:22 | 7:17:23
Off we go. | 7:17:23 | 7:17:25
-FANFARE -We're having fun today, aren't we? | 7:17:25 | 7:17:27
We're having a lot of fun. All of these numbers | 7:17:27 | 7:17:29
represent jokey jokies that you good people have sent in. | 7:17:29 | 7:17:32
You can get in on the action by downloading this form, here, | 7:17:32 | 7:17:35

I've got the giggles. There have been some corker-trons. | 7:17:40 | 7:17:42
Like this one, from Ellie. Listen to it, it's funny. | 7:17:42 | 7:17:44
Why is the school orchestra so smelly? | 7:17:44 | 7:17:50
Because they have a large wind section. | 7:17:50 | 7:17:53
CANNED LAUGHTER | 7:17:53 | 7:17:54
LAUGHTER | 7:17:56 | 7:17:58

We've got one more. | 7:18:16 | 7:18:18
It's Lindsey from Oxford. | 7:18:18 | 7:18:20
What did Jay-Z call his girlfriend before they were married? | 7:18:20 | 7:18:25
FIANCEE. | 7:18:25 | 7:18:27
WIND WHISTLES, BELL TOLLS | 7:18:27 | 7:18:29
Right? Cos it... | 7:18:29 | 7:18:32
-LAUGHING: -Cos it sounds like Beyonce... | 7:18:32 | 7:18:35
Cos it sounds like Beyonce! | 7:18:36 | 7:18:38
-Don't get it. -You don't get it? | 7:18:38 | 7:18:40
No. Absolutely not. | 7:18:40 | 7:18:42
I'm crying, Radzi. Do the next bit. | 7:18:42 | 7:18:44
You can get involved by sending in your jokes. | 7:18:44 | 7:18:46
You've only got two weeks left in which to do it, by the way. | 7:18:46 | 7:18:49
Lindsey is absolutely gone. | 7:18:49 | 7:18:50

We believe in you. We think you can do it. | 7:18:53 | 7:18:55
You need to get your jokes into us by Wednesday 22nd March. | 7:18:55 | 7:18:59
SHE LAUGHS HELPLESSLY | 7:18:59 | 7:19:02
Do it. | 7:19:02 | 7:19:03 | |
-Online, Radzi. -Also, take a look | 7:19:03 | 7:19:05

then you are going to love our next guest. | 7:19:21 | 7:19:22
Please welcome Gavin James. | 7:19:22 | 7:19:24
Yeah! | 7:19:24 | 7:19:25 | |
-Gavin, we've got the giggles. -Hi, there. Yeah? | 7:19:28 | 7:19:30
-Thank you for being on Blue Peter. -Thanks for having me. | 7:19:30 | 7:19:32
What's it like to have the BP badge on? | 7:19:32 | 7:19:34
-It's a dream, isn't it? -It's amazing. -Chuffed, yeah. | 7:19:34 | 7:19:36
Now, let's talk about your career, | 7:19:36 | 7:19:38
because you've had 200 million streams, | 7:19:38 | 7:19:41
-is that right, for your music? -Yeah, it's pretty cool. | 7:19:41 | 7:19:43
It is pretty cool. How does that feel? | 7:19:43 | 7:19:45
Say 100 million, a solid 100 million, | 7:19:45 | 7:19:46
is probably my mam. | 7:19:46 | 7:19:48
-Oh, OK. -She, like, listens to it all the time. | 7:19:48 | 7:19:50
Well, thanks, Mum. What a great support. | 7:19:50 | 7:19:52
-Thanks, Ma. -Talking about support, let's talk about Ed Sheeran. | 7:19:52 | 7:19:55
He's had a bit to do with your career as well, hasn't he? | 7:19:55 | 7:19:57
Yeah, he's lovely. Gingers, we've got to look after each other. | 7:19:57 | 7:20:00
Don't make me laugh again, please! I just got over it, come on! | 7:20:00 | 7:20:04
He's a great lad. I met him in Ireland, | 7:20:04 | 7:20:05
and we just sat around in a circle, all of us, just playing guitar, | 7:20:05 | 7:20:08
and we passed the guitar around. | 7:20:08 | 7:20:09
Yeah, it was cool, and he got me into playing Croke Park in Dublin, | 7:20:09 | 7:20:12
which is kind of like Wembley, here. | 7:20:12 | 7:20:13
That's huge. 80,000 people. | 7:20:13 | 7:20:15
I was very nervous. It was good, though. | 7:20:15 | 7:20:17
Yeah, it was fun. | 7:20:17 | 7:20:18
Are you touring, now? Are you touring at the moment? | 7:20:18 | 7:20:20
-You're laughing... -No, you're laughing! | 7:20:20 | 7:20:22
I'll be touring in April. It's going to be a lot of fun. | 7:20:22 | 7:20:24
Touring in April in the UK, start of April. | 7:20:24 | 7:20:26
We're so excited, you're singing for us later on, | 7:20:26 | 7:20:28
which is actually a TV exclusive, isn't it? | 7:20:28 | 7:20:30
Yeah, first time I've ever played it on TV, so I'm chuffed. | 7:20:30 | 7:20:33
We can't wait. I saw the rehearsals and it was just beautiful. | 7:20:33 | 7:20:35
-So, Gavin, thank you. -Thanks for having me. | 7:20:35 | 7:20:37
-Gavin James, everybody. -CHEERING | 7:20:37 | 7:20:39
Now, Red Nose Day is just around the corner and, of course, | 7:20:39 | 7:20:42
we're all doing our bit to get involved, | 7:20:42 | 7:20:44
and it's so important, | 7:20:44 | 7:20:45
because some children around the world | 7:20:45 | 7:20:47
really need our help, because they find themselves | 7:20:47 | 7:20:49
in a very tough situation. | 7:20:49 | 7:20:51
Have a look at this. | 7:20:51 | 7:20:52
This year, Red Nose Day have made two films, | 7:20:54 | 7:20:57
showing how their work helps people living in Sierra Leone, West Africa. | 7:20:57 | 7:21:02
These films are being shown in schools up and down the country, | 7:21:02 | 7:21:05
so I've brought them to this one for a very special screening. | 7:21:05 | 7:21:09
First up, it's Hassan's story. | 7:21:09 | 7:21:11
So, Hassan's 12 and we are going to have a look at his story, now. | 7:21:11 | 7:21:15
Let's have a little watch. | 7:21:15 | 7:21:16
My name is Hassan. | 7:21:16 | 7:21:18
I am 12 years old. | 7:21:18 | 7:21:20
These are my friends. | 7:21:20 | 7:21:21
CHEERING | 7:21:21 | 7:21:24
I used to live with my mum, | 7:21:24 | 7:21:26
my older brother | 7:21:26 | 7:21:27
and my sisters. | 7:21:27 | 7:21:29
Our family was happy. | 7:21:29 | 7:21:31
People in my neighbourhood started getting sick. | 7:21:32 | 7:21:36
One woman was taken to hospital and they said she had Ebola. | 7:21:36 | 7:21:41
It made me feel scared, | 7:21:41 | 7:21:42
in case me or any of my family got it, | 7:21:42 | 7:21:45
because if anyone I knew got it, | 7:21:45 | 7:21:47
I might not be able to see them again. | 7:21:47 | 7:21:49
They taped off our street for 21 days. | 7:21:50 | 7:21:53
There were soldiers stopping us from leaving, | 7:21:54 | 7:21:57
and anyone from coming in. | 7:21:57 | 7:22:00
They closed my school. | 7:22:00 | 7:22:02
Nothing was open except the hospital. | 7:22:02 | 7:22:04
If my school was shut, | 7:22:04 | 7:22:06
I'd just be sad that I wouldn't be able to do my dream, | 7:22:06 | 7:22:09
cos I wouldn't have the education | 7:22:09 | 7:22:11
and I wouldn't be able to see my friends. | 7:22:11 | 7:22:13
I stayed at home, doing nothing. | 7:22:13 | 7:22:17
It wasn't long before my mum fell ill. | 7:22:17 | 7:22:20
An ambulance came to take my mum away | 7:22:20 | 7:22:23
and I never saw her again. | 7:22:23 | 7:22:25
After nine months, Hassan's school reopened. | 7:22:29 | 7:22:32
And, thanks to money raised by Red Nose Day, | 7:22:32 | 7:22:35
a project supporting children affected by Ebola | 7:22:35 | 7:22:38
has been able to help Hassan and others continue their education. | 7:22:38 | 7:22:42
He is now back in school with his friends. | 7:22:42 | 7:22:45
NASALLY: Thank you. | 7:22:45 | 7:22:46
LAUGHTER | 7:22:46 | 7:22:48
So, after hearing Hassan's story, how do you feel? | 7:22:50 | 7:22:54
It makes me feel sad at the start, | 7:22:54 | 7:22:56
because of what happened to his village, | 7:22:56 | 7:22:58
but then happy at the ending, | 7:22:58 | 7:22:59
because Red Nose Day changed his life. | 7:22:59 | 7:23:02
I think he was so brave, because it must be really hard | 7:23:02 | 7:23:05
to deal with, you know, not going to school, | 7:23:05 | 7:23:07
not having any friends to talk to and play with. | 7:23:07 | 7:23:09
So, this next film about Ikmatu. | 7:23:09 | 7:23:12
So, let's take a look at her story. | 7:23:12 | 7:23:14
Hi, my name is Ikmatu. | 7:23:14 | 7:23:17
I am from Sierra Leone, | 7:23:17 | 7:23:18
Freetown, Moa Bay community slum. | 7:23:18 | 7:23:20
I am 16 years old. | 7:23:20 | 7:23:22
I love my community because we come together, work as one. | 7:23:22 | 7:23:27
My family are here, and also my friends. | 7:23:27 | 7:23:30
As a peer educator, I advise people | 7:23:31 | 7:23:33
on how to take care of their environment | 7:23:33 | 7:23:36
and I clean the streets. | 7:23:36 | 7:23:37
We are cleaning our environment so that we can't catch diseases. | 7:23:37 | 7:23:42
I am the boss today. | 7:23:42 | 7:23:43
Let's do the work faster. | 7:23:43 | 7:23:45
It's quite dirty, | 7:23:47 | 7:23:49
but they are helping to clean it and keep the diseases away. | 7:23:49 | 7:23:54
However hard the work is, we will manage. | 7:23:54 | 7:23:57
We will do it so that our community stays free from disease. | 7:23:57 | 7:24:01
Everyone likes to work together as one. | 7:24:01 | 7:24:04
I think that's a really good skill to have. | 7:24:04 | 7:24:07
I became a volunteer peer educator during the Ebola outbreak | 7:24:16 | 7:24:21
because I saw that the adults were afraid. | 7:24:21 | 7:24:24
I had to be brave and talk to people calmly | 7:24:26 | 7:24:30
to raise awareness about hygiene during Ebola. | 7:24:30 | 7:24:34
Her community nearly got wiped out, | 7:24:34 | 7:24:36
and I thought that she was really brave, that she stood up. | 7:24:36 | 7:24:40
If nobody had acted, | 7:24:40 | 7:24:42
everyone in my community would have been wiped out. | 7:24:42 | 7:24:45
Red Nose Day allowed Ikmatu to do something | 7:24:46 | 7:24:49
and help organise those around her tackle Ebola. | 7:24:49 | 7:24:52
This work has made my future bright | 7:24:54 | 7:24:57
and has made me determined to do more. | 7:24:57 | 7:25:00
LAUGHTER | 7:25:05 | 7:25:07
Why you think it's so important that Red Nose Day gets involved | 7:25:07 | 7:25:12
and helps people and communities like Ikmatu's? | 7:25:12 | 7:25:14
Because it helps them have a better future, | 7:25:14 | 7:25:17
to live in a cleaner place, | 7:25:17 | 7:25:19
and all the younger children will grow up | 7:25:19 | 7:25:21
in a happy and safe environment. | 7:25:21 | 7:25:23
It can make the difference of who lives and who doesn't. | 7:25:23 | 7:25:27
Over the past few weeks, you've been busy sending us | 7:25:27 | 7:25:30
your favourite jokes and pledging what you will be doing | 7:25:30 | 7:25:32
to support this year's Red Nose Day. | 7:25:32 | 7:25:35

Yeah - what they said. | 7:25:55 | 7:25:56
ALL: Make your laugh matter! | 7:25:56 | 7:26:00
And speaking of Comic Relief, on Saturday, | 7:26:00 | 7:26:02
Barney will be travelling from Manchester down to London, | 7:26:02 | 7:26:05
trying to tell as many people his favourite joke. | 7:26:05 | 7:26:08
In fact, HIS joke. | 7:26:08 | 7:26:09
-See if you can see him and say hello. -That's right. | 7:26:09 | 7:26:11
But now, with his brand-new single, it is the amazing Gavin James. | 7:26:11 | 7:26:15
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE | 7:26:15 | 7:26:17
# I don't know why | 7:26:17 | 7:26:19
# I don't want anybody else but you | 7:26:21 | 7:26:26
# No-one can ever add up to | 7:26:27 | 7:26:31
# What you are | 7:26:32 | 7:26:35
# Simple words | 7:26:37 | 7:26:38
# That I can never say to you | 7:26:40 | 7:26:44
# Things that I can never do | 7:26:46 | 7:26:49
# When I was younger | 7:26:51 | 7:26:54
# But I don't know | 7:26:57 | 7:26:59
# Which way the wind blows | 7:26:59 | 7:27:02
# But I know I'll be all right | 7:27:02 | 7:27:06
# And I don't know | 7:27:07 | 7:27:09
# If you think I'm crazy | 7:27:09 | 7:27:12
# But if you say maybe, I... | 7:27:12 | 7:27:16
# I'd say love don't wait in line | 7:27:16 | 7:27:21
# No, love don't wait in line | 7:27:21 | 7:27:26
# If I say | 7:27:29 | 7:27:31
# That I don't care what you do with him | 7:27:33 | 7:27:36
# If every time I lose, you win | 7:27:37 | 7:27:41
# Then I'd be lying | 7:27:43 | 7:27:46
# But I'd better learn | 7:27:48 | 7:27:50
# Oh, I'd better learn to sink or swim | 7:27:51 | 7:27:56
# Cos the pieces of my heart are getting dim | 7:27:56 | 7:28:01
# But I'll find the light | 7:28:01 | 7:28:05
# But I don't know | 7:28:08 | 7:28:10
# Which way the wind blows | 7:28:10 | 7:28:12
# But I know I'll be all right | 7:28:12 | 7:28:16
# And I don't know | 7:28:17 | 7:28:20
# If you think I'm crazy | 7:28:20 | 7:28:22
# But if you say maybe, I... | 7:28:22 | 7:28:26
# I'd say love don't wait in line | 7:28:26 | 7:28:31
# No, love don't wait in line | 7:28:31 | 7:28:35
# No | 7:28:35 | 7:28:38 | |
# Oh, oh, oh, oh | 7:28:39 | 7:28:44
# Oh, oh, oh | 7:28:44 | 7:28:48
# Oh, the times, they change | 7:28:56 | 7:28:59
# And our lives they rearrange | 7:29:01 | 7:29:05
# We were just a burning flame | 7:29:06 | 7:29:10
# With bad timing | 7:29:12 | 7:29:14
# Oh, but love don't wait in line | 7:29:17 | 7:29:21
# No, love don't wait in line. # | 7:29:22 | 7:29:26
CHEERING AND APPLAUSE | 7:29:29 | 7:29:32

That's right. Barney is going to be looking for the perfect joke | 7:29:57 | 7:29:59
with his fave comedian, Peter Kay. | 7:29:59 | 7:30:01
-I'm going to finish on a joke. -Go on. | 7:30:01 | 7:30:03
What do you call a pop star that floats? | 7:30:03 | 7:30:05
BUOY-ANCE! | 7:30:05 | 7:30:06
Woeful. SHE LAUGHS | 7:30:06 | 7:30:08 |
