it's a special way to make the apples grow faster.

as soon as I plant the trees!

They're funny shaped apples!

They're bulrushes, Spud, not apples.

They help clean the water.

Oh, yes! I knew that.

The dirty water goes into the first hole, here.

Then this filter takes out any grease.

Then it goes into the second hole,

and through the roots of the bulrushes and the gravel.

That cleans it again. Then into the third hole,

through these dishes, and the sun shining on it

-makes it even cleaner!

-Oh!

I'm really sorry, Bob. I was only trying to speed things up.

Nothing'll speed up the apples, Spud.

-They won't be fully grown till autumn.

Growing apples is a process, too.

You plant the trees, water them,

protect them, then pick them.

But autumn's AGES! I'm worn out from all that digging and planting.
