come together and choose five of the most exciting up-and-coming artists

of the year.

They make up the BBC's Sound Of 2017.

So, I'm going to hand over to another Radio 1 DJ, MistaJam,

to explain and tell you all about it.

I was just doing some...research, for my show.

Ahem! How you doing?

I'm MistaJam and I'm here today to talk to you about the

BBC Music Sound Of 2017 list.

This list is the definitive list to tell you exactly who you need

to know in music in the forthcoming year.

It's crowned some of the biggest names in music to date.

I'm talking about people like Sam Smith.

People like Ellie Golding.

And even Adele.

So if you don't know anything about this year's list,

let me tell you about the top five.

In fifth place, Nadia Rose.

You might have heard of her cousin Stormzy,

who was nominated for BBC Music Sound Of back in 2015.

I'm 23 and I'm a rapper from Croydon.

I am the saviour.

At four, Georgia Smith, whose

first single, Blue Lights, received

a lot of attention from the likes of Drake and Skrillex.

I'd just want people

to feel any type of emotion when they listen to my song.

As long as it can help them get through how they're feeling.

That's what I want to do through music.

In third place, Raye, who is no stranger to the charts,

featuring on Jonas Blue's track By Your Side.

This school is, like, a really important place

where I found myself.

I fell in love with the music class here.

This is where I kind of grew up, I feel like.

And in second place, it is the man who spent the last six weeks

in the top ten, it's Rag'n'Bone Man.

The reason I started music was because I love to perform to people.

The best thing about it and what it's all for

is the live thing, for me.

So that's what makes me smile.

Right, so all of those artists are in the top five.

to find out who will be crowned BBC Music Sound Of 2017.
