One pea, two peas,

three peas, four peas,

five peas, six peas,

seven peas, eight...

Oh! Hello.

I'm Josie.

Do you like peas? I do.

I'm counting the peas on the plates,

to make sure I've got as many as my friends.

And so far I've counted eight peas, but it's difficult to count peas.

They're very little and round and very, very green.

And they all look the same.

There's someone who doesn't like peas in tonight's bedtime story

and is determined to save the world from peas.

The story is by Kes Gray and Nick Sharratt

and is called Super Daisy And The Peril Of Planet Pea.

"Oh, no!" said Daisy.

"Planet Pea is on a collision course with Planet Earth!"

"Is that bad?" said Dylan.

"Super bad," said Daisy.

"If Planet Pea collides with Planet Earth, Planet Pea will explode

"into a gazillion, billion, killion peas!"

"We won't die, will we?" asked Gabby.

"No," said Daisy.

"It's much more serious than that."

"It means we will get peas with everything."

"Everything?" gasped Gabby and Dylan.

"Everything," frowned Daisy.

"Peas with pizza, peas with chicken drumsticks, peas with pancakes

"peas with cereal, peas with spaghetti, peas with cake,

"peas with egg, peas with salad, peas with yoghurt, peas with burgers

"peas with lemonade, peas with jelly, peas with crisps,

"peas with potatoes, with ice-cream, with crunchy creams

"with fruit salad, with peanut butter sandwiches!"

GASP

"What are we going to do?" asked Dylan and Gabby.

"This is a job for...

"Super Daisy!" said Daisy.

"Super Daisy is faster than an astro-rocket."

"Zoom!"

"Super Daisy is stronger than a lunar elephant."

"Super Daisy is fiercer than a cosmic tiger."

"Super Daisy is smarter than a space alien from Planet Brain Box

"How many peas is Planet Pea?"

"Eh, two?"

"No! Kerpillions!"

"And I'm going to stop them all!"

"Good luck, Super Daisy!" said Gabby and Dylan.

"Thanks," said Super Daisy flying through the clouds

to do battle with Planet Pea.

Ping!

Wham!

Bam!

Blam!

"Phew. Ha-ha! Ah. I've saved the world.

"I'm back," said Daisy.

"Have you saved the world from Planet Pea?" asked Gabby.

"Yup," smiled Daisy.

"I stopped Planet Pea with my super, pea-popping, punching power!"

"Thanks to Super Daisy, there will be no more peas ever again,

"anywhere ever, in the world!"

"Dinner's ready, Super Daisy," called Daisy's mum from the kitchen.

"Super sauce or normal sauce?" asked mum.

"I think you've missed some,"

whispered Dylan looking down at his plate.

"I think you've missed some, too," whispered Gabby.

SIGH

"Normal sauce," groaned Daisy.

JOSIE GIGGLES

And that story was called

Super Daisy And The Peril Of Planet Pea.

I'm glad Daisy didn't get to my peas.

I haven't finished counting.

And then I can get to eat them. Ooh! Lovely.

Now, I'll carry on counting them

and while I do it's time for you to go to bed.
