Hello. I'm Angellica. | 1:14:07 | 1:14:09
Would you like to come on a bedtime adventure with me | 1:14:09 | 1:14:12
all the way into space? | 1:14:12 | 1:14:14
You would? Great. | 1:14:14 | 1:14:16
You'd better put your space helmets on. | 1:14:16 | 1:14:19
Tonight's story is called My Sister Is An Alien | 1:14:19 | 1:14:22
and it's by Rachel Bright. | 1:14:22 | 1:14:24
This is Alfie. | 1:14:24 | 1:14:27
His favourite things are | 1:14:27 | 1:14:29
one - aliens, | 1:14:29 | 1:14:31
two - rockets, | 1:14:31 | 1:14:32
three - the moon, | 1:14:32 | 1:14:35
in that exact order. | 1:14:35 | 1:14:37
He lives in a house with one mummy, one daddy | 1:14:37 | 1:14:40
and a brand-new sister called Ruby. | 1:14:40 | 1:14:44
Mummy talked a lot about Ruby. | 1:14:44 | 1:14:47
"Oh, Alfie, isn't she lovely? Mummy and Daddy are over the moon." | 1:14:47 | 1:14:53
But Alfie was thinking about aliens and all he heard was, | 1:14:53 | 1:14:57
"Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, moon." | 1:14:57 | 1:14:59
Daddy talked a lot about Ruby, too. | 1:14:59 | 1:15:02
"Oh, Alfie, isn't she lovely? We must make some space for her." | 1:15:02 | 1:15:07
But Alfie was busy drawing an astronaut and all he heard was, | 1:15:07 | 1:15:11
"Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, space." | 1:15:11 | 1:15:15
And that was when Alfie realised, | 1:15:15 | 1:15:17
"My sister is an alien from the moon!" | 1:15:17 | 1:15:21
She looked like an alien. | 1:15:21 | 1:15:23
She sounded like an alien. | 1:15:23 | 1:15:27
She definitely smelt like an alien. | 1:15:27 | 1:15:30
And she often cried for home. | 1:15:30 | 1:15:33
So Alfie decided he must get Ruby back to the moon where she belonged. | 1:15:33 | 1:15:37
And he had just the thing to get her there - his rocket! | 1:15:37 | 1:15:42
Alfie spent a long time making it nice | 1:15:42 | 1:15:45
so Ruby would have a lovely journey home. | 1:15:45 | 1:15:48
He found some space snacks in case Ruby was hungry on the way. | 1:15:48 | 1:15:52
There was just enough time to dress in their space suits. | 1:15:52 | 1:15:55
Then, at last, they were ready to go. | 1:15:55 | 1:15:59
Alfie climbed into the rocket with Ruby - | 1:15:59 | 1:16:01
well, somebody responsible needed to drive - | 1:16:01 | 1:16:05
and he began the countdown. | 1:16:05 | 1:16:07
"Three, two, one, lift off!" | 1:16:07 | 1:16:11
Alfie and Ruby soared through the air, over the tree tops | 1:16:13 | 1:16:16
and into the starry darkness. | 1:16:16 | 1:16:18
They flew and flew towards the moon and, after not too long, | 1:16:18 | 1:16:23
they made a very soft landing. | 1:16:23 | 1:16:26
The moon was an amazing place. | 1:16:26 | 1:16:28
Ruby looked very happy and the aliens were | 1:16:28 | 1:16:31
even more friendly than Alfie thought they would be. | 1:16:31 | 1:16:34
They played and played all night long until Alfie got sleepy | 1:16:34 | 1:16:38
and said, "Ruby, I'd better go home now." | 1:16:38 | 1:16:42
But when he climbed into the rocket, he suddenly felt very sad. | 1:16:44 | 1:16:48
"Ruby," he said, "Do you think you might come back to earth with me | 1:16:48 | 1:16:53
"for just a little bit longer?" | 1:16:53 | 1:16:56
And Ruby said, | 1:16:56 | 1:16:57
"Goo!" | 1:16:57 | 1:17:01
So away they flew. | 1:17:01 | 1:17:03
Back across the starry darkness, | 1:17:03 | 1:17:05
over the tree tops and all the way home. | 1:17:05 | 1:17:08
That night, Ruby slept in Alfie's bed. | 1:17:10 | 1:17:13
"Night, night, Ruby," whispered Alfie as they snuggled up together. | 1:17:13 | 1:17:18
And Ruby gurgled, | 1:17:18 | 1:17:20
"Goo!" | 1:17:20 | 1:17:21
Now, Alfie's favourite things are | 1:17:23 | 1:17:25
one - Ruby, | 1:17:25 | 1:17:27
two - aliens, | 1:17:27 | 1:17:29
three - rockets, | 1:17:29 | 1:17:31
four - the moon, | 1:17:31 | 1:17:32
in that exact order. | 1:17:32 | 1:17:34
That story was called My Sister Is An Alien. | 1:17:35 | 1:17:38
What a fantastic adventure Alfie and Ruby went on. | 1:17:38 | 1:17:41
I'm glad Alfie found out how much he loves his baby sister. | 1:17:41 | 1:17:45
You'd better take off your space helmet and get ready for bed. | 1:17:45 | 1:17:49
Perhaps you'll dream about visiting the moon. Hm. | 1:17:49 | 1:17:52
Sleep tight and I'll see you again soon for another bedtime story. | 1:17:52 | 1:17:55 |
