Have you had a bath?

It's bath time in tonight's bedtime story,

but Livi has other ideas.

This story is called On My Way To The Bath

and it's by Sarah Maizes and Michael Paraskevas.

-AS MOTHER:

-Bath time!

-AS LIVI:

-I do not want to have a bath.

Baths are boring.

Everything is more fun than baths.

-AS MOTHER:

-Come on, Livi. Let's go.

-AS LIVI:

-On my way to the bath, I slither off the sofa.

I am a snake!

I slink, I slide.

I stick my tongue out at my brother.

-AS MOTHER:

-Now!

-AS LIVI:

-On my way to the bath,

I see my blocks on the sitting room floor.

I will make a statue.

It will be a statue of me holding a cat.

-AS MOTHER:

-Today, Livi.

-AS LIVI:

-On my way to the bath, I do a cartwheel.

I am a professional gymnastics girl.

I bend, I balance and stretch.

Watch me do a perfect split.

-AS MOTHER:

-I need you in the bath!

-AS LIVI:

-On my way to the bath, I see my sister in her room.

She's listening to music.

Hey, I can sing that song just like a rock star.

# La-la-la, laaaa! #

I will put on a show.

-AS MOTHER:

-The water is getting cold!

-AS LIVI:

-On my way to the bath, I pass the guinea pigs,

Leo and Mellie, my loyal minions.

It's time to plan our latest caper.

They will help me rule the world.

-AS MOTHER:

-Get in the bath now!

-AS LIVI:

-On my way to the bath, I march.

I'm in a parade. I play the tuba.

As I march down the street, the crowd goes wild for my tuba solo.

PRETENDS TO PLAY TUBA

-AS MOTHER:

-I mean it, do you hear me?

-AS LIVI:

-On my way to the bath, I pass through a jungle,

a thick, dark jungle. I'm looking for sloths.

Oh, no! Quicksand!

I swing to safety.

-AS MOTHER:

-I'm counting to ten!

-AS LIVI:

-On my way to the bath, I hide behind the bathroom door.

I am a jungle cat.

I see an unsuspecting hedgehog.

-AS MOTHER:

-One, two, three...

-AS LIVI:

-I wait, I watch.

-AS MOTHER:

-Four, five, six...

-AS LIVI:

-I sneak, I stalk.

-AS MOTHER:

-Seven, eight, nine...

-AS LIVI:

-I pounce! Rawwwrrrr!

-AS MOTHER:

-Ahh!

Ten. Get in!

-AS LIVI:

-I get in.

I play, I use soap,

I use my seahorse flannel to get very, very clean.

Even my toes are clean.

Toes are my seahorse's speciality.

-AS MOTHER:

-OK, Livi, time to get out.

Livi?

-AS LIVI:

-I am a shark.

That story was called On My Way To The Bath.

Livi had a lot of adventures on her way to the bath

and I think she had fun when she eventually got in the bath, too.
