Hello. I'm Kacey. | 0:27:06 | 0:27:08
Are you really good at something? | 0:27:09 | 0:27:12
I'm good at jumping in puddles. | 0:27:12 | 0:27:14
And I'm quite good at making daisy chains to give to my friends. | 0:27:14 | 0:27:18
But I'm not as good at building as Winston in tonight's bedtime story. | 0:27:18 | 0:27:23
The story is called What Friends Do Best. | 0:27:25 | 0:27:28
Winston was great at building things. | 0:27:29 | 0:27:32
He was always building something for somebody. | 0:27:32 | 0:27:35
He had built a car for himself, | 0:27:35 | 0:27:38
a boat for Alice and a motorbike for Ralph. | 0:27:38 | 0:27:41
He had built them all by himself. | 0:27:41 | 0:27:44
"Building things is what I do best," said Winston proudly. | 0:27:44 | 0:27:50
And everyone agreed. | 0:27:50 | 0:27:51
One morning Ralph and Alice popped round and found Winston | 0:27:51 | 0:27:55
in his workshop looking very pleased with himself. | 0:27:55 | 0:27:59
"I'm going to build something big!" Winston told them. | 0:27:59 | 0:28:03
And he showed them a drawing. | 0:28:03 | 0:28:06
"That is REALLY big!" said Alice. | 0:28:06 | 0:28:10
"Are you sure you can build it all by yourself?" | 0:28:10 | 0:28:13
"Of course," said Winston. | 0:28:13 | 0:28:15
"Building things is what I do best." | 0:28:15 | 0:28:17
The next morning three trucks arrived | 0:28:17 | 0:28:21
and delivered hundreds of bits and pieces. | 0:28:21 | 0:28:24
Some of the bits were very large and difficult to carry. | 0:28:24 | 0:28:29
"Can I help?" asked Ralph. "I'm good at carrying large things." | 0:28:29 | 0:28:34
"It's all right," said Winston. | 0:28:34 | 0:28:36
"I can do it myself." | 0:28:36 | 0:28:39
But some of the bits were so large that Winston couldn't carry them. | 0:28:39 | 0:28:43
The next day Winston started sorting through the smaller pieces. | 0:28:43 | 0:28:49
Some of the pieces were very tiny and difficult to find. | 0:28:49 | 0:28:54
"Can I help?" asked Alice. "I'm good at finding small things." | 0:28:56 | 0:29:01
"It's all right," said Winston, "I can do it myself." | 0:29:01 | 0:29:06
But some of the pieces were so tiny | 0:29:06 | 0:29:08
that Winston couldn't find them at all. | 0:29:08 | 0:29:11
A week went by, | 0:29:13 | 0:29:14
and Alice and Ralph began to get very worried. | 0:29:14 | 0:29:18
They hadn't seen Winston for days. | 0:29:18 | 0:29:21
"He's never taken so long to build anything before," said Ralph. | 0:29:21 | 0:29:25
"He's never built anything that big before," said Alice. | 0:29:25 | 0:29:29
"Let's make sure that he's all right." | 0:29:29 | 0:29:32
They found Winston sitting on the floor of his workshop, | 0:29:32 | 0:29:36
surrounded by all the bits and pieces. | 0:29:36 | 0:29:40
Everything looked much the same as it had done a week ago, | 0:29:40 | 0:29:43
except Winston, who looked very miserable. | 0:29:43 | 0:29:47
"Winston?" said Alice, "What's the matter?" | 0:29:47 | 0:29:52
"Everything!" said Winston. | 0:29:52 | 0:29:54
"Look at all these bits and pieces. | 0:29:54 | 0:29:57
"Half of them are too large to carry, | 0:29:57 | 0:30:00
"and the other half are too small to find." | 0:30:00 | 0:30:03
"So you haven't built anything?" said Ralph. | 0:30:03 | 0:30:06
"No," said Winston, bursting into tears. | 0:30:06 | 0:30:10
"And building things is supposed to be what I do best." | 0:30:10 | 0:30:15
"It's just as well we're here, then," said Ralph. | 0:30:15 | 0:30:20
"Yes!" said Alice. "Where can we start?" | 0:30:20 | 0:30:23
"Don't bother!" said Winston. "I'll never build it." | 0:30:23 | 0:30:28
"Nonsense!" insisted Alice. | 0:30:28 | 0:30:30
"All you need is a little help." | 0:30:30 | 0:30:32
Alice sorted through the small pieces and found the right ones, | 0:30:32 | 0:30:38
and Ralph carried the large bits to where they needed to be. | 0:30:38 | 0:30:42
And after a while Winston got up and started building, | 0:30:42 | 0:30:48
which after all was what he did best. | 0:30:48 | 0:30:52
They worked all day and all night, | 0:30:52 | 0:30:56
and, bit by bit, piece by piece, | 0:30:56 | 0:30:59
they put it together, together. | 0:30:59 | 0:31:03
Until... | 0:31:03 | 0:31:04
it was done! | 0:31:04 | 0:31:06
"You see, Winston?" said Ralph, as they zoomed upward. | 0:31:06 | 0:31:11
"Building things really IS what you do best." | 0:31:11 | 0:31:15
"But I couldn't have done it without your help," said Winston. | 0:31:15 | 0:31:19
"Well," laughed Alice as she winked at Ralph, | 0:31:19 | 0:31:23
"helping is what friends do best." | 0:31:23 | 0:31:26
And that story was called What Friends Do Best. | 0:31:27 | 0:31:30
Are you good at helping? | 0:31:30 | 0:31:32
Well, maybe tomorrow you can find a friend to help, | 0:31:33 | 0:31:36
but now it's time to go to bed. | 0:31:36 | 0:31:38
Sleep tight, and I'll see you soon for another story. | 0:31:39 | 0:31:43
Now, I wonder who I can help tomorrow... | 0:31:43 | 0:31:47
