Counting sheep are the same, like you two are. You're both rabbits.

because one is green and one is red.

And I know another thing that's different. The Vrooms have wheels.

The rest of us have got legs, so the Vrooms are different to all of us.

No, that's not right. They're not different to the story train.

The story train's got wheels!

Even though the story train and the Vrooms have got wheels,

-they're different.

-You're right, Precious. They are different.

The Vrooms have wheels that make them go fast.

The train has wheels that make it strong.

We're going to have a story.

-Maybe about animals.

-Lots and lots of different animals.

Well, who's ready for a story?

-Vroom! Vroom!

-We are.

-Is it one about a tiger?

-Or kangaroos?

Hm, I was thinking of something different.

Aha! I know just the book.

-Is everyone settled down and ready to listen?

-Yes, we're ready, Dan.

-And all of you, sitting down comfy and ready to listen?

-Ready, Dan.

-Story time!

-This story is called Play Time.

It was written by Sue Nicholson and the pictures are by Vivienne Heath.

"I don't want to play with Ruby," wailed Ella.

"She plays fairies and wears all pink and is so quiet."

When Ruby arrived, she was wearing a pink fairy dress,

pink fairy wings, pink slippers and a shiny pink tiara.

Look at her pink clothes! Milly and Lilly would love to play with Ruby.

Loopy and I wouldn't. Ruby only wants to play fairies.

Let's see what happens in the story.

"What would you like to play?" asked Ella.

"I don't know," whispered Ruby shyly.

"We could could play with dolls or colour in or play fairies,"

suggested Ella. "No, thank you. I left my dolls at home.

"I did colouring in this morning

"and I love playing fairies, but not today."

"I like your climbing frame," said Ruby. Ella was surprised.

"Do you want to play on it?" Ruby nodded and smiled.

Ella showed Ruby how she liked to hang upside down.

Ruby tried it and liked it. "Everything is pink," she squeaked,

as her dress flopped over her face. "Can I try it on?" asked Ella.

"Of course you can," replied Ruby.

Ella showed Ruby how she liked to shimmy up the climbing pole.

Ruby tried it and liked it and was very fast.

"It's my slippers!" shouted Ruby. "They're good at gripping."

"Can I try them?" asked Ella. "Of course," replied Ruby.

Ella showed Ruby how high she could swing. Ruby tried it and liked it.

and swung higher and higher and higher.

"It's my fairy wings!" yelled Ruby. "They help me to fly."

"Really? Can I try them on?" asked Ella.

"Of course you can," replied Ruby. Then Ruby saw the sandpit.

Sandpit! I love playing in my sandpit.

-You'd enjoy playing with Ella and Ruby, wouldn't you?

-Vroom!

-Yes!

"Do you want to build sandcastles?" asked Ella. "Oh, yes," yelled Ruby.

"A fabulous fairy castle."

So they did. And Ella and Ruby both liked it.

And they put the shiny pink tiara right at the very top.

The end. I did enjoy that story. Did you?
