Phew! Hello, Vrooms. That looked like noisy fun.

A decider? They want one more race to decide who's the winner.

Be quick. Precious and I want to listen to Sweetie's lullaby.

They'll take off their whirly twirlers

-so they can race on the ground.

-They look tired.

They do. But those Vrooms never like to stop.

DEEP GROWL-LIKE RUMBLE

-What's that funny noise?

-I don't know.

They're snoring!

-The Vrooms are asleep.

-Sssh.

Brilliant, Sweetie. You've played them to sleep.

Actually, I think they were really tired anyway.

Let's see if I can hook up their carriage without waking them.

The Vrooms are really tired so they can stay asleep till we get there.

I was thinking maybe... A-ha!

I know just the book. Is everyone settled down and ready to listen?

-I'm ready.

And you. Sitting down comfy and ready to listen.

'Ready, Dan.'

This story is called Sonny's Big Band.

It was written by Tiffany Leeson and the pictures are by David Plant.

Sonny turned on his radio and danced to the music.

He loved music and decided to start his own band.

Sonny asked Suki if she would be in his band.

"Sorry, Sonny, I'm too busy for music," she snapped.

Sonny asked Bruno if he would be in his band.

"Sorry, Sonny, I'm too busy for music," he barked.

Sonny asked Heila if she would be in his band.

"Sorry, Sonny, I'm too busy for music," she growled.

Poor, Sonny, I hope he finds someone to play with.

So, Sonny sat down and thought.

When he'd finished thinking, he took his bag and his biggest net

and he set off to catch some sounds.

VROOMS TOOT THEIR HORNS

He needed one clonk, two shoop-shoops,

three thumpety-thumps, four tinga-lingas

and five bippity-bops.

And, after hunting here and there, after hunting high and low,

he caught them all and put them in his bag.

Sonny took them all back home and then stuck them all together

with glue and sticky tape and clothes pegs

to make his very own one man band.

Clonk, shoop-shoop, thumpety-thump, tinga-linga, bippity-bop.

Clonk, shoop-shoop, thumpety-thump, tinga-linga, bippity-bop.

When Suki and Bruno and Heila heard, they all wanted to join in.

So, Sonny played loud, loud music and they all danced

and danced until tea time.

-It was really good.

I loved those sounds. Thumpety-thump, tinga-linga.

-Shoop-shoop.

-LAUGHS

And I'm glad Sonny's friends joined in with him.
