I know just the book. Is everyone settled down and ready to listen?

-Yes, Driver Dan. We're ready!

This story is called The Enormous Giant Cake. Dave Ingham wrote it.

Sam Church did the pictures.

"Once upon a time, far far away, there was a happy village

"by a smoky mountain.

"The happy villagers were very lucky

"because their neighbour was a friendly, helpful giant!

"The friendly giant helped on their farms, in the forest and at the lake

"and even at the village school.

"So the happy villagers decided to have a big party to thank the giant

"for all his help.

"A party with games and presents and dancing and...

"an enormous cake!

"The cake was made with 20 sacks of flour, 40 bags of sugar,

"60 tubs of butter,

"80 bars of chocolate

"and 100 eggs!

-Yum!

-You like the sound of this cake, don't you, Loopy?

"The enormous cake was so delicious

"all the villagers' tummies rumbled when they saw it.

"The friendly helpful giant's tummy rumbled when he smelt it.

"And the smoky mountain rumbled too.

"Then the smoky mountain grumbled, shook and flames shot out the top.

"The villagers all ran to hide.

"But the friendly giant, quick as a flash,

"threw the enormous cake - up!

"up! up! Onto the top of the smoky mountain.

"Everyone in the village was so happy.

"The party went on all day and all night.

"And the friendly giant had a lovely time - even without cake!

"The end." Wasn't that a good story?

It was a brilliant story. Giants are lucky, they have enormous cakes!

Giants are really good to have as an enormous friend!

Just like dinosaurs!
