Loopy loves bouncing on his trampoline.

Let's go and see him, shall we?

-Hello, Loopy.

-Hi, Driver Dan. Oh, what's that?

Good question.

It's made of metal.

Oh, and it's the same colour as the Story Train.

-So it is, Loopy.

-Maybe it fell off one of the carriages.

-Hmm.

I don't think so. But let's check, just in case.

-Ha-ha! Look! Twinkle's checking too.

-Thanks, Twinkle.

Well it's definitely not from the Story Train.

-So where has it come from, Driver Dan?

-I have no idea.

-Maybe Bippity knows what it is.

-Wa-hey! Good idea!

Twinkle's spotted something. Is it Bippity?

-CHILD:

-Stop, Driver Dan! Stop!

-CHILD:

-Driver Dan, I think something's wrong.

You're right, and it sounds important. Let's go and find out.

-Hello, you two. What's the matter?

-We found this.

-We think it's fallen off the Story Train.

-It's the same colour, see?

It is indeed. Don't worry.

It definitely hasn't fallen off the Story Train.

-We found another piece like it, too.

-Really?

-Where have they come from, then?

-We don't know.

We're trying to find Bippity to ask if he knows.

-Would you like to come with us?

-Yeah!

-Yes please, Driver Dan.

Hm, has Twinkle spotted Bippity this time?

-Can you see who it is?

-CHILD: Listen. I can hear something.

-CHILD:

-It sounds like somebody's making something.

It's Bippity's carriage. Where is he?

Let's go and find out, shall we?

Bip, bip. Oh, there are none left. Where have they gone?

It won't work without them.

-It's a toy train.

Bip-bip. Yes! Thanks for bringing them back to me.

I was driving my train around

earlier, bip-bip, like this,

when I lost control of it.

Oh. Did it crash?

Bippity-bip.

No, but it zoomed off

and fell into lots of pieces.

Oh, dear.

I had to search everywhere.

I thought I'd found all of them.

Except for the pieces that Loopy and Hip and Hop found.

Exactly! Bippity-bip!

BEEPING

-Bip-bip!

-Phew!

TWINKLE CHIRPS

You're right, Twinkle, it is time to go.

-Who wants to go on the big Story Train?

-Yeah! Story Corner!

-We're going to have a story!

-Bip-bip...

ALL: Hooray!

All hooked up. Are we ready to go, Twinkle?

TWINKLE CHIRPS

-Are you ready, too? Then let's go!

-ALL: All aboard the Story Train!

CHILD: We're going to have a story.

It might be about a toy train.

-Or finding something.

-Or playing with friends.

-Who's ready for a story, then?

-We are, Driver Dan.

I was thinking maybe...

A-ha! I know just the book!

Is everyone settled down, ready to listen?

-We're ready, Driver Dan.

-And all of you?

-Sitting down comfy and ready to listen?

-ALL: Yes, Driver Dan.

This story is called Zoom Zoom Roller by Andrew Berkeley

and the pictures are by Olga Stern.

Roller the robot sat with her

friends Dolpy the doll,

Tim Tam the teddy

and Snowy the bunny,

watching raindrops dripping down the window.

"There's not much we can do today." Sighed Dolpy.

Oh, it's a story about a robot, Bippity, just like you.

Bip-bip hooray!

Roller the robot flashed into action.

"Let's go on an adventure.

"We could watch the Outer Space Planet Parade.

"We'd better hurry, we don't want to be late,"

she bleeped, handing round space boots and helmets.

"Ready, Roller," cried everyone as they climbed into Roller's rocket.

Five, four, three, two, one, blast off!

Roller and her friends zoomed into space.

They raced through galaxies, dodged past asteroids

and whizzed across shooting stars until they landed on the moon.

Woah! A rocket to the moon! Whoosh!

The air buzzed and bleeped with the chatter of aliens

from all over the galaxy.

Roller felt a bit shy at first.

Some of the aliens had strange coloured hair.

Some had wiggly arms, some more than one head.

But they all had a great big smile for Roller and her friends.

"Hello," they waved. Then the music started and the parade began.

First the Martians did a march.

Next the Moon Men did some wobbles

and then the Venusians did some super-high star jumps.

"Hooray," shouted everyone.

"Would the Earthlings like to join the parade?" asked the judges.

"Yes, please," cried Roller and her friends.

Dolpy went first, with a dolly shake.

Tim Tam followed, with a teddy tumble.

Roller did a robot stomp

and Snowy showed off her very best snowy bunny-hop.

-Hee-hee! Hip and I are good at bunny-hops.

-Yeah!

Then everybody jumped about together,

mixing up all their favourite moves in a great big moon dance.

There was just enough time for a yummy slice of moon cake

before it was time for Roller and her friends to zoom home.

"Goodbye and thank you for the best day ever," they called.

"It was out of this world!"

The next day it was raining again

but Roller and her friends weren't bored.

"Come on everyone," cried Dolpy,

"Let's do the moon dance."

And they wobbled

and marched and tumbled

and stomped till the sun came out.

Bippity-bip. I liked the robot best.

Hee-hee! And I liked the funny bunny-hops.

The aliens' moon dance made me laugh.

This is a silly bouncy dance.

Yeah, we're all moon dancing.

The parade was great fun. ALL: Yeah.
