Welcome to the world of epic. | 0:00:05 | 0:00:08
Sit back, strap yourself in and get ready to become epic at everything! | 0:00:08 | 0:00:13
Welcome to your quick blast of epicness. | 0:00:16 | 0:00:19
So what are we waiting for? Let's do this! | 0:00:19 | 0:00:22
First up, what do you get if you mix snow and planks of wood? This! | 0:00:26 | 0:00:32
Freestyle skiing - the most epic winter sport going. | 0:00:34 | 0:00:38
But how do you become a freestyle skier, I hear you ask. | 0:00:38 | 0:00:41
To show you how, we've got this dude. | 0:00:41 | 0:00:44
Hello. I'm James Woods, or Woodsy, | 0:00:44 | 0:00:46
and I'm going to show you how to freestyle ski like a pro. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:50
Woodsy has opted for both long and short hair. I like it. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:54
The first thing you've got to do is learn how to ski. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
There, I've learnt it. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:00
Obviously, learning to ski takes a little bit longer. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:03
Next, you've got to get used to being in the air. | 0:01:03 | 0:01:06
And that's a small jump and we call it a pop. | 0:01:06 | 0:01:08
The more you practise, the easier and smoother your tricks will look. | 0:01:11 | 0:01:14
Next is the rails, and again we're going to start basic | 0:01:17 | 0:01:20
and work our way up. | 0:01:20 | 0:01:21
The key here is to keep nice equal weight on both skis. | 0:01:21 | 0:01:25
If you can't get yourself to a slope every day, skateboarding | 0:01:25 | 0:01:28
and rollerblading really helps. | 0:01:28 | 0:01:30
Once you've done that and mastered your fear, in a couple of years | 0:01:30 | 0:01:33
you'll be a freeskier and you'll be able to do tricks like this. | 0:01:33 | 0:01:37
And that is how to freestyle ski like a pro. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
OK, and if that's got you hungry for more, | 0:01:46 | 0:01:48
then get those leg muscles at the ready | 0:01:48 | 0:01:50
because we've got a cheerleader to show you a supercool stunt. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:54
Hi, I'm Luke. I'm going to show you a cheerleading jump - the toe touch. | 0:01:56 | 0:01:59
Five, six, seven, eight. One, two, three, four. | 0:01:59 | 0:02:03
Five, six, seven, eight. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:05
First, bend your knees and clasp your arms in front of you like this. | 0:02:05 | 0:02:09
-Got it. -Next you're going to push your arms up. | 0:02:09 | 0:02:12
-Yup. -And straighten your knees. -OK. | 0:02:12 | 0:02:14
Finally you're going to slice your arms down into a T, | 0:02:14 | 0:02:17
explode through your legs, jumping, landing on the balls of your feet. | 0:02:17 | 0:02:21
So that's arms out, legs up, jump and land. Easy. | 0:02:21 | 0:02:24
Put those steps together and it should look something like this. | 0:02:24 | 0:02:27
Five, six, seven, eight, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. | 0:02:27 | 0:02:32
And that's how to do a cheerleading toe touch. | 0:02:32 | 0:02:35
Cheers to you, Lukey, my mate. You wonderful cheerleader. | 0:02:36 | 0:02:40
Now for something totally different. | 0:02:40 | 0:02:42
If you have a pen and paper then you can do this next epic little tip. | 0:02:42 | 0:02:46
I'm Ed Petrie and I'm going to show you how to draw your own comic strip. | 0:02:53 | 0:02:56
Why? Because I can. | 0:02:56 | 0:02:58
So the first thing you need to do | 0:02:58 | 0:03:00
if you're going to draw your own comic strip is have an idea | 0:03:00 | 0:03:02
about what the comic strip is going to be about. | 0:03:02 | 0:03:04
Nobody wants to read a comic about a man going to the shops. | 0:03:04 | 0:03:07
It'd be rubbish. So I've come up with an idea for a guy called Gary Rotter. | 0:03:07 | 0:03:11
He's the world's worst wizard. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
Now I need a story, so I was thinking he's rubbish wizard | 0:03:13 | 0:03:16
and he hasn't done his homework so he gets turned into a frog. | 0:03:16 | 0:03:18
But finds out he quite likes being a frog | 0:03:18 | 0:03:20
because it means he can catch flies with his tongue. | 0:03:20 | 0:03:22
The next thing to do is block it out. | 0:03:22 | 0:03:24
Don't worry too much about the drawing or anything. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:26
You just want to get the story down. | 0:03:26 | 0:03:28
-I've worked out I need five panels for this. -Panels? | 0:03:28 | 0:03:30
That's the squares that you draw the cartoon in. | 0:03:30 | 0:03:32
It looks a bit weird when I draw it out on the page. | 0:03:32 | 0:03:34
It's not symmetrical. So I'm going to do a title panel as well and have six | 0:03:34 | 0:03:38
and it will look nice and neat. | 0:03:38 | 0:03:39
So the next thing you're going to do is try | 0:03:39 | 0:03:41
and do a pretty good drawing in pencil. | 0:03:41 | 0:03:44
This may take you some time. | 0:03:45 | 0:03:47
That probably seemed really quick to you. It took hours. | 0:03:50 | 0:03:54
Anyway, there you go. My finished pencil drawing. | 0:03:54 | 0:03:58
-I'm happy with my drawing. -He's happy. -Now the scary bit. The ink. | 0:03:58 | 0:04:01
Now you can use any pen you like to do this, whatever suits you. | 0:04:01 | 0:04:04
I've found over the years that I quite like using a nib pen. | 0:04:04 | 0:04:09
Again, this may take some time. | 0:04:09 | 0:04:11
Whoa, what are you doing, Ed? Don't rub it out, we haven't seen it yet. | 0:04:15 | 0:04:19
-Now I've rubbed all the pencil off. -Ah. | 0:04:19 | 0:04:21
Finally, to colour it in, I like to use watercolours. | 0:04:21 | 0:04:24
I can be nice and messy with them. | 0:04:24 | 0:04:26
Again, this may take you some time | 0:04:26 | 0:04:28
so whilst Ed does that I'll remind you how to make your own comic. | 0:04:28 | 0:04:32
Get an idea. Draw it in the panels in pencil. Go over it in pen. | 0:04:32 | 0:04:37
Add a splash of colour and voila. | 0:04:37 | 0:04:39
And that is how you design your own comic strip. | 0:04:39 | 0:04:41
So there you have it - your quick blast of epicness. | 0:04:41 | 0:04:46
Now go forth and be epic at everything! | 0:04:46 | 0:04:50 |
