Episode 5 Escape from Scorpion Island

Scorpion Island has been more unpredictable than ever.

And now the island has revealed a most dramatic shake-up.

Now only one team can escape from Scorpion Island.

Team Sting or Team Claw.

THEY GASP

The boys and the girls are to be separated

and the bonds they've created will be ripped apart.

We made this camp ours and then, boom!

Suddenly we've just been told we are splitting into Sting and Claw.

I've spent so long being friends with them but the island's twisted it up

and now we've got to make friends with our new people.

Now they must fight each other to be the first captains

of the legendary Team Sting and Team Claw.

It would be amazing if I could be

the very first captain of Sting or Claw.

I would be elated if I was chosen to be the first team captain

of Sting or Claw.

But some will take the competition too far.

I crushed them slightly in my hand

so when I throw them they'll easily crash.

(I've done it!)

This is Scorpion Island.

Hello, and welcome to Scorpion Island.

The island with a deviously cruel master plan.

Two teams of adventurers are on the island

and they are having the most amazing experience.

Let's not forget they still need to be the best

because only one team will escape on the final day.

Scorpion Island relishes in its splendid isolation

and uses its natural world as its impenetrable defence system.

The island is teeming with life, its precious treasure.

In recent times an adventurer came from far across the seas.

He was a Fortune Hunter whose mission it was

to plunder the island of its legendary treasure.

He took on the island's challenges and succeeded

but when he failed in his final escape, the furious island

mischievously captured the Fortune Hunter's spirit and locked it away.

Aaaaah!

Now ten adventurers must follow the path he created.

Their mission, to escape the island.

They must battle it out in terrifying challenges

and the victors win an island treasure.

The more they win, the greater the advantage they'll have

in the Final Race To Escape.

The adventurers are about to find out

who the captains are going to be

for the very last day in teams of boys and girls.

So, teams, you still have one more day

as girls versus boys on the island so now it's time to reveal

who will be your final captains for your fifth day on Scorpion Island.

-The captain for the girls will be Natty.

-Yay!

-Yes!

-And the captain for the boys will be James.

-Yes!

OK, Natty, there was a big girl cheer there.

How do you feel about being captain for the fifth day?

I feel really eager and excited for the challenge.

Big changes ahead,

so how are you going to enjoy your last day with the girls?

I think I'll make sure it's fun more than anything else.

Boys, what about you? How are you feeling, James?

I'm feeling quite good actually cos it's the last day

and I'm going to try to make our team win,

try our best to win on my last day.

-So, the boys go out on a high?

-Yeah.

OK, interesting. I look forward to it.

It's the fifth day on the island, your final day as boys and girls.

So, enjoy yourselves.

The final team captains are Natty for the girls

and James for the boys.

But they will have to lead their teams on no ordinary day.

What begins as boys and girls must end as Sting and Claw.

What do you think will happen now, cos we'll be split up

into Claw and Sting?

I don't know. We may get separated

and we won't have the friendship we have now.

It's going to be really bad

because we are splitting up with our team-mates

and we'll have to fight against some of them.

But it's good, cos we'll have more of a mixture

cos we'll have girls on our team.

It was a shock when we found out that we were going to be split up

and I thought we were going to stay girls and boys

but then it ends up the island has made a twist.

We have really actually now started bonding as a team

and now we find out we're going to get split up again.

So, it's exciting going to have those teams

but also a bit sad that after all that time together

and working it out as a team we are going to get split up.

I would like Sting.

I would like Claw.

See, we're enemies already and see what it is doing to us.

Cos we started bonding properly and we made this camp ours

and then, boom!

Suddenly we are told we are going to be split into Sting and Claw.

Apart from when the island started to rain on us.

It's not fair on us cos we didn't expect it.

We were starting to find out what strengths and weaknesses we all had.

We started to bond properly and we've turned into family

and we're just being split up.

The adventurers may be shocked to discover that their journey will

now take a very different path but the Fortune Hunter is their guide

and he will light the way for them on this dark, foreboding island.

He knows that only the bravest and brightest can escape

and free his spirit and has left a system of clues in a symbol ring

to assist the ten adventurers.

But once again, the island is furious

that the Fortune Hunter is still attempting to help them

and has smashed the ring into pieces.

Your time starts now.

Try this one, I think I remember this one.

As the adventurers piece the shards of the ring back together again

they know that with each day that passes

they have a more complicated puzzle to solve.

-This one?

-Yeah, this one.

-OK.

No, that one doesn't fit. I tried.

-Try this one.

-You dropped one on the floor.

There's one on the floor.

Down here.

Good teamwork by the boys.

This looks like it.

There are seven pieces of symbol ring here

but only four make the ring complete.

Quick, quick, quick. Is it this one?

Yeah, this one. No, wait, it doesn't go there.

The team that complete the ring the quickest

will get to play for an advantage from the Fortune Hunter.

Uh-oh. We're stuffed.

Teamwork by the girls.

No, we need this one.

We're done.

Blew you out of the water, boys.

You've got to admit that was a good performance by the girls.

This is the third time the girls

have pieced together the symbol ring quickly

and they can again play for an advantage from the Fortune Hunter.

The Fortune Hunter knows that only

the brightest adventurers will be able to free his spirit.

Khadie has proved she knows the symbol ring.

I remember it like a big story.

I kind of make it a long story and by the end,

I literally know the whole ring.

But does Khadie know it as well as the Fortune Hunter?

In order for her and Natty to prove themselves to him

they are about to face the toughest memory trial yet.

They only have ten seconds to look at the symbol ring.

One of the symbols will then change.

If they can correctly identify the symbol

they will gain an advantage in the island challenge.

OK, when I lift this sheet you'll have ten seconds

to memorise as many symbols as possible.

-Are you ready?

-Yes.

-Your time starts now.

Test your memory too, but quickly.

You've got five seconds left.

Three, two, one.

Time is up.

This is where things get really tough.

Look away now. One symbol is about to change slightly.

Natty and Khadie must identify the symbol that has changed.

You have two minutes to choose a symbol that has changed

and your two minutes starts now.

The stakes are greater than ever.

If the girls are incorrect

then the advantage will automatically default to the boys.

Wasn't this symbol the other way round?

I don't know. No.

It was this one. This had two, didn't it?

-Erm...

-I'm sure it did.

I'm not sure.

Are they all right on your side?

Was there three of these?

Yeah, there were three of those.

Are you pretty sure?

Let's have a look through this, OK, Khadie? Let's have a look.

Shell.

-Is that wrong? That looks different.

-Hang on.

-Is it that way round? Or is it...

-Oh.

Have a good look at each symbol.

Hang on, there's two shells.

-Yeah, there were, trust me, there were.

-OK.

-Didn't that shell also have those?

-No, trust me.

Oh, wait. The sun. Did that have that black outline?

I think it's either this or this.

-No, I don't think that sun had the black outline like that.

-It did.

Three, two, one. Your time is up.

Girls, what is your decision?

We think it's the sun.

-You think it's the sun. Final answer.

-Yes.

-Noo!

-Yes!

Final answer. OK, I have accepted the sun as the final answer.

I can reveal...

-..you are, in fact, wrong.

-Yes!

-It was, in fact, the shark.

-Ah, what?

It was a very slight change.

If you look at this shark, the old shark had fins and a smaller eye.

-So there weren't three boats?

-There weren't three boats.

I thought it was the boats so I was trying to put them off

by saying it's the sun.

-You boys wouldn't have got that either.

-No.

-That's honest.

-I think it was our best tactic to lose.

It was our tactic all along.

You meant to lose, OK!

The girls have lost.

The boys will discover what the Fortune Hunter's advantage is later

but for now he is trying to issue a warning to the boys.

The shark changes shape.

The tiniest detail in the Island Challenge

can have the most dramatic effect.

And today, one detail could turn everything on its head.

Team captains James and Natty have found

the Fortune Hunter's old typewriter

and are keen to know what message he has for them today.

It says "Adventurers, I want you to battle against the island

"and succeed where I failed. So this is it.

"You are soon to become Sting and Claw."

"The island will demand that you throw and aim to be the best.

"Don't let me down."

This is an Island Challenge like no other.

For the first time

the adventurers must battle the island as individuals

and only the best boy and the best girl

will become founding captains of Sting and Claw.

I think the challenge might be

we have to throw and aim something into a hoop or something.

I think that's why it says throw and aim,

so we have to aim something as well as throwing.

-Maybe it's a target.

-It says throw to be the best.

Two people get to be captain, so they're the best.

We're still boys and girls working for our own end.

So this guy, yeah, he finds out information pretty fast.

So this is it, you are soon to become Sting and Claw.

We only found out that last night, yeah.

He's watching us!

The adventurers have heard the Fortune Hunter's advice

and now for the very first time they must face the island as individuals.

The adventurers are not only battling to lead Sting and Claw

but each on is fighting for today's island treasure too.

All the adventurers want the island treasure

because the more treasure their team is awarded

the greater the advantage they'll gain in the final race

to release the Fortune Hunter's spirit and escape.

The fifth island treasure to be won is the silver crab.

It represents the guarded nature of the impenetrable Scorpion Island.

The boys have three island treasures,

the girls only have one

and all the adventurers now want the silver crab

because the more treasure their teams own

the greater the advantage they'll have in the final escape.

First up, it's the girls.

That's Eleanor,

Lizzie,

Jeremy,

Khadie

and today's captain, Natty.

This is The Divider.

In the heart of the island

a massive target is suspended seven metres high

and the adventurers must launch themselves across

on a giant rope swing

to splat rocks at it as close to the centre as possible.

Each adventurer has three swings and three throws

and there is enormous pressure on them here

because the boy and the girl who do best

will become the first captains of the legendary Sting and Claw.

It's a real privilege and a great responsibility too

because these first captains will pick the rest of their teams.

Crucial decisions which will impact every single step

of their Scorpion Island journeys.

Plus, the adventurer who splats nearest the bull's-eye

will also win the latest island treasure,

the silver crab.

So it does not get any more important than this

and you know that they are all going to throw themselves into it.

Hello, girls, welcome to The Divider.

Whoever wins this game will determine

who will be the new team captains for Sting and for Claw.

So, my first question is, who wants to be the new captain?

You all do! Eleanor, why would you like to be a captain?

Because I like bossing people around.

I don't want to be really bossy but I like making people do what I want.

-Right.

-And I would also like to tell boys what to do.

So basically you want to be captain to boss the boys around?

-I'd be fair.

-But only if you're a girl.

That's your captain plan.

I'd be fair.

OK. You're captain now.

Tell me why you'd like to be captain for Sting or Claw.

If I was captain I would be fair to the whole team.

-OK.

-And I think it would be better with mixed teams

cos everyone has their own strength and weakness.

Now, tell me, Jeremy, why do you want to be a captain?

I like bossing people around as well but also

I like to get a bit more respected and looked after a bit more.

Khadie, tell me why you want to be captain.

I like leading teams and making sure everyone's in place.

Lizzie, you haven't said much. Why do you want to be captain?

Because I could get everyone to be, like,

let's try and win this, and be really in to it.

-You like to motivate people.

-Yeah.

These are different reasons you've all got.

-Are you ready?

-Yeah.

Natty's up first. The boys aren't allowed to watch

but the rest of the girls are eager to see if she has nerves of steel

needed to aim well while swinging at such height.

The game is about to start and I can see already

that Natty is looking pretty nervous.

-Are you very nervous?

-Yes.

-Come on, Natty.

-Are you ready?

-Yes.

Three, two, one...

-Go!

-She is launching herself out for her first throw.

Terrifyingly high and she is going for it. Oh!

Remember none of the adventurers have previously competed alone

they have always been part of a team and so Natty is coping brilliantly

with the stress of being first.

She splats her rock halfway out from the bull's-eye.

It's a solid start but she needs to improve

if she wants to triumph here.

It's time for Natty's second attempt.

I hope her confidence is going to be building.

She looks properly focused this time.

She's really concentrating on the target and she's off.

What a swing! And what a shot.

Bull's-eye.

Yes, Myleene, it was a bull's-eye but it did not properly splat.

Bad news.

So Natty's got her aim in. Now can she match it

with an even more forceful throw on her third and final go?

-Come on, Natty.

-All nervousness seems to have past.

Natty's just calmly taking a last look at the target before launch.

She is running out and it is a confident jump.

-Oh, yes!

-GIRLS: Whoo!

I am a bit freaked out by heights

and I was really happy with myself on the Island Challenge

because before I came to Scorpion Island I was like,

"I'll never jump off anything,

"I'll never bungee jump,"

and I actually jumped off a high platform

so I was proud of myself for that.

And you should be proud of yourself, Natty.

Throw one was safely on the target. Throw two was a bull's-eye,

just not forceful enough to properly splat but everything came together

for throw three which splatted right in the dead centre of the target.

It was a terrific shot but has she done enough to guarantee

she's going to be a captain?

It certainly sounds like she hopes so.

I'd really like to be captain, it'd be so cool.

-Now it's Eleanor's turn. Eleanor, are you ready?

-Yes.

-Nervous?

-No.

-Pretty confident?

-Yes!

-That's my girl. Ready?

-Yes.

-Three, two, one, off you go.

And this is a really enthusiastic launch and now the throw.

That was Eleanor's first go.

Didn't splat but she's got two left to go.

Eleanor seemed like she really enjoyed this swing

but was wriggling around too much to get her aim straight.

Not only that, but she didn't put enough force behind the rock

for it to splat.

So has all this taught her enough to make her second go count?

She is looking really purposeful now and here she goes again.

Oh, no, she's caught her foot that's put her in a right spin

still she's oooh... Over the target.

Well, Eleanor's laughing now

but this was not the go she was looking for.

It went wrong right at the start as she let one of her feet

drag on the launch platform, which spun her out of control.

She did well even to hurl a rock in the right direction

but as she didn't even hit the target

it now means everything rests on her last throw.

OK, Eleanor, hit the target this time.

-I'll try.

-OK.

Here we go. Third and final go for Eleanor.

And here's the shot. Oh!

How did that happen?

Eleanor DID hit the target but her stone didn't splat.

She didn't throw it hard enough, unfortunately.

And it wasn't the most fortunate of turns for Eleanor over all.

Her first throw hit just on the edge of the target.

She entirely missed with her second.

Her third was only slightly nearer the centre than her first.

But with no splats whatsoever it's a cert that Eleanor

won't be one of the first leaders of Sting or Claw. Bad luck for her.

I'm quite disappointed

at not being captain and choosing my team.

I hope some people think I'm good at stuff and pick me.

Everybody has a challenge they're not good at and this was mine.

Next up, it's Lizzie. Can she do better than Eleanor

and give Natty a real run for her money?

Remember, in Moving Target we saw her

demonstrate amazing throwing skills and we discovered

that she had a strong ball game background.

Where did that throwing action come from?

When I was younger I used to play softball and baseball.

So what can she do here?

-Lizzie, are you ready?

-Yeah.

OK, here we go. Three, two, one, go.

That's a confident launch, she's keeping a very straight line

and she's gone for the throw. Oh, wow.

First strike hit the target, however, the rock didn't splatter.

And that's a real shame

because this was a remarkable opening throw,

only marginally further from the centre than Natty's third shot

but Lizzie's still got two more attempts

at throwing harder and even more accurately

to be in with a chance of nabbing the captaincy.

Can she make them count?

OK, Lizzie. Three, two, one. Off you go.

A really good run up this time. Could this be lucky for her?

Oh, great splat but no.

Well, Lizzie throws with much more power this time

but sadly she doesn't hit the bull's-eye.

Still it's the second closest splat so far.

Can she do better with her last throw?

Here we go. Lizzie's third and final go.

So this is a last chance to challenge Natty's lead.

Three, two, one, go.

Another energetic launch. Very steady in the air and...ohh!

This was an impressive and amazingly consistent turn from Lizzie

and she showed no signs

of being remotely troubled by swinging through the air

higher than a double-decker bus.

Her first throw hit the bull's-eye but didn't splat.

Her second splatted but was a little off-centre

and her third splatted even closer to the middle.

However, neither of her splats beat Natty's best shot

and so at this stage she's still in the zone

to be one of the first captains and maybe even take the silver crab too.

Plus it means if Jeremy and Khadie are going to be contenders

they've absolutely got to shoot for bull's-eyes.

-OK, Jeremy, are you ready?

-Ready.

-Ready to boss those boys around.

-Uh-huh!

-Three, two, one, go.

She stepped off decisively, oh and she's swinging sideways, no!

Jeremy's first try did hit the board however it didn't hit the target.

She looked so confident but seemed to lose her nerve

and threw too early, with too little control

and too little strength to get a splat.

Now can she keep her cool and make this second throw count?

-You ready?

-Ready!

Three, two, one, go.

A strong step off

and she's keeping her eyes glued to... No!

Jeremy seemed more focused this time and threw with enough force

to get a quality splat

but her aim was off and her rock hit the side of the target.

So she needs to make her final throw count.

Right, Jeremy, third time lucky.

-Yes!

-Three, two, one, go.

A steady launch and she's looking so well balanced... No.

She hit the board. It didn't splatter. It doesn't count.

Poor Jeremy. She really did want to become team captain.

I'm disappointed cos I didn't actually figure out

the rock would be that hard to hit

and when I did it twice it didn't crack

and also my aim was completely off target.

That's right, Jeremy, your aim was off

so though you did achieve one splat you didn't get any on the target.

How frustrating.

Today really wasn't my day

but hopefully everything will come together.

So, Khadie is the last to swing for the girls.

-Khadie, are you ready?

-Ready.

OK, here we go. Three, two, one, go.

She's raced off, smooth swing. Looks like a strong throw. Ohh.

This was a fine first throw from Khadie, it's a splat

and it's just on the target but of course

if she's going to challenge Natty

she's really got to improve her aim

and she's only got two more throws to do it.

Time for a second swing.

And three, two, one, off you go.

Great speed from Khadie, and the line is true but can... Oh!

Khadie looks set for a fantastic shot here with a strong launch

and a poised swing but she throws too early

and only manages to splat on the very edge of the target.

It's further out than her first splat and that means

there's maximum pressure on her now

and she goes for the very last of the girl's swings.

-Khadie, third and final time. Are you ready?

-Ready.

Three, two, one, go.

What can she do this time?

She's looking really determined and... Oh!

Khadie's third and final attempt.

It actually came pretty close to the last one.

This was a decent performance from Khadie

with all three of her throws achieving on-target splats.

The last two hit exactly the same spot

but she never splatted anywhere near the bull's-eye

and so didn't get anywhere near victory.

Here's what the girls thought of The Divider.

It felt really fun.

I was a bit nervous the first run and jump,

but after that it got really fun, and it was pretty cool.

My prediction would be Natty

because she got hers right in the middle.

In my opinion right now I think Natty's the best captain.

It would've been nice to be captain but I don't think it'll be me.

You're right, Khadie, it won't be you,

but you weren't the furthest away from it either.

Eleanor didn't manage to get any splats at all

and Jeremy only splatted outside of the target.

Khadie did splat on the target but only right on the edge.

Lizzie splatted really near the centre of the target,

but the clear winner, with an extraordinary splat

right in the middle of the bull's-eye, was Natty.

She'll be the first captain of Sting or Claw

and will get to pick the rest of the team

but has she also done well enough

to beat the boys and win the latest island treasure, the silver crab?

We'll have to wait and see.

But right now we can find out what the girls felt about the Divider.

Girls, that was brilliant,

-looked like you had the time of your life.

-Awesome.

-I didn't do very well cos I didn't hit the board.

-But I enjoyed it.

All will be revealed later.

-I think they're good.

I feel they're going to enjoy flying in the air so much

As they face the island alone the pressure is mounting.

I'm feeling nervous, yeah, because I really want to be captain.

I have pretty good hand-eye co-ordination.

Hopefully I can, you know, pull out the big guns.

But their overwhelming competitive spirit goes one step too far.

I crushed them slightly

in my hand so that when I throw them they'd easily crash.

The island has told us

that some of you were seen poking your fingers into the rocks

to try and help them splat, giving you an unfair advantage.

The girls have faced the Island Challenge

and before they're split apart

they want to mark their last day together.

We're going to touch up the paint a bit

and make it look really pretty.

Maybe collect some wild flowers and make a sort of formation on the table

just to really show that this was the girl's camp.

The boys, meanwhile, have a very different plan.

It's the last day of boys and girls and of course I'm captain.

So I thought we'd make something special to finish it off.

I was thinking something like a boat?

What, and we'll sail it on there? Our little river down there.

We're building a boat, cos we live at the river camp

and it's our last day together.

We use bottles, sticks, leaves

and we need water, obviously, for it to float.

Natty may be the current captain of the girls,

but she also wants to lead a different team altogether.

I would feel, like, really amazing if I was chosen to be

the first captain of Sting or Claw.

I'd be so happy. I'd just feel elated.

I would try and lead our team to victory

and just be a captain that everyone could just put their trust in

and know that I won't let them down.

But it's not just Natty with her eye on the ultimate prize.

It would be

amazing if I could be the very first captain

for Sting or Claw.

I really, really want to be captain,

because it's just such an honour. I was the first captain for the boys

EVER on Scorpion Island

and I want to be the first captain for Sting or Claw on the island.

The triumphant team captains will have to pick who's in Sting and Claw

and some adventurers know who they'd like to be in a team with.

My first choice for the boys

would be James, because he's a very good swimmer.

And for the girls, it would probably be Natty,

because she's very good with her aim and target.

I would pick Lizzie, if I could,

because Lizzie has quite a lot of skills

and to have some girls mixed in with some boys

I think would be a really nice experience,

because girls have a great brain, whilst boys are very physical.

But before Jordan can take on The Divider,

there's one last thing he must do.

I think this is a great opportunity to say goodbye to the boy's team

-..and the girl's team.

-Yeah, and represent...

-Sting and Claw.

-Yeah.

-A new beginning.

-Yeah.

Scorpion Island is ever treacherous

and even Bessie has a bumpy ride on her maiden voyage.

Let's hope the boys have a smoother time

when they face the island alone in the Island Challenge.

The girls have already taken on The Divider.

In a clearing in the jungle, they each had three swings

at a giant target suspended seven metres up

and with each swing, they had to throw a paint-filled rock

as close to the centre as possible.

The stakes were as high as their swings,

because the girl who splattered nearest the bull's-eye

will join the most successful of the boys as the first captains,

when the island brings back Sting and Claw.

Plus, the adventurer who throws the best splat overall,

will also win the latest island treasure, the silver crab.

Despite some misfires and some problems hurling the rocks

hard enough so that they splattered, the girls did generally do well,

proving it's not size, but skill, that counts here.

And with an incredible splat, right in the bull's-eye,

it was Natty who came out on top.

She'll captain Sting or Claw, but we don't know

if she'll also be taking the silver crab, until the boys have played.

And as they won the memory trial, The Fortune Hunter

has rewarded them with an advantage here

and they're about to find out it's a really unusual one.

An extra swing, but only for one of their team-mates.

Could this make all the difference and who will conquer The Divider?

-Hello, boys, how are you doing?

-ALL: Good.

Good? Excellent. As you know, this morning, during the memory trial

you boys won it by default.

As a result of this, in addition to the three throws each of you get,

one of you will get an extra throw.

However, who gets that extra throw will be decided

between the five of you.

I want you to now talk and decide who deserves that extra throw

and an extra shot at being the captain of either Sting or Claw.

-Who is the worst thrower here?

-Jordan. Give it to Jordan.

-OK.

-I don't mind if you want to give it to anybody else.

Shall we have a vote?

Put your hands in the middle to vote for Jordan.

Jordan it is then.

OK, that seemed pretty conclusive.

-Just to confirm, who have you voted for?

Can I ask why you voted for Jordan?

Because Jordan says he can't throw as well and it's his weakness.

So we need to develop on that weakness and give him an extra shot

and I think he'll use it wisely

and if he is the captain, I don't mind, because he is perfect for it.

I want to be captain cos I think I'll be a good one

and I would help everyone as much as I could.

Cos I was the first captain for the boys,

and I want to be the first captain of Sting or Claw,

and I really would like to win and lead my team to victory.

Dylan, why do you want to be captain?

I just want to, you know, start the team off on the right leg.

Jordan, how do you feel? The team have voted you get the fourth throw.

I feel it's a pleasure because I want to be a captain,

to bring peace and harmony to the camp.

OK, Jordan wants to bring peace and harmony to you all. Jordan,

with the fourth throw you might just get that chance. We shall find out.

So, now it's the boys turn and James is up first.

Meanwhile, the rest of the boys will be watching on.

-James, are you ready?

-Ready.

-Feeling confident?

-Um, yeah.

Um, OK. Are you ready?

Three, two, one, off you go.

James' first swing and he's going for the throw. Looks good... Oh!

It didn't break.

And that's bad news for James because only splats count here.

So, although this one hit the target really close to the bull's-eye,

it's a wasted throw. Can he give it more power next time?

-Are you ready?

-Yeah.

-Three, two, one, go.

This looks like a much more confident launch.

-This is a great pace... Oh, dear.

-No!

-It didn't break.

-They're not breaking.

The rest of the boys are sounding worried but this challenge

requires force as well as accuracy and sadly James had neither here,

with his rock not only failing to splat,

but also hitting the board outside the target.

So, if he's going to have any chance of being one of the first

captains of Sting or Claw

he needs to pull something spectacular out of the bag

with his last throw.

-James, are you ready?

-Yeah!

Take your time and hurl that rock.

Three, two, one, go.

-This is another really quick leap. He's going for the throw...

-No!

Well, that means I'm not captain.

The third and final try there from James.

He did hit the board, however, the rock didn't splatter.

I thought it would break straight away but it didn't.

I was really throwing it on the third one and it just didn't break at all.

What's worse, your first two throws didn't splat either,

which really troubled your team-mates.

I can't hit them any harder than James.

James' second throw was off target

and his third hit just on the edge of the target,

but his first was the most unlucky for him

as it was so close to the bull's-eye.

If it had splatted he would be in an extremely strong position here.

As it stands, he knows the captaincy has slipped away.

I would've loved the opportunity

but it doesn't really matter now. It's over and done with.

My friends, I hope, will pick me so I don't really mind.

Right, Zack's up next. Let's see what his tactics are like.

-Zack, are you ready?

-Yeah!

-Three, two, one, go.

-But will it be a good throw?

-BOYS: Ooh.

-Not bad.

So, this was a solid first throw from Zack.

It hit on target and just as importantly, it was a splat.

Now, can he get nearer the bull's-eye?

It's Zack's second attempt.

Let's see if he gives that target a real pelt. OK, Zack, here we go.

Three, two, one, go.

He's running off the edge here, keeping his eyes on the target.

Wow! Another splat.

I threw it that hard and it wouldn't break.

James sounds outraged but it seems Zack must be doing something here

because that's two for two

and this one splatted really close to the bull's-eye.

Can he get even nearer the centre with his last throw?

The third and final attempt here for Zack.

He was the team captain on the very first day

and he certainly wants to be team captain again. Are you ready, Zack?

-Yes!

-Three, two, one, go.

Not such a strong leap this time and it's a slower swing too. No.

The third rock didn't break, however, other two did, which means

Zack is in with a really good chance of being the first captain.

Being captain means so much to me

because if I was the captain I would do it right this time.

Last time, I made a few mistakes when I was captain.

But you didn't make many mistakes here, Zack.

All of your throws hit the target and the first two were proper splats

and remember, James didn't get a single splat.

I'm surprised James didn't get any. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't.

But I'm very surprised, I thought he was stronger.

Well, Zack, that's what you said to camera

but the island is all-seeing and nothing gets past it.

James, I crushed them slightly in my hand

so that when I throw them they'd easily crash.

What will the island have to say about this? We'll find out later.

For now, it's left Zack in pole position to be one of the captains

with his second splat being so close to the bull's-eye.

But, of course,

with three boys left to swing, everything could still change.

Now, Peter said he really wanted to be captain.

Well, to be captain for Sting or Claw

I think would be an amazing opportunity

and would give me the confidence and the power

to believe in myself and hopefully escape and be victorious in the end.

So, let's see if he can make that a reality.

He's up next. Peter, are you ready?

-Ready!

-Feeling confident and focused?

-Yes.

-That's the spirit, good man.

Three, two, one, go.

Strong positive launch here, all ready to throw.

Oh, yes! A great green splat there.

A good start for Peter.

He swung fearlessly and managed to get an on-target splat.

He just needs to get nearer the centre

if he's going to beat Zack. Can he do it?

-OK, Peter, are you ready?

-Ready.

-Three, two, one, go.

Terrific running leap from Peter here and it's another early... Oh!

Woah! Peter proved you have to pelt it pretty powerfully.

And it got him his second splat in a row.

In almost exactly the same spot as his first.

So, it's incredibly consistent work

but he really needs to break out of this pattern with his final throw.

Peter seems so determined here.

He looks like he is willing this last rock to find the bull's-eye.

Can he make it happen?

Three, two, one, go.

Another really great leap. He is swinging sideways.

And ready to drop... Ooohhh!

This was Peter's closest hit yet and his third splat in a row,

so this was a sound performance overall.

But none of his splats were as close to the centre as Zack got.

It means Peter must wave goodbye to his dreams

of being the first leader of Sting or Claw.

-Now time for Dilhan.

-And he's extremely confident.

It doesn't look like the other boys succeeded, you know,

but hopefully I can pull out the big guns.

-Dilhan, are you ready?

-Ready!

Three, two, one, go.

He's really thrown himself into this one.

Oh, dear! This was not the start Dilhan wanted.

He seems to have a strong swing but then managed to entirely misthrow,

sending his rock flying below the board.

He's got two throws left to get his act together.

Right, let's just hope he's learnt from his first attempt.

He has to hit the board this time.

Dilhan. Three,

two, one, go.

He properly got out on the swing this time, looking so good. Yes!

Good stuff. This was a much more controlled throw,

which not only hit the target but was a proper splat too.

With his last swing, can he get nearer the bull's-eye

and put the pressure on Zack?

Third and final for Dilhan, here we go.

Dilhan. Three, two, one, go.

Another full-on launch from Dilhan but it looks like an early... Oh!

Well, Dilhan does manage a second splat on the edge of the target

but it's further from the centre than his second throw

and neither were anywhere near as close to the bull's-eye as Zack's.

It looks like Zack's still in line to be one of the first captains

unless Jordan can pull off something incredible.

Remember, the team decided that Jordan wasn't the strongest thrower,

so they gave him the fourth go. Is he going to prove them all wrong?

-Jordan, are you ready?

-Ready.

-Are you focused?

-Yes.

Three, two, one, go.

A careful first swing and he's going for the throw... Oh!

Yes, James, it did but it only hit the bottom edge of the target.

Of course, Jordan's still got three more throws.

Can he make the most of having an extra turn

and get some real smash hits here?

Jordan seems to be psyching himself up, toying with the rock

and getting ready for a second swing.

Three, two, one, go.

Wow, an athletic launch but he's swinging backwards. Ohh!

Jordan did not make this easy for himself.

A throw from a backwards swing was obviously going to be tough

and so he did well, even to hit the target.

He struck just where Peter had his second rock

but unlike Peter, didn't get a proper splat.

-Come on, Jordan.

-Come on, mate.

So he's got to get a better splat this time.

Hang on, is he trying a similar tactic to Zack's?

He's poking his finger into the rock to ensure the paint comes out.

Am I allowed to do that?

Well, I've done it. Oops.

-Don't think the island hasn't noticed.

-Jordan, focus.

-Are you ready?

-Ready!

Three, two, one, go.

A neater launch this time and he's keeping a straighter line. Yes!

The finger in rock plan combined with a more controlled swing here

to get Jordan an on target splat, even from a relatively weak throw.

So it was good but not a lead-grabbing effort.

Nonetheless, Zack still seems fretful.

I'm feeling nervous, yeah, because I really want to be captain

and I'm the closest so far,

but you never know what Jordan can do till he's done it.

And we are about to find out what he can do with his last rock.

This is now Jordan's fourth and final attempt.

He wants to bring peace and harmony to his team as captain.

Will he be able to do it?

-Jordan, last attempt. Are you ready?

-Ready.

-Good man.

I can't wait to see this one. If he hits the bull's-eye I am doomed.

If he doesn't...

I am definitely not being captain.

Three, two, one, go.

A really full-on launch, swinging smoothly

but this is a really late throw. Oh. Oh!

Jordan doesn't manage a splat but, bizarrely,

does manage to catch his rock on the rebound.

It's impressive but it doesn't earn him any bonus points.

So how was The Divider for the boys?

I was really disappointed with my throws

but when I saw James, when he tried to throw it,

none of them cracked and I found that funny

because I gave my first shot and it cracked straight open.

It would've been quite cool if I'd been captain

but it doesn't really matter.

I think I didn't do it too well,

because Zack got closer to the middle.

-So, well done, boys. Did you enjoy The Divider?

-ALL: Yes.

-Good fun?

-ALL: Yeah.

-How do you think you all did?

-Not good.

-Really?

-I think I did OK.

-You think you did well?

-Yeah, I do.

Is it hard to tell, though?

Yeah. I didn't see what the girls were doing, so I was like "Hmm."

This is true. What did you find the hardest bit of the whole task?

Cracking them open on the board and throwing them so hard.

-I had a bit of a technique.

-What was that?

Don't crush them all the way so it's bleeding out of your hand,

just loosen the rock a bit and then woochaa!

And remember, it's not the first time the island's heard you

talking about this approach.

I crushed them slightly in my hand,

so when I throw them they'd easily crash.

And it saw Jordan putting this into practice.

Am I allowed to do that? I've done it.

This technique naturally gave some of the adventurers

a massive advantage over the others.

But the island needs games to be played on a level playing field,

especially games with as much riding on them as this one.

So in an effort to restore fairness, it has decided

to reassess all of the throws and judge the adventurers on their aim.

Splats now become irrelevant and what counts

is each rock's point of impact.

This doesn't really alter the girls' results.

Natty still reigns triumphant, with Lizzie second and Khadie third,

but it does mean Eleanor, who went entirely splatless,

does knock Jeremy into last place.

However, going from splats to points of impact

has a radical effect on the boys' results.

As it brings James, who, like Eleanor, got no splats whatsoever,

all the way from last place right up into first place.

Leaving Zack, Peter, Jordan and Dilhan trailing behind.

And so, in bringing fairness back the island has caused it to be

James rather than Zack who will captain Sting or Claw opposite Natty

and because her bang on the bull's-eye splat

was the best shot of all,

it's Natty who will take the island treasure - the silver crab.

Great stuff and it just goes to show

there is no hiding from the all-seeing island.

The sun is finally setting

at the end of an extraordinary chapter on Scorpion Island.

For the first time in Scorpion history,

the girls faced the boys.

Team bonds were formed from the battle lines.

ALL: Girls!

And friendships forged like never before.

But now each adventurer knows that everything they've worked towards

is about to be ripped apart.

If I get split up from my mates I think I might miss them

because I've spent so long being friends with them now

and we're all a big happy family now cos we're spent so long.

But then the island's twisted it up

and we've got to make friends with new people

and so I dunno how it's going to work out.

It should work out OK as I'm quite good at making friends,

but I don't know until it actually happens what's going to happen.

At the moment I'm feeling very happy in my team.

We're all are sticking together like a big family.

And it feels just like home.

Everyone is thinking about who they've become close to.

I think I get on best with Natty

because we both have the same experience of adventure,

we both have our little down times,

and I find her quite similar to me so I can really relate to her.

When I have troubles or something

I can really talk to her in a way which I find easy.

We're really good friends and both understand each other very well.

At the moment on Scorpion Island

the person I get on with the most is probably Peter.

He's so calm, he's so funny, and he's always got a smile on his face,

and he's really nice,

and when you're feeling down he's always there to comfort you.

He's a really nice guy.

My best friend on Scorpion Island

would be Eleanor.

She's a really bubbly and excitable person

and she makes everyone laugh

and I tend not to have really best friends

because I want to be friends with everyone.

And just so everyone knows, everyone is my best friend.

We are like one big best friend group.

ALL: Expect the unexpected.

I'm really looking forward to the island fire

to see who will be the captains,

and also to see what else the island has up its sleeve

because you never know what's going to happen.

A full moon rises in the night sky

and finally, it's the moment of truth.
