Today, we're going to be looking at formation.

Does anyone know what formation in football means?

It's where you and your team mates stand on the pitch.

A formation is arranging players on the pitch.

The coach will arrange the players into a formation

they think will help the team play their best.

There are three main things to remember when you're in a formation.

You need to look around you,

think how you can help the team

and move to help them out.

When we're playing a five-a-side game,

there are formations the coach might put us in.

Things like the square, the triangle, the diamond

or even the Y formation.

We always put the goalie in goal so let's put Pickles here.

What's a formation?

It's the shape we make as a team when we move up and down the pitch.

Staying in formation will help us win the ball and score goals.

Aye, so let's go through your positions.

Pickles, you'll be in goal.

Geraldine, you'll be at the bottom of our diamond in defence here.

Rex and Rossie, you'll be here in the middle of our diamond.

Yeah, we're the pointy bits.

And, Benny, you'll be here

trying to score goals at the top of our diamond.

Team-mates must run to the cardboard cut-outs of the Pups

and place them in the hoops.

Only when the formation is correct can the next one be called.
