Right, so, the routine we're going to learn, small footwork routine.

What it goes is a little bit like this.

We go one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one, two,

three, four. Simple as that.

I see this bit, and I think, "I might be able to get that,"

and we're dropping this into it.

This bit, you can remember, cos I do it quite a bit.

-I know that bit, but it's the other bit.

-Just lean into it.

-Drop. So we do it four times.

-OK.

-So we start going this way first, left.

Three, two, one, go. One, two, three, four. All right?

-Audience, want to try this as well?

-AUDIENCE: Yeah!

-Go left first. We're gonna do it four times.

So the bit we've got to learn now is this.

Hello, everyone. Welcome to the Games Download.

I am joined by these two beautiful human beings, Ceal and Georgia.

-You're beautiful too.

-Oh, thanks, Ceal.

And the game that we're doing today is a classic.

It's actually a Sonic the Hedgehog game.

Ceal, if you'd like to get up and start having a go.

-I do love a bit of Sonic. People say I look like him.

-Do they actually?

No.

Now, anyone who's ever played a Sonic game before will

basically know that you have to just navigate Sonic across the screen.

If you keep holding him right, he'll start running,

-and you'll build up some speed.

-Ooooosh!

-Yeah?

So, basically, you just have to navigate him

from left to right of all these different courses, ultimately,

to defeat the bad guy, Dr Eggman,

which is a fantastic name for a bad guy.

This is actually Sonic 4: Episode II,

and you see these bouncy things? Use them.

-Now, get to that one on the left, yeah?

-OK.

-So I have to rebound off the wall?

-And you see the person you're with?

-That's your sidekick. She's called Tails.

-Is Tails a girl?

Yeah, and sometimes you can do special combo moves...

-Oooosh!

-..in order to get through difficult parts of the puzzle.

-I really like this.

-So we're playing this on the Xbox.

What I think is really cool is that this game is actually,

really shortly going to be able to go on to iPads, smartphones and PCs.

The only thing I found when I was playing it,

it's a little bit easy sometimes.

Does the difficulty not increase?

No, it's a general thing. You know what I really want?

-I would love to see a 3D Sonic game rather than the 2D platform.

-Oh!

-Oooh!

-Yes. So, now on to today's gadget, which is Mario Kart K'NEX.

-You guys know the game Mario Kart, right?

-ALL: Yeah!

So what I've got here today is actually sort of a gadgety

inventiony type thing that kind of brings it to life a bit more.

And it consists of sorts of things like this.

You get these little karts, you build them yourself.

I've got Mario, and they're powered by battery, OK?

And then you ride them on this.

-Oh!

-OK, so, as I said, you get these little karts,

and then you also get all these little bits of track.

Now, you can arrange these in any way you want.

You do it yourself. And that's the main fun aspect of it.

You could spend ten minutes making one in your lounge,

or you could spend three hours making one round your entire house.

You can put bridges in, you can put jumps in it.

Do you know what I love about that?

With some, like Scalextric, it can get quite tedious,

having the same track.

The fact you can rearrange it yourself,

-you can make it different...

-I love it!

So what I'm going to do is put Mario on the start line,

and I'm gonna turn him on, and he's gonna go.

-Oh!

-Now, this game's a bit like... cos it is a race,

and sometimes they do flip over or turn around or go the wrong way.

-But that happens in actual Mario Kart.

-Yeah.

-Can I get Donkey Kong?

-Can I be this one?

-Yeah, put it in.

-How do I turn it on?

-Donkey, mate, come on!

-Oh, he's off!

-Come on!

-Yes, carnage, carnage! Oh! You've got to be careful.

that'll be really big this summer.

So we sent out our new presenter Talia to go and learn.

Let's see how she got on.

Hi, I'm Talia, and welcome to Weekend Download.

Now, when I found out I was playing beach volleyball

I got pretty excited.

But then I realised, it's not that kind of beach.

RECORD SCRATCHES

I'm Joe Lambe, I'm 19

and I'm part of the England junior volleyball team.

-My name's Sam.

-I'm Julie.

-We're both 18,

we both play for the junior national team.

I play it mainly cos it gives you a buzz,

just being friendly with your team-mates

and constantly playing. It's a social buzz as well.

-Hey, guys.

-Hi, all right?

-My name's Talia. Where exactly are we today?

We're at the National Volleyball Centre in Kettering

on the beach court, and we're all part of the England junior squad.

Nice. And you're going to be teaching me today, yeah?

Yes, some basic beach volleyball skills.

I've got all my gear on but I've not got any experience. Will that matter?

-No, not at all. We teach beginners all the time.

-So what's first?

-I think we'll have to start you off on the serve.

-Great, let's go.

OK, so here we are on the court.

Normally with serving, we'd be on the backline,

but for beginners we'll bring you forward.

-Right or left-handed?

-Right.

-Right, so I want you to put your left foot forward a bit.

-OK.

Right leg back. A bit to the side. That's it.

And bend your knees a little bit.

Put your fist out, clench it as hard as you can, and you want to be

hitting the ball from the palm a little bit.

-OK.

-So around here, but don't catch your wrist cos that'll hurt.

-All right.

-We're holding the ball out in front of us,

-literally hit it out of your hand, if you want to give that a go.

-OK.

Perfect.

Looks like you've got the underarm serve perfect,

-so we'll move you on to an overarm serve if you want.

-Great, yeah.

Normally we'd hit open-hand,

but we'll start you off on a clenched fist again,

-hitting it in the same place, avoiding the wrist.

-All right.

So we bring the ball out like we did in the first place,

then we bring our arm back like you're an archer,

-and then throw your hand up a little bit and just hit the ball.

-OK.

Perfect. So now that you know how to serve,

-we need to get you receiving one of your serves.

-All right.

So much like the other one, we start with one foot forwards, normally,

and most importantly here is bring your arms together.

When I put my hands together I always use the butterfly technique,

together like that. What you're aiming for here

-is for the ball to hit you there.

-Right.

When the ball's coming into you, you need to bend your knees

-As you're hitting it, bring your knees up.

-OK.

-OK, ready to try some?

-Yeah.

Remember, where your shoulders are facing

-is where you want the ball to go.

-OK.

Ooh, that was a bit high!

-Try and use your legs a bit.

-OK.

Perfect. OK, so now you've got some of the basics,

I'll throw you in at the deep end

-and we'll play against some of my England squad-mates.

-What?

-You'll be fine.

-Er, OK!

Right, OK, so let's get some tactics in here now.

-Remember what I talked about?

-Yeah.

-Perfect. Let's go.

COWBOY MUSIC PLAYS

Anyone can get into it. You can get beach volleyball nets

which are quite easily set up anywhere you want.

-You just need a big space.

-If I'd suggest someone playing,

I would say probably just go down the park,

set up a bit of rope and just knock a ball around, really.

-Doing the basics.

-THEY LAUGH

If you wanted to try out a new sport, volleyball's a great one to learn.

Step one - find yourself a ball and a net.

Balls cost about £10 and a net is under £20.

You could use a badminton net

or even a rope and two poles if you have them.

Set the net to 2.5 metres high and mark out your court using tape

on grass or sand, or chalk on a hard surface,

nine metres out from the net on each side.

You can also use a court at your local leisure centre,

but make sure you wear elbow and knee pads if playing on a hard surface.

Step two - practising.

To serve, stand on the end line marking

and make a fist with your hand, keeping your

fingers flat. Strike underneath the ball with the heel of your hand

and make sure you follow through in the direction want the ball to go.

To return the ball, put two hands together like so,

with your elbows extended, making sure you're in the right position

before the ball arrives. For targets that are closer,

move your hands further away from your body.

Step three - playing a game. Find some friends to play with you.

You can play with up to six per team or as little as two.

You can even practice on your own using a marker to aim at.

The rules are the ball can't touch the ground,

and each team can have three hits before returning it.

You win a point by stopping the other players from returning.

The first to reach 21 points wins.

So, I've learnt a new sport, taken on the England squad

and been to the beach all in one day.

we'll be focusing on sleep fails, so let's have a look.

You know what it's like,

you're out hanging on a skiing holiday with your family,

you're wearing a snazzy helmet,

you're having the best day of your life,

but it's just all so exhausting.

Yeah, he's actually sleeping whilst standing up in his ski boots.

Genius.

There really is SNOW hope for him on those slopes.

It's not just us humans who have a few problems with sleeping.

This canine is having the perfect kip,

but he seems to have forgotten he is asleep.

There he is, fast asleep, dreaming that he's running through the park

chasing a cat.

Go on, you've almost got it, faster!

You're never going to catch it because you're asleep.

Yep, he really is a dozy dog.

Hang on, this kitten is still awake.

Maybe it's not a sleep fail after all.

Wait, look at the eyes. They're going, they're going, gone!

Today, I'm going to show you guys a magic trick,

how to make a coin disappear.

Bear with me. Sometimes I get this wrong.

Basically, what you need is a cup. Could you examine that for me?

Tell me if it is a normal cup.

-That's a normal cup.

-Nice one. Preferably, a see-through cup.

A 20p piece or any other coin.

Could you verify that is a legit 20p piece?

Thank you. You also need a piece of A4 paper.

Basically, what will happen is the coin is going to go on the table

and I will place the plastic glass over it.

If I am making this coin disappear,

I don't want to let you guys in on the magic.

I'll cover it up like this so you can't see it.

Keep a keen eye on that coin.

With a magical gesture...

APPLAUSE

Actually, I did say at the start of the trick

that I was going to make the coin disappear.

I guess I have done the trick a bit wrong, but that is part of the trick.

You are trying to make the glass disappear, as that's more impressive.

Now I'm going to explain how it's done.

What you need is a big box with something soft in it.

I have my favourite dressing gown in here.

That will make it cushy.

You put that behind wherever you're standing.

Everything looks normal and everything is legit

until the point when this is over there.

You need a bit of misdirection.

I'm making everyone look at the coin by asking them to keep

an eye on the coin.

Because I'm looking up, other people will, and they won't be focusing

on this hand, which is basically sliding like this off the end,

and I'm dropping that into the box

of cushy stuff. It will not make a sound.

For this trick, I used a plastic glass.

Just in case it misses the box,

you don't want it breaking all over the floor.

With this in the box, I need to retain

the shape of the glass in my hand, which is easy to do with the paper.

Put it on top and do the magical gesture. Boom!

People should be amazed.

If you like, you can do the whole, "Oh, I did it wrong."

Sometimes it makes it a little bit more impressive.

Get practising that, and hopefully you will be able to impress everyone,
