Then, the trick of this one is, you do the little head move.

We do this first, just keep doing it casually.

Put your feet right out, point to the sky.

Casually chilling.

Right, hello everyone, welcome to the Games Download.

I've got Aidan and Richard with me.

Now the game we're doing today is a bit different than usual.

-Ooh.

-It's a downloadable app for the Xbox 360 and it's called Fez,

and it's not a hat. There's a hat called a fez.

But basically, you're this guy.

You're this little character,

and you have to go round this seemingly 2D world,

and you're a 2D character. And the objective is to collect cubes.

Aidan, if you'd just like to have a go.

You'll see it's very innovative and interesting.

Cos if you press the left trigger buttons...

-Wow.

-You can actually spin the world round.

No way is this happening.

And see that moss on the wall, you can climb on that.

The thing that I'm mainly excited about

in this isn't the actual coolness of the game,

but the idea that this was created in a fairly short period

of time by one guy in his bedroom.

It really baffled me then, cos I looked at it from this angle

-and you can see there's the box there.

-Yeah.

But when you turn from this side, you can just jump straight onto it. That is really cool.

-Stop there a sec.

-Oh, stopping.

Now you can see, for instance... Jump onto there.

And now just pop onto there. A little run-up.

-And now pop onto... OK, don't pop onto there.

-Whoa, whoa.

OK, pop back. But for instance, you can see that

you can jump onto there very easily. Now spin the world.

-Wow!

-Can you see how far away it's gone?

Yeah, that is good, that is really good.

They do that so many times in the game, where the perception changes.

-It's very clever how they done that.

-And you can...

-You're getting a bit more into this, Aidan.

-I'm intrigued.

You seemed hesitant but now...Oh.

That'll do. You get the point. That is Fez.

It reminds me a bit like Mario, sort of thing, but more cubey.

Just getting far into it is a bit baffling, but after a while you do get into it.

You would've done better than me.

And now it's time for today's gadget.

Now, it's actually got a mic strapped to the bottom of it, with a bit of tape round it.

So it doesn't look exactly like this.

Just imagine it like this, but without the mic on it.

to go and learn how to drive go-karts.

Hey guys, I'm Danny, and this week I'm on the case for Weekend Download.

And today, I'm in Hampshire to put my driving skills to the test.

I'm Ronan Mackenzie and I'm 13,

and I'm a three-time National Karting Champion.

I've been karting for six years now.

I first got into it when my dad bought me

an old kart for my eighth birthday.

It's just the power and just the whole kart...

it's something out of the world, really.

My dream is to get to Formula 1, and I'd do anything to get there.

-Hiya, Ronan, nice to meet you. I'm Danny.

-You all right?

So, I've heard you're a bit of a Go-Karting champion.

-How long have you been doing it?

-About six years.

-Cool.

I've got a favour to ask you. I've got a mate's birthday party coming up

and it's Go-Karting. To be honest, I'm quite bad and I need to win him,

-cos he's won me at everything else.

-OK.

-D'you reckon we can do it?

-Of course we can.

-What do I need to do first?

Well, we can get you kitted up and then get in the car.

-Let's do this thing.

-All right.

Right, so I've got my overalls on. This looks pretty complicated.

Yeah, erm, that's your brake and that's your accelerator.

Only press one at a time, so don't press both of them.

-D'you want to get in?

-Yes, can do. Oh! It's tight, isn't it?

-Yeah.

So you want to hold your steering wheel at nine-to-three, like that.

-Nine-to-three, so like the clock, then.

-Yeah.

Going in a straight line, you want to press the accelerator slowly,

but all the way to the full.

-So slowly, not just hammering it down.

-Yeah.

Keep the steering wheel as straight as possible,

otherwise it'll scrub speed off.

-So, if I keep it straight, then it goes faster.

-Yes.

-Coming into a corner, you brake nice and firmly as well.

-Brake firmly.

-So, d'you want to put your helmet on and let's go.

-OK.

-All right? How was that?

-Think I've got the hang of that, yeah.

That's pretty cool. So, what's the next bit?

It's very important to know how to take a corner.

Coming to a left-hand corner,

you want to be on the right side of the track.

-Quite far right, or...?

-As wide as can be.

-As wide as can be, OK.

Into a right-hand corner, you want to be on the left,

then as you're coming into the corner, you want to be

braking firmly in a straight line.

Why can't we do it when we're turning?

-It could just spin you out.

-That's a definite no, then.

We'll cross that one off the list.

-All right.

-And what happens next?

-Once you've braked, you turn in smoothly.

-Right, OK.

Aiming towards the inside of the corner,

then accelerate through the corner.

Right, so far we've got coming out wide,

braking going in and then accelerating out.

Coming on the exit, you want to run wide, so use the width

of the track on the exit.

Sounds simple enough. Now for the fun bit. How do I overtake someone?

-You want to be quite close to the person in front of you.

-Right.

Once there, you want to aim your car to the inside of that person,

and into the corner, then brake hard,

but make sure you don't stop.

OK, so we can't stop.

And then, once you are alongside,

just stick on the racing line in the inside and then you should be past.

-Whoa! Right, we'll give that a go then, shall we?

-All right, then.

Right. Well, I'm feeling pretty confident.

Taking the corners a bit better.

Yeah, I think I've got what it takes now.

-So, I've got a challenge for you.

-Right.

-It's a race.

-OK.

-But I get a one-lap head start.

-You've got yourself a deal.

Let's do this.

If you wanted to have a go at karting,

it's not as expensive as you might think.

Get yourself down to your nearest centre

for as little as £10 a session.

Tip One, watch other drivers going round the track first.

Look out for the lines they take on corners.

The smallest change in position can make all the difference.

Tip Two, grip the steering wheel at a nine-and-three position, like so.

Do your accelerating and braking when on a straight bit of track.

It stops the kart from moving sideways or spinning out.

Approach a left-hand corner on the right

and a right-hand corner on the left,

braking first and accelerating through the bend.

To overtake, you'll need to get close to a kart in front

and wait for a corner, then take the inside line and accelerate past them.

Simple...with practice. Tip Three, safety.

Never go out unsupervised.

Check with your local track for their age limits.

Some take kids as young as five, so anybody can have a go.

Well, I didn't win, but then again, he is a national champion.

Plus side is, don't need to call Mum for a lift home,

and really I don't know what to expect.

I'm a LITTLE bit nervous.

Now, sports day is a pretty big deal so I'm here to make sure that

Jasmine is prepared for her first one.

-So I'm here to help you with your sports day. Can I come in?

So what you nervous about?

Well, everyone's expecting me to do well

and everyone in my house is depending on me to, like, win for them,

cos if you win this race you get a shield.

And that's kind of putting loads of pressure on me.

Tell me, what events are you doing?

Well, I'm doing the running and the relay.

-So you must like running.

-When I'm running it's really good cos it flexes your bones.

When I was younger I used to be in a stage show in London

and I used to play a young Michael Jackson,

and what I used to do is I used to imagine there was no one there

and I was just performing for myself.

Another thing I used to do was listen to my favourite song,

so what's your favourite song?

So, guys, you should all be warmed up now.

So now some tips on sports day.

First up, welly-wanging. Who likes welly-wanging?

You all know the rules, pick it up and throw it as far as you can.

That was really good, guys, but now for some tips.

If you hold it like this,

heel up and make sure your arm is completely straight and as you throw

flick your wrist and that'll make you throw it much further.

Next, the egg and spoon race. Who likes egg and spoon races?

-ALL: ME!

-Cool, let's go.

So, guys, you're supposed to get your egg from one side of the line

to the other without dropping it, but everyone usually does pretty bad,

so I'm going to give you some tips to help out.

You need one egg and one spoon.

Instead of putting the egg on like this,

you need to tilt your spoon forward.

The wind blows it and makes sure it stays on.

From there you need to bring your hand closer to your body,

then it shouldn't fall off as easily.

So now, to put all you've learnt to the test,

we're going to have a race, are you excited?

ALL: Yeah!

Here are your spoons. Take one.

Right, let's go!

Preparing for your sports day can be a pretty big deal,

but just remember it's all about taking part,

whether you're racing or just cheering on your friends.

Just imagine yourself winning the race before hand,

this should help take away the nerves.

Tip 1 - before the day.

Tip 2 - Sports day secrets.

The three-legged race is always a tricky one to do well at.

Do this and make sure your outside legs move in time with each other's

and you'll be fine.

Tip 3 - cheering on your mates.

Sports day's all about taking part,

whether you're racing or supporting from the side.

They're really simple to make.

All you need is a piece of large card and disposable drinking cup.

Make a hole in the end of the cup and slide the tube through like so.

Your voice is instantly heard over everyone else's.

Plus, if you're competing, use the cheers to your advantage.
