Shall we squiggle some things that start with the letter N?

A newt...

a nose...

and a notebook.

They all begin with the letter N.

See if you can spot them in our story.

Once, there was a little... newt...

Hello!

..who was having tea with her daddy.

-Will you help me lay the table, Little Newt?

-Yes, Daddy.

The little newt was being very good,

so Daddy had made her a lovely chocolate cake.

It looks yummy!

Eat up your fly sandwiches and then you can have a slice.

Little Newt didn't want to eat her fly sandwiches.

She wanted to eat a big piece of chocolate cake.

So, when Daddy's back was turned,

Little Newt did something very naughty.

She gobbled up the cake in one bite.

Daddy saw the cake had gone.

Little Newt, did you eat the chocolate cake?

And Little Newt did something even naughtier.

She told a fib.

No, Daddy. A huge cake-gobbling dragonfly swooped in

and ate it in one go.

And as she told the fib

her nose grew longer...

I tried to wrestle the cake off him...

..and longer...

..but he escaped.

..and longer

until her nose was as long as her tail!

Daddy looked at Little Newt's enormous nose.

What a shame you haven't been truthful with me today, Little Newt.

He gave Little Newt a mirror so she could see her enormous nose.

I'm sorry I told a fib.

And with that, her enormous nose disappeared.

Good girl, Little Newt. I've got you a present for telling the truth.

It was a...notebook.

You can write down all your wonderful tales in here.

Instead of telling fibs, you can tell stories!

And so the Little Newt scribbled in her notebook

and told Daddy the story of the naughty newt

and her enormous nose.
