Those huge pictures drawn in the ground

are the Nazca Lines in Peru.

They're so big that the best way to see them is from the sky.

Pictures like these are called geoglyphs

and were made by a local people removing the red stones

and sand of the desert to show the

lighter coloured sand beneath.

There's hardly any wind or rain in the Nazca Desert.

So the geoglyphs haven't been covered over or washed away.

They can still be seen after hundreds of years.
