but in the Green Balloon Club we're keeping warm by doing exercise.

-Or how quickly some animals can climb?

-Or how gracefully they dive?

Or how brilliantly some can swim?

We're all going to try and get fit and keep up with them.

First, we'll fly over to some Green Balloon Club members in Cardiff.

-They've found some champion jumpers.

-Is it a kangaroo?

-Is it rabbits?

-No, not rabbits.

-How about fleas? They can jump high.

-No, not fleas.

-Tell us, please!

No need. I can see someone - look, down there by the river.

Perhaps they've found a frog. Frogs can jump really high.

ALL: Hello!

We've come to the park today.

Something special is here. Follow us.

If you watch the river carefully, you will see something amazing.

ALL: Look! Look! There!

Did you see that?

That big fish is called a salmon.

Did you see how it jumped?

In the autumn, salmon make really long journeys.

They swim all the way from the sea back up the river,

where they were born, to lay their eggs.

-There!

Look how high they are jumping.

It must be so hard to jump a waterfall. Look at them.

He's catching his breath. He's got a friend!

Come on, salmon! You can do it!

I think he's made it - hooray!

ALL: Bye!

I never knew fish could jump.

I know. It's amazing, isn't it, Lily-Rose?

I love how they're so determined to get back up the river.

That was such a brilliant spot, I'm drawing salmon for the scrap book.

Sky was right - they ARE champion jumpers.

-Where's Cat gone?

-We've landed for her to pick up a special visitor.

-Is it a champion jumper?

-No, this one's rather speedy.

Perhaps it's a cheetah. They're the fastest animals, I think.

Yes, Lily-Rose, but they don't live in this country.

What's the fastest animal in the UK?

Skipper's quite fast, aren't you?

Perhaps it's rabbits. Skipper sometimes chases rabbits

and they still escape from her.

Maybe it's a bird. Some birds fly really fast.

Perhaps it's a fish that swims really fast.

I wish I could swim really fast. I'm only just learning.

I can run really fast.

Then maybe you're the fastest animal in the UK!

Did you know that the brown hare is the fastest land mammal in Britain?

Their top speed is 45 miles per hour.

That's how hares avoid their enemies - by outrunning them

with their long, powerful back legs.

The fastest animal on the planet is the peregrine falcon.

Whilst swooping to catch their prey, they can reach speeds of 200 mph.

I was right! It WAS a bird!

Peregrine falcons are such wonderful fliers, and great sky-divers too.

Look out, everyone. Our special visitor's coming.

I'd best hold onto Skipper.

Perhaps it's a rabbit. I do hope so. I love rabbits.

Aw, she's sweet!

I love the way she walks.

Good girl. Let's sit you down here.

Cat, what is she? I've never seen anything like her before.

-She's a ferret.

-A ferret? How fascinating!

She looks a bit scary to me.

-Are ferrets wild animals?

-They're descended from wild animals

-but they're kept as pets too.

-Does she bite?

She sometimes licks the salt on your hand.

She has sharp teeth but she's not vicious.

-Ferrets are descended from wild animals? Which ones?

-Polecats.

Polecats are in the same family as stoats and weasels.

-And otters and badgers.

-Badgers?!

She doesn't look like a badger but she looks quite like a stoat.

-Can I stroke her, Cat?

-Do it sideways,

-because if you go like that, it scares her.

-Why is Georgina trembling?

-Ferrets tremble when they're excited.

-Is Georgina excited?

-Yes.

I thought she would have been bigger than this.

Male ferrets are bigger than female ferrets

and Georgina is a female ferret.

-What are female ferrets called?

-They're called gills.

-Does that mean males are called Jacks?

-No, they're called hobs.

-So what would baby ferrets be called?

-They're called kits.

A bit like kittens.

-Do they all come in the same colour as Georgina?

-No,

-some ferrets are gold.

-Some of them are gold?

-Yep.

Excuse me, Georgina, but you're a bit smelly.

All ferrets smell like that because it's their natural smell.

What do ferrets eat?

They like meaty dog and cat food. Her favourite food is raw egg.

Raw egg?!

Hey, well, I've got an egg here.

-Shall we feed it to Georgina?

-Yeah!

Oh, look! She likes the egg yolk.

She's gone for it first.

She looks really hungry.

-Would you eat a raw egg?

-BOTH: No!

She's gone for the yolk first.

Look at her little tongue.

She's even closed her eyes a little bit.

I love her so much!

She's really enjoying it.

Hey, this is rather cool.

One of our Green Balloon Club members has sent in a poem.

Two legs or four legs, which is best? Most have four but two have the rest

Some creatures have four legs, like dogs, lizards and cats

Others have just two, like humans, birds and bats

The cheetah is the fastest and he has four

But bugs aren't quick and most of them have more!

Now I know someone who would never be late

For she is the spider and she has eight

The giraffe's four legs are long and tall

And the Ant's six legs are very, very small.

But I think my legs are better than them all!

That's an interesting thought, Skipper.

Whose legs could run faster? A ferret or mine?

I mean, my legs are this long and a ferret's are about this long.

-Ferrets love racing down them.

With their long bodies, they'll shoot straight down these tubes.

This week, we're spotting ivy.

Let's get spotting!

Ivy is evergreen

which means that it keeps its leaves all year round.

Look at the ivy!

The leaves are dark green and shiny. They are tough

so they can survive the winter.

Ivy can be poisonous, so you mustn't touch it.

Look! I can see ivy everywhere!

Look for it creeping on the ground

and growing up trees trunks.

At this time of year, the greenish-white or yellow flowers

appear as a cluster.

So, to spot ivy, remember these clues.

Look for the shiny green leaves.

Look for it crawling along the ground

and creeping up the sides of trees.

And look for the greenish-white and yellow flowers.
