0:02:310:02:33

Hurray!

0:02:330:02:36

Well done, everyone - that was fantastic.

0:02:360:02:39

Shall we do the Green Balloon Club chant? Yeah

0:02:390:02:43

DRUM BEAT

0:02:430:02:46

THEY CHANT: We love animals, plants and birds

0:02:460:02:50

We love snails and slugs

0:02:500:02:53

Large and small, we love them all

0:02:530:02:55

And we never ever step on bugs

0:02:550:02:58

Cos we are the Green Balloon Club!

0:02:580:03:02

Sky, won't we be able to get a Christmas tree?

0:03:020:03:06

Oh, I think perhaps we could. Can we get a really, really big one?

0:03:060:03:10

I don't think there's much room in here for a really, really big one.

0:03:100:03:15

Can we have a really tiny baby one? Um, that might be better.

0:03:150:03:19

Or one just middle-sized, the same size as me!

0:03:190:03:23

That's perfect.

0:03:230:03:25

I spy some Green Balloon Club members.

0:03:250:03:28

It's Josh, Oscar, Henry and Ben.

0:03:280:03:30

Hello! Hello.

0:03:300:03:34

We're at our grandma's house today for a very special treat.

0:03:350:03:39

A visit to Grandma's allotment.

0:03:390:03:42

Yeah, to pick winter vegetables to make lovely soup.

0:03:420:03:45

Come on! Let's go!

0:03:450:03:47

'This is the allotment.'

0:03:500:03:52

Look at all these vegetables.

0:03:520:03:56

Come on, boys, come and help.

0:03:560:03:59

Do you know what vegetables these are?

0:04:020:04:05

They're leeks. That's right.

0:04:050:04:07

'It's easy to grow your own vegetables

0:04:070:04:10

'and you can do it all year round.

0:04:100:04:13

'They just need a little weeding and watering.

0:04:130:04:17

'Our grandma is helping us pick some vegetables for our winter soup.'

0:04:170:04:23

I dig.

0:04:270:04:28

'This is celery.

0:04:280:04:30

'Celery takes a long time to grow

0:04:300:04:33

'but it's really worth the wait

0:04:330:04:36

'cos it's so good for you.'

0:04:360:04:37

Now we have leeks and celery.

0:04:370:04:40

Now time for the spinach.

0:04:400:04:42

'Spinach is a leafy vegetable.

0:04:420:04:45

'It grows above the ground.'

0:04:450:04:49

We've just found a slug on this spinach leaf. Take it off, Josh

0:04:490:04:54

We're picking the spinach.

0:04:540:04:57

'Spinach has got loads of iron in it,

0:04:570:05:01

'what will make us big and strong.

0:05:010:05:05

'This spinach is gonna go in our soup.'

0:05:050:05:09

Now we have leeks, celery and spinach.

0:05:090:05:13

Now it's time to go and pick some cabbage.

0:05:130:05:16

Cabbage comes in all shapes, colours and sizes.

0:05:160:05:20

The leaves are crinkly and green.

0:05:200:05:23

There's a red cabbage.

0:05:230:05:25

It will be tasty in our soup.

0:05:250:05:28

There we are, Ben, do you want to put that one in

0:05:280:05:31

Now we've got all our vegetables, we can go inside and make our soup.

0:05:310:05:35

Come on!

0:05:350:05:37

We can eat our tasty soup now.

0:05:400:05:43

Mmm... yummy.

0:05:450:05:47

'It is warming our tummies in the cold.'

0:05:470:05:51

Thank you for visiting us today

0:05:510:05:53

and good luck growing your own vegetables. Bye!

0:05:530:05:59

Bye!

0:05:590:06:00

Our scrapbook's coming on really well.

0:06:000:06:04

Let's have a look at some things in it.

0:06:040:06:06

That's the picture I drew of Skipper.

0:06:060:06:09

And that's when Lily-Rose spotted the dandelion clock.

0:06:090:06:13

She's even stuck some dandelion seeds in.

0:06:130:06:16

It's you, Ant!

0:06:160:06:19

That's when we got the postcard from Jelly.

0:06:220:06:25

And there's Lily-Rose's nasturtiums! And a leaf.

0:06:250:06:29

I love the seaside.

0:06:300:06:32

Yes, that was fun, wasn't it? Yes.

0:06:320:06:35

Look, I got a green star for spotting some bees.

0:06:350:06:39

That was when we were pirates and we did a treasure hunt. Yes.

0:06:410:06:46

That's when Skipper found the badger print.

0:06:470:06:51

Yeah.

0:06:510:06:53

And that's when me and you made the autumn owl. Yeah.

0:06:530:06:57

There's Georgina the ferret. I loved that ferret.

0:06:570:07:00

She was a bit smelly. That was her natural smell. I still loved her.

0:07:000:07:05

Ever heard of a pine marten? No. Do they live in pine trees?

0:07:050:07:10

I think so. Well, at least they live in the forest. What are they like?

0:07:100:07:15

They're like ferrets but they're wild animals and they're cute.

0:07:150:07:20

One of the hardest animals to spot in Britain has a little pointy face,

0:07:210:07:26

a long slim body and a long, bushy tail.

0:07:260:07:29

It's a very rare creature

0:07:310:07:33

and it's found in the far north of Britain in the Scottish Highlands.

0:07:330:07:39

I'm a pine marten,

0:07:390:07:41

one of the most secretive animals you're ever likely to glimpse.

0:07:410:07:45

I'm an excellent climber and move just as fast

0:07:450:07:48

in the treetops as on the forest floor.

0:07:480:07:51

If you catch a glimpse of me, you'll have to be quick

0:07:510:07:55

since I move very quickly as I vanish into the forest.

0:07:550:07:59

Look, there's another animal only found in the Scottish Highlands.

0:08:010:08:06

It's a wild cat.

0:08:060:08:08

But, look out, here comes trouble!

0:08:090:08:11

It's a golden eagle.

0:08:110:08:13

Eagles fly high in the sky looking for animals, just like me,

0:08:130:08:17

to swoop down and catch.

0:08:170:08:21

Phew! That was a lucky escape.

0:08:280:08:31

He nearly had me for his dinner

0:08:310:08:34

Talking of dinner, I better look for some food for myself.

0:08:340:08:38

I hunt small birds and creatures like mice, rabbits and squirrels.

0:08:420:08:48

But I'm also fond of beetles and maybe the odd berry or two.

0:08:480:08:52

So, if you ever get the chance to walk in the Highlands of Scotland,

0:08:530:08:58

don't forget to look out for a pine marten like me

0:08:580:09:01

and all the other creatures that live in these beautiful forests

0:09:010:09:06

Bye for now!

0:09:060:09:08

What a dear, little creature that pine marten is.

0:09:160:09:20

I'm sure you'd like to meet him too, Skipper, but they're difficult

0:09:200:09:25

to find because they're secretive and they live in the wild.

0:09:250:09:30

We have a pine marten and a badger on our website.

0:09:300:09:33

It could be this week's secret picture password.

0:09:330:09:36

Now, which one shall we choose

0:09:360:09:38

Shall we choose the pine marten or the badger?

0:09:380:09:43

The badger?! Why do you think that, Skipper

0:09:430:09:47

OK, let's try that.

0:09:470:09:50

Oh, it IS the badger!

0:09:500:09:53

How did you know that, Skipper?

0:09:530:09:55

Was that a lucky guess? I wonder.

0:09:550:09:59

OK, so the badger IS this week's secret picture password.

0:09:590:10:04

What's all this for, Jay?

0:10:040:10:06

I thought we could make our own Christmas trees.

0:10:060:10:09

Yes, that's a brilliant idea, but how do we do it?

0:10:090:10:13

We're gonna make them with these fir cones.

0:10:130:10:16

First of all we have to glue the spines on them.

0:10:160:10:19

So... if we get our paint brushes

0:10:190:10:22

and get some glue...

0:10:220:10:24

Try and hold it at the bottom so you don't get sticky.

0:10:260:10:30

We don't need to paint the bottom. OK, Jay.

0:10:300:10:33

It looks a bit like snow, doesn't it? Yes!

0:10:350:10:39

Now for the fun bit.

0:10:400:10:42

Grab a bag of glitter.

0:10:420:10:43

Please can I have green? Yes.

0:10:430:10:46

Thank you.

0:10:460:10:49

Now what we've got to do is open our bags of glitter,

0:10:490:10:53

put in our fir cones,

0:10:530:10:56

close the bags of glitter.

0:10:560:10:59

And make sure they're closed.

0:10:590:11:01

Now for the fun bit.

0:11:010:11:03

We have to shake it.

0:11:030:11:04

The messy part!

0:11:070:11:09

Now we've got our Christmas trees.

0:11:160:11:19

It's beautiful! Wow!

0:11:190:11:22

I thought we could use this cotton wool for snow.

0:11:220:11:25

You've got a bit too much on there.

0:11:290:11:32

Yes.

0:11:320:11:33

Take the bottom...

0:11:330:11:35

..then we stick it onto the cotton wool.

0:11:400:11:44

There. Right...

0:11:460:11:49

now we've got to decorate our trees.

0:11:490:11:51

We could use these red sequins as little baubles.

0:11:510:11:55

Yes, that's a good idea, Jay.

0:11:550:11:57

They look like little apples. Yes...

0:12:000:12:03

Now what we've got to do is stick a star on the top.

0:12:070:12:10

I think I'll have a gold one.

0:12:100:12:12

We've got to glue a little bit of the back of the star.

0:12:120:12:17

There, I think I've finished.

0:12:220:12:24

How are you two doing? I'm done.

0:12:240:12:27

Me too.

0:12:270:12:29

They could be for tiny, weeny fairies or tiny, weeny mice.

0:12:290:12:33

Yes. What's Skipper up to Cat?

0:12:330:12:36

She may have a job for the Ground Crew.

0:12:360:12:39

I like your Christmas trees. ALL: Thanks.

0:12:390:12:43

It's a mission. Which token would you like?

0:12:440:12:47

The bird, the beetle or the paw print? The paw print, OK?

0:12:470:12:52

Then it must be about an animal then.

0:12:520:12:55

Now the nights are dark early, which creature comes out

0:12:550:12:59

that's big and furry?

0:12:590:13:00

DING-A-LING!

0:13:130:13:15

It looks like we've got our mission, Ground Crew.

0:13:170:13:20

What's the picture of?

0:13:200:13:23

A paw print. What does the mission say?

0:13:230:13:26

Now the nights are dark

0:13:260:13:28

early, what creature comes out that is big and furry?

0:13:280:13:33

Wow, so we've got to find

0:13:330:13:35

a big and furry creature. How does that sound?

0:13:350:13:38

ALL: Brilliant!

0:13:380:13:40

We'll see if we can find any

0:13:400:13:42

signs of this creature and work out what it is.

0:13:420:13:46

Shall we have a look? Yeah.

0:13:460:13:48

What kind of things might we look for? What do you think, Jayden

0:13:540:13:59

Footprints. That's good.

0:13:590:14:01

What do you think, Eleanor? Things they eat. And Jennifer?

0:14:010:14:05

Where they live.

0:14:050:14:07

Why don't we split up? What do you think?

0:14:070:14:10

Yeah. Let's go, then. Go!

0:14:100:14:12

Chris, look at this. Wow, what have you found, Jayden?

0:14:160:14:20

Footprints, Chris. What do you think might have made these?

0:14:200:14:24

I don't think they're a cat's, or a dog's.

0:14:240:14:28

I'm not sure, Chris.

0:14:280:14:29

Shall we keep looking for signs? Let's go.

0:14:290:14:32

Nature Chris, look what I've found. What have you got then, Eleanor

0:14:350:14:40

Something's been eating this.

0:14:400:14:42

Something's been munching on that sweetcorn.

0:14:420:14:46

It likes to eat this, doesn't it? Yeah.

0:14:460:14:49

So what do you think is doing that? I don't know.

0:14:490:14:53

Shall we look for some more signs? Yeah. Let's go.

0:14:530:14:57

What have you found, Jennifer?

0:14:570:14:59

Poo. Poo. It looks like animal poo, doesn't it?

0:14:590:15:02

You can see some sweetcorn in there.

0:15:020:15:05

We found sweetcorn there, so I think this is the same animal.

0:15:050:15:09

That's the path the animal uses

0:15:090:15:11

Shall we go and have a look? Let's follow the path.

0:15:110:15:15

Our path ends here and the guys are already here.

0:15:180:15:21

What have you found, guys? A big, round hole.

0:15:210:15:25

This is the home of an animal, isn't it? Yeah.

0:15:250:15:29

What animal do you think we're looking for? A badger.

0:15:290:15:33

It's a badger. Badgers live underground

0:15:330:15:36

in a sett. And they're all asleep underneath us.

0:15:360:15:39

We have to be quiet and tread very carefully.

0:15:390:15:43

It's getting dark, we should go into the hide

0:15:430:15:46

and see if we can see some badgers.

0:15:460:15:48

What we'll do is put some of these peanuts out cos

0:15:480:15:52

badgers love peanuts.

0:15:520:15:54

Hopefully they'll come out and eat these.

0:15:540:15:57

Yeah. There we go.

0:15:570:15:59

Let's go, then.

0:15:590:16:01

We're in the hide now. We've put all those peanuts out

0:16:070:16:11

there cos badgers have got a good sense of smell.

0:16:110:16:15

So let's be quiet and watch.

0:16:150:16:17

I feel really excited, Chris.

0:16:220:16:24

I wonder why they're not coming out?

0:16:240:16:27

Maybe they can smell us.

0:16:270:16:29

We've waited and waited, and still no badgers, I'm afraid.

0:16:290:16:35

Our crew have filmed some badgers especially for you.

0:16:350:16:39

Have a look at this.

0:16:390:16:41

Look at the badger peaking out from behind the tree.

0:16:420:16:45

Badgers have a very good sense of smell.

0:16:450:16:49

Look at its nose sniffing around in the air.

0:16:490:16:53

They've found the peanuts

0:16:540:16:56

and they're all tucking in.

0:16:560:16:58

Oh, they've all run back into their holes. Isn't that fantastic?

0:16:580:17:04

Aren't badgers amazing?

0:17:040:17:06

You guys did guess that it's badgers we're after so that means it's. .

0:17:060:17:11

..mission complete!

0:17:110:17:13

And it's back to you in the Green Balloon. Bye...

Sky, do you like my tiny, baby Christmas tree?

0:18:230:18:27

Oh, Lily-Rose, it's beautiful.

0:18:270:18:30

I'm going to make some for my friends. That's a lovely idea.

0:18:300:18:34

Are we going to get a real, proper one?

0:18:340:18:37

I'll try and get one for next week.

0:18:370:18:40

Yay! And I'll make lots of decorations for it

0:18:400:18:45

Yay! I bet Skipper will love it

0:18:450:18:48

I spy some Green Balloon Club members.

0:18:490:18:52

It's time for the Spot of the Week.

0:18:520:18:55

I wonder if it's a Christmassy Spot.

0:18:550:18:57

Hello...

0:18:570:19:00

This week we're spotting a holly tree.

0:19:000:19:03

Let's get spotting!

0:19:030:19:05

The holly tree has prickly leaves and bright red berries.

0:19:050:19:11

Be careful of the prickly leaves, they could hurt your hands.

0:19:110:19:16

Birds love to eat the red berries,

0:19:160:19:19

but they're very poisonous, so we mustn't eat them.

0:19:190:19:23

The red berries come out in October and stay there until the spring.

0:19:230:19:29

At Christmas time there's lots of holly about.

0:19:290:19:33

The holly tree is really strong

0:19:330:19:36

It can live on its own or in a wood.

0:19:360:19:39

So to spot holly trees, remember these clues.

0:19:390:19:43

The green prickly leaves...

0:19:430:19:46

The bright red berries...

0:19:460:19:48

You can find them living on their own or in a wood.

0:19:480:19:53

Why don't you spot a holly tree? Bye... Bye!

0:19:530:19:57

Holly makes a lovely decoration but it's a bit prickly.

0:19:580:20:03

It's also a very important food for the birds.

0:20:030:20:06

They need the berries.

0:20:060:20:08

I think it's best to leave the holly on the tree.

0:20:080:20:11

So do I.

0:20:110:20:13

Jay, Sky's going to get us a Christmas tree next week.

0:20:130:20:17

Can we make lots of decorations? We've got no time

0:20:170:20:20

for any making now cos we're coming in to land.

0:20:200:20:24

And whenever we land... it's time for a song.

0:20:290:20:35

# Grown-ups and children, babies and pets

0:20:450:20:50

# The more people join us, the happier it gets

0:20:500:20:53

# They call it Christmas

0:20:530:20:56

# But let's just call it fun

0:20:560:20:59

# We all get together so make sure we get on

0:21:010:21:08

# You don't need the reindeer

0:21:110:21:14

# You don't need the snow Be kind to one another

0:21:140:21:18

# That's all you need to know to enjoy Christmas

0:21:180:21:21

# Every single day

0:21:210:21:25

# It's such a good, good feeling

0:21:280:21:31

# Don't let it fade away Don't let it fade away!

0:21:310:21:37

# Some of us are green

0:21:380:21:40

# Some of us are blue

0:21:400:21:42

# Everyone's a colour and every colour's cool

0:21:420:21:46

# No need to know the language

0:21:460:21:48

# No need to know the words

0:21:480:21:51

# We all sing together and you will still be heard...

0:21:510:21:58

# You may sing a carol You might say a prayer

0:21:580:22:02

# Christmas is a feeling, anytime and anywhere

0:22:020:22:06

# Not just at Christmas

0:22:060:22:08

# Christmases are fine

0:22:080:22:12

# Whatever you're doing at Christmas is better all the time

0:22:150:22:20

# Brothers and sisters, family and friends

0:22:230:22:27

# Be good to one another and Christmas never ends

0:22:270:22:32

# You're not just being better

0:22:320:22:34

# Cos Christmas time is here Whatever's good at Christmas

0:22:340:22:38

# Is good throughout the year

0:22:380:22:43

# You may sing a carol

0:22:430:22:45

# You might say a prayer

0:22:450:22:47

# Christmas is a feeling Anytime and anywhere

0:22:470:22:51

# Not just at Christmas Christmases are fine... #

0:22:510:22:57

It's good throughout the year, isn't it? Yes.

0:22:570:23:00

# Whatever's good at Christmas Is better all the time

0:23:000:23:06

# Yeah, good Bill, good Bill

0:23:060:23:09

# Yes, whatever's good at Christmas

0:23:090:23:12

# Is better all the time. #

0:23:120:23:15

Are we going to carry on having fun? Jelly, get on down.

0:23:150:23:19

# La la la la la la la la la... # Go, Jelly!

0:23:190:23:22

# La la la la la la la La la la la la la la

0:23:220:23:26

# Oh, yes it's Christmas. # Do you like my dancing? Yeah.

0:23:260:23:30

It's all about having fun...

0:23:330:23:36

See if you can spot some holly

0:23:380:23:40

Leave it on the trees for the birds. Maybe make pine Christmas trees

0:23:400:23:46

Maybe you could get a real Christmas tree, like Sky's going to get us.

0:23:460:23:50

See you next week. ALL: Bye!
