0:01:010:01:07

Ah, there you are.

0:01:140:01:15

It's a bit autumny out today.

0:01:150:01:18

Look at the way the leaves change colours.

0:01:180:01:21

Autumn's great for the birds, I'll tell you why in a minute.

0:01:210:01:25

It's time for the Green Balloon Club chant,

0:01:250:01:28

and I'm joined by Club member Betty.

0:01:280:01:31

Stamp clap, stamp stamp, clap.

0:01:310:01:34

We love animals, plants and birds,

0:01:340:01:36

we love snails and slugs. Large and small,

0:01:360:01:40

we love them all and we never ever step on bugs.

0:01:400:01:44

Cos we are the Green Balloon Club.

0:01:440:01:49

Great. I've got the computer with me so we can see

0:01:490:01:53

what the other Green Balloon Club members are doing.

0:01:530:01:56

Let's check if we've got any messages.

0:01:560:02:01

Yes, loads. And I think this one's from Ant. Hi, Ant.

0:02:010:02:05

What wildlife are you seeing today?

0:02:050:02:09

Hi, I'm Ant and I'm looking for creatures that make you squirm.

0:02:090:02:14

I'm going on a bug hunt. Do you want to come with me?

0:02:250:02:29

Hi, today my bug hunt's going to be a bit unusual

0:02:340:02:38

because today I'm looking at reptiles.

0:02:380:02:41

These are leopard geckos and this is Chrissy.

0:02:410:02:44

-Hello.

-She's going to show me how to hold them.

0:02:440:02:48

Try and pick one up, they're a little bit wiggly.

0:02:480:02:52

Their skin does look like leopards.

0:02:520:02:54

They do. They're quite spotted, very well camouflaged.

0:02:540:02:59

It must be very good at being camouflaged.

0:02:590:03:02

It's like the same colour as sand in the desert.

0:03:020:03:05

-That's right, yes.

-So what do they eat?

0:03:050:03:08

Big, fat, juicy crickets are her favourite.

0:03:080:03:12

She'll pounce on them quickly once you put them in front of her.

0:03:120:03:16

When I stroke her back, she lifts herself.

0:03:160:03:20

She quite likes it. It's like having a back scratch.

0:03:200:03:23

I'm going to call her Gladys.

0:03:230:03:25

Yes, I think she suits Gladys.

0:03:250:03:28

It's a nice name.

0:03:280:03:30

Enter data.

0:03:300:03:32

Name, leopard gecko.

0:03:320:03:34

They have four legs.

0:03:340:03:37

Lifespan, 20 years.

0:03:370:03:40

I give geckos a squirm rating

0:03:400:03:42

of one out of five because they were my favourite reptile.

0:03:420:03:47

Reptile file complete.

0:03:470:03:50

Come on, Gladys. I think we'd better put you away now. There.

0:03:500:03:55

Can we look at another reptile?

0:03:550:03:57

We can, yes. Are you feeling really brave?

0:03:570:04:00

-Yes.

-Yes? Right, OK. I'll swap these over, then.

0:04:000:04:03

I'll just put Gladys over here.

0:04:030:04:06

-And I'll introduce Cecil, our royal python.

-Wow!

0:04:060:04:11

-There you go.

-Before we get Cecil out, I've got these two ribbons.

0:04:110:04:15

This one shows how tall Lily Rose is

0:04:150:04:18

and then there's one that says how long Skipper is.

0:04:180:04:22

And I want to see who's the tallest

0:04:220:04:24

out of Lily Rose, Skipper and Cecil.

0:04:240:04:30

First, I'll do Cecil and Skipper.

0:04:300:04:32

-Let's start from the tail.

-That's it.

-Yeah.

0:04:320:04:37

I think Cecil's bigger.

0:04:370:04:39

Now, we need to see if he's longer than Lily Rose.

0:04:400:04:44

I'll try and keep Cecil as straight as I can.

0:04:440:04:47

I think Cecil's just a bit bigger than Lily Rose.

0:04:490:04:52

Just a little bit, yes.

0:04:520:04:54

I think that answers it.

0:04:540:04:55

-Cecil's taller than Lily Rose, too.

-That's it, yes.

0:04:550:04:59

-Wow!

-Can you see him sticking his tongue out like that?

0:04:590:05:02

-Yes. I think he's looking for something to eat.

-He is.

0:05:020:05:06

They smell with their tongue.

0:05:060:05:08

He's tasting the air.

0:05:080:05:10

A lot of people think snakes are slimy, but he's not is he, really?

0:05:100:05:14

No. And his markings are amazing.

0:05:140:05:17

They don't look real.

0:05:170:05:19

It's time to make a reptile file.

0:05:200:05:22

Enter data.

0:05:220:05:24

Name, royal python.

0:05:240:05:27

They don't have any legs.

0:05:270:05:30

Lifespan, 30 years.

0:05:300:05:33

I give the royal python a squirm rating

0:05:330:05:36

of three out of five, because I am a little bit scared of snakes.

0:05:360:05:40

Bug file complete.

0:05:400:05:42

I have a fascinating fact for you about snakes.

0:05:420:05:46

Snakes have no eyelids, so you'll never see a snake blink.

0:05:460:05:50

Thank you so much for letting me

0:05:500:05:53

hold the geckos and snake.

0:05:530:05:54

You're welcome. I'll just pop Cecil back.

0:05:540:05:57

But I think Gladys was my favourite.

0:05:570:06:00

-Ah, brill.

-Bye!

0:06:000:06:03

Thanks, Ant.

0:06:030:06:04

Remember when I said autumn was a great time for the birds?

0:06:040:06:09

This is one reason. Look at all these fantastic berries.

0:06:090:06:13

Birds love eating berries.

0:06:130:06:15

We mustn't eat them but the birds love them.

0:06:150:06:19

I spotted a message here earlier from some Club members

0:06:190:06:23

who like to help at their local farm.

0:06:230:06:25

I think they've got food on their mind today.

0:06:250:06:28

-Hello, there.

-Hello!

0:06:280:06:31

-I'm Elsie.

-I'm Jasmine.

0:06:310:06:36

-I'm Louis.

-I'm Aliyah.

0:06:360:06:38

Today we're going to help out at our local city farm.

0:06:380:06:43

There is lots to see and do.

0:06:430:06:45

It's not just the animals that need looking after.

0:06:450:06:49

Today we're going to pick some vegetables from the farm.

0:06:500:06:54

Look at this carrot growing underground.

0:06:540:06:58

I found a runner bean and it's very, very sticky and long.

0:07:040:07:08

This plant's nearly as tall as us.

0:07:100:07:14

-Hey, I found a potato.

-Look at my muddy hands.

0:07:190:07:25

Look at this big one.

0:07:250:07:27

I love potatoes.

0:07:270:07:29

Look at these tomatoes. They're very red.

0:07:330:07:37

These green ones aren't ready yet. But we can pick the red ones.

0:07:370:07:42

Look what I've picked.

0:07:420:07:43

-What does it taste like?

-It tastes like juice.

0:07:510:07:56

We found some courgettes.

0:07:590:08:02

Look how big it is.

0:08:020:08:04

This is the biggest one.

0:08:040:08:07

Look, we've found some very big pumpkins.

0:08:100:08:14

Pumpkins are very bright orange.

0:08:140:08:17

It's very smooth.

0:08:170:08:18

Look at this cauliflower.

0:08:230:08:25

It feels really bumpy and its leaves are really big.

0:08:250:08:29

We've had a lovely time at the farm today, picking vegetables.

0:08:290:08:34

-Thanks for coming with us.

-Bye!

0:11:160:11:19

Look at all the hens and cockerels, all lined up in a row.

0:11:190:11:23

They've come along with their owners to take part in the chicken show.

0:11:230:11:29

There are funny, feathered, fluffy ones.

0:11:310:11:35

They come in all shapes and sizes.

0:11:350:11:38

Some wear great big trousers and hope to win big prizes.

0:11:380:11:42

Black, red, white and gold ones.

0:11:450:11:48

Long tails and beaks and skinny feet.

0:11:480:11:52

Lots of different types of hens.

0:11:520:11:56

Not like the birds you usually meet.

0:11:560:11:59

"Cock-a-doodle-do," the cockerel sings.

0:12:010:12:04

The hens lay coloured eggs.

0:12:040:12:06

Chicks show off their little wings.

0:12:060:12:09

Big birds strut their peggy legs.

0:12:090:12:15

Look at all the hens and cockerels, all lined up in a row.

0:12:150:12:20

They've come along with their owners to take part in the chicken show.

0:12:200:12:25

Look at all these amazing leaves I've collected.

0:12:250:12:29

You can see some really beautiful colours at this time of year.

0:12:290:12:33

Just think, a few weeks ago, all of these would have been green.

0:12:330:12:37

Which one's your favourite?

0:12:370:12:39

I think this one's my favourite

0:12:390:12:42

because it looks like red but camouflage, as well.

0:12:420:12:45

-COMPUTER BEEPS

-We've got a message

0:12:450:12:48

from some Green Balloon Club members who live in the New Forest.

0:12:480:12:53

Yes! It's Amy, Lily and Holly.

0:12:530:12:57

What have you found in the forest today?

0:12:570:13:00

Hello.

0:13:000:13:01

we've come to a place we like to visit with our dad.

0:13:010:13:05

Our dad usually works here but today he's got the day off,

0:13:050:13:09

so he can give us and you a special guided tour.

0:13:090:13:13

Come on.

0:13:130:13:14

We're here to spot the wild deer that live here.

0:13:190:13:22

Spotting deer can be quite hard

0:13:240:13:27

because they like to camouflage amongst the trees.

0:13:270:13:31

This viewing platform overlooks the meadow in front of us.

0:13:320:13:37

This is where the herd of fallow deer like to gather.

0:13:380:13:43

The deer here are used to people, because people visit them every day.

0:13:430:13:48

We must stay close to our dad,

0:13:480:13:51

because deer are wild animals and we shouldn't disturb them.

0:13:510:13:56

We must be as quiet as possible. The deer are great at hearing.

0:13:560:14:01

Deer have special muscles in their ears

0:14:010:14:04

that allow them to move their ears in any direction

0:14:040:14:07

-or right round without moving their heads.

-I wonder if I could do that.

0:14:070:14:13

No, I don't think I could.

0:14:150:14:17

-Where do they live?

-Sometimes in the field where they eat.

0:14:190:14:23

-Or they'll hide in the trees.

-Do they get scared at night?

0:14:230:14:27

They don't seem to be scared of the dark. They don't mind it.

0:14:270:14:32

They're wagging their tails.

0:14:330:14:36

The fallow deer flicks its tail to keep itself cool

0:14:360:14:40

and to get rid of flies.

0:14:400:14:42

From the spring to summer, the local keeper comes to feed the deer.

0:14:420:14:49

Deer like to eat grass, leaves, berries and wild fruit.

0:14:490:14:54

We've had a lovely time watching the deer.

0:14:560:14:59

-Thanks for coming to see them with us.

-Bye!

0:14:590:15:05

I loved those deer. I hope Cat was watching.

0:15:050:15:08

She'd have loved them too.

0:15:080:15:10

Her and Skipper were going doggy dancing. I wonder how they're doing.

0:15:100:15:14

Hi, Cat. Hi, Skip.

0:15:140:15:17

Hi. We're going to our last doggy dancing class,

0:15:190:15:22

we're going to put everything into a routine, aren't we, Skipper?

0:15:220:15:28

Hello, Cat. Have you met Chester?

0:15:280:15:30

It feels so long since we met Sue and Chester.

0:15:300:15:33

They showed us their routine

0:15:330:15:35

and Skipper thought we would never be able to do it.

0:15:350:15:39

Sue said we could do anything if we wanted to and practised.

0:15:390:15:43

We showed Sue what tricks we could do.

0:15:430:15:46

I learnt how to use treats to show Skipper what I wanted her to do.

0:15:460:15:50

-Turn your hand to feed her.

-That took some getting used to.

0:15:500:15:54

We learnt different dance moves to make up a routine.

0:15:540:15:57

We made sure we had regular breaks so we didn't get too tired.

0:15:570:16:01

We had a go at an agility course. That was really fun.

0:16:030:16:07

We practised to music and tried to make our moves more dancey.

0:16:070:16:11

Floyd came to see and encourage us.

0:16:110:16:15

Then we came up with our own idea for a move to be our grand finale.

0:16:150:16:20

I thought we were never going to manage it.

0:16:200:16:23

But we did.

0:16:230:16:25

We can't believe it's our last lesson.

0:16:250:16:29

Are you ready to show me your routine?

0:16:290:16:32

Are we, Skipper? Good girl. Yes.

0:16:320:16:36

-We're going to watch. Off you go.

-Come on.

0:16:360:16:40

-Good luck.

-Sit. Good girl.

0:16:400:16:44

Good girl. Other. Good girl, paw.

0:16:470:16:50

Other.

0:16:500:16:53

Through.

0:16:580:16:59

Sit. Stay.

0:17:280:17:31

Skipper.

0:17:400:17:42

-Down.

-Brilliant, well done.

0:17:450:17:48

-Thank you so much for teaching us how to doggy dance.

-It's a pleasure.

0:17:480:17:53

And well done, Skipper.

0:17:530:17:55

And it's made us even better friends.

0:17:550:17:58

You're the bestest dog in the whole world.

0:18:000:18:03

Curled in her basket, Skipper is dreaming.

0:18:060:18:10

She's dreaming of African sunshine today.

0:18:100:18:14

Then, in a twinkle, with a wag of her tail,

0:18:150:18:19

she's off on adventures in lands far, far away.

0:18:190:18:23

Wow! This is amazing.

0:18:400:18:42

Skipper's arrived in the beautiful Masai Mara in Africa.

0:18:450:18:50

What a lot of animals.

0:18:530:18:55

Those ones look like they're in a hurry.

0:18:570:19:00

And look at those stripy zebras.

0:19:000:19:03

Why is everything running away? ROAR

0:19:030:19:06

Barking bones! That's a scary noise.

0:19:060:19:11

Where's it coming from?

0:19:110:19:13

It's a huge daddy lion.

0:19:130:19:15

HE ROARS

0:19:150:19:18

I think I might run away, too.

0:19:270:19:29

Don't worry. That lion isn't hunting. It's having a rest.

0:19:320:19:36

There's a whole family of lions. that's called a pride.

0:19:360:19:40

And look, they're all enjoying playing in the sunshine.

0:19:440:19:48

Really they're just big cats, and since I'm a brave dog,

0:19:580:20:02

I shouldn't be scared.

0:20:020:20:04

Woof, woof.

0:20:040:20:06

Look at them just lazing under the tree.

0:20:060:20:10

It looks like those cubs are having fun. I wonder if I can join in.

0:20:180:20:22

Look, that one's trying to roar like its Daddy.

0:20:240:20:29

CUB ROARS

0:20:290:20:33

Woof, woof, woof. Roar! How's that?

0:20:350:20:42

Now this looks a fun game.

0:20:510:20:53

Chasing your tail. I can do that, too.

0:20:530:20:57

Where is it? Where is it? Come here, come here, I'm getting you.

0:20:570:21:02

It's fun being in a lion pride.

0:21:020:21:07

The adventure is over. Skipper's back in her bed

0:21:070:21:10

with visions of lions running round in her head.

0:21:100:21:13

They'll never believe the things I have seen.

0:21:130:21:17

Did it really happen or was it a dream?

0:21:170:21:22

Skipper sure gets to meet some interesting creatures.

0:21:220:21:26

It's nearly time for me to go.
