-Hello and welcome to another Gwdihw,

-with me, Megan.

-Today, we visit the hens

-in Ysgol Henry Richard.

-Ela, Leah and Elsa

-take the sheep to market.

-First, let's join Tecwyn.

-He has some rather different pets.

-My pet.

-I'm Tecwyn, I keep ferrets.

-This one's Tecwyn too. He's three

-years old and he's my favourite.

-We have 12 ferrets - some brown,

-some grey and some white.

-I like ferrets because they run

-around and never stand still.

-They like playing.

-They go through the tunnels

-and chase me.

-Here's Muriel.

-She's expecting babies.

-When the babies are born, they

-become adults after four months.

-When they're babies, they're

-so small, they fit on a teaspoon.

-They eat ferret food

-and I feed them once a day.

-These were all born here.

-I've looked after them since then.

-Dad cleans the coop.

-He pulls the ferrets out

-and changes their bedding.

-The ferrets are lazy.

-They sleep a lot.

-When it's hot, they sleep more.

-They're covered in fur

-and have sharp teeth.

-They have red eyes and long bodies.

-Ours have black eyes.

-I enjoy looking after ferrets.

-has around 7,000 feathers.

-It can fly at speeds of 40mph...

-..the same speed as a horse gallops.

-Secondly, eog (salmon).

-The salmon is a fish.

-The salmon is quite a big fish.

-They can grow to a length

-of four foot.

-..the same size

-as an eight-year-old child.

-Thirdly, elephant.

-Elephants come from Africa and Asia.

-The African elephant is the largest.

-It's the largest animal

-on our planet.

-Elephants have a long trunk.

-They use this trunk to drink water,

-breathe and feel objects.

-And splash water on people

-they don't like.

-Woof-woof!

-On the Farm.

-I'm Ela, I'm ten.

-I like ballet dancing and farming.

-Here's my little brother Henri,

-Dad and Mam.

-Here are my sisters, Leah and Elsa.

-We're the Jones family.

-The Jones family are off

-to sell some sheep.

-Hello, girls. What do we need to do?

-Take the sheep to sell in the mart.

-That sounds like a lot of work

-to me. How do you prepare?

-Separate the largest

-from the others....

-..and take them to the trailer.

-Let's begin.

-They're running away.

-Chase them, chase them.

-This is hard work.

-We make sure that only the

-largest lambs end up in the trailer.

-While Dad takes the sheep

-to the mart...

-..Mam can give us a lift.

-Off we go.

-We've reached Rhuthun Mart.

-Ready, girls? Off we go.

-Here are the sheep.

-What happens next?

-The auctioneer stands up there

-and we stand in the pens.

-We're hoping for a good price -

-they're sold in groups.

-Groups of how many?

-I hope Dad's happy with the price.

-This auction is different to a shop.

-If you want to buy sheep,

-you must raise your arm.

-Ela, Leah and Elsa make sure

-that the sheep look their best.

-They've been sold.

-Amazing Animal

-There are few places in Wales

-where you'll see one of these.

-The white rhinoceros.

-They live happily with the zebras

-in a wildlife park in Tenby.

-The white rhino

-is the second largest land mammal...

-..after the elephant.

-Rhinoceros means horn on the nose.

-The horn is made out of keratin...

-..the same material as our nails.

-Their skin is thick

-but it's very sensitive.

-It burns in sunlight.

-Instead of applying suntan lotion,

-they roll in the mud.

-The mud protects their skin.

-They are called white rhinos

-but they are grey.

-Don't ask me why.

-They're fast runners,

-almost as fast as a horse.

-They don't look

-as if they can move quickly, though.

-They eat plants and grass. Don't

-worry - they won't try and eat you.

-But if they're angry,

-they will charge at you.

-That can't be nice.

-I think I'll stay this side

-of the fence.

-We're in Tregaron.

-There are hens here.

-We keep hens.

-We've kept hens for almost a year.

-The four of us volunteered

-to look after the hens.

-We feed them every day.

-Corn, pellets and water.

-We clean the coop every fortnight.

-We collect the dung.

-We spread sawdust on the ground

-every fortnight.

-We let the hens out every morning.

-We collect eggs and check

-they have enough food and water.

-At the end of the day, we bring

-them in. They're hard to catch.

-Weet is on the far side.

-Bix is the other white hen.

-Fruit is next to the steps.

-Nut is the brown one.

-Caws is laying eggs.

-We have an egg shop in school.

-It's held in the office.

-A lot of people buy the eggs.

-The price is 1.50 for six eggs.

-Every sound a hen makes

-means something different.

-Bock, bock, bock.

-Bock, bock, bock.

-Bock, bock, bock.

-Different hens

-lay different types of eggs.

-Some lay one a day

-and others lay one a week.

-I like eggs.
