0:20:540:20:58

I've been invited to the gymnastics hall by Wilson.

0:20:580:21:02

Let's go and find him.

0:21:020:21:04

-Hi, Wilson.

-Hi, Katy.

0:21:060:21:09

Wilson, are these your friends? What's your name?

0:21:110:21:14

-Jessica.

-Caitlin.

0:21:140:21:16

-Teagan.

-Wilson, what are we doing today?

0:21:160:21:19

Make something with courgettes.

0:21:190:21:22

I have such a good recipe with courgettes in it.

0:21:220:21:25

Do you want to cook it with me? Come on, let's do some cooking.

0:21:250:21:31

Welcome to my outdoor kitchen.

0:21:340:21:36

-Who wants to know what we're going to cook today?

-ALL: Me!

0:21:360:21:39

OK, I'll tell you. Today's recipe is the delicious green parcel pie.

0:21:390:21:45

-ALL: Ooh!

-Look at that!

0:21:450:21:48

Before we cook, we've got to do something.

0:21:480:21:51

-What do you think it is?

-ALL: Wash our hands.

0:21:510:21:55

We're going to wash our hands.

0:21:550:21:57

# Roll up your sleeves

0:22:020:22:04

# Give your hands a wash with slippy-dippy soap

0:22:040:22:07

# Splish splash splosh

0:22:070:22:08

# Have you done your hands?

0:22:080:22:10

# Washed and dried

0:22:100:22:12

# Sleeves rolled up apron tied

0:22:120:22:14

# What can you do? I can cook! #

0:22:140:22:18

Let's get started.

0:22:200:22:22

The first thing we need to do to make green parcel pie is grating.

0:22:220:22:27

We're going to grate this, a courgette.

0:22:270:22:30

We're going to grate it using a grater, that's it.

0:22:300:22:34

The first thing to do is snap the courgette in half, like this.

0:22:340:22:39

We hold it out in front of us and after three,

0:22:390:22:41

we're all going to snap it like a big snapping crocodile.

0:22:410:22:45

-OK? One, two, three.

-Snap!

0:22:450:22:49

Look at that, it looks like a crocodile's mouth. Snap, snap, snap.

0:22:490:22:53

Now we need to put these pieces of courgette into the grater.

0:22:530:22:58

So we put it in the top part like that.

0:22:580:23:01

Then we put the lid on top of the grater

0:23:010:23:05

and then push down on the top and turn the handle.

0:23:050:23:09

Push down really hard, Teagan, on top.

0:23:090:23:13

Make sure that Wilson can move it, that's it.

0:23:130:23:17

-Good grating.

-He's a top grater.

0:23:170:23:22

Next use a fork and scrape out some of the bits in the middle.

0:23:220:23:26

Great grating, everyone. Next you need this.

0:23:260:23:30

An egg which I've already cracked for you in a bowl.

0:23:300:23:34

Does anybody know where an egg like this might come from?

0:23:340:23:38

-Chicken.

-That's right.

0:23:380:23:41

KATY CLUCKS

0:23:410:23:43

Chicken! Who can pretend to be a chicken?

0:23:430:23:47

THEY ALL CLUCK

0:23:470:23:51

Right, let's get whisking, then. Whizz, whizz.

0:23:510:23:55

Now it's going all mushy.

0:23:550:23:58

Why don't you whisk at home?

0:23:580:24:00

You can get your bowl and your fork and then whisk, whisk, whisk.

0:24:000:24:06

-Wilson, what's happened to your egg?

-It's turned yellow.

0:24:060:24:10

OK, the next ingredient is this.

0:24:100:24:12

This is a delicious soft cheese and it's got a secret ingredient in it.

0:24:120:24:18

Does anybody know what these green bits are?

0:24:180:24:21

-No.

-They're chives, which come from the same family as onions.

0:24:210:24:25

They've got a really strong taste.

0:24:250:24:28

This is cheese and onion flavour, which is delicious in our pie.

0:24:280:24:33

Let's take our soft cheese and our fork and scoop it into our egg.

0:24:330:24:38

Ready? Scoop!

0:24:380:24:40

Then we're going to use our fork to mix it all up.

0:24:400:24:44

Let's go, team.

0:24:440:24:46

When you've mixed everything up, we're going to add another cheese.

0:24:500:24:54

-Who can go cheeeeese?

-ALL: Cheeese!

0:24:540:24:59

The next cheese is an Italian hard cheese

0:24:590:25:03

which you might have had with pasta.

0:25:030:25:06

It's got a really strong taste and smell.

0:25:060:25:09

Let's sprinkle it in. Sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle.

0:25:090:25:14

To take a pinch of pepper, we need help from our pinchy parrot.

0:25:140:25:18

To make a pinchy parrot, you put your thumb down

0:25:180:25:21

and your fingers on top and do a big squawk.

0:25:210:25:26

KATY SQUAWKS

0:25:260:25:27

THEY ALL SQUAWK

0:25:270:25:31

My parrot's so hungry.

0:25:310:25:33

The parrots are hungry so they need a pinch of black pepper.

0:25:330:25:38

Sprinkle it into your bowl.

0:25:380:25:40

Next we add the grated courgette into the lovely eggy cheesy mixture.

0:25:400:25:45

Give everything a giant mix.

0:25:470:25:51

Get all the courgette mixed in with the cheesy mixture.

0:25:530:25:57

-Eggy cheese.

-Put your fork down.

0:25:570:26:00

Now we need to grease our loaf tins.

0:26:000:26:03

I wonder what we're going to need to do that.

0:26:030:26:07

What is next? Let us see if you can guess what it could be.

0:26:070:26:11

So we've got some milk, some rapeseed oil and some pasta.

0:26:110:26:18

What would you choose for green parcel pie?

0:26:180:26:21

I'll give you some clues and you can try and guess.

0:26:210:26:26

The special ingredient is a liquid.

0:26:260:26:30

Pasta is a solid, isn't it?

0:26:300:26:32

We can take that away. Here's another clue.

0:26:320:26:36

The special ingredient is a liquid and it comes from plants.

0:26:360:26:41

Milk comes from cows, doesn't it? We can take that one away.

0:26:410:26:47

That leaves us with rapeseed oil.

0:26:470:26:49

We are going to need this in our green parcel pie.

0:26:490:26:53

I drove to find some.

0:26:530:26:55

I've come to a farm in Hargrave in Northamptonshire

0:26:590:27:03

to find out how rapeseed oil is made.

0:27:030:27:06

When the plants bloom, the flowers are bright yellow.

0:27:060:27:10

When the sun cooks them, they turn into this lovely golden colour.

0:27:100:27:15

The rapeseed plants that look like this

0:27:150:27:18

are cut down by a big machine called a combine harvester.

0:27:180:27:23

There it is now. I think I'm going to have a go.

0:27:230:27:28

There we go, look.

0:27:360:27:39

This machine collects all these little black seeds.

0:27:390:27:43

That's where rapeseed oil comes from.

0:27:430:27:45

The rapeseeds are put in this big machine

0:27:450:27:49

which gently squeezes them until the oil comes out. Look.

0:27:490:27:55

Once the oil has been filtered,

0:27:550:27:58

it just needs to be poured into bottles.

0:27:580:28:01

Fantastic. I can't wait to use this in our green parcel pie.

0:28:010:28:07

Finding out how rapeseed oil is made is fascinating.

0:28:090:28:13

We've got it here. What does the colour remind you of?

0:28:130:28:17

-Shiny gold.

-Yes! Shiny gold.

0:28:170:28:21

We're going to use this rapeseed oil to grease our loaf tin.

0:28:210:28:25

Why don't we practise brushing, painting a picture like an artist.

0:28:250:28:30

Everyone go brush, brush, brush.

0:28:300:28:34

-ALL: Brush, brush, brush.

-Can you do some brushing with us?

0:28:340:28:38

Get your brush and go, "Brush, brush, brush."

0:28:380:28:43

Now dip the brush into the oil.

0:28:430:28:47

Then brush it all over your loaf tin.

0:28:470:28:52

We have to grease our tins so that our pie

0:28:520:28:55

won't stick when it goes in the oven.

0:28:550:28:57

Next we need to make the pie.

0:28:570:29:01

For that we're going to use pastry.

0:29:010:29:03

The type of pastry we're using is filo pastry.

0:29:030:29:08

I've covered the pastry in a damp towel so it doesn't dry out.

0:29:080:29:11

When the filo pastry goes in the oven,

0:29:110:29:14

it's going to go so lovely and crispy.

0:29:140:29:17

Let's take the damp towel away. Can you see it underneath?

0:29:170:29:22

It's so white and fluffy.

0:29:220:29:26

We're going to peel off one layer of filo pastry.

0:29:260:29:29

And we're going to hold it like this,

0:29:290:29:33

gently drop it into your loaf tin.

0:29:330:29:38

Make sure all the edges lie on the outside of the loaf tin, like that.

0:29:380:29:46

Then use our brush, dip it into the rapeseed oil

0:29:460:29:50

and dab it all over your pastry in the tin, like golden raindrops.

0:29:500:29:57

Get it right around the edges.

0:29:570:29:59

They're the bits that go extra crispy when it's in the oven.

0:29:590:30:03

Next we add another layer of filo pastry,

0:30:030:30:06

like you're making a little bed.

0:30:060:30:09

Then we need to dip and dab again.

0:30:090:30:11

Then we need to put the very last bit in quickly before it dries out.

0:30:110:30:17

We don't need to put any oil on this bit.

0:30:170:30:20

The next thing we need to do is scoop the eggy, cheesy mixture

0:30:200:30:25

into the pastry bed.

0:30:250:30:28

-Get a spoon. Have we got a spoon?

-ALL: Yes.

0:30:280:30:31

Take your bowl and scoop the mixture up and splosh it into its bed.

0:30:310:30:38

-Scoop and splosh.

-Splosh, splosh, sploshy.

0:30:380:30:42

Keep scooping until all your mixture is in the pastry bed.

0:30:420:30:47

Last but not least, we have to tuck the mixture in.

0:30:470:30:50

Very gently, take all the filo pastry from around the side

0:30:500:30:55

and fold it over the top.

0:30:550:30:58

Make it all spiky.

0:30:580:31:01

We just need to dab one last bit of oil on top

0:31:010:31:04

to make it extra crispy and shiny.

0:31:040:31:07

Shine, shine, shine.

0:31:080:31:11

And that is it.

0:31:110:31:14

You've put all these ingredients together for your green parcel pie

0:31:140:31:19

all by yourself.

0:31:190:31:21

Now it's time to put them in the oven to cook.

0:31:210:31:25

Remember, ovens are hot, so don't go near.

0:31:250:31:30

Ask a grown-up to help you here.

0:31:300:31:33

# Now we've cooked with you and had lots of fun

0:31:350:31:38

# Let's tidy up and think of all the things that we have done

0:31:380:31:43

# Grating, whisking, mixing, brushing

0:31:430:31:47

# Clearing any mess and putting things away

0:31:470:31:51

# Is always fun to do at the end of the day. #

0:31:510:31:54

Here they are, all cooked and ready to eat. Who's excited?

0:31:560:32:01

ALL: Me!

0:32:010:32:03

I'm so excited. Let's have a look at yours, Wilson.

0:32:030:32:06

KATY GASPS

0:32:060:32:08

-What's changed with yours?

-It's a different colour.

0:32:080:32:12

Caitlin, ready to look at yours? Let's see.

0:32:120:32:17

-Oh! What does it look like?

-It looks hard and crispy.

0:32:170:32:23

OK, team. Let's put the lids on top and we can save this for later on.

0:32:230:32:28

We've travelled to you, we've cooked and had fun.

0:32:280:32:32

-Let's have a party with everyone.

-ALL: Yeah!

0:32:320:32:35

And you can come with us. Come on.

0:32:350:32:38

Here we are at the gymnastics hall

0:32:400:32:42

and we've got our food to share.

0:32:420:32:45

-Who's hungry?

-ALL: Me!

0:32:450:32:49

Let's go and show everyone what we've made.

0:32:490:32:52

Look what I've made, Mum. Green parcel pie.

0:32:520:32:55

What was your favourite bit?

0:32:550:32:58

-Mixing.

-Mixing.

0:32:580:33:00

-Have a taste.

-Mm!

0:33:000:33:04

Wow, that looks lovely. Shall we taste some?

0:33:040:33:09

That is scrummy.

0:33:090:33:11

Is it yummy? It's very tasty.

0:33:120:33:16

Delicious.

0:33:180:33:20

Can you taste what we put on there?

0:33:200:33:23

-What?

-Seed oil.

-Seed oil. Wow.

0:33:230:33:26

You know we've made a green parcel pie,

0:33:260:33:29

-what other vegetables could we use?

-Broccoli.

0:33:290:33:32

That would be a really good one. So what can you do?

0:33:320:33:35

-ALL: I can cook!

-With me and with you.

0:33:350:33:41

If you want to make a green parcel pie,

0:33:410:33:44

you can find the recipe on our website.

0:33:440:33:47

Now our food's gone down, shall we go to gym class?

0:33:490:33:53

-ALL: Yeah.

-Let's go, follow me.

0:33:530:33:56

We're going to do a star jump. Ready? Go.

0:33:560:33:59

One, two, three.
