-Hi, Katy.

0:01:050:01:07

-Come and sit over here. Are these your friends?

-Yes.

0:01:070:01:10

Hi, everybody.

0:01:100:01:11

0:01:110:01:15

-What's your name?

-Myla.

0:01:150:01:17

Great to meet you. And what's your name?

0:01:170:01:19

-Emma.

-What are we going to do today?

-Make something with peppers?

0:01:190:01:25

I have a delicious recipe with peppers.

0:01:250:01:27

Afterwards, can we go for a ride on a boat?

0:01:270:01:30

-Yes.

-Brilliant.

0:01:300:01:31

-Shall we do some cooking?

-ALL: Yes.

-Follow me, I'll show you.

0:01:310:01:35

-HORN TOOTS

-Yes!

0:01:370:01:39

-Welcome to my outdoor kitchen. Who's excited?

-ALL: Me!

0:01:390:01:44

Do you want to know what recipe we're going to cook? I'll show you.

0:01:440:01:49

Today's recipe is pepper boats.

0:01:490:01:52

THEY GASP

0:01:520:01:54

-Delicious!

-Delicious, you're right.

0:01:540:01:57

Before we get started, we've got to do something first.

0:01:570:02:01

-What do you think it is?

-ALL: Wash our hands!

0:02:010:02:05

That's right. Off you go.

0:02:050:02:07

# Roll up your sleeves

0:02:110:02:13

# Give your hands a wash

0:02:130:02:14

# With slippy, dippy soap

0:02:140:02:16

# Splish, splash, splosh

0:02:160:02:17

# Have you done your hands, washed and dried?

0:02:170:02:20

# Sleeves rolled up, apron tied?

0:02:200:02:23

# What can you do? I can cook. #

0:02:230:02:26

Right, let's get started.

0:02:290:02:31

The first thing we must do to make our pepper boats

0:02:310:02:34

-is pop a pepper. Everyone say, "pop a pepper".

-ALL: Pop a pepper.

0:02:340:02:39

And we're going to do that using our thumbs.

0:02:390:02:42

Put your thumbs up in the air like this and go...

0:02:420:02:46

Yeah!

0:02:460:02:47

-ALL: Yeah!

-Everyone go "yeah, yeah, yeah".

-ALL: Yeah, yeah, yeah!

0:02:470:02:51

We're going to use these thumbs to put them on top of

0:02:510:02:55

this little green button on top of the pepper,

0:02:550:02:59

which is where the stalk comes from. So put your thumbs on top.

0:02:590:03:03

We'll push down using all our might and pop the pepper.

0:03:030:03:07

Ready, push and pop. Look at that. Pop!

0:03:070:03:12

-My button went inside.

-You did a great job, Shahzad.

0:03:120:03:15

Then, we're going to gently rip the pepper into two halves.

0:03:150:03:20

R-r-r-rip! Go!

0:03:200:03:23

THEY LAUGH

0:03:230:03:25

And what are all these little things that you can see inside the pepper?

0:03:250:03:30

-Seeds.

-The seeds. And we don't want to eat the seeds,

0:03:300:03:33

so we're going to turn the peppers over like this

0:03:330:03:37

and pretend that they're little pepper drums.

0:03:370:03:40

# Dum-dum dum-dum dum dum dum. #

0:03:400:03:42

You've got it, that's it, we play our pepper drums.

0:03:420:03:47

# Do do do do do do do. #

0:03:470:03:50

And stop.

0:03:500:03:52

The next thing we're going to do is snip some of these lovely tomatoes.

0:03:520:03:57

What do you think we'll find inside of them, Myla?

0:03:570:04:00

-Juice and seeds.

-Yes! Juice and lots of seeds.

0:04:000:04:05

So let's snip them and find those seeds.

0:04:050:04:08

So we'll use our scissors to do the snipping,

0:04:080:04:11

Be safe with scissors.

0:04:110:04:13

Everybody knows we point them down towards our...?

0:04:130:04:16

-ALL: Toes.

-You've got it, team.

0:04:160:04:18

Woo!

0:04:190:04:21

Do a big snip. Wooh!

0:04:210:04:24

THEY LAUGH

0:04:240:04:25

What's happening to the tomato?

0:04:250:04:27

It's exploding. I can see seeds inside.

0:04:270:04:30

Lots of juice.

0:04:300:04:32

Don't forget you can snip with us at home.

0:04:320:04:35

Get your scissors like this and then you go snip, snip, snippity snip.

0:04:350:04:40

That's it! And I want you to pour your tomatoes into this bowl.

0:04:400:04:44

Splat, splat, splat, splat.

0:04:440:04:46

-Go splat, splat, splat.

-ALL: Splat, splat, splat!

0:04:460:04:50

THEY LAUGH

0:04:500:04:51

The next ingredient we'll add is olive oil.

0:04:510:04:54

Take your olive oil

0:04:540:04:56

and I want you to splosh it in with your tomatoes.

0:04:560:05:00

Ready? Splosh!

0:05:000:05:02

-It's sticky and gooey.

-It is.

0:05:020:05:05

Next we need a pinch of black pepper and the help of our pinchy parrot

0:05:050:05:11

I'll show you how to make a pinchy parrot.

0:05:110:05:14

Put your thumb down, put two fingers on top and do a squawk like this.

0:05:140:05:19

-ALL: Squawk!

-Oh, my goodness me!

0:05:190:05:24

He's very hungry today so he's going to take a pinch of black pepper.

0:05:240:05:28

And sprinkle it in with your tomatoes and olive oil.

0:05:280:05:32

The next ingredient we add is these.

0:05:320:05:35

They're called pine nuts and they're so tasty.

0:05:350:05:39

But if you can't eat nuts, you can add anything that you want to.

0:05:390:05:44

So hold the handle

0:05:440:05:47

and then load your spoon up with a big mountain of pine nuts.

0:05:470:05:52

Carefully bring it over to your bowl and...whoosh!

0:05:520:05:56

Looking great!

0:05:560:05:58

What ingredient so we need next in our pepper boats?

0:05:580:06:02

What is next? Well, let us see...

0:06:020:06:05

if you can guess what it could be!

0:06:050:06:08

So, we've got a carrot,

0:06:090:06:13

some basil and some peas, too.

0:06:130:06:16

What would you choose for our pepper boats?

0:06:160:06:19

I'll give you clues and you can guess what it is.

0:06:190:06:22

OK, so first clue is that the special ingredient is green.

0:06:220:06:27

Carrots aren't green! They're orange so let's take that one away.

0:06:270:06:31

OK, here's another clue.

0:06:310:06:33

So the special ingredient is green and it's a type of herb.

0:06:330:06:37

Well, peas aren't a type of herb, they're a vegetable.

0:06:370:06:42

So we can take that one away, too.

0:06:420:06:44

Which leaves us with basil. We'll need some basil in our pepper boats.

0:06:440:06:50

You can grow basil all by yourself

0:06:560:06:59

and you don't even need that much space to do it.

0:06:590:07:03

You need a little pot like this,

0:07:030:07:05

some soil and some basil seeds, which look like this.

0:07:050:07:11

They're really tiny, aren't they?

0:07:110:07:14

To turn these basil seeds into a basil plant, we need to plant them.

0:07:140:07:20

We plant them in a little pot.

0:07:200:07:22

I've got a yoghurt pot and put some soil inside of it.

0:07:220:07:27

So we need to make a little hole and put the basil seeds inside it.

0:07:270:07:33

Then push them down

0:07:330:07:36

and cover it up with some soil.

0:07:360:07:40

Now, like you and I, all plants need water to grow.

0:07:400:07:43

So we need to water our basil plant with this.

0:07:430:07:47

And then if we leave it somewhere warm, after about two weeks,

0:07:490:07:55

little green shoots will come through.

0:07:550:07:58

The leaves are tiny!

0:07:580:08:00

If we look after our basil plants,

0:08:000:08:03

they'll grow really big, like this one. Look, the leaves are huge!

0:08:030:08:08

We'll use this basil in our pepper boats.

0:08:080:08:12

Here is the basil all grown up. We're using it in our recipe.

0:08:130:08:18

We've got a few leaves here, you can see.

0:08:180:08:21

When you tear up this basil, it's got a really strong smell.

0:08:210:08:26

-Shall we all rip it up and smell it?

-Yeah.

0:08:260:08:29

Come on then, Let's rip and tear! Like this.

0:08:290:08:32

Tear and rip.

0:08:320:08:36

Rip and tear.

0:08:360:08:38

It's like tearing paper.

0:08:380:08:41

-Ah, I can smell it!

-I can smell something very good.

0:08:410:08:46

It smells delicious, doesn't it?

0:08:460:08:49

Once you've ripped up your basil leaves, tip them into your bowl.

0:08:490:08:55

-It looks yummy.

-It looks super yummy! I agree with you.

0:08:550:09:00

Hold your bowl and spoon. Let's get mixing!

0:09:000:09:03

-ALL: Let's get mixing!

-Woo-hoo!

0:09:030:09:06

Mix, mix, mix, mix!

0:09:060:09:08

It looks squishy!

0:09:110:09:13

Get your bowl and get your spoon, and go "Mix, mix, mix!"

0:09:130:09:19

That's it, keep mixing with us.

0:09:190:09:22

OK, now we're going to scoop the mixture out of the bowl

0:09:220:09:26

and put it into our peppers. Scoop!

0:09:260:09:30

Then get another giant scoop...

0:09:330:09:36

Scoop!

0:09:360:09:38

..and put it in your other one.

0:09:380:09:42

We've got so many colours in our peppers now.

0:09:420:09:45

We've got the yellow colour of our pepper, the red of the tomato

0:09:450:09:50

and the green of the basil. It's a rainbow dish!

0:09:500:09:53

Our next ingredient is called goat's cheese.

0:09:530:09:57

-I love it.

-You love it?

-Me too!

0:09:570:10:00

Well, goat's cheese comes from goat's milk

0:10:000:10:03

and most cheese usually comes from cow's milk.

0:10:030:10:06

We're going to split this goat's cheese in half, like this.

0:10:060:10:11

Can you do that?

0:10:110:10:12

We're going to crumble it on top of our peppers. Crumble, crumble!

0:10:120:10:18

Look at this, it's fantastic!

0:10:190:10:22

Do one half at a time. So half goes in one pepper and half in the other.

0:10:220:10:27

It's sticky wicky!

0:10:270:10:30

There we go. That's it, you did it!

0:10:300:10:35

You made your pepper boat all by yourself.

0:10:350:10:39

Now it's time to put them in the oven.

0:10:390:10:42

Remember ovens are hot so don't go near.

0:10:440:10:47

Ask a grown-up to help you here.

0:10:470:10:51

# Now we've cooked with you

0:10:510:10:54

# And had lots of fun

0:10:540:10:55

# Let's tidy up and think of all the things that we have done

0:10:550:10:59

-# There was...

-Mixing!

-Popping!

-Cutting!

0:10:590:11:02

-# And...

-Snipping!

0:11:020:11:03

# Now clearing any mess and putting things away

0:11:030:11:07

# Is always fun to do at the end of the day! #

0:11:070:11:12

And here they are, team. They're all cooked and ready to eat!

0:11:120:11:18

-That's yours.

-And that's yours!

-That's mine.

0:11:180:11:22

Shall we have a look at Myla's? Open it up, Myla!

0:11:220:11:25

-Wow!

-Ooo! Can you see what's happened to the pepper here?

0:11:250:11:32

-It's gone all crumbly.

-It's gone wrinkly and orange!

0:11:320:11:36

In the oven, the pepper's gone like this...

0:11:360:11:40

-It's gone wrinkly!

-It feels tickly.

0:11:400:11:44

Oh, yeah, and all knobbly!

0:11:440:11:47

Let's look at Shahzad's.

0:11:470:11:50

It looks like it was a on a pizza with a giant pepper on it!

0:11:500:11:58

It looks amazing in our tum.

0:11:580:12:00

I think it will be yummy in our tummies.

0:12:000:12:03

OK, everyone, let's put our lids on top and save our food for later on.

0:12:030:12:07

We've travelled to you, cooked and had fun.

0:12:070:12:10

-Now let's have a party with everyone!

-ALL: Yay!

0:12:100:12:15

Come on! You can come with us. Follow me, everyone.

0:12:150:12:19

-Who is hungry?

-ALL: Me!

0:12:200:12:23

We've got some time before our boat leaves so shall we share our food?

0:12:230:12:28

-ALL: Yes.

-Come on, then, what are we waiting for?

0:12:280:12:33

Mummy, look what I made. Pepper boats!

0:12:330:12:36

Beautiful. What did you love about cooking today?

0:12:360:12:40

-I loved snipping tomatoes.

-Hmm, this looks yummy!

0:12:400:12:46

This is so delicious. I really like that!

0:12:460:12:51

-Oh, it looks yummy. Can you taste cheese?

-Yeah, goat's cheese.

0:12:510:12:55

Hmm, great! Do you like it?

0:12:550:12:59

So, Myla, what would you make if you made this dish,

0:12:590:13:03

-but a sweet version, like a pudding?

-Apple.

-What could we fill it with?

0:13:030:13:10

Sugar and some strawberries.

0:13:100:13:12

That's a great idea. We should do that next time!

0:13:120:13:16

-So everybody, what can you do?

-ALL: I can cook with me and with you!

0:13:160:13:22

If you want to make a pepper boat,

0:13:220:13:25

you can find the recipe on our website...

0:13:250:13:28

-Do you think we should go for a ride on the boat?

-ALL: Yes!

0:13:290:13:33

Come on, let's go or we'll miss it!

0:13:330:13:36

Let's go in a bigger boat!

0:13:360:13:39

# I can cook. #

0:13:400:13:41

Shall we go and have a look at the big window?

0:13:430:13:46

Oh, look at the flag on the front of the boat. That's cool.

0:13:460:13:51

Look at the bell. There's a bell on the front of the boat!

0:13:510:13:56

Oh, get ready! Go!
