Today's fantastic recipe is going to be...

strawberry meringue ice cream!

-Doesn't that look SO tasty?

-ALL: Yes!

We're ready to make a start,

but there's one thing we need to do first. Do you know what?

-ALL: Wash our hands!

-That's right, yes.

# Roll up your sleeves, give your hands a wash

Let's get started.

To make our strawberry meringue ice cream,

we start with double cream.

Then, you need a whisk like this.

This is a spring whisk and we use it to make our cream really thick.

So shall we go, everyone?

Three, two, one, get whisking!

Whisking will make our mixture really nice and thick.

It's going to add lots of air and make it really fluffy and nice.

What do white fluffy things remind you of?

-Clouds.

-Clouds in the sky?

-Candyfloss.

-What else?

-Rabbits.

-Rabbits.

-Sheep's wool.

-That's cool.

How's everyone's whisking going?

-Alfie, how does your arm feel?

-Hurting.

My arm is aching. Oh!

If you don't have a whisk,

you can put two forks together and whisk that way.

Can you pretend to whisk at home, as well, like this?

This is making me dizzy.

Once it's nice and fluffy, we stop whisking

because we don't want to whisk it too much.

Now, we add some natural yoghurt.

So, gloop it in, like this.

We've got lots of white ingredients, haven't we?

It's like a snowy bowl.

Finished!

And then we're going to add some icing sugar

to add lots of sweetness to our ice cream.

Sprinkle it in. Oh, wow, look, it makes a cloud!

And then give it all a good old stir.

Mix it up.

Try and get the bits off the side, as well, Ben.

We're going to need strawberries in our strawberry meringue ice cream.

Where in the garden do you think we'll find strawberries hiding?

Do you think they'll be in the greenhouse?

Or growing out of the ground?

Or will they be in pots and containers?

Out of the ground.

That's right. They can also grow in pots and containers too.

Let's go and have a look.

Who can spot the strawberries growing?

ALL: Me!

Actually, they're playing hide and seek. See if you can find them.

These strawberries are growing out of the ground.

You can sometimes grow them out of a compost bag

and, even more exciting, you can grow them out of a watering can.

How do we know when the strawberries will be ready to pick?

-When they're all red.

-When they're all red.

-Is this one ready to pick?

-ALL: Yes.

-But is this one here ready?

-ALL: No!

Shall we do some picking? A little bit of a twist, like that.

Now we've picked our strawberries, let's get back to the kitchen.

We're back in the kitchen, we've washed our hands and strawberries

and we're ready to start cooking again.

We've got four of the nicest strawberries. Shall we count?

One, two, three, four.

Now hold their little green hats

and use the back of our fork to mash them up. Ready, everyone?

-I'm doing this big one first.

-That's really good.

Keep mashing, everyone. I love mashing.

-Nicole, what do your strawberries smell of?

-Flowers.

Flowers?!

What fruits could we put in?

Raspberries, apples, bananas or blueberries?

What would you put in your ice cream?

-Raspberries.

-Oh, yeah, love raspberries.

Next, we separate the green bits from the red bits.

-I already did.

-Because we don't want those bits.

And now we put all the lovely red squashed strawberries

into our creamy mixture.

So off we go, everyone. Come on. Pour it in.

This is SO delicious.

Pick it up with your fingers, Nicole, and put them in.

That's it, Nicole. Well done. Really good.

I'm not picking them up because it's all slimy.

Next, you need one of these. It's called a meringue nest.

This is a really fun part because we put it in our hands...

Everyone do it with me, come on.

Hold it over your bowl, like a flying saucer. Nyeow...

-Nyeow!

-And we're going to crunch it in our hand. After three.

One, two, three.

Crunch! Look, it's like snow crumbling all over.

Then give everything a gentle stir with a fork.

Oh, this looks so scrummy yummy diddly-ummy.

That's it, Ben. That is brilliant!

Jessica, that's excellent. Well done, Nicole.

-Alfie, what does your mixture look like?

-A tomato.

A tomato?!

And now we pour the mixture into a container

that can go in the freezer with a lid.

Everyone, let's pour. Come on.

Look at it. Mm...ohh!

-It's like coleslaw!

-It's like coleslaw?!

-Jessica, what do you think it looks like?

-Er, strawberry milkshake.

-I really like strawberry milkshake.

-Me too.

I think it might taste really scrumptious.

Now, we're going to put our ice cream

in the freezer for two hours.
