Oh, my goodness, my sister's having a baby!

I'm going to be an uncle.

Yes, and look, this is a picture of the baby inside her tummy.

Isn't that amazing?

If you have a baby brother or a sister,

you'll know that having a baby is a very special event.

That's what the wonderful festival I've got to show you today

is all about.

It's called...Christmas.

And I've got a friend who's getting ready for it.

Hi, my name's Katie and this is my sister, Hannah.

And we're getting ready to celebrate Christmas.

Christmas is our favourite time of year.

We have a special calendar called the advent calendar

to count down the days to Christmas.

Every day we open a new door.

Look! Baby on a donkey.

Christmas is a day when Christians

remember the day that Jesus was born.

THEY LAUGH

We're going to make a card to give to Mum and Dad for Christmas.

-We're going to make this a head, yeah?

-Oh, yeah.

It needs eyes.

-Two.

We need a mouth.

And a nose.

-It needs a scarf.

-To keep it warm in the night.

Shall we have some snowflakes at the top?

Perfect!

There, finished, yeah!

I can't wait to give the card to Mum and Dad.

-Mum's back from shopping!

-Mum, what did you get?

Well, I've got presents for a boy and presents for a girl.

-Shall we put them in the boxes?

-OK.

At Christmas, we love getting presents.

And it's great to give presents too.

We're going to give some presents to children

who don't have as many toys as we do.

Now our presents are ready, we'll take them to church.

They'll give them to children that need them.

I bet the children that get these on Christmas Day will be so happy.

It's really fun coming to our church at Christmas

because we can see all our friends.

We're decorating the Christmas tree.

I found a nice little bauble.

I'm going to put it there.

Now we're going to set up the nativity scene.

The nativity scene reminds us of the Christmas story.

There's Joseph.

And Mary and Jesus.

And there were even sheep in the stable.

I know a place where we can see animals.

Come on, Katie.

We're going to our local farm to see the animals.

-There were sheep in the nativity.

-There were. Who brought the sheep?

-Was it baby Jesus?

-The shepherds.

-Hello.

-Come on, hello!

What animal should we visit next?

-Do you want to see the donkey?

-Yeah, but where? Over there!

-Oh, they're lovely, aren't they?

Did you know a donkey was in the nativity?

That's right, the donkey carried Mary all the way to the stable.

I bet he was tired.

Our friends are playing Christmas songs for everyone.

I can't wait until Christmas now!

I love Christmas.

And I've decided to send a present to my niece...

Or my nephew.

I've got a bit stuck, ha-ha!

I'm not very good at wrapping.

While I try to get myself out of this,

would you like to hear the Christmas story?

This is the story of a very special baby.

One day, a young girl called Mary was in her house.

Suddenly a bright light entered the room

and there above her was a huge and beautiful angel.

The angel filled the room with light as he spoke.

"Mary", he said.

"Don't be scared, God has chosen you to have a baby.

"A special king, he was promised long ago.

"His name will be Jesus."

Mary wanted to ask lots of questions,

but she trusted the angel and said,

"I will do whatever God wants."

Nine months later, the baby was almost ready to be born

and Mary and her husband, Joseph,

had to travel a long way to Bethlehem.

Mary was tired and uncomfortable on the journey.

She knew the baby was going to be born soon.

The only place Joseph could find was an old, draughty stable.

Mary gave birth to a baby boy and called him Jesus.

Because there was no cot for him, she laid Jesus in a manger.

A dirty animal-feeding trough.

What a way for a king to begin his life!

Some wise men came to visit.

They wanted to celebrate the birth of a new baby

and gave presents of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

They knew where Jesus was because they had followed a beautiful star,

which led them to the stable.

Can you see the star?

Now, it's a good job that man didn't have his hands covered in sticky tape

and wrapping paper, isn't it?

There, finished!

We have a special job to do in church today.

We're going to the Christmas market now.

The Christmas market is really busy,

with everyone rushing around getting ready for Christmas.

Oh, look, it's a Jesus!

Baby Jesus.

Joseph, the shepherds...

There's a big one there.

Right, girls, I've got somebody who'd like to meet you.

-Wow!

-Wow!

-Come in and sit down. Have you both been good this year?

-Yeah.

-Yeah.

Good, so I can come and see you on Christmas Eve night?

-BOTH:

-Yeah!

Are you going to leave something?

-Yeah.

-What are you going to leave?

-Mince pie.

-That'll be lovely.

-I hope you have a merry Christmas.

-Thank you!

It's time for us to go home now.

There's still a few more things we need to do before Christmas arrives.

We're making mince pies to have at Christmas.

Thank you.

We can leave one out for Father Christmas when he comes.

Push it down, that's it. Keep pushing it.

-And then turn it over to the other side.

-That's it.

There's some mince, so if I get two spoons you can have a spoon,

and you can have a spoon.

-Oh, looking good.

-We can give one to Santa.

He said, "What you going to leave out?", we said, "Mince pies".

Excellent, well he...

We could put "Homemade".

Can you put some more tops on for us?

There we are, all done. Now it's time to put them in the oven.

-Go on then, Mummy.

-There we are.

Hooray, those mince pies!

They're ready. Would you like one?
