Welcome to all-new Marrying Mum And Dad,

the show where the kids are in charge

of planning their parents' actual wedding day.

They're responsible for making one of the most important days

of Mum and Dad's life a success, not to mention, a complete surprise.

And we're here to help them make it happen.

Today, we're in Fife in Scotland where we have two planners who

can't wait to launch a massive wedding, Marrying Mum And Dad style.

Meet sisters Molly and Katie Rigby, two girls who know the best

and worst about their family.

That's my sister, Molly. She's 11.

She likes being creative and she can be really annoying.

That's my sister, Katie. She's ten.

She's my best friend

but can be a bit of a diva.

-Ahh!

-The girls live with Dad - Tony, and Mum - Donna.

Our mum is really nice and kind.

She always makes us breakfast and dinner and tea

but she can be really grumpy.

What does grumpy Mum have to say about the girls?

Molly and Katie are both very creative,

they have lots of ideas, they've always got lots to say about things.

And what's Dad like?

Our dad can make anything but he is accident-prone

and he has smelly feet.

Mum and Dad have been together for 14 years

but have never found time to get married.

So what's been stopping them?

My dad's, like, got down on one knee but he had no ring

so my mum said no.

Oh, dear.

Any other reasons, Dad?

It never really happened because we decided to have holidays instead.

Mum and Dad might just wish they'd missed one of those family holidays

because now, Molly and Katie

are taking control of their wedding plans and they mean business.

We want our mum and dad to get married.

If they're not going to do it after all this time...

..we're going to do it for them.

Sounds like this family needs

a Marrying Mum And Dad helping hand, Ed.

It's time for the girls to pull off the family's biggest adventure yet.

-A wedding.

-So that means we've got to organise a venue.

There's just a handful of weeks until the big day so

Molly and Katie need to take control

before we all turn into snowmen.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are

gathered here today for some pretty serious business.

-and utterly organise a wedding day you'll never forget?

And do you, Dad, accept you'll have absolutely no say in what goes on?

-BOTH:

Then, with the joining of hands,

I now pronounce Katie and Molly 100% officially in charge.

The girls are in charge and they can't wait to tell us

their big idea for the wedding.

This is the exciting moment when you reveal to us

what theme you have decided.

-You've got one in your minds? BOTH:

-Yes.

-OK, what is it?

-BOTH:

-Space.

-Space?

-Space?

-Yeah!

-Oh, fantastic, that's brilliant.

-That's epic, that's huge.

Yeah, I think your mum and dad will love that as well

because they're clearly big kids because they're having a big

fight in the garden with some snowballs at the moment.

-It's going to be an interplanetary extravaganza.

-Yeah.

That's our theme sorted.

We're off into space to boldly go where no wedding planners

have ever gone before!

We've got our mission but with the countdown to our launch date

already started, we need some intergalactic inspiration.

While Ed's gone off to find a venue,

-I've brought Molly and Katie to an observatory.

-Wow.

From the telescope here, not only can you see the moon,

you can even see planets like Saturn, Jupiter and Mars.

-RECORDING:

-It's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

There's no doubt that exploring space is a pretty awesome thing to do.

Whether it's zero-gravity moon walks,

rockets that can travel at 17,000 mph or those cool-looking

astronaut suits which mean you can breathe when there's no oxygen,

space is definitely the place.

It goes Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars...

So, has the observatory made the girls' imaginations rocket?

-Are you now bursting with crazy space ideas?

-Yes.

What's the venue going to be like?

-It would be dark but then we would have...

-Tons of lights.

-..lights.

-Some smoke would be good.

-Ooh.

And we also thought of, like, having Mum and Dad,

like, kind of flying and then they would land in all this smoke.

-How will they be about doing that?

-Fine.

-Fine.

Except our mum, she's just a teeny bit scared of heights.

ALARM BUZZES

I wouldn't like anything up high, I have a real fear of heights.

Well, Naomi, let's hope she's feeling brave on the big day.

Right, your mum and dad are going to come in, floating, wearing what?

Well, our mum would be wearing kind of like a normal white dress

but make it look all spacey with, like, air tubes and like a backpack

and our dad would be wearing, like, a full-on spacesuit with a visor.

Ooh, can't wait to see Dad on the big day.

So, the observatory has given the girls ideas aplenty.

I hope Ed's been working just as hard to find a venue. Hello, Ed.

-'Hello.'

-Hello.

Hey, we're at this observatory, which is wicked, with Molly and Katie.

It's given them all this spacey inspiration.

How's your venue hunt going?

Well, it's going to be fine. Leave it with me, it's all under control.

-That's not filling me with confidence.

-Don't worry about that.

We've only got three weeks to sort all of this out, Ed.

Ah, don't you worry, I am totally confident.

I think I've found the perfect venue to launch Mum

and Dad into a marital Milky Way.

'To make it happen, the venue needs to have high ceilings

'and stratospheric special effects, and this theatre's got the lot.'

-I just said "bum" loads. What do you think?

-Amazing.

-We could put smoke all over the stage.

'Sounds impossible but I've got a plan.'

We'll have your mum on one side, your dad on the other,

and then we can sort of fly them in, you know

-Yeah.

-Because we're in the theatre, we can do that.

-Ed, there's a problem here.

-I'm a bit scared of heights.

But Molly and Katie don't seem worried.

That's the venue sorted, and with Mum and Dad floating

to their marriage ceremony, the wedding transport's ticked off too.

'Next up, the girls are switching their attention to outfits.

'Molly and Katie already have loads of ideas about what to dress Mum

'and Dad in on the big day.'

-That would be like the front with air tubes and like a backpack.

-Yeah.

And that would be the back and it would say Marrying Mum And Dad.

So what we need to do, probably, is buy a traditional white dress

-and then get a designer to customise it for us.

-Yeah.

'It's a tough job but somebody has to do it.

'Yes, that's right, shopping trip.

'Our mission - find Mum a dress that we can transform to help her

'shine like a star at her space wedding.'

I just don't like the droopy sort of neck thing.

Eh, it would be good if it didn't have...

-Those flowers.

-..flowers because they're not really space

unless they were freeze-dried flowers.

NAOMI LAUGHS

-This is true. This one?

-Actually, yeah.

-It's got the buttons.

-Yeah.

-This one will be Mum's wedding dress?

-BOTH: Yes.

And then we'll totally make it space-ified.

These girls really know what's going to work for Mum, and just

as quickly, they choose a dress to customise for themselves too.

-I like that one best.

-Katie?

-I like this one best as well.

You both like that one best? Well, that might be the decision made then.

Now, can local textile designers Christie and Stephen

turn the girls' space designs into reality?

-We could cut a hole in that and paint it...

-Aw, yeah!

-MOLLY:

-Is that a good star?

-That's perfect, that's lovely.

OK, so Mum's outfit is completely under control. What about your dad?

Well, our dad, we want our dad to wear,

like, a full-on astronaut suit.

-Who knows a load about space that we could get in touch with?

-Nasa?

-Nasa?

-Yeah.

-Shall we ring Nasa?

-Yeah.

-Yeah.

If Molly and Katie are looking for expert help,

they can't do much better than the clever folks at Nasa.

The North American Space Agency has sent more than

half of the world's astronauts into orbit.

Hello, is this Nasa?

-AMERICAN WOMAN ON PHONE:

-'Yes, this is Nasa at Kennedy Space Center.'

Wow!

Me and Molly are doing a space-themed wedding for our mum

and dad and we're going to plan it all by ourselves.

'You guys are crazy.'

We thought for our dad, for an astronaut,

like he'd just wear a big astronaut suit but we don't know where to

get an astronaut suit so would you maybe...could you maybe send us one?

'Well, I think most of our suits are being used right now

-'and it takes a couple of years to make one...'

-A couple of years?!

'You may have to get creative there.'

Nasa may not have may not have a spacesuit for Dad

but they do have something that the girls can serve at the wedding.

'We've got some freeze-dried ice cream so after you serve

-'the cake, you could serve some freeze-dried ice cream.'

-Yay.

-Yay.

That would be amazing, yes, please.

-So she can't help us with the spacesuit.

-We could search on the internet, I suppose.

Space ice cream is a result but still no astronaut suit

although Dad already suspects the girls are up to something.

The girls have already told me

that they're going to make my life a misery on the wedding.

It's going to be an excuse to really embarrass Dad...and they're

both relishing in that fact.

So, a spacesuit still to get

but Mum and Dad's outfits are well on the way to being ticked off.

Molly and Katie are halfway through their plans

-for Mum and Dad's big day.

-Wow.

So far, they've decided on space as the theme...

-Yeah.

-Fantastic, that's brilliant.

..they've found a venue which they've started to decorate

by building their own rocket...

and they've customised Mum's wedding dress.

It's a good job Mum and Dad

still don't have a clue what the girls are up to.

It's getting closer and closer to the day. How are you feeling?

-A bit nervous.

-How are you feeling? - How am I feeling?

I'm, eh...I'm feeling quite relaxed actually. Yeah. - Don't be!

With only a couple of weeks to go until the wedding, time is fast

running out for the girls to finish their plans,

so they need to crack on.

As part of planning their mum and dad's wedding,

Katie and Molly need to think about the whole day,

including entertainment for the guests

and they've come up with an ambitious idea.

We're making a Plasticine movie for the wedding

and it's just like Wallace and Gromit.

You do know these are quite difficult,

they take ages to make because you have to move it and take a little

photo, then move it and take a little photo, it takes a long time.

-Yeah. We've made one before.

-Have you?

-Yeah. OK.

I needn't have worried, the girls are obviously pros.

So what have they got planned?

our mum and dad get abducted by aliens...

-Oh, no.

-..and they get taken to, like, the moon or something

and then they get married there.

How long do you think this is going to take?

Em, it's only going to take about...

-Three days.

-..three days or something.

-Three days?

Well, if you think you can do it in the amount of time you've got,

I say go for it.

With the wedding entertainment planned,

it's another tick for the girls.

Molly and Katie are now rocketing along with their plans.

They've looked online and found a spacesuit for Dad.

The girls have also fired off an idea for a space-themed

wedding cake to a cake-maker.

So, time to see if their design can be turned into the real thing.

We're going to meet Doreen, the woman who's designing your cake.

Now, you e-mailed her your cake design, what was it?

-It was this, it's a rocket.

-Yeah, we just want to show you the cake.

It's only halfway built but let's see what you think.

-Aw, cool.

-Cool.

Mum and Dad's cake is already over a metre high and on the day,

it'll be even bigger!

But to get this rocket firing on all cylinders in time

for the wedding, the girls will need to roll their sleeves up.

We just need to let the butter melt for a second

and then we need to add what's left of the marshmallows.

Do we tip them all in there?

Do you want me to give you a wee hand? No.

A little bit at a time, OK.

It's all sticky.

It's really coming together. I can't believe how big it is.

I just hope Doreen can get it all done

because we haven't got long left.

I can't be here to supervise all the time.

Well, it looks like the cake should be sorted, no thanks to Ed.

With that final piece of our wedding jigsaw falling into place,

Molly and Katie are almost ready for Mum and Dad's intergalactic big day.

From orbit-ready outfits to blast-off baking,

Nasa phone calls to spacewalks,

the girls have worked flat out to make their plans a reality.

But Mum and Dad are wondering

if Molly and Katie might be planning some wedding-day mischief.

I'm the prankster in the house, really,

so this is just revenge as far as the children are concerned.

If revenge comes in the shape of huge, icing-covered rockets,

spacewalks and, er, astronaut suits as wedding outfits,

then you're spot-on, Dad.

It's the night before the most earth-shattering wedding ever

and there's still loads to do.

Over at the venue, it's a space race to get everything ready in time.

There's still so much to be done, like the decorating.

Well, our mum and dad are probably going to be really amazed

with what we've done because we planned their wedding

-and it's going to be spectacular.

-Yeah.

Tonight, the family are staying at a hotel near to the top-secret

wedding venue and Mum and Dad are getting nervous.

I've been told that I've to wear flat shoes

because there's lots of activity

so I'm just a bit worried that we're going to be doing lots of stuff.

YOU'RE nervous!?

I've been the one that's been told I've got to wear

a pair of cycling shorts and a T-shirt.

That's my outfit so far.

Mum has no idea that in less than 24 hours, she'll be asked to

face her fear of heights by doing a full-on spacewalk.

But will she go through with it?

It's only like a 50% chance that she's going to...fly.

Let's hope she's feeling brave

because it's almost time for blast-off.

your hair and make-up done and you'd both be getting into your outfits...

Well, it's not.

Your outfits are just too special to transport so instead,

we're going to take you to them at your wedding venue.

As we arrive at the theatre where their wedding will take place,

Mum and Dad are nervous and still completely in the dark.

-BOTH:

-It's Mum's worst nightmare.

I got to see everybody, give everybody a wave, quite enjoyed it.

Mum and Dad's spacewalk has brought the house down.

'I did enjoy it, yeah.'

I was a wee bit worried when my dress got caught

and I started getting pulled over at the side...

No, you were sitting on his head at one point.

That was the best bit, that was hilarious.

-TONY:

-There was just a bum came towards me.

Ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome the bridal party?

Mum and Dad have just pulled off the most spectacular entrance to

any wedding ever.

And with the reception room looking fantastic, it seems that Molly

and Katie's hard work decorating the venue has really paid off.

After a quick bit of rocket fuel for our space travellers,

it's over to Katie to introduce the girls' entertainment.

Well, me and Molly made a clay movie and we made it for our mum and dad.

We made it because they always do stuff for us

so we wanted to do something for them.

-TONY:

-Aww, that's lovely.

In just a few short days, the girls have produced a space classic

and Mum and Dad are bowled over.

-DONNA:

-Very good.

I thought that was amazing, you guys. That was fantastic.

That was really good.

The bit that scares me is at the end, you shoot a load of aliens.

-Yes.

-So I better get out of here.

Mum and Dad definitely seem like happy astronauts.

-ALL:

And the girls aren't finished yet.

Time to see the 1.5m-high wedding cake.

-ALL:

It's just massive and so creative

and I like all the little aliens coming out of it.

Aw. Looks like the bride and groom have really fallen for each other.

space ice cream sent all the way from Nasa's Kennedy Space Center.

-That's really nice.

The guests are enjoying that unusual treat

but they'll probably wish they hadn't eaten quite so much when

they see Molly and Katie's final bit of space-tastic entertainment.

-TONY:

So how do our wedding planners feel now that they're coming

I think our mum and dad felt like it was really good and amazing

and that we worked hard on it and just being really proud of us.

It feels really good knowing that our mum

and dad are finally married because...

Like, they've been wanting to do it for so long.
