Today on Meet The Kittens, we're trying to find them!

Their mums, sisters Coco and Cleo, have hidden them

somewhere in the house! Where can they be?

Oh! There they are.

But why have they moved?

DRAMATIC MUSIC

Well, yesterday, the mums could sense a dog was nearby!

DOG PANTS

Dogs and cats don't always get on.

Sometimes dogs chase cats,

so that's why Coco and Cleo have moved the kittens downstairs.

After all that, the dog just went away. Phew!

BOING! BOING!

They're still little bundles of fur who can't see or hear,

so Cleo is on mum duty, feeding them and looking after them.

But where's their other mum, Coco?

Oh, there she is! Having a break from looking after all those kittens.

"Oh, I wonder when Coco will come back and give me some help.

"I need to stretch my legs."

Because the two mums are sharing looking after the kittens,

it means they each get turns outside.

"Eh, this Mummy business is right thirsty work!"

"I'm thirsty, too, Coco.

"Oh, I love the bones of them,

"and it's more important to make sure they're fed before I go outside."

-KITTEN VOICES:

-Yum, yum, yum! Yum, yum, yum!

Yum, yum, yum!

Yummy!

SLIDE WHISTLE

The kittens have had their milk and are asleep.

So, Cleo comes outside for a breath of fresh air.

"Lovely day."

"Oh, nice to get outside for a moment."

But before Cleo has time to catch her breath,

Coco is wanting to play games!

"Ha! Got ya." "Oh! Leave me alone, Coco."

"What? Don't you want to play?"

"Not now. You need to get back to them babies."

"OK. Back to our babies."

"Oh, look at them! All asleep.

"Oh, I hope they stay that way."

-KITTEN VOICE:

-Purrrrrr.

"Gives me time for a wash."

"And that's exactly what I'm doing

"while I have my break in the sunshine."

Cats are very, very clean animals, and they wash as often as they can.

Washing cleans dirt from their fur, clears away any tangled bits

and also gives a lovely shine to their coats.

It also helps them keep cool in the hot sunshine.

Now, some of our kittens have woken up, and they want Coco's milk.

Because the kittens' eyes are still closed, they have to use their sense

of smell to find where the milk is, and they're as thirsty as their mums.

-KITTEN VOICE:

-Yum, yum, yum, yum.

Yum, yum, yum.

Yum, yum, yum.

With their tummies full of milk,

everybody can have another good sleep.

Afterwards, Coco and Cleo have a big meal.

Both mums are eating more

because they have to produce milk for the kittens.

They're allowed meaty chunks, but the kittens must only have milk

until they're a bit older.

BOING! BOING!

The next morning, something wonderful happens!

The kittens open their eyes for the very first time.

"Meow! I can see with only one eye open!"

"Oh, what's this wonderful world? It's all blurry."

"I need a big stretch, then I want to see my brothers and sisters!"

KITTENS MEOW

"Oh, OK. Now I can see something bright and blue."

"Oh, Mummy!

"I can see your tummy! Oh! I forgot, my legs don't work!"

Cleo comes in to have a look.

"Oh, bless their little paws, they can see now."

Yes, Cleo, they're starting to grow!

But even though the kittens can now see some things,

they still can't hear, because their ears are still closed...

-KITTEN VOICE:

-Oof!

..and they certainly can't walk yet.

"Ah, I wish my ears would unfold, so I could hear Mum purring."

"And I wish I could walk, but it's very hard to move around like this!"

The kittens also need constant washing and cleaning.

They don't know how to go to the toilet yet.

Coco and Cleo wash them, and this helps them to wee.

That's what mothers do, feed them, wash them, clean them.

But hang on, you two. Don't they look beautiful?

"Oh, of course they do!"

"They're our children!"

It's been an exciting day.

The kittens have seen the world around them for the first time.

Time for cuddles and sleep.

By cuddling, everyone stays warm, which is very

important for baby kittens, because they mustn't get cold and sick.
