Episode 3 Meet the Pups

PUPS YAP

The pups are not one, not two, but three weeks old.

Their eyes are open,

and their tummies are full of mum Lola's milk.

Their dad Morgan is watching from his comfy chair -

and it's a hectic schedule for the dogs' owners,

caring for all five dogs, sometimes late into the night.

But now comes the next big step for the pups -

trying to walk.

Who will be the first to try?

Oh, it's Bonzo! Come on, Bonzo.

-LOLA:

-Oh, go on, Bonzo. Go, Bonzo. Go on, Bonzo!

Yeah. I done it.

Oh - you did it. Well done.

Bonzo's up again, although this time

I'm not sure if he's trying to walk, or trying to dance!

He just can't resist the beat.

Go, Bonzo! Dance around.

We all like dancing, don't we?

Hey! Where are you two going all of a sudden?

Bonzo's party has just started.

Oh - food. I see.

I don't think those freshly baked scones are for you two.

I'm sure if I stare at them for long enough, they'll fly into my mouth.

Come on, Lola. Concentrate. We can do this together.

I wish... I wish...

I wish for a scone!

Oh, I'm sure I've got the power. Come to Papa, you lovely scones.

Hey. Listen, you two. Some human foods can't be given to dogs.

It's not good for you. That's why you have your own food.

Oh...

Meanwhile, back in the box, the pups are being weaned.

Which means they don't need just Lola's milk,

they can start to get their own solid food.

Just a handful at a time,

but up to seven times a day.

Will they like it?

I think that's a yes!

Och! Look at all this mess.

Well, I suppose I'D better clean it up.

Ah, yes. That's right, Lola. I thought you might do that.

The pups are getting a visit from the neighbours.

This is to help the pups become used to meeting people, like you and me.

Yes. It's visitors!

THAT'S who the scones are for.

Oh, I love visitors, because they always drop crumbs!

Before they're allowed to see the pups, the children have to

take off their shoes, and clean their hands with a special gel.

This stops the visitors passing on harmful germs to the pups.

Lola and Morgan escort the visitors to the pup pen,

watching them carefully.

Have they had the scones yet?

Morgan! They've come to see our pups.

Whassup?

It's really important to hold a puppy carefully.

First, put one hand under its back legs, like this...

then put your other hand under the front legs.

But don't just pick him up by his front legs, as that will hurt him.

And be careful not to shake him. He's still a baby.

Just gentle strokes.

-How do you like that, Bonzo?

-She smells funny.

-I suppose we all smell funny to dogs.

-I like funny.

Biscuit is next to be picked up.

Enjoying that, Biscuit?

She's playing me like a guitar!

How about you, Bonzo?

Do you like us humans?

HE YAWNS She makes me sleepy.

While the humans are holding the pups,

Lola and Morgan are taking a break and having a nice lunch.

But Morgan has suddenly remembered something.

Scone! Scone! Scone, scone, scones! Scones!
