Episode 5 Meet the Pups

This time on Meet The Pups,

Bonzo, Biscuit and Betsy are not four, not five, but six weeks old.

They are excited by everything.

But I wonder what they will think about their new bed?

Bonzo is the first to have a look at this new thing.

"What's that?"

Mum, Lola, watches and then the others join in.

But no-one knows what this new thing is.

"Oh, dear, what are they like?

"Oh, I don't know."

Looks like they haven't quite worked out

that you're supposed to sleep in the bed, not next to it!

Lola is letting her pups learn things about one another.

They're only pretending to fight, as lots of young animals do.

They learn how strong they are and who's best.

But what will their dad, Morgan, think?

He's allowed into the pup pen for the first time,

but the owners will be keeping a keen eye on him.

Morgan has seen that Bonzo has stolen his favourite squeaky toy.

"Morgan, now play nicely, won't you?"

Morgan has taken the toy back and is teasing Bonzo with it.

Is he teaching his son a lesson?

"Oh, Dad, come on! No fair, Dad!"

"Right, you can have it,

"but don't take it again without asking."

"OK! It's squeak-elicious!"

"You can play with it for as long as you like,

"but always ask first, all right?" "OK. Thanks, Dad."

"Morgan, what are you two doing in there?"

"Nothing, darling, just teaching Bonzo some good manners.

"Bye, son. Hope you learnt a lesson there." "Yes, Dad."

"Oh! Oh, look, where did that come from?

"Mum, Dad has got my ball again!"

"I think someone needs to go

"and take a long, hard look at themselves in the mirror.

"No, Bonzo, I meant your dad."

Morning, time to rise up singing, or if you're a dog, sniffing!

What's up, Lola?

"Oh, the lovely smell of toilet.

"Oh, we dogs love that smell.

"Got to go, I can smell bacon!"

Did you know that a dog's nose can smell things

from a long, long way away?

Because smell is their strongest sense,

they can smell things better than they can see or hear them.

And there are lots of different smells in the kitchen.

The different smells are driving the pups wild,

so they're being very naughty and playing with everything!

WOOF!

WOOF!

WOOF!

Biscuit is teasing her daddy, Morgan.

Morgan, what are you going to do?

"Tell Biscuit off for being naughty and not asking properly!"

Biscuit is learning to be good,

and when she rolls over and exposes her tummy and throat,

she's saying, "I understand, Dad, I was being cheeky."

"This is how we dogs learn - by playing."

"I need to have a wee!"

"Oh, that's all right, we dogs can't use a potty."

At last, Betsy has worked out what the bed is for!

Let's hope the other two do when they stop playing.

Owning and looking after any pet is a big responsibility.
