Episode 7 Meet the Pups

WOOF!

WOOF! WOOF!

This is the owners' garden, which the pups have never seen.

At seven weeks old,

they are ready to go outside for the very first time.

Here come the neighbours, who are going to help.

They wash their hands, so they're clean to touch the puppies.

WOOF!

This time, the pups can't wait to meet the neighbours.

They remember them from last time!

Although Morgan is now allowed to play with the pups,

he finds them too much when they're altogether.

To be honest, I think he'd rather play with the humans.

Oh, shall I bring my ball in yet?!

Everything OK?

Oh, we love the human pups!

Oh, they smell pretty!

Come on, let me in!

The humans came to see me, too! Come on!

Playing with the pups is the best way to make them feel safe,

and to learn about being with humans,

who will become their new owners.

It also helps their little bodies to grow up to be strong.

The pups have never seen the garden.

The owners have made it safe - it's got a fence

so the pups can't run away if they get a fright.

Also, it means they won't meet any strange dogs.

But what will they think?

To us, it's a garden.

To the puppies, it's like walking on the moon!

Bonzo is the first to explore. He's not sure what to do.

Biscuit joins him, sniffing this new place.

But they're both scared and they go back inside.

THE PUPPIES WHINE

The sights, sounds, and smells are all new

and a little bit frightening, so Lola shows them the way.

It's Betsy and Bonzo who run out first, following mum Lola.

Biscuit is still not sure.

She wants to be brave, but who knows what's outside?

Is it safe?

Betsy and Bonzo are really starting to enjoy themselves.

Betsy's even doing some flower arranging.

It's mad fun out here!

Oh, it's lovely!

Not wanting to miss out on the fun,

Biscuit takes her first big steps, and they all love it.

WOOF! WOOF!

WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!

THE PUPPY GROWLS

While the pups are outside,

it seems like a good idea to get them used to something else new...

..the collar and the lead.

They need to get used to them for when they go walking in the park.

Bonzo doesn't seem to mind the collar at all.

It's cool!

Biscuit isn't flustered either.

I love blue.

But Betsy isn't sure.

Oh, I wanted one with diamonds.

By putting two fingers behind the collar,

we're making sure it's not too tight, which could choke her.

Uh, it's well itchy!

The pups aren't used to the collars, so they scratch to get comfortable.

Now that the pups are used to wearing their collars,

it's time to try out the lead.

Bonzo thinks it's food, but, no, it's not,

and he's soon walking happily.

Betsy is next. She prefers lying down to walking.

Finally, it's Biscuit.

She also thinks it's something to eat and sits down for a picnic!

This has all been very exciting.

If the pups keep being this brave, they'll soon be walking in the park.

Playing outside has tired everyone out,

but there's one last job for the children before they go home.

The pups need a good brush - another new thing!

All that rolling around has made their fur messy,

and any bits of grass and mud need to be removed,

especially from their ears.

I didn't think anything would top playing outside for the pups,

but they love this!

All dogs love being brushed and they get a good night kiss.

Owning and looking after any pet is a big responsibility.
