Episode 9 Meet the Pups

In this episode of Meet the Pups,

this rowdy lot think they're too cool for school.

BARKING

Now they have to learn some lessons because soon

they will be leaving home to join their new human families.

They can't be naughty in their new homes.

They need to learn how to behave like good little dogs.

So let's start.

CLINKING

A bunch of rings are thrown into the cage.

The noise stops the pups immediately.

They learn that the sharp noise means, "Stop what you're doing."

CLINKING

They've learnt their lesson and settle down quietly.

Now, here comes something else new.

You know what it is. But the pups don't. They're scared.

To their sensitive ears the vacuum cleaner must sound like a big

aeroplane landing in the house.

Introducing the pups to noisy things

we use in our home teaches them not to be frightened of new sounds.

"That thing sucks."

Of course it does, Biscuit. That's its job.

Here's another thing to learn. Mixing with other dogs.

Meet Monty.

He's Lola and Morgan's oldest friend.

-WHISPERS:

-And I mean oldest!

"I'm old, but I'm not deaf, you know."

Sorry, Monty.

Because Monty is old and a friend of Lola and Morgan,

we know he is safe to meet the puppies.

But look, Monty is sniffing everything to check

he's safe as well.

-SNIFFING

-"He smells well different."

Bonzo, get your head out from there.

You know it's very rude to climb under someone you've just sniffed.

"He smells like trouble.

"Hello, young pup. You must be Bonzo. I'm Uncle Monty."

"Hello, Uncle Wiffy."

"Just like his dad." "Mum, mum, who is he?"

"Where's he come from?"

"Run along now. Before I have to set on you."

"Come and get us, come on, come on."

What's Biscuit doing?

She's sniffing Monty's bottom.

It's not very nice but all dogs do it when they meet.

It's their way of saying "hello".

"I'm feeling frisky." "Fancy a game of fetch?"

"Fetch. Marvellous. I'll be right there."

"Come on, Monty. You throw, I'll fetch."

"Go ahead, I'm having a lie down."

"Those pups have knocked it out of me."

HE YAWNS

"I don't know where you get the energy."

"Thanks for visiting the pups, Monty."

"I hope that wasn't too much for you."

"Oh, no, they are wonderful kids."

"Have I forgotten anything?" No, cheerio.

"Oh, Monty. Still a top dog after all these years."

Time for the final lesson of the day.

Well, it's not really a lesson, it's more of a treat.

The pups' tiny teeth are coming through,

making their gums a bit sore.

The simple answer - ice cubes.

Made with just pure water, it gives them something cool to chew on.

Hey, Lola, are your teeth coming through?

"Oh, well, that one was melting. No point in wasting it."

The pups have passed today with flying colours.

They're now well

and truly ready for the next huge chapter in their lives,

leaving home.

Bonzo's dressing up for the big occasion. Oh, nice hat, Bonzo!

Biscuit and Betsy don't seem to be that excited to be going.

But next time, we'll be saying goodbye to everyone,

because the pups will meet their new owners,

and we'll have to say goodbye to their mum and dad.

We'll see you then.
