It is in the desert but it's shady and green.

An oasis is a place with its own underground river.

Which means there's enough water for trees and other plants to grow.

And the nicest fruit I've ever tasted grows there. You'll love it!

It's too hot on the ground for the rivers to form,

so rainwater drips down

through small gaps in the rocks, where it's cooler.

The water gathers together

and forms rivers which reach the surface to make an oasis.

So if we find the blockage and clear it, the oasis will fill up again.
