# Mr Maker around the world! #

0:00:400:00:42

Hello! It's making time.

0:00:420:00:44

Get ready for an arty adventure

0:00:440:00:48

around the world!

0:00:480:00:50

Today, we go to South Africa

0:00:510:00:54

to find out how to make spoon maracas in just a minute.

0:00:540:00:58

Cook up your own tasty roast dinner

0:00:580:01:01

as we make a big dinner picture.

0:01:010:01:03

But first, take a trip Down Under

0:01:030:01:06

and discover how to make your own waves at the beach.

0:01:060:01:10

Oh, look! We're on a beautiful beach in Australia.

0:01:130:01:19

Oh, I love it at the beach.

0:01:190:01:21

We've got the sun in the sky,

0:01:210:01:24

the sand at my feet,

0:01:240:01:26

and of course the wavy sea.

0:01:260:01:29

Wait a minute!

0:01:320:01:33

That's just given me a great idea.

0:01:330:01:37

Let's try something.

0:01:370:01:40

Try making a wonderful wave picture.

0:01:400:01:43

It's just like being beside the seaside.

0:01:430:01:46

Let's make it!

0:01:470:01:50

Now, we're going to need a Mini Maker to help us.

0:01:510:01:54

Let's see if there's one nearby.

0:01:540:01:57

Hello, Mini Makers.

0:01:570:01:59

-Who's going to help me today?

-Hello, Mr Maker, I'm Jet.

0:01:590:02:03

Oh, hello, Jet!

0:02:030:02:04

I can help you.

0:02:040:02:06

Oh, that's fantastic news!

0:02:060:02:08

Everyone else, thank you very much. We'll see you soon.

0:02:080:02:11

Jet, let's get making! Ha-ha!

0:02:110:02:14

Right, Jet is on his way,

0:02:140:02:17

but first, we'll need somewhere to make it.

0:02:170:02:21

Oh, fantastic, the marvellous Maker case

0:02:260:02:30

has become a marvellous making table.

0:02:300:02:33

Now we just need some arty things to make our picture.

0:02:330:02:37

We'll need some coloured paper and card...

0:02:370:02:40

..some paint...

0:02:440:02:46

..some scissors and a pen...

0:02:480:02:51

..a glue stick...

0:02:530:02:55

and we'll also need a banana.

0:02:550:02:59

A banana? We don't need a ban...

0:03:010:03:05

Scraps, how did you get here?

0:03:050:03:08

We don't need a banana. But we do need some stickers.

0:03:090:03:13

So, take the banana back, please.

0:03:130:03:15

There we go. Can you find some stickers?

0:03:150:03:17

Oh, well done, Scraps.

0:03:170:03:20

Brilliant job, thank you very much.

0:03:200:03:22

We've got some stickers.

0:03:220:03:25

There, we've got everything we need,

0:03:270:03:30

but...it still feels like something's missing.

0:03:300:03:34

Do you know what it is?

0:03:340:03:35

Here I am, Mr Maker.

0:03:380:03:40

Of course - Jet!

0:03:400:03:42

Brilliant, you're here! Thank you so much for coming.

0:03:420:03:45

You're just in time to help us make our picture.

0:03:450:03:49

It's a wonderful wave with a family of fantastic fish.

0:03:490:03:54

-Are you ready, Jet?

-Yes!

-Good.

0:03:540:03:56

Are you ready?

0:03:560:03:58

Fantastic! Let's get making.

0:03:580:04:01

Now, to start off, Jet, we're going to need some paper, like this,

0:04:010:04:05

and we'll also need to make some paint splodges.

0:04:050:04:08

Let's start with the dark blue first.

0:04:080:04:11

Now the light blue.

0:04:140:04:16

And now the white.

0:04:180:04:20

And once you've finished those three blobs,

0:04:200:04:23

do three more.

0:04:230:04:24

There.

0:04:260:04:27

Now, it's a good idea to make sure that you have a white splodge here,

0:04:270:04:34

which will be the crest of your wave.

0:04:340:04:37

Now we need a small piece of card or cardboard.

0:04:370:04:41

Ah, thank you, Jet, lovely.

0:04:410:04:44

Now, we're going to dip this into the paint

0:04:440:04:47

and then spread it into the shape of a wave.

0:04:470:04:50

So that's dip and spread...

0:04:520:04:54

dip and spread.

0:04:540:04:56

Now it's beginning to take shape,

0:05:020:05:05

let's leave our wave over here

0:05:050:05:08

so that it can dry.

0:05:080:05:10

Because it's time to make some fish.

0:05:100:05:13

So, let's move the paint.

0:05:130:05:15

I'll get some card. There we are, my friend,

0:05:150:05:18

you have some orange card and I'll have some red.

0:05:180:05:22

Now, if we draw an egg shape...

0:05:220:05:24

..like that...

0:05:260:05:28

that's the body of the fish.

0:05:280:05:30

Then we can draw a little tail at the end.

0:05:300:05:32

That's it. You can draw as many fish as you like.

0:05:370:05:40

When you've drawn all your fish, cut them out.

0:05:460:05:50

But be careful, because scissors are...

0:05:500:05:52

-Sharp.

-That's right.

0:05:520:05:54

GROWLING

0:05:540:05:56

Great drawing. Well done, Jet.

0:05:560:05:58

Now, we've got all our cut-out fish

0:06:030:06:05

and we've used stickers for eyes

0:06:050:06:08

and added extra details with a black pen.

0:06:080:06:11

They look great, don't they? Our fish are ready.

0:06:110:06:14

Let's move them over here, because now we can bring in our dry wave...

0:06:140:06:19

and we're going to arrange our fish

0:06:190:06:22

and stick them on the picture with glue.

0:06:220:06:25

You can help, Jet. Can you grab that glue stick, please?

0:06:250:06:29

And put some glue on the back of our fish.

0:06:290:06:32

Oh, thank you very much.

0:06:340:06:36

Let's put this fish here.

0:06:360:06:38

There we are.

0:06:380:06:39

You can stick down as many fish as you like

0:06:390:06:42

at the top of the wave.

0:06:420:06:44

We did it, Jet!

0:06:450:06:47

It's wonderful wave picture.

0:06:470:06:50

And if you enjoyed that, why not try these other ideas too?

0:06:500:06:54

How about adding a wonderful paper boat

0:06:540:06:58

to your wave picture?

0:06:580:07:00

Or try making a cool surfer

0:07:000:07:03

to ride on your wave.

0:07:030:07:05

Or why not cut out a smiley paper shark

0:07:050:07:08

to swim through your wave?

0:07:080:07:11

Why don't you try one of those pictures today?

0:07:110:07:14

Thank you for your help, Jet.

0:07:140:07:15

BOTH: We made it!

0:07:150:07:17

High five!

0:07:170:07:19

Top work, my friend.

0:07:190:07:21

What a wonderful wavy picture.

0:07:210:07:24

Thanks, Jet. Bye!

0:07:240:07:26

Oh, it's wonderful travelling the world.

0:07:290:07:32

There's so much to see.

0:07:320:07:34

Oh, look, that's Sydney's famous opera house.

0:07:340:07:38

-CREAKING

-Oh...

0:07:380:07:39

What's that noise coming from the marvellous Maker case?

0:07:390:07:44

Can you hear it?

0:07:440:07:45

It's the Shapes!

0:07:450:07:48

They're off on their journey around the world.

0:07:480:07:51

Ahhh!

0:07:530:07:54

I am a shape.

0:07:560:07:58

I am a circle.

0:08:010:08:03

I am a triangle.

0:08:050:08:07

I am a square.

0:08:100:08:12

I am a rectangle.

0:08:150:08:17

I am a shape.

0:08:250:08:27

I am a shape.

0:08:290:08:31

I am a shape.

0:08:340:08:36

I am a shape.

0:08:390:08:40

I am a triangle.

0:08:470:08:50

How many triangles can you see?

0:08:510:08:54

One...

0:08:550:08:57

two...

0:08:570:08:58

three...

0:09:000:09:01

four...

0:09:030:09:04

five.

0:09:050:09:07

Yes, there are five triangles.

0:09:070:09:10

Well done, Shapes, it's time to get back in the marvellous Maker case.

0:09:100:09:15

Whoo!

0:09:150:09:18

Whoa!

0:09:190:09:21

Ho-ho! It's so much fun travelling the world.

0:09:230:09:26

You never know when you'll meet new friends. Hello, you guys.

0:09:260:09:31

-Hello.

-PHONE RINGS

0:09:310:09:32

Oh! The Maker phone's ringing.

0:09:320:09:35

Oh, it's Tocky!

0:09:350:09:38

SQUAWKS

0:09:380:09:40

It's minute-make time in South Africa.

0:09:400:09:43

Oh, thanks, Tocky.

0:09:430:09:44

It's minute-make time!

0:10:120:10:14

CHEERING

0:10:140:10:15

That's right. And today, my friends, we're going to make some music

0:10:150:10:20

by making these spoon maracas.

0:10:200:10:24

And we can make these spoon maracas

0:10:270:10:30

by using these art things.

0:10:300:10:33

We've got some plastic beads,

0:10:330:10:36

plastic containers, or eggs that split into two halves, like this.

0:10:360:10:41

We've got some plastic spoons, sticky tack,

0:10:410:10:44

some colourful stickers and some brightly coloured sticky tape.

0:10:440:10:49

Now, my friends,

0:10:490:10:50

do you think I can make this spoon maraca

0:10:500:10:54

in just one minute?

0:10:540:10:55

ALL: Stop being silly!

0:10:550:10:57

Me, silly? I don't think so.

0:10:570:11:01

But I will have to be...

0:11:010:11:03

very quick. But don't worry,

0:11:030:11:05

I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

0:11:050:11:08

ALL: Yes!

0:11:080:11:10

Are you ready?

0:11:100:11:11

Fantastic. Let's make it in a minute.

0:11:110:11:14

Three, two, one...

0:11:140:11:17

Start the clock!

0:11:170:11:18

First, we put the plastic beans inside the egg.

0:11:180:11:21

We can do it like that.

0:11:210:11:23

Let's close the egg up. There we go.

0:11:230:11:25

Now we get our plastic spoons

0:11:250:11:28

and put sticky tack inside each spoon.

0:11:280:11:30

This will help us stick the spoons

0:11:300:11:33

in the side of the egg.

0:11:330:11:36

There we go. Now we need sticky tape.

0:11:360:11:38

Let's stick this around everything

0:11:380:11:42

to fix it all in place.

0:11:420:11:44

Round and round it goes.

0:11:440:11:46

Where it stops, no-one knows.

0:11:460:11:48

Well, I do, it stops there.

0:11:480:11:50

Let's decorate our spoon maracas

0:11:500:11:52

with our stickers.

0:11:520:11:54

There's one sticker there.

0:11:540:11:56

These are stars,

0:11:560:11:57

but you can use whatever you like.

0:11:570:11:59

There we go, another star.

0:11:590:12:01

And three.

0:12:010:12:03

We've just about got enough time

0:12:030:12:05

to stick on these circles.

0:12:050:12:08

There's two.

0:12:080:12:10

One last sticker onto our spoon maracas!

0:12:100:12:15

Yeah!

0:12:150:12:18

I did it! Just in time.

0:12:180:12:19

But if you have more than a minute, you could try all sorts of ideas.

0:12:190:12:24

How about painting your egg to make a stripy maraca, like this.

0:12:240:12:30

Or why not try making a dotty maraca with wool wound around the handle?

0:12:300:12:35

Or you could even make a chicken maraca

0:12:350:12:37

with a fun foam crest and beak, and pipe-cleaner feet.

0:12:370:12:41

Why don't you try and make it in a minute?

0:12:410:12:44

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:12:440:12:46

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

0:12:460:12:50

Put some beads into an egg and close it.

0:12:500:12:52

Use sticky tack to fix two spoons either side of the egg.

0:12:520:12:57

Wrap sticky tape around it to keep everything in place.

0:12:570:13:00

Decorate your maracas with brightly coloured stickers

0:13:000:13:04

and your spoon maracas are finished.

0:13:040:13:07

Why don't you try and make some spoon maracas in just one minute?

0:13:100:13:14

Make them for you... or all of your friends!

0:13:140:13:17

Spoon maraca party time!

0:13:190:13:22

Thanks, everyone, for being part of another marvellous -

0:13:220:13:26

and this time musical - minute make!

0:13:260:13:28

CHEERING

0:13:280:13:31

Ha-ha! Oh!

0:13:350:13:37

What's this?

0:13:390:13:41

It's a Mini Maker postcard.

0:13:410:13:44

Let's see what we've been sent today.

0:13:450:13:48

Hello, Mr Maker. I am Rafaella.

0:13:480:13:52

I did a friend for you.

0:13:520:13:55

I cut some card

0:13:550:13:57

and stuck it on a stick

0:13:570:13:59

to go round and round.

0:13:590:14:02

I hope you like it, Mr Maker.

0:14:020:14:05

Hello, I'm Michael from Hong Kong

0:14:050:14:08

and I made a car for you.

0:14:080:14:10

At first it was white,

0:14:100:14:13

and then I painted it

0:14:130:14:16

red and yellow and green.

0:14:160:14:20

I hope you like my car, Mr Maker.

0:14:200:14:23

Oh, what fantastic ideas!

0:14:230:14:25

Why don't you try one of them at home?

0:14:250:14:28

-PHONE RINGS

-Oh, excuse me.

0:14:280:14:29

The Maker phone's ringing.

0:14:290:14:32

Oh, some Mini Makers are calling.

0:14:320:14:35

Hello, my name is Shanice from the UK and these are my friends.

0:14:350:14:40

Hello, Mini Makers.

0:14:400:14:42

Can you help us make a picture?

0:14:420:14:44

Oh, I'd love to. I'll be with you for a high five in...

0:14:440:14:48

five...

0:14:480:14:50

four...

0:14:500:14:51

CHILDREN: Three...

0:14:520:14:54

two...

0:14:540:14:57

one...

0:14:570:14:59

We're in the UK.

0:14:590:15:01

I made it! I told you I would. Right, high five!

0:15:010:15:05

-What picture would you like to make?

-Roast dinner.

0:15:070:15:11

Roast dinner!

0:15:110:15:12

Oh, that's making me hungry, what a great idea!

0:15:120:15:15

-What's going to be in our picture?

-Chicken.

0:15:150:15:18

Great idea, Rebecca. Chicken.

0:15:180:15:20

-Peas.

-Peas. Good idea, Mitchell.

0:15:200:15:22

What else?

0:15:220:15:24

We can have carrots.

0:15:240:15:25

Oh, lots of vegetables, sounds nice.

0:15:250:15:28

-I think we're ready, aren't we?

-ALL: Yes!

0:15:280:15:32

Let's make it together.

0:15:320:15:35

I'm making a potato.

0:15:350:15:37

We're pouring gravy.

0:15:370:15:40

These are the carrots.

0:15:430:15:45

And these are going to be...

0:15:470:15:49

Peas!

0:15:490:15:51

This is our plate.

0:15:510:15:52

La-la-la-la, Mr Maker.

0:15:520:15:56

And this will be a nice, colourful background.

0:15:560:16:00

Oh, that's it. Well done, Mini Makers.

0:16:070:16:10

We're having a great time making our big picture.

0:16:100:16:14

And that has just given me an idea.

0:16:140:16:16

Why don't you make something too?

0:16:160:16:18

Try making this tasty-looking roast dinner

0:16:180:16:22

that looks almost good enough to eat.

0:16:220:16:24

You will need...

0:16:240:16:26

kitchen foil and different-coloured pieces of tissue paper,

0:16:260:16:30

gloopy glue and a brush,

0:16:300:16:32

paint and a paper plate.

0:16:320:16:34

First, take some kitchen foil

0:16:350:16:37

and mould it into potato-shaped balls, like this.

0:16:370:16:41

Then, for the Yorkshire pudding,

0:16:420:16:45

scrunch the foil into a small ball shape.

To make the chicken,

0:16:510:16:53

crush the foil into a bone shape.

0:16:530:16:56

Then, make another ball shape

0:16:560:16:58

and squeeze them together to make it look like a chicken leg.

0:16:580:17:01

Scrunch some long foil sticks for carrots.

0:17:040:17:07

Use smaller pieces for Brussels sprouts.

0:17:070:17:10

Next, to make your foil pieces look like food,

0:17:130:17:16

cover them in gloopy glue and different colour tissue paper.

0:17:160:17:20

When everything is finished, leave it to dry like this.

0:17:210:17:25

Arrange your food onto a paper plate.

0:17:260:17:29

Take some gloopy glue and add a big squeeze of brown paint,

0:17:330:17:38

then give it a good stir.

0:17:380:17:40

Pour the mixture all over the food to look like gravy.

0:17:420:17:46

It will also stick everything down.

0:17:460:17:49

Then leave it to dry.

0:17:490:17:51

Your brilliant roast dinner is finished.

0:17:510:17:54

It looks delicious, just make sure nobody eats it.

0:17:540:17:58

I really like that idea.

0:17:580:17:59

Why don't you try it?

0:17:590:18:01

But right now...

0:18:010:18:03

I can smell a big roast dinner.

0:18:030:18:05

Carrots, please.

0:18:100:18:11

Well done, everyone.

0:18:170:18:19

ALL: We made it together!

0:18:190:18:22

That's what I call a monster-sized meal.

0:18:270:18:31

Yum, yum, yum!

0:18:310:18:32

Wow, we've seen some incredible sights, haven't we?

0:18:320:18:36

Remember, wherever you are in the world, keep making!

0:18:360:18:39

0:18:410:18:42

0:18:430:18:44

Time to go! Time to go!

0:18:450:18:48

Thanks, Tocky, I'll be home soon.

0:18:480:18:51

That's it for now, my making time's over -

0:18:510:18:54

but yours is just beginning.

0:18:540:18:57

It's time to put the marvellous Maker case back in its box!
