Hello. It's making time.

Get ready for an arty adventure around the world.

Today we go to Australia to show you how to make a joke ice lolly

-in under a minute.

Find out how to create your own crown fit for a king or

queen as we make lots of treasure.

First it's time to go wild and make a South African lizard picture.

Wow! Let's have a look where we are. We're in South Africa.

How exciting! Let's see if we can make some new animal friends.

South Africa has so many wild animals.

Lions, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and this is one of my favourites.

It's a lovely lizard. I think I'll call him Larry. Larry the lizard.

Hello, Larry. Larry has just given me an idea. Let's try something.

Try making this fantastic looking lizard using

bubble wrap for a really great effect.

We'll need a Mini Maker to help us. Let's see if there's one nearby.

-I'm Prince.

-Hello, Prince.

Prince is on his way to help make our picture.

First, we'll need somewhere to make it.

Excellent.

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous making table.

Now we just need some arty things to make our picture.

We'll need...

..some paper or card. Some paint.

Some round things to draw around.

A glue stick, some scissors and some stickers.

Paintbrushes.

Bubble wrap.

And of course, last but not least, we'll also need a biscuit...

A biscuit? And a half-eaten biscuit. We don't need this.

Scraps, it's you. What are you doing here?

Oh, really? Take this biscuit back and see if you can find a pen.

Off you go. He's gone.

Excellent. We've got everything we need.

It does feel like something is missing.

Do you know what it is? I don't. Uh...

-Of course. Prince, it's you, my friend.

It's lovely to see you. Thank you so much for coming.

You're just in time to help me make our picture.

It's a dotty bubble wrap lizard.

Prince, this can get a little bit messy.

It's a good idea to put down some old paper or newspaper first.

I think we should put on some aprons. Follow me, my friend.

-We look excellent. Are you ready?

-Yes.

-Excellent.

Are you ready? Fantastic.

Let's get making.

Prince, you will have noticed that our picture has lots of colourful

dots on it, and to make them, we're going to use this stuff.

Bubble wrap.

It's covered in bubbles because it's used for protecting things.

Ask an adult to help you find some.

I think you could do some painting for me, Prince.

Let me put this in front of you. Hold on to that.

You're going to paint on this bobbly side. OK, get painting.

Good work, Prince.

Make sure all the bubble wrap is covered in bright green paint.

I think bright green dots will look really good on this lovely

yellow paper. I'm going to take the bubble wrap...

Thank you, Prince. ..and place it on top of the paper.

Push down. If we peel away, what do you think we're going to get?

Dots.

A lot of dots, like this.

Keep printing to make dotty prints in other colours

and leave them to dry.

Now it's time for us to draw whatever is in our picture.

There's a dotty lizard and dotty circles.

Prince, let me find you something round, like this sticky tape.

Why don't you make some circles?

This will be the lizard.

It looks really good if you draw different

parts of your picture on to different colours of printed paper.

We've got lots of colourful dotty circles.

We've got some lizard legs and a lizard's body.

We need to cut these shapes out but we must be careful

because scissors are...

-Sharp.

-That's right.

All of our shapes are cut out. Let's put everything in its place.

When you're happy with your picture, glue everything into place.

We've added lizard eyes using stickers and a black pen

and trimmed off all the edges of the circles to make the picture neat.

It's the part of the show where we make something in...

..just one minute. Wait a minute.

Look. Ice lollies.

On a hot day like this, I want one. That's a good thing, actually.

Because today, we are going to make this.

It's a joke ice lolly and it never melts.

To make one, we'll need these arty things. Let's have a look.

We've got some paint, some scissors, a glue stick, a lolly stick,

a washing-up sponge and some colourful beads.

This can get very messy. We are going to make this on an old tray.

It's also a good idea to put down some old paper or newspaper first.

Do you think it's possible

to make this joke ice lolly in just one minute?

CHILDREN: Never.

I think I can. I'll have to be very quick.

Don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

CHILDREN: Yes!

Are you ready? Fantastic. Let's make it in a minute.

-CHILDREN: Three, two, one.

-Start the clock.

The first thing we do is get our washing-up sponge and scissors

and we're going to carefully make a snip in the top.

We need to be careful with scissors because they are...

CHILDREN: Sharp!

Let's get some glue on the end of our lolly stick.

We are going to push it inside the washing-up sponge.

It always looks like a lolly.

Let's put it there and we're going to bring in our lovely paint.

We're going to dip the sponge into the paint like that.

-Do you see that, everyone?

-Yes!

-It looks like a lolly already.

I'm going to hold that very carefully.

Just sprinkle them all over. This is quite messy.

It's a good idea to clear up afterwards, Mums and Dads.

Sprinkle, sprinkle and we have got a beautiful joke

ice lolly that never melts.

Just in time.

If you've got more than a minute, you could try all sorts of ideas.

How about making a stripy lolly with chocolate sprinkles?

Or you could try this mint choc chip lolly with sprinkles and beads.

You could even try making a lolly with a bite taken out of it.

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Carefully cut a hole in the bottom of a washing-up sponge,

glue a lolly stick into the hole. Dip the sponge into paint.

Cover it with colourful sprinkles. Your joke lolly is finished.

We are in the UK. I made it. I told you I would. High-fives.

-That's the stuff. What picture would you like to make?

-Treasure picture!

A treasure picture, eh? What sort of treasure are we going to have?

-Lots of money.

-Money. Lots of money, Mairi.

-What else do we need?

-A crown.

-A crown. What does a crown look like?

-With diamonds on.

It sounds like our treasure's going to look like the Crown Jewels.

-Are you ready?

-Yes.

-Let's make it together.

-CHILDREN: We're making a crown.

THEY GIGGLE

This is the money.

And we'll need a nice bright background.

We are having a great time making our big picture

and that's just given me an idea.

Why don't you make something, too?

Try making your own royal crown that looks good enough for a king

or queen.

You will need some card strips and sticky tape,

fun fur and stickers, tissue paper and a glue stick.

First, take a long strip of card that will

fit around your head like this.

Then glue fun fur along the bottom of it.

Now bend the two ends into a circle and tape them

together to make the base of a crown.

Take a thinner strip of card and tape it

inside the crown space at both ends to make an arch shape.

Now take another strip that's the same size

and shape and fold it in half.

Stick tape around the fold like this.

Open it out and tape the ends inside the crown.

Then secure the fold to the top of the crown with tape.

Next, take some colour tissue paper and scrunch it up.

Open it out and tape it inside the crown.

Decorate your crown with stickers and it's finished.

Ready to wear to a party or for fancy dress.

I really like that idea. Why don't you try it?
