Hello. It's making time.

0:00:430:00:45

Get ready for an arty adventure around the world.

0:00:450:00:50

Today we go to Australia to show you how to make a joke ice lolly

0:00:510:00:55

-in under a minute.

-CHEERING

0:00:550:00:58

Find out how to create your own crown fit for a king or

0:00:580:01:02

queen as we make lots of treasure.

0:01:020:01:05

First it's time to go wild and make a South African lizard picture.

0:01:050:01:09

Wow! Let's have a look where we are. We're in South Africa.

0:01:120:01:19

How exciting! Let's see if we can make some new animal friends.

0:01:190:01:24

South Africa has so many wild animals.

0:01:260:01:28

Lions, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and this is one of my favourites.

0:01:280:01:36

It's a lovely lizard. I think I'll call him Larry. Larry the lizard.

0:01:360:01:41

Hello, Larry. Larry has just given me an idea. Let's try something.

0:01:410:01:48

Try making this fantastic looking lizard using

0:01:480:01:51

bubble wrap for a really great effect.

0:01:510:01:54

Let's make it. Bye, Larry.

0:01:550:01:58

We'll need a Mini Maker to help us. Let's see if there's one nearby.

0:02:000:02:05

-Hello, Mini Makers. Who's going to help me today?

-Hi, Mister Maker.

0:02:050:02:10

-I'm Prince.

-Hello, Prince.

-I can help you.

-That's good news.

0:02:100:02:16

Everyone else, thank you very much. Fantastic.

0:02:160:02:20

Prince is on his way to help make our picture.

0:02:200:02:24

First, we'll need somewhere to make it.

0:02:240:02:26

Excellent.

0:02:320:02:33

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous making table.

0:02:330:02:37

Now we just need some arty things to make our picture.

0:02:370:02:40

We'll need...

0:02:400:02:42

..some paper or card. Some paint.

0:02:430:02:51

Some round things to draw around.

0:02:550:02:58

A glue stick, some scissors and some stickers.

0:03:030:03:07

Paintbrushes.

0:03:090:03:13

Bubble wrap.

0:03:150:03:19

And of course, last but not least, we'll also need a biscuit...

0:03:190:03:23

A biscuit? And a half-eaten biscuit. We don't need this.

0:03:260:03:29

Scraps, it's you. What are you doing here?

0:03:290:03:32

SCRAPS MUMBLES

0:03:320:03:35

Oh, really? Take this biscuit back and see if you can find a pen.

0:03:350:03:40

Off you go. He's gone.

0:03:400:03:42

Here we go. Well done, Scraps. That's just what we need. Thank you.

0:03:440:03:48

Bye.

0:03:480:03:50

We've got a pen.

0:03:520:03:54

Excellent. We've got everything we need.

0:03:550:04:00

It does feel like something is missing.

0:04:000:04:04

Do you know what it is? I don't. Uh...

0:04:040:04:09

-Hi, Mister Maker.

-Of course. Prince, it's you, my friend.

0:04:100:04:16

It's lovely to see you. Thank you so much for coming.

0:04:160:04:19

You're just in time to help me make our picture.

0:04:190:04:23

It's a dotty bubble wrap lizard.

0:04:230:04:26

Prince, this can get a little bit messy.

0:04:260:04:29

It's a good idea to put down some old paper or newspaper first.

0:04:290:04:34

I think we should put on some aprons. Follow me, my friend.

0:04:340:04:37

-We look excellent. Are you ready?

-Yes.

-Excellent.

0:04:390:04:44

Are you ready? Fantastic.

0:04:440:04:47

Let's get making.

0:04:470:04:49

Prince, you will have noticed that our picture has lots of colourful

0:04:490:04:53

dots on it, and to make them, we're going to use this stuff.

0:04:530:04:57

Bubble wrap.

0:04:570:04:58

It's covered in bubbles because it's used for protecting things.

0:04:580:05:02

Ask an adult to help you find some.

0:05:020:05:05

I think you could do some painting for me, Prince.

0:05:050:05:07

Let me put this in front of you. Hold on to that.

0:05:070:05:10

You're going to paint on this bobbly side. OK, get painting.

0:05:100:05:16

Good work, Prince.

0:05:200:05:22

Make sure all the bubble wrap is covered in bright green paint.

0:05:220:05:27

I think bright green dots will look really good on this lovely

0:05:310:05:36

yellow paper. I'm going to take the bubble wrap...

0:05:360:05:42

Thank you, Prince. ..and place it on top of the paper.

0:05:420:05:46

Push down. If we peel away, what do you think we're going to get?

0:05:480:05:53

Dots.

0:05:530:05:54

A lot of dots, like this.

0:05:540:05:57

Keep printing to make dotty prints in other colours

0:05:570:06:00

and leave them to dry.

0:06:000:06:03

Now it's time for us to draw whatever is in our picture.

0:06:030:06:07

There's a dotty lizard and dotty circles.

0:06:070:06:11

Prince, let me find you something round, like this sticky tape.

0:06:110:06:15

Why don't you make some circles?

0:06:150:06:17

This will be the lizard.

0:06:220:06:25

It looks really good if you draw different

0:06:250:06:27

parts of your picture on to different colours of printed paper.

0:06:270:06:31

We've got lots of colourful dotty circles.

0:06:330:06:37

We've got some lizard legs and a lizard's body.

0:06:370:06:41

We need to cut these shapes out but we must be careful

0:06:410:06:45

because scissors are...

0:06:450:06:47

-Sharp.

-That's right.

0:06:470:06:49

All of our shapes are cut out. Let's put everything in its place.

0:06:550:07:01

When you're happy with your picture, glue everything into place.

0:07:050:07:09

We've added lizard eyes using stickers and a black pen

0:07:110:07:15

and trimmed off all the edges of the circles to make the picture neat.

0:07:150:07:19

If you enjoyed that bubble wrap fun, why not try these other ideas too?

0:07:190:07:23

How about this lovely ladybird with giant bubble wrap dots

0:07:230:07:29

and a pink sticker smile?

0:07:290:07:31

Or you could even try a spotty dog with a red and yellow collar

0:07:310:07:34

and bright dotty flowers.

0:07:340:07:37

Why don't you try one of those ideas today?

0:07:370:07:40

-Thank you so much for helping me, Prince.

-BOTH: We made it.

-High-five.

0:07:400:07:46

What a brilliant bubbly lizard! Well done, Prince. Bye.

0:07:460:07:51

I love travelling the world. You get to see some amazing views.

0:07:530:07:56

CLANKING

0:07:560:07:58

What's that noise?

0:07:580:08:00

It sounds like it's coming from the Marvellous Maker Case.

0:08:000:08:04

Can you hear that?

0:08:040:08:06

It's the Shapes. They're off on their journey around the world.

0:08:090:08:12

-SHAPES:

-I am a shape.

0:08:180:08:19

I am a circle.

0:08:220:08:24

I am a triangle.

0:08:270:08:29

I am a square.

0:08:310:08:33

I am a rectangle.

0:08:360:08:39

I am a shape.

0:08:460:08:48

I am a shape.

0:08:510:08:53

I am a shape.

0:08:560:08:58

I am a shape.

0:09:010:09:02

I am a rectangle.

0:09:090:09:11

How many rectangles can you see?

0:09:120:09:15

One, two, three,

0:09:150:09:21

four, five.

0:09:210:09:26

That's right. There are five rectangles.

0:09:290:09:33

Well done, Shapes. It's time to get back in the Marvellous Maker Case.

0:09:330:09:38

Wow! What a beautiful country! I love travelling the world.

0:09:460:09:52

-You get to see so many...

-MOBILE RINGS

0:09:520:09:55

The Maker Phone is ringing. Excuse me.

0:09:560:09:59

-It's Tocky. Hello.

-It's minute-make time...in Australia.

0:09:590:10:05

I'm on my way. Here we go.

0:10:050:10:09

-It's minute-make time.

-CHEERING

0:10:290:10:33

It's the part of the show where we make something in...

0:10:330:10:36

..just one minute. Wait a minute.

0:10:380:10:42

Look. Ice lollies.

0:10:420:10:46

On a hot day like this, I want one. That's a good thing, actually.

0:10:460:10:52

Because today, we are going to make this.

0:10:520:10:55

It's a joke ice lolly and it never melts.

0:10:550:10:59

To make one, we'll need these arty things. Let's have a look.

0:10:590:11:03

We've got some paint, some scissors, a glue stick, a lolly stick,

0:11:030:11:10

a washing-up sponge and some colourful beads.

0:11:100:11:15

This can get very messy. We are going to make this on an old tray.

0:11:150:11:20

It's also a good idea to put down some old paper or newspaper first.

0:11:200:11:25

Do you think it's possible

0:11:250:11:27

to make this joke ice lolly in just one minute?

0:11:270:11:31

CHILDREN: Never.

0:11:310:11:33

I think I can. I'll have to be very quick.

0:11:330:11:36

Don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

0:11:360:11:41

CHILDREN: Yes!

0:11:410:11:43

Are you ready? Fantastic. Let's make it in a minute.

0:11:430:11:47

-CHILDREN: Three, two, one.

-Start the clock.

0:11:470:11:50

The first thing we do is get our washing-up sponge and scissors

0:11:500:11:53

and we're going to carefully make a snip in the top.

0:11:530:11:56

We need to be careful with scissors because they are...

0:11:560:12:00

CHILDREN: Sharp!

0:12:000:12:02

Let's get some glue on the end of our lolly stick.

0:12:020:12:07

We are going to push it inside the washing-up sponge.

0:12:070:12:11

It always looks like a lolly.

0:12:110:12:13

Let's put it there and we're going to bring in our lovely paint.

0:12:140:12:19

We're going to dip the sponge into the paint like that.

0:12:190:12:24

-Do you see that, everyone?

-Yes!

-It looks like a lolly already.

0:12:240:12:29

I'm going to hold that very carefully.

0:12:290:12:32

Just sprinkle them all over. This is quite messy.

0:12:320:12:36

It's a good idea to clear up afterwards, Mums and Dads.

0:12:360:12:40

Sprinkle, sprinkle and we have got a beautiful joke

0:12:400:12:44

ice lolly that never melts.

0:12:440:12:46

CHEERING

0:12:460:12:50

Just in time.

0:12:500:12:52

If you've got more than a minute, you could try all sorts of ideas.

0:12:520:12:56

How about making a stripy lolly with chocolate sprinkles?

0:12:560:13:01

Or you could try this mint choc chip lolly with sprinkles and beads.

0:13:010:13:06

You could even try making a lolly with a bite taken out of it.

0:13:060:13:11

A joke ice lolly made in just a minute. Why don't you try it?

0:13:120:13:17

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:13:170:13:19

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

0:13:190:13:23

Carefully cut a hole in the bottom of a washing-up sponge,

0:13:230:13:26

glue a lolly stick into the hole. Dip the sponge into paint.

0:13:260:13:33

Cover it with colourful sprinkles. Your joke lolly is finished.

0:13:330:13:38

Why don't you try making it in a minute?

0:13:410:13:44

It's a joke ice lolly that never melts.

0:13:440:13:46

Everybody, thank you

0:13:460:13:48

so much for being part of another marvellous minute-make.

0:13:480:13:52

CHEERING

0:13:520:13:54

What's this? It's a Mini Maker postcard.

0:13:580:14:05

-Let's see what we've been sent today.

-Hello, Mister Maker.

0:14:050:14:09

I am Barbara from Brazil. I did this picture for you.

0:14:090:14:14

It's a picture of a tree. I made some grass and clouds in the sky.

0:14:140:14:22

Thank you for looking at my picture, Mister maker.

0:14:220:14:27

Hi, I live in Hong Kong. This is my monster.

0:14:270:14:34

I painted my monster red. I painted the eyes white and black.

0:14:340:14:40

-Mister Maker, my monster's name is Big Red.

-What lovely ideas!

0:14:410:14:47

-Why don't you try some of those today?

-MOBILE RINGS

0:14:470:14:51

The Maker Phone is ringing. Excuse me. Some Mini Makers are calling.

0:14:510:14:57

Hello, I'm Mairi from the UK and these are my friends.

0:14:580:15:02

-Can you help us make a picture?

-What a lovely idea!

0:15:020:15:06

I'll see you for a high-five in five, four...

0:15:060:15:11

CHILDREN: ..three, two, one.

0:15:130:15:19

We are in the UK. I made it. I told you I would. High-fives.

0:15:190:15:26

-That's the stuff. What picture would you like to make?

-Treasure picture!

0:15:280:15:34

A treasure picture, eh? What sort of treasure are we going to have?

0:15:340:15:38

-Lots of money.

-Money. Lots of money, Mairi.

0:15:380:15:41

-What else do we need?

-A crown.

0:15:410:15:43

-A crown. What does a crown look like?

-With diamonds on.

0:15:430:15:50

It sounds like our treasure's going to look like the Crown Jewels.

0:15:500:15:53

-Are you ready?

-Yes.

0:15:530:15:55

-Let's make it together.

-CHILDREN: We're making a crown.

0:15:550:16:00

THEY GIGGLE

0:16:040:16:05

This is the money.

0:16:070:16:08

And we'll need a nice bright background.

0:16:130:16:17

We are having a great time making our big picture

0:16:250:16:27

and that's just given me an idea.

0:16:270:16:31

Why don't you make something, too?

0:16:310:16:33

Try making your own royal crown that looks good enough for a king

0:16:330:16:37

or queen.

0:16:370:16:39

You will need some card strips and sticky tape,

0:16:390:16:42

fun fur and stickers, tissue paper and a glue stick.

0:16:420:16:47

First, take a long strip of card that will

0:16:490:16:51

fit around your head like this.

0:16:510:16:53

Then glue fun fur along the bottom of it.

0:16:550:16:58

Now bend the two ends into a circle and tape them

0:17:000:17:04

together to make the base of a crown.

0:17:040:17:07

Take a thinner strip of card and tape it

0:17:070:17:09

inside the crown space at both ends to make an arch shape.

0:17:090:17:14

Now take another strip that's the same size

0:17:180:17:20

and shape and fold it in half.

0:17:200:17:23

Stick tape around the fold like this.

0:17:230:17:28

Open it out and tape the ends inside the crown.

0:17:280:17:32

Then secure the fold to the top of the crown with tape.

0:17:360:17:42

Next, take some colour tissue paper and scrunch it up.

0:17:420:17:46

Open it out and tape it inside the crown.

0:17:460:17:53

Decorate your crown with stickers and it's finished.

0:17:530:18:00

Ready to wear to a party or for fancy dress.

0:18:000:18:04

I really like that idea. Why don't you try it?

0:18:040:18:07

Right now, let's get back to our big picture.

0:18:070:18:10

SCRAPS MUMBLES

0:18:120:18:15

-Well done, everyone. We made it together.

-ALL: Yeah.

0:18:200:18:25

What a fantastic treasure picture! That looks priceless.

0:18:290:18:34

We've seen some incredible sights, haven't we?

0:18:360:18:39

Remember, wherever you are in the world, keep making...

0:18:390:18:42

MOBILE RINGS

0:18:420:18:44

Excuse me. It's Tocky.

0:18:440:18:46

-Time to go. Time to go.

-Thanks, Tocky. I'll be home soon.

0:18:470:18:53

That's it for now. My making time is over but yours is just beginning.

0:18:530:18:59

It's time to put the Marvellous Maker Case back in its box.

0:18:590:19:03
