Hello! It's making time.

Get ready for an arty adventure around the world.

Today, we're off to Hong Kong to make a giant bug picture

and we show you how to make a brilliant bug in a jar.

Find out how to make a paper plate hat in under a minute.

But first, we make some jolly jellyfish Down Under.

Oh, brilliant! We're in Australia!

And look, there's an aquarium. How exciting!

It will be full of lots of creatures that live under the sea.

Let's have a look.

Look! Look at all the jellyfish!

Wibbly and wobbly and wonderful.

And they've just given me a great idea.

Let's try something.

Try making this delightfully drippy jellyfish family.

Let's make it!

Oh, lovely! Now, we'll need a Mini Maker to help us.

Oh, great! Chloe is on her way to help us make our picture.

But first, we need somewhere to make it.

Fantastic!

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a Marvellous Making Table.

Now we can make our picture by using these arty things.

Some paper or card...

..some paint...

..some water...

..some plastic pots...

..some brushes, a pen...

..and last but not least,

my polka-dot pants.

My polka-dot pants? Wait a minute!

Scrappz! How did you get here?

SCRAPPZ SQUEAKS

Oh, dear. We don't need my polka-dot pants at the moment,

but we do need some stickers.

So you take these back.

Oh, well done, Scrappz! Thank you very much.

We've got some stickers.

Great! We should have everything we need.

Except, it feels like something is missing. Hmm.

Do you know what it is?

I'm here, Mister Maker.

Chloe, of course! Well done. Thank you so much for coming.

Now, you're just in time to make our picture, like this one here.

It's a drippy jellyfish family.

Now, this can get a little bit messy, so it's a good idea

to put down some newspaper or some old paper first,

and actually, I think we should put some aprons on,

so you lead the way!

-We look great. Now, Chloe, are you ready?

-Yeah.

Are you ready?

Brilliant! Let's get making.

Now, to start, we're going to make

a very special painty mixture.

Can I have a cup, please? That's it.

Our painty mixture is going to be made up of half paint...

..and half water.

Now we need to take a brush and mix it all together.

Then do the same with your other paint colours.

Now take a splodge of your first colour

and splat it onto a large piece of paper.

That looks good.

And now it's time to do a second splodge in a different colour.

Chloe, why don't you grab the yellow there,

and why don't you do

a yellow splodge about there?

Keep going until you've got a few splodges in different colours.

And you can paint as many jellyfish as you like.

Now for the really exciting part.

While the paint is still wet,

we're going to gently lift up the paper and let the paint drip.

It doesn't matter if the different colours all drip into each other

because that all adds to the effect.

When you're happy, leave it to dry.

And now, we're going to draw around all of the jellyfish

to make sure they really stand out.

And you can even add extra details like a wiggly smile.

-Now, they're missing something, Chloe. What is it?

-Eyes.

That's right! Let's make some jellyfish eyes.

If you grab those stickers,

can you draw some black dots in the middle of those stickers, please?

-Finished!

-Brilliant!

Thank you very much, Chloe.

We've got our eyes,

and now we can stick them on.

We've finished our picture, Chloe.

It's a funny family of drippy jellyfish.

It's Minute Make time, everyone!

Yeah!

And today, we're going to make something that's out of this world.

Beam it down, Tocky.

Beaming down now!

Wow! It's a paper plate hat

and it can turn you into an alien from outer space.

It's brilliant,

and we can make one of these hats using these arty things.

We've got a paper plate,

some scissors,

a pen and some sticky dots.

Now, do you think it's possible to make this paper plate hat

in just one minute?

No way!

Well, I think I can. I'm going to have to be...

very quick, but don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

-Are you ready?

-Yeah!

All right. Are you ready, though?

Brilliant! Let's make it in a minute.

Three, two, one...

Start the clock! The first thing we'll do

is fold the paper plate in half

and then we'll take our scissors

and very carefully cut around

this rounded edge here.

We're not going to cut all the way around.

We're just going to go to about here

and then cut along this section

and that will make

a sort of cut-out smiley face like that.

Let's open up this and we can see

that if we cut along the fold here,

we'll make two antennae for our alien.

Let's push them through.

There we go, there's one

and there's two.

Now, let's get our sticky dots

and we'll put some dots in the middle.

These are going to make

some pupils for the eyes of our alien.

Here comes one sticky dot.

Stick one sticky dot on there

and then another sticky dot on top

and we have made it!

Yeah!

Just in time.

If you've got quite a large head,

you can make more room in your paper plate hat by doing this.

Take your scissors, and very carefully

make a snip here.

That's it, like that.

And then you'll have more room for your hat.

Let's try it on my friend here.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Fold your paper plate in half and cut out a smiley shape like this.

Then cut along the fold

and put the antennae up.

Add black dots to stickers for eyes,

stick them on

and your paper plate hat is finished

and ready to wear.

Hello, Mister Maker. My name is Dean from Hong Kong,

and these are all my friends.

-Hello!

-Can you help us to make a picture?

What a great idea. I'm on my way.

-We're in Hong Kong!

I made it! I told you I would.

High fives, everyone.

What picture would you like to make?

-Bugs.

-Bugs? Oh, I like bugs.

-And what else?

-Flowers.

-Flowers?

-Trees.

-And trees.

-Now, these bugs, what will they look like?

-Spotty.

-Oh, yes.

What sort of colours will they be?

-Red and black.

-Black.

They sound like great ideas, Mini Makers. Let's make it together.

These are going to be the bugs' spots

and antennae.

These will be the flowers.

And we'll need a nice bright background.

Eh-heh!

We're having great fun here

and making our picture has given me an idea.

Why don't you make something at home?

Try making this brilliant bug in a jar that's great fun to play with.

You will need a strip of coloured paper

and two paper circles,

a large clean plastic jar

and some scissors,

some string and a pom-pom,

stickers and a pen,

a glue stick and some sticky tape.

First, carefully cut lots of zigzags

into the coloured paper strip like this.

Next, use stickers to make some flowers.

Add a different coloured sticker

for the centre of the flower

and add as many sticker flowers as you like.

Now, curl the paper around

and place it inside the plastic jar like this.

Take a small piece of string

and glue it to the pom-pom.

And leave it to dry.

Then draw some black dots on two stickers

and stick them onto the pom-pom.

These will be the bug's eyes

and add some more stickers for spots.

Glue two circles of paper to your bug for wings.

And finally, stick the loose end of the string inside the jar lid.

Then screw it on.

Your bug in a jar is finished

and ready to play with.
