Hello! It's making time.

0:00:420:00:45

Get ready for an arty adventure around the world.

0:00:450:00:50

Today, we're off to Hong Kong to make a giant bug picture

0:00:520:00:56

and we show you how to make a brilliant bug in a jar.

0:00:560:01:00

Find out how to make a paper plate hat in under a minute.

0:01:000:01:05

But first, we make some jolly jellyfish Down Under.

0:01:050:01:09

Oh, brilliant! We're in Australia!

0:01:130:01:17

And look, there's an aquarium. How exciting!

0:01:170:01:22

It will be full of lots of creatures that live under the sea.

0:01:220:01:26

Let's have a look.

0:01:260:01:27

Look! Look at all the jellyfish!

0:01:380:01:40

Wibbly and wobbly and wonderful.

0:01:400:01:44

And they've just given me a great idea.

0:01:440:01:48

Let's try something.

0:01:480:01:50

Try making this delightfully drippy jellyfish family.

0:01:500:01:55

Let's make it!

0:01:560:01:58

Oh, lovely! Now, we'll need a Mini Maker to help us.

0:02:000:02:04

Let's see if there's one nearby.

0:02:040:02:07

Hello, Mini Makers.

0:02:070:02:09

Now, who's going to help me today?

0:02:090:02:11

-Hello, Mister Maker. I'm Chloe.

-Oh, hi, Chloe.

0:02:110:02:14

I can help you.

0:02:140:02:16

Fantastic! Thanks, everyone. We'll see you soon.

0:02:160:02:20

Oh, great! Chloe is on her way to help us make our picture.

0:02:200:02:25

But first, we need somewhere to make it.

0:02:250:02:28

Fantastic!

0:02:340:02:36

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a Marvellous Making Table.

0:02:360:02:40

Now we can make our picture by using these arty things.

0:02:400:02:45

Some paper or card...

0:02:450:02:47

..some paint...

0:02:500:02:51

..some water...

0:02:540:02:56

..some plastic pots...

0:02:590:03:01

..some brushes, a pen...

0:03:040:03:06

..and last but not least,

0:03:080:03:10

my polka-dot pants.

0:03:100:03:12

My polka-dot pants? Wait a minute!

0:03:120:03:16

Scrappz! How did you get here?

0:03:160:03:18

SCRAPPZ SQUEAKS

0:03:180:03:20

Oh, dear. We don't need my polka-dot pants at the moment,

0:03:200:03:24

but we do need some stickers.

0:03:240:03:27

So you take these back.

0:03:270:03:29

Oh, well done, Scrappz! Thank you very much.

0:03:300:03:34

We've got some stickers.

0:03:360:03:38

Great! We should have everything we need.

0:03:400:03:44

Except, it feels like something is missing. Hmm.

0:03:440:03:48

Do you know what it is?

0:03:480:03:49

I'm here, Mister Maker.

0:03:510:03:53

Chloe, of course! Well done. Thank you so much for coming.

0:03:530:03:57

Now, you're just in time to make our picture, like this one here.

0:03:570:04:02

It's a drippy jellyfish family.

0:04:020:04:06

Now, this can get a little bit messy, so it's a good idea

0:04:060:04:10

to put down some newspaper or some old paper first,

0:04:100:04:14

and actually, I think we should put some aprons on,

0:04:140:04:17

so you lead the way!

0:04:170:04:19

-We look great. Now, Chloe, are you ready?

-Yeah.

0:04:200:04:24

Are you ready?

0:04:240:04:26

Brilliant! Let's get making.

0:04:260:04:28

Now, to start, we're going to make

0:04:280:04:30

a very special painty mixture.

0:04:300:04:33

Can I have a cup, please? That's it.

0:04:330:04:35

Our painty mixture is going to be made up of half paint...

0:04:350:04:39

..and half water.

0:04:440:04:45

Now we need to take a brush and mix it all together.

0:04:490:04:52

Then do the same with your other paint colours.

0:04:520:04:56

Now take a splodge of your first colour

0:05:050:05:07

and splat it onto a large piece of paper.

0:05:070:05:10

That looks good.

0:05:140:05:16

And now it's time to do a second splodge in a different colour.

0:05:160:05:20

Chloe, why don't you grab the yellow there,

0:05:200:05:23

and why don't you do

0:05:230:05:24

a yellow splodge about there?

0:05:240:05:26

Keep going until you've got a few splodges in different colours.

0:05:300:05:34

And you can paint as many jellyfish as you like.

0:05:340:05:38

Now for the really exciting part.

0:05:420:05:45

While the paint is still wet,

0:05:450:05:47

we're going to gently lift up the paper and let the paint drip.

0:05:470:05:51

It doesn't matter if the different colours all drip into each other

0:05:520:05:57

because that all adds to the effect.

0:05:570:05:59

When you're happy, leave it to dry.

0:06:000:06:04

And now, we're going to draw around all of the jellyfish

0:06:040:06:07

to make sure they really stand out.

0:06:070:06:10

And you can even add extra details like a wiggly smile.

0:06:160:06:20

-Now, they're missing something, Chloe. What is it?

-Eyes.

0:06:200:06:23

That's right! Let's make some jellyfish eyes.

0:06:230:06:26

If you grab those stickers,

0:06:260:06:29

can you draw some black dots in the middle of those stickers, please?

0:06:290:06:33

-Finished!

-Brilliant!

0:06:350:06:38

Thank you very much, Chloe.

0:06:380:06:39

We've got our eyes,

0:06:390:06:41

and now we can stick them on.

0:06:410:06:43

We've finished our picture, Chloe.

0:06:520:06:54

It's a funny family of drippy jellyfish.

0:06:540:06:57

And if you enjoyed that, why not try these other ideas too?

0:06:570:07:01

What about a giant drippy octopus

0:07:010:07:04

with coloured stickers on its tentacles?

0:07:040:07:07

Or you could even try some drippy seahorses

0:07:070:07:11

with drippy manes and curly tails.

0:07:110:07:14

Why don't you have fun today splodging and dripping paint?

0:07:140:07:18

Thank you very much, Chloe.

0:07:180:07:20

BOTH: We made it!

0:07:200:07:21

High five!

0:07:210:07:23

What a fantastically fun family of jellyfish! Thanks, Chloe. Bye!

0:07:230:07:28

It's wonderful travelling the world! There's so much to see.

0:07:320:07:36

Oh, look. That's Sydney's famous Opera House.

0:07:360:07:40

CRASHES AND BOINGS

0:07:400:07:42

What...? What's that noise coming from the Marvellous Maker Case?

0:07:420:07:46

Can you hear that?

0:07:460:07:47

It's the Shapes! They're off on their journey around the world.

0:07:510:07:56

-# I am a shape

-La-la-la-la

0:07:580:08:01

# I am a circle

0:08:030:08:05

# I am a triangle

0:08:080:08:10

# I am a square

0:08:130:08:14

# I am a rectangle

0:08:180:08:19

# I am a shape

0:08:270:08:29

# I am a shape

0:08:320:08:33

# I am a shape

0:08:370:08:38

# I am a shape

0:08:410:08:43

# I am a rectangle. #

0:08:500:08:52

How many rectangles can you see?

0:08:550:08:58

One...

0:08:590:09:01

..two...

0:09:020:09:04

..three...

0:09:060:09:08

..four...

0:09:100:09:13

Yes! There are four rectangles.

0:09:130:09:16

Well done, Shapes. It's time to get back in the Marvellous Maker Case.

0:09:160:09:21

-Whee!

-Heh-heh!

-Woo-hoo!

-Whoa!

0:09:210:09:26

It's so much fun travelling the world.

0:09:290:09:31

You never know when you're going to meet new friends.

0:09:310:09:35

Hello, you guys. Hello.

0:09:350:09:36

PHONE RINGS

0:09:360:09:38

Oh! The Maker Phone is ringing.

0:09:380:09:41

Ah! It's Tocky.

0:09:410:09:43

It's Minute Make time in the UK.

0:09:450:09:48

Thanks, Tocky.

0:09:480:09:49

BOAT HONKS

0:09:590:10:01

It's Minute Make time, everyone!

0:10:120:10:14

Yeah!

0:10:140:10:16

And today, we're going to make something that's out of this world.

0:10:160:10:21

Beam it down, Tocky.

0:10:210:10:23

Beaming down now!

0:10:230:10:26

Wow! It's a paper plate hat

0:10:260:10:30

and it can turn you into an alien from outer space.

0:10:300:10:34

It's brilliant,

0:10:350:10:37

and we can make one of these hats using these arty things.

0:10:370:10:42

We've got a paper plate,

0:10:420:10:44

some scissors,

0:10:440:10:46

a pen and some sticky dots.

0:10:460:10:49

Now, do you think it's possible to make this paper plate hat

0:10:490:10:55

in just one minute?

0:10:550:10:57

No way!

0:10:570:10:58

Well, I think I can. I'm going to have to be...

0:10:580:11:01

very quick, but don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

0:11:010:11:06

-Are you ready?

-Yeah!

0:11:060:11:08

All right. Are you ready, though?

0:11:080:11:12

Brilliant! Let's make it in a minute.

0:11:120:11:14

Three, two, one...

0:11:140:11:17

Start the clock! The first thing we'll do

0:11:170:11:19

is fold the paper plate in half

0:11:190:11:21

and then we'll take our scissors

0:11:210:11:24

and very carefully cut around

0:11:240:11:26

this rounded edge here.

0:11:260:11:27

We're not going to cut all the way around.

0:11:270:11:31

We're just going to go to about here

0:11:310:11:34

and then cut along this section

0:11:340:11:37

and that will make

0:11:370:11:38

a sort of cut-out smiley face like that.

0:11:380:11:42

Let's open up this and we can see

0:11:420:11:44

that if we cut along the fold here,

0:11:440:11:48

we'll make two antennae for our alien.

0:11:480:11:51

Let's push them through.

0:11:510:11:52

There we go, there's one

0:11:520:11:54

and there's two.

0:11:540:11:56

Now, let's get our sticky dots

0:11:560:11:58

and we'll put some dots in the middle.

0:11:580:12:00

These are going to make

0:12:000:12:02

some pupils for the eyes of our alien.

0:12:020:12:06

Here comes one sticky dot.

0:12:060:12:08

Stick one sticky dot on there

0:12:080:12:10

and then another sticky dot on top

0:12:100:12:12

and we have made it!

0:12:120:12:15

Yeah!

0:12:150:12:16

Just in time.

0:12:160:12:18

If you've got quite a large head,

0:12:180:12:21

you can make more room in your paper plate hat by doing this.

0:12:210:12:25

Take your scissors, and very carefully

0:12:250:12:28

make a snip here.

0:12:280:12:30

That's it, like that.

0:12:300:12:31

And then you'll have more room for your hat.

0:12:310:12:34

Let's try it on my friend here.

0:12:340:12:37

Thank you, sir. Oh, yes,

0:12:370:12:39

you look excellent! Very good.

0:12:390:12:42

And if you enjoyed that, why don't you try these other ideas too?

0:12:420:12:46

Whoa! What about this three-eyed alien with yellow spots?

0:12:460:12:52

Or you could try this incredible crown with button jewels,

0:12:520:12:56

cut-out points and sticker decorations.

0:12:560:12:59

Oh, or you could try this super shark

0:12:590:13:02

made by cutting out a shark head shape with jagged teeth.

0:13:020:13:07

Paper plate hats, made in a minute. Why don't you try it?

0:13:080:13:12

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:13:120:13:15

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

0:13:150:13:18

Fold your paper plate in half and cut out a smiley shape like this.

0:13:180:13:23

Then cut along the fold

0:13:250:13:27

and put the antennae up.

0:13:270:13:29

Add black dots to stickers for eyes,

0:13:300:13:33

stick them on

0:13:330:13:35

and your paper plate hat is finished

0:13:350:13:38

and ready to wear.

0:13:380:13:40

Why don't you try and make it in just one minute?

0:13:410:13:45

Thanks, everyone, for being part of another marvellous Minute Make!

0:13:450:13:49

Yeah!

0:13:490:13:52

It's the Queen's house, Buckingham Palace. Look.

0:13:530:13:57

And... Oh!

0:13:570:13:59

Hey, what's this?

0:14:000:14:02

Ah, it's a Mini Maker postcard.

0:14:020:14:06

Let's see what we've been sent today.

0:14:060:14:08

Hello, Mister Maker.

0:14:080:14:10

My name is Louisa and I made a tie for you.

0:14:100:14:13

First, I get the paper that is here,

0:14:130:14:18

I put some butterflies on my tie

0:14:180:14:21

and I stuck a ribbon on it.

0:14:210:14:24

I hope you like my tie, Mister Maker.

0:14:240:14:27

Hello, Mister Maker. My name is Ulrich.

0:14:270:14:31

I made this paper jet.

0:14:310:14:32

I sprayed these paper plates silver.

0:14:320:14:37

I got pictures of astronauts

0:14:370:14:39

and I coloured them in all different colours.

0:14:390:14:42

Do you like my jet, Mister Maker?

0:14:420:14:45

Oh, what lovely ideas. Why don't you try one of those?

0:14:450:14:49

PHONE RINGS

0:14:490:14:50

Oh, excuse me.

0:14:500:14:52

Some Mini Makers are calling!

0:14:520:14:55

Hello, Mister Maker. My name is Dean from Hong Kong,

0:14:550:14:58

and these are all my friends.

0:14:580:15:01

-Hello!

-Can you help us to make a picture?

0:15:010:15:05

What a great idea. I'm on my way.

0:15:050:15:08

I'll be with you for a high five in five, four...

0:15:080:15:13

Three, two...

0:15:150:15:17

-..one...

-We're in Hong Kong!

0:15:180:15:20

I made it! I told you I would.

0:15:220:15:25

High fives, everyone.

0:15:250:15:27

What picture would you like to make?

0:15:290:15:32

-Bugs.

-Bugs? Oh, I like bugs.

0:15:320:15:34

-And what else?

-Flowers.

0:15:340:15:37

-Flowers?

-Trees.

-And trees.

0:15:370:15:40

-Now, these bugs, what will they look like?

-Spotty.

-Oh, yes.

0:15:400:15:45

What sort of colours will they be?

0:15:450:15:47

-Red and black.

-Black.

0:15:470:15:49

They sound like great ideas, Mini Makers. Let's make it together.

0:15:490:15:53

These are going to be the bugs' spots

0:15:540:15:58

and antennae.

0:15:580:16:00

These will be the flowers.

0:16:000:16:02

And we'll need a nice bright background.

0:16:020:16:05

Eh-heh!

0:16:110:16:13

We're having great fun here

0:16:130:16:15

and making our picture has given me an idea.

0:16:150:16:19

Why don't you make something at home?

0:16:190:16:22

Try making this brilliant bug in a jar that's great fun to play with.

0:16:220:16:27

You will need a strip of coloured paper

0:16:280:16:31

and two paper circles,

0:16:310:16:33

a large clean plastic jar

0:16:330:16:36

and some scissors,

0:16:360:16:37

some string and a pom-pom,

0:16:370:16:40

stickers and a pen,

0:16:400:16:42

a glue stick and some sticky tape.

0:16:420:16:45

First, carefully cut lots of zigzags

0:16:450:16:48

into the coloured paper strip like this.

0:16:480:16:51

Next, use stickers to make some flowers.

0:16:540:16:57

Add a different coloured sticker

0:16:570:17:00

for the centre of the flower

0:17:000:17:01

and add as many sticker flowers as you like.

0:17:010:17:05

Now, curl the paper around

0:17:050:17:08

and place it inside the plastic jar like this.

0:17:080:17:12

Take a small piece of string

0:17:140:17:16

and glue it to the pom-pom.

0:17:160:17:18

And leave it to dry.

0:17:190:17:22

Then draw some black dots on two stickers

0:17:220:17:25

and stick them onto the pom-pom.

0:17:250:17:27

These will be the bug's eyes

0:17:270:17:30
