Today, we fly off to Hong Kong

to make a terrific tropical bird picture.

And we show you how to make your own brilliant bottle bird.

Find out how to make a clever corner creature in just one minute.

But first, it's time for some scrap-paper art in South Africa.

Let's have a look around.

And do some shopping.

I've just bought Scrappz a present. Now, it's very delicate,

so it's been wrapped in tissue paper to protect it.

Tissue paper is really useful stuff.

And it's just given me a great idea.

Let's try something.

Try recycling scraps of paper to make a colourful letter picture.

Let's make it!

Oh, that's good news. Everyone else, thank you very much.

Oh, brilliant. Masuli is on her way to help us make our picture.

But first, we'll need somewhere to make it.

Excellent.

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous making table.

Now we just need some arty things to help us make our picture.

Oh, look. Here's the present that I bought Scrappz earlier.

And inside here is some tissue paper.

But I think I might need more paper than this.

Great. Lots of different types of paper.

Some scissors and a ruler.

A rubber and some pencils.

And last, but not least, of course, we'll need a feather duster.

A feather duster?

Scrappz, what are you doing here?

Look, we don't need a feather duster at the moment.

So take that back, please. What we do need is a glue stick. Off you go.

Well done. That's just what we need, thank you.

And look here, I've bought you a present.

I know - it's exciting, isn't it? Here, take this.

This is very delicate. Be careful not to break it!

Scrappz! Never mind. Look what we've got here.

It's a glue stick.

Excellent. We've got everything we need.

Although it does feel like something is missing.

Do you know what it is? No? Um...

-Hello, Mister Maker.

-Masuli, of course, it's you, my friend.

It's great to see you.

And you're just in time to help me make our picture.

It's a colourful paper letter picture.

-So, Masuli, are you ready?

-Yes.

Good. Are you ready?

Fantastic! Let's get making.

The first thing we're going to do is draw a big letter

on a big piece of paper or card.

You can draw whatever letter you like.

But this is a big M for Mister Maker.

Now we need to fatten out this letter with the help of a ruler.

Could you pass me a ruler, please, Masuli? Thank you very much.

Now we use a rubber to rub out the M in the middle.

OK, Masuli, there.

We've got a fat letter M shape.

Now we're going to colour this in

using scraps of paper and tissue paper.

Can you choose some paper or tissue for me, please?

And can you put some glue on it as well?

Great.

Thank you. Let's stick it down.

Carry on sticking scraps all over your letter.

And don't worry if you go over the lines.

It's time now to cut out our letter M.

I'm going to be as neat as I can and as careful as I can

-because scissors are...

-..sharp.

-That's right.

-It's great, isn't it? M for...

-Masuli.

Masuli! Brilliant.

Now, to make our letter really stand out from the background,

we're going to give it a shadow.

So draw around your letter onto a dark piece of paper.

And cut this out as well.

We've got two Ms now.

We're going to glue them down onto our background paper.

Masuli, you can help me. Here.

-Finished.

-Excellent. Can I have it, please?

Stick this down first.

And stick the coloured M on top

and slightly to one side, like this.

Brilliant. We've made a perfect paper letter picture.

Today, we are going to make one of these.

It's a corner creature.

A brilliant bookmark that keeps your favourite page

in your favourite book.

Now, we can make one of these by using these things.

Let's have a look.

We've got a glue stick, some scissors, some coloured cards.

We've got two squares and two triangles.

And we'll also need some googly eyes.

You can find googly eyes in an art and craft shop,

but today I'm going to save time by ordering some on my Makerphone.

Here we go. Googly eyes - add to cart.

Oh, that was quick.

Let's have a look inside.

Right, ah, yes, we've got some googly eyes.

Brilliant, let's put these over here. I think we're ready.

Now, my friends, do you think it's possible

to make this corner creature in just one minute?

No way!

I think I can.

I'll have to be very quick, but don't worry,

I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

-Are you ready?

-Yes.

Oh, right. Are YOU ready, though?

Brilliant. Let's make it in a minute.

-Three, two, one.

-Start the clock.

The first thing we do is get a square and our scissors

and very carefully cut it in half.

We need to be careful because scissors are...

..sharp!

That will give us two triangles.

We'll just have one of those now and we'll get some glue

and put some glue on this bottom edge here.

That will help us to stick on

these other triangles, which will be our teeth.

There we go. Let's bring back in a green square now.

And we'll put some glue here on two of these edges.

That's that one and that one, like that.

Let's stick on the pink triangle, like this. There it goes.

Let's make sure it's stuck on. There it is, that's good.

We can turn it over and all we need are some googly eyes.

Let's stick on googly eye number one.

There we go. And we just need googly eye number two.

We have finished.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Cut a square of paper into two triangles. Stick on paper teeth.

Glue two edges of another paper square.

And stick on your triangle, like this.

Add googly eyes.

And your corner creature is finished.

Here are the birds.

Oh, no!

No, feathers, I'm ticklish!

And we need a coloured background.

We are having great fun here,

and making our big bird picture has just given me an idea.

Why don't you make something too?

Try making a brightly coloured bottle bird as a bedroom pet.

You will need an old, clean plastic bottle, and kitchen foil.

Tissue paper, glue and a brush.

Coloured paper strips, a pen, scissors and stickers.

First, scrunch a ball of foil around the top of a bottle.

Now stick pieces of coloured tissue paper all over the bottle with glue.

It looks good if you use more than one colour of tissue paper.

Then leave it to dry.

Next, take coloured paper strips

and wrap them around a pen

to make lots of different coloured curly feathers.

Stick curls on the sides of the bottle for wings.

On its head to make a curly crest.

And on the back of the bottle for tail feathers.

Then fold a big curl in half for a beak.

And carefully cut a point, like this.

Then stick it onto the head.

Finally, add black dots to stickers for eyes.

And stick them on.

Your brilliant bottle bird is finished. And ready to play with.

What a lovely idea.
