Hello! It's making time!

Get ready for an arty adventure around the world!

'Today, we're off to South Africa to make a picture that's out of this world!

'We'll create your own cosmic control panel

'and a super sock pen pot in just one minute.

'But first, we go down under to make footprints at the beach.'

Oh, wow! We're on a beautiful beach in Australia!

Oh, I love it at the beach.

We've got the sea, we've got the sun. And, of course, we've got my footprints in the sand.

Wait a minute! That's just given me a great idea!

Let's try something.

'Have fun with your feet and make a fantastic footprint animal picture.'

We're going to need a Mini Maker to help us.

Jaden will help us make our picture.

But first we need somewhere to make it.

Oh, wonderful! The Marvellous Maker Case has become a Marvellous Making Table.

Now we need arty things to make our footprint animal picture.

We'll need a tray...

..some paper or card...

..some paint...

..a glue stick, some scissors and a pen

and my travel can of stinky feet spray.

My travel can of stinky feet spray?

We don't need this!

Scraps! How did you get here?

SCRAPS GABBLES

Oh, I see! We don't need this can of stinky feet spray at the moment.

But we do need some stickers.

-SCRAPS GABBLES

-Oh, good. Off you go.

Oh, there we are, some stickers! Thank you very much, Scraps.

We've got some stickers!

There we are, we've got everything we need,

except I feel there's something missing.

-Do you know what it is?

-I'm here, Mister Maker.

Jaden, of course! Thank you for coming.

You're just in time to help us make this footprint animal picture.

Look, it's a mummy kangaroo with her baby in her pouch.

-Are you ready, Jaden?

-Yeah, sure.

Good! Are you ready?

Fantastic! Let's make it!

Now, the first thing we're going to do is draw a kangaroo.

Can you pass me that orange card there, please? That's it.

Drawing a kangaroo is easier than you think.

Let's start off by drawing a big teardrop shape for the body.

Then do a smaller one for the head.

A longer one for the tail.

And two small ones for the ears.

Now, we mustn't forget the kangaroo's pouch.

That looks a little bit like a smiley mouth.

Now, what do you normally see in a kangaroo pouch?

-A joey.

-A joey, that's right!

That's a baby kangaroo. So, Jaden, why don't you use that brown card

and draw the baby kangaroo?

Jaden, you're going to draw a small, baby-sized teardrop for the head.

Two tiny teardrop ears.

And two paws.

Good job. When you've drawn your kangaroo pieces, you need to cut them out,

-but be careful because scissors are...

-Sharp!

-That's right!

There, we've got all our cut-out pieces of our kangaroo and our joey.

And now we're ready to arrange them on our background.

And when you're happy with your picture, we can glue everything down.

Now we're going to add eyes, noses and mouths

using stickers and a black pen.

That's her nose.

It's just like your nose.

-Like my nose?

-HE LAUGHS

And here are the eyes.

It's looking good, but something's missing. What?

-Feet.

-Feet, that's right! Walk this way!

This can get a little bit messy, so Jaden is wearing an apron,

we've put down some old paper and our paint is in a tray.

If you're making this at home, get an adult to help you.

But today, I'm going to help you. High-five!

Excellent work! Very carefully step into the tray of paint.

One foot at a time. That's it.

And another foot. Good boy!

And then, one foot at a time, step onto the picture.

Well done. That's it. And then your other foot.

That's brilliant! And now step back into the tray.

Good boy. Excellent work! What a great picture.

That's right! Now, can anyone guess what colour my socks are?

All good guesses, Mini Makers, but today my socks are...

-Drum roll, please.

Now, we need some more socks because we're going to make this!

It's a sock pen pot, very useful for keeping all of your arty things inside.

Now, we can make one of these by using these arty things.

We've got a sock, a pot,

a glue stick, some fun fur,

a pen and some stickers.

Now, do you think it's possible to make this sock pen pot

-in just one minute?

-ALL: No way!

I think I can. I'll have to be very quick.

I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Ready?

-ALL: Yeah!

-Are you ready? Fantastic. Let's make it in a minute.

-Three! Two! One!

-Start the clock!

Let's get our sock and pot and put the pot inside the sock

and put the rest of the sock in there.

Let's get our pen and draw on a smiley face like that.

There we are. Right, get some stickers

and draw dots inside the stickers for eyes.

And let's stick on the stickers.

There's one eye

and there's another eye.

Now let's use these rectangle-shaped stickers for teeth. There's one.

There's another one.

And one last tooth, here we go.

Let's give our friend some hair. We've got fun fur.

Let's stick on some glue like that. There we go.

If we turn him round like that, he's taking shape,

and we can stick in our lovely hair and we have done it!

I did it, just in time.

But you could try all sorts of ideas.

'How about a smiley striped pot

'with blue woollen hair and pink sticker cheeks?

'Or a spotty pen pot

'made from a dotty sock with three eyes and orange hair?

'Or you could make a bright orange pot

'with wild, curly pipe-cleaner hair.'

'Let's go back and take another look.

'Pull a sock over an empty pot like this.

'Draw on a mouth, add dots to stickers for eyes and stick them on.

'Add sticker teeth and glue fun fur inside the back of the pot for hair.

-Are we ready to blast off to space?

Let's paint a planet. Come on, everyone.

There we go, get painting!

'These are the buttons for a control panel.

'And we'll need a nice space background.'

and that's given me an idea. Why don't you make something, too?

'Try making a colourful cosmic control panel.

'It's great fun to play with on your own space adventure.

'You will need a small box,

'kitchen foil and sticky tape,

'a small piece of card and a glue stick,

'colourful lids, a pencil, modelling clay,

'stickers and a photograph.

'First, find a small box

'and make sure all the flaps have been stuck down.

'Now take some kitchen foil and wrap the box up like a present.

'Stick down all the edges with sticky tape.

'Next, take a rectangle of card

'and stick it to the front of the box for a screen, like this.

'Now stick on colourful lids for buttons and knobs.

'To make an antenna, push the non-pointed end of a pencil

into a ball of modelling clay.

'Then carefully push the pointed end into the box.

'It's a good idea to ask an adult to help you.

'Add stickers for extra buttons and lights.

'And to finish it off, stick on a picture or photograph like this.

'But make sure it's a little bit smaller than the screen.

'What a handsome spaceman!

'Now your cosmic control panel is finished and ready to play with.'

What a great idea. Why don't you try it?
