0:00:370:00:39

Hello. It's making time.

0:00:420:00:44

Get ready for an arty adventure around the world.

0:00:440:00:49

Today we go to South America and travel back in time to make

0:00:510:00:55

a big dinosaur picture and discover how you can make your own dinosaur.

0:00:550:01:00

We're off to Australia to make a glitter badge in a minute.

0:01:010:01:05

But first we go to Hong Kong to cook up some tasty-looking art.

0:01:050:01:09

Whoa!

0:01:120:01:13

Look! We're in Hong Kong.

0:01:150:01:17

I'm so excited!

0:01:170:01:19

Let's have a look around.

0:01:190:01:21

HE LAUGHS

0:01:210:01:22

Wow. There's so much to look at - the harbour...

0:01:240:01:28

the parks...

0:01:280:01:29

the beaches...

0:01:290:01:31

and the markets.

0:01:310:01:33

Phew! All that sightseeing's made me hungry.

0:01:330:01:36

Oh!

0:01:380:01:39

These noodles are so tasty.

0:01:390:01:42

But I wonder...could they be arty too?

0:01:420:01:46

Well, I've just had an idea.

0:01:460:01:49

Let's try something.

0:01:490:01:51

Try making a wonderful woolly meal monster.

0:01:510:01:54

It's great fun to do.

0:01:540:01:57

Let's make it!

0:01:570:01:58

I'll have to save these for later.

0:01:580:02:00

Now we will need a Mini Maker to help us.

0:02:030:02:07

Let's see if there's one near by.

0:02:070:02:09

Hello, Mini Makers.

0:02:100:02:12

Who's going to help me today?

0:02:120:02:14

Hello, Mister Maker. I'm Boris.

0:02:140:02:17

Oh, hello, Boris.

0:02:170:02:19

I can help you.

0:02:190:02:21

Oh, that's great news.

0:02:210:02:23

Everyone else, thank you very much.

0:02:230:02:26

Great stuff.

0:02:260:02:27

Boris is on his way to help us make our picture.

0:02:270:02:31

But first, we'll need somewhere to make it.

0:02:310:02:35

Fantastic!

0:02:400:02:41

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous making table.

0:02:410:02:46

Now we just need some arty things to make our picture.

0:02:460:02:49

We'll need...

0:02:490:02:51

some paper or card.

0:02:510:02:52

A paper cup.

0:02:560:02:57

A bowl and some wool.

0:03:010:03:03

A glue stick and some gloopy PVA glue.

0:03:070:03:10

A plastic fork, some scissors and a pen.

0:03:140:03:18

And we'll also need one more thing.

0:03:190:03:21

That's right, my hairbrush.

0:03:210:03:24

My hairbrush?

0:03:250:03:27

Scrappz, how did you get here?

0:03:270:03:29

SCRAPPZ CHATTERS

0:03:290:03:30

I don't need my hairbrush. Why mess with perfection?

0:03:300:03:35

SCRAPPZ SMIRKS

0:03:350:03:36

Right, now, Scrappz, you can take this back,

0:03:360:03:39

but we do need some paper plates.

0:03:390:03:42

Oh, well done, Scrappz.

0:03:440:03:47

You've done it again, my friend.

0:03:470:03:49

We've got some paper plates.

0:03:510:03:54

We've got everything we need.

0:03:540:03:56

Although it does feel like something's missing.

0:03:560:04:00

Do you know what it is?

0:04:010:04:03

I'm here Mister Maker.

0:04:060:04:09

Of course, Boris.

0:04:090:04:10

It's brilliant to see you, my friend. You're just in time.

0:04:100:04:14

We're going to make this wonderful woolly meal monster.

0:04:140:04:18

It looks like it's made of real noodles.

0:04:180:04:21

So are you ready?

0:04:210:04:22

-Yes!

-Brilliant!

0:04:220:04:24

Are you ready?

0:04:240:04:25

Fantastic! Let's get making.

0:04:250:04:28

The first thing we're going to do, Boris, is make a tablecloth.

0:04:280:04:32

You could draw this, if you like,

0:04:320:04:34

but we're going to use patterned paper.

0:04:340:04:36

So, Boris, can you find that over there for me?

0:04:360:04:40

Put it on a coloured background

0:04:400:04:44

and place the paper plate on top.

0:04:440:04:46

Then glue everything down.

0:04:480:04:50

Next we need to find some scraps

0:04:530:04:55

or a bundle of wool, like this.

0:04:550:05:00

Now you need to find an old bowl.

0:05:000:05:03

Ask an adult to help you.

0:05:030:05:05

Here's a bowl for us, Boris.

0:05:050:05:07

I'm going to put the wool into the bowl.

0:05:070:05:10

Perfect.

0:05:100:05:11

Now, Boris, can you please take some gloopy glue? That's it.

0:05:110:05:16

Now, get ready and squeeze some gloopy glue into the bowl.

0:05:160:05:21

Excellent work, Boris.

0:05:210:05:23

Now give everything a stir with a plastic fork.

0:05:230:05:27

Excellent. Well done, Boris.

0:05:280:05:31

It looks like our mixture is ready to tip on to the paper plate.

0:05:310:05:36

When you're happy with the position of the wool,

0:05:360:05:39

you can stick the fork into it like this.

0:05:390:05:41

Now, let's leave this to one side for the moment, Boris,

0:05:410:05:45

Because it's time to make a monster face.

0:05:450:05:49

First, draw a monster tongue.

0:05:490:05:51

Then draw around something round, like a paper cup for the eyes.

0:05:520:05:57

When you've drawn your two circles...

0:05:570:06:00

add two black dots in the middle for pupils.

0:06:000:06:04

Now we can cut all of these shapes out.

0:06:040:06:06

But, Boris, we must be careful, because scissors are...

0:06:060:06:10

-Sharp.

-That's right.

0:06:100:06:12

Now, Boris, I'm going to leave these over here with you

0:06:170:06:20

and bring back in our woolly noodles.

0:06:200:06:24

Could you put some glue on the back of our tongue?

0:06:240:06:27

Lovely. Thank you, Boris.

0:06:300:06:32

I can poke this into the noodles.

0:06:320:06:34

And then stick on the eyes.

0:06:360:06:38

We've finished. It's a meal monster.

0:06:400:06:44

If you enjoy that, why not try these other ideas too?

0:06:440:06:47

How about making a monster with one eye, teeth and horns?

0:06:470:06:52

Or you could even try making two monster friends,

0:06:540:06:57

sharing their own paper plate.

0:06:570:06:59

Why don't you try one of those ideas today?

0:07:010:07:03

Thank you so much for helping me, Boris.

0:07:030:07:06

BOTH: We made it!

0:07:060:07:07

High-five.

0:07:070:07:09

What a fantastically funny noodle monster.

0:07:090:07:13

Well done, Boris. Bye.

0:07:130:07:15

That, over there, Maker Bear, is Kowloon.

0:07:160:07:20

-BOUNCING

-Yes, that's right.

0:07:200:07:22

Can you hear that noise?

0:07:220:07:24

It's coming from the Marvellous Maker Case.

0:07:240:07:28

It's the shapes!

0:07:300:07:32

They're off on their journey around the world.

0:07:320:07:35

CHEERING

0:07:350:07:36

ALL: # I am a shape

0:07:370:07:39

# I am a circle

0:07:420:07:43

# I am a triangle

0:07:460:07:48

# I am a square

0:07:510:07:53

# I am a rectangle

0:07:560:07:58

# I am a shape

0:08:060:08:07

# I am a shape

0:08:100:08:12

# I am a shape

0:08:150:08:17

# I am a shape

0:08:200:08:21

# I am a triangle. #

0:08:280:08:30

What are the triangles making today?

0:08:330:08:35

Can you guess?

0:08:380:08:39

What could it be?

0:08:430:08:45

It's an eagle.

0:08:480:08:50

Well done, shapes.

0:08:510:08:53

It's time to get back in the Marvellous Maker Case.

0:08:530:08:57

Oh, I love it here in Hong Kong.

0:09:050:09:08

I've had such a fantastic time.

0:09:080:09:10

PHONE RINGS

0:09:100:09:11

The Maker Phone's ringing. Excuse me.

0:09:110:09:14

Oh, it's Tocky.

0:09:140:09:15

It's minute-make time in Australia.

0:09:170:09:20

Thanks, Tocky.

0:09:200:09:21

I'm on my way.

0:09:210:09:23

Oh, here we go.

0:09:230:09:26

HORN BLARES

0:09:320:09:33

It's minute-make time!

0:09:440:09:46

Hi, everyone! That's it, yeah.

0:09:460:09:49

Hey, looking good, sir. Looking good.

0:09:490:09:52

But the hair needs some work, actually.

0:09:520:09:55

Hold on to that please. There we go.

0:09:550:09:57

Very nice, sir. That's very Mister Maker.

0:10:010:10:04

But, actually, it's still missing something.

0:10:040:10:08

Oh, I know.

0:10:080:10:09

A gorgeous glitter badge. It looks very nice, sir.

0:10:110:10:15

In fact, it suits you.

0:10:150:10:17

That, my friends, is what we're going to make today.

0:10:170:10:21

By using these arty things. Let's have a look.

0:10:210:10:24

We've got some sticky tape.

0:10:240:10:26

Some gloopy PVA glue.

0:10:260:10:29

Some glitter.

0:10:290:10:30

An old toy.

0:10:300:10:32

A rectangle of card.

0:10:320:10:34

An old plastic lid.

0:10:340:10:35

A brush.

0:10:350:10:37

And as this can get very, very messy,

0:10:370:10:40

we're going to make this on an old tray.

0:10:400:10:43

It might be a good idea to put down some old paper

0:10:430:10:46

or some newspaper first.

0:10:460:10:48

Now, my friends, do you think we can make this

0:10:480:10:52

gorgeous glitter badge in just one minute?

0:10:520:10:55

ALL: No way, Mister Maker.

0:10:550:10:58

Oh, really?

0:10:580:11:00

Well, I think I can,

0:11:000:11:01

but I will have to be very quick.

0:11:010:11:04

Don't worry though, I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

0:11:040:11:07

-Are you ready?

-ALL: Yes!

0:11:070:11:09

Good. Are you ready?

0:11:090:11:11

Fantastic! Let's make it in a minute.

0:11:110:11:15

-ALL: Three, two, one...

-Start the clock.

0:11:150:11:18

First thing we'll do is get our old plastic lid

0:11:180:11:21

and we're going to fold over the end of a rectangle of card

0:11:210:11:24

and then stick it onto the plastic lid like this.

0:11:240:11:27

That will help you hook the badge into your pocket.

0:11:270:11:31

We need to get our old toy,

0:11:320:11:34

and we're going to get some gloopy glue.

0:11:340:11:37

Let's coat our old toy in gloopy glue like this.

0:11:370:11:39

It can get really messy.

0:11:390:11:41

We're going to put glue everywhere.

0:11:410:11:44

Like that.

0:11:440:11:46

I'm going to cover it in glitter. Here we go. Whoa!

0:11:460:11:50

Look at that.

0:11:500:11:51

Then I'll give it a little shake. Ah, yes. Very nice.

0:11:510:11:54

Now we're going to coat this plastic lid in gloopy glue as well.

0:11:540:11:59

We'll get lots on. It's lots of fun, this one.

0:11:590:12:02

There we go.

0:12:020:12:03

We're going to sprinkle on some of this glitter.

0:12:030:12:06

You can use whatever colour you like.

0:12:060:12:09

but we're using blue.

0:12:090:12:10

You get glitter everywhere like that.

0:12:100:12:13

Then you stick on your toy on top

0:12:130:12:16

and you've made a gorgeous glitter badge.

0:12:160:12:18

CHEERING

0:12:180:12:20

Don't worry if there are any gaps. You can fill them in later.

0:12:200:12:24

When this dries, it will look something like this.

0:12:240:12:27

If you've got more than a minute, you could try some other ideas too.

0:12:280:12:33

How about a glittery lizard badge?

0:12:340:12:36

Or even a glittery bike badge?

0:12:390:12:41

Or you could try a terrific turtle badge like this.

0:12:430:12:47

Gorgeous glitter badges made in just one minute. Why don't you try it?

0:12:480:12:53

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:12:530:12:55

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

0:12:550:12:59

Fold the end of a rectangle of card and tape it to the back of a lid.

0:12:590:13:03

Cover an old toy in gloopy glue and sprinkle on lots of glitter.

0:13:030:13:08

Do the same with the lid.

0:13:080:13:11

Then stick the toy on top.

0:13:110:13:13

Your gorgeous glitter badge is finished.

0:13:130:13:16

Why don't you try and make it in a minute?

0:13:190:13:21

Thanks, everyone, for being part of another minute make!

0:13:210:13:25

CHEERING

0:13:250:13:27

Oh, what's this?

0:13:320:13:33

It's a Mini Maker postcard.

0:13:350:13:37

Let's see what we've been sent today.

0:13:370:13:40

Hello, Mister Maker. I'm Catherine and I've made a fish tank for you.

0:13:400:13:45

First cut holes in a big box.

0:13:450:13:47

We made a sea horse, some fish and a starfish.

0:13:470:13:51

I hope you like all my fish, Mister Maker.

0:13:510:13:55

I'm Oliver and I made a bee for you.

0:13:550:13:59

I made stripes on it.

0:13:590:14:01

I painted him gold and black,

0:14:010:14:04

and then I put a happy face on him.

0:14:040:14:06

He's called Buzz-Buzz and I hope you like it.

0:14:060:14:09

Oh, what lovely ideas. Why don't you try some of those today?

0:14:090:14:13

PHONE RINGS

0:14:130:14:15

Oh, the Maker Phone's ringing. Excuse me.

0:14:150:14:19

Oh, some Mini Makers are calling.

0:14:190:14:21

Hello, I'm Fritara from Brazil and these are my friends.

0:14:220:14:27

Can you help us make a picture?

0:14:270:14:29

What a lovely idea!

0:14:290:14:31

I'll see you for a high-five in five...four...

0:14:310:14:35

CHILDREN: Three...two...one.

0:14:400:14:43

We're in Brazil.

0:14:430:14:44

I made it!

0:14:460:14:48

I told you I would, Mini Makers. Let's have some high-fives.

0:14:480:14:51

Now...what picture would you like to make?

0:14:530:14:56

THEY SHOUT: Dinosaurs!

0:14:560:14:58

Whoa! Dinosaurs.

0:14:580:15:00

That's a great idea. Now, what do dinosaurs look like?

0:15:000:15:05

They have teeth and big feet.

0:15:050:15:07

Big feet, like me.

0:15:070:15:09

Sorry about that, everybody. Now what noises do dinosaurs make?

0:15:110:15:15

SHE ROARS

0:15:150:15:16

-Whoa!

-HE ROARS

0:15:160:15:18

That's right.

0:15:180:15:19

Now apart from dinosaurs, what else should we have in our picture?

0:15:190:15:23

A volcano.

0:15:230:15:25

A volcano. With smoke coming out of the top, maybe.

0:15:250:15:29

I think we're ready, aren't we?

0:15:290:15:31

ALL: Yes!

0:15:310:15:32

Let's make it together.

0:15:320:15:34

ALL: We are making the mountains!

0:15:340:15:37

These are the dinosaurs.

0:15:440:15:46

And we'll need a nice green background.

0:15:520:15:54

That's it, over there. Well done, Mini Makers.

0:15:590:16:02

We're having a great time making our big dinosaur picture.

0:16:020:16:06

That's just given me an idea.

0:16:060:16:09

Why don't you make something too?

0:16:090:16:12

Try making a box pterodactyl.

0:16:120:16:14

It's brilliant to keep as a bedroom pet.

0:16:140:16:18

You will need a small box...

0:16:180:16:21

paint and a brush...

0:16:210:16:23

some card...

0:16:230:16:25

scissors and a glue stick...

0:16:250:16:27

stickers and a pen.

0:16:270:16:30
