Hello. It's making time.

Get ready for an arty adventure around the world.

Today we go to South America and travel back in time to make

a big dinosaur picture and discover how you can make your own dinosaur.

We're off to Australia to make a glitter badge in a minute.

But first we go to Hong Kong to cook up some tasty-looking art.

Whoa!

Look! We're in Hong Kong.

I'm so excited!

Let's have a look around.

Wow. There's so much to look at - the harbour...

the parks...

the beaches...

and the markets.

Phew! All that sightseeing's made me hungry.

Oh!

These noodles are so tasty.

But I wonder...could they be arty too?

Well, I've just had an idea.

Let's try something.

Try making a wonderful woolly meal monster.

It's great fun to do.

Let's make it!

I'll have to save these for later.

Now we will need a Mini Maker to help us.

Boris is on his way to help us make our picture.

But first, we'll need somewhere to make it.

Fantastic!

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous making table.

Now we just need some arty things to make our picture.

We'll need...

some paper or card.

A paper cup.

A bowl and some wool.

A glue stick and some gloopy PVA glue.

A plastic fork, some scissors and a pen.

And we'll also need one more thing.

That's right, my hairbrush.

My hairbrush?

Scrappz, how did you get here?

SCRAPPZ CHATTERS

I don't need my hairbrush. Why mess with perfection?

SCRAPPZ SMIRKS

Right, now, Scrappz, you can take this back,

but we do need some paper plates.

Oh, well done, Scrappz.

You've done it again, my friend.

We've got some paper plates.

We've got everything we need.

Although it does feel like something's missing.

Do you know what it is?

I'm here Mister Maker.

Of course, Boris.

It's brilliant to see you, my friend. You're just in time.

We're going to make this wonderful woolly meal monster.

It looks like it's made of real noodles.

So are you ready?

-Yes!

-Brilliant!

Are you ready?

Fantastic! Let's get making.

The first thing we're going to do, Boris, is make a tablecloth.

You could draw this, if you like,

but we're going to use patterned paper.

So, Boris, can you find that over there for me?

Put it on a coloured background

and place the paper plate on top.

Then glue everything down.

Next we need to find some scraps

or a bundle of wool, like this.

Now you need to find an old bowl.

Ask an adult to help you.

Here's a bowl for us, Boris.

I'm going to put the wool into the bowl.

Perfect.

Now, Boris, can you please take some gloopy glue? That's it.

Now, get ready and squeeze some gloopy glue into the bowl.

Excellent work, Boris.

Now give everything a stir with a plastic fork.

Excellent. Well done, Boris.

It looks like our mixture is ready to tip on to the paper plate.

When you're happy with the position of the wool,

you can stick the fork into it like this.

Now, let's leave this to one side for the moment, Boris,

Because it's time to make a monster face.

First, draw a monster tongue.

Then draw around something round, like a paper cup for the eyes.

When you've drawn your two circles...

add two black dots in the middle for pupils.

Now we can cut all of these shapes out.

But, Boris, we must be careful, because scissors are...

-Sharp.

-That's right.

Now, Boris, I'm going to leave these over here with you

and bring back in our woolly noodles.

Could you put some glue on the back of our tongue?

Lovely. Thank you, Boris.

I can poke this into the noodles.

And then stick on the eyes.

We've finished. It's a meal monster.

Hi, everyone! That's it, yeah.

Hey, looking good, sir. Looking good.

But the hair needs some work, actually.

Hold on to that please. There we go.

Very nice, sir. That's very Mister Maker.

But, actually, it's still missing something.

Oh, I know.

A gorgeous glitter badge. It looks very nice, sir.

In fact, it suits you.

That, my friends, is what we're going to make today.

By using these arty things. Let's have a look.

We've got some sticky tape.

Some gloopy PVA glue.

Some glitter.

An old toy.

A rectangle of card.

An old plastic lid.

A brush.

And as this can get very, very messy,

we're going to make this on an old tray.

It might be a good idea to put down some old paper

or some newspaper first.

Now, my friends, do you think we can make this

gorgeous glitter badge in just one minute?

ALL: No way, Mister Maker.

Oh, really?

Well, I think I can,

but I will have to be very quick.

Don't worry though, I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

-Are you ready?

-ALL: Yes!

Good. Are you ready?

Fantastic! Let's make it in a minute.

-ALL: Three, two, one...

-Start the clock.

First thing we'll do is get our old plastic lid

and we're going to fold over the end of a rectangle of card

and then stick it onto the plastic lid like this.

That will help you hook the badge into your pocket.

We need to get our old toy,

and we're going to get some gloopy glue.

Let's coat our old toy in gloopy glue like this.

It can get really messy.

We're going to put glue everywhere.

Like that.

I'm going to cover it in glitter. Here we go. Whoa!

Look at that.

Then I'll give it a little shake. Ah, yes. Very nice.

Now we're going to coat this plastic lid in gloopy glue as well.

We'll get lots on. It's lots of fun, this one.

There we go.

We're going to sprinkle on some of this glitter.

You can use whatever colour you like.

but we're using blue.

You get glitter everywhere like that.

Then you stick on your toy on top

and you've made a gorgeous glitter badge.

CHEERING

Don't worry if there are any gaps. You can fill them in later.

When this dries, it will look something like this.

If you've got more than a minute, you could try some other ideas too.

How about a glittery lizard badge?

Or even a glittery bike badge?

Or you could try a terrific turtle badge like this.

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Fold the end of a rectangle of card and tape it to the back of a lid.

Cover an old toy in gloopy glue and sprinkle on lots of glitter.

Do the same with the lid.

Then stick the toy on top.

Your gorgeous glitter badge is finished.

They have teeth and big feet.

Now apart from dinosaurs, what else should we have in our picture?

A volcano.

A volcano. With smoke coming out of the top, maybe.

I think we're ready, aren't we?

ALL: Yes!

Let's make it together.

ALL: We are making the mountains!

These are the dinosaurs.

And we'll need a nice green background.

That's it, over there. Well done, Mini Makers.

We're having a great time making our big dinosaur picture.

That's just given me an idea.

Why don't you make something too?

Try making a box pterodactyl.

It's brilliant to keep as a bedroom pet.

You will need a small box...

paint and a brush...

some card...

scissors and a glue stick...

stickers and a pen.

First, fold a big piece of card in half.

Draw a wing shape starting at the folded edge, like this.

Draw a triangle for feet.

Then carefully cut these shapes out,

and unfold them to make wings and feet.

Now fold another piece of card in half

and draw a triangle on the fold for a head.

And a small rectangle for the neck like this.

Then carefully cut them out and unfold them.

Next paint the box and leave it to dry.

Then glue the box to the wings.

Stick the feet to the bottom of the box.

The neck to the top of the box.

And glue the head onto the neck.

Add stickers for eyes...

nostrils...

and spots on the body and wings.

Your box pterodactyl is finished and ready to play with.

What a great idea. Why don't you try it?
