Hello! It's making time!

Get ready for an arty adventure around the world!

Today, we create a splash

in South Africa as we make

a big shark picture and find out how

to make your own little pet shark.

We head off to Australia and show you how to make

a marble creature in just a minute, but first,

an arty idea that's lots of fruity fun.

Whoa! Ho-ho!

Look at that! We've arrived in the UK.

I'm sure we'll find some arty ideas. Let's have a look around.

Wow! There's so much to see here -

palaces,

castles,

and even ships!

But you can get ideas from absolutely anything. Look at this!

Wow! What a lot of lovely fruit!

I've just had an idea.

Try using ordinary fruit to make this

fantastically colourful fruit print.

Abby is on her way to help us make our picture,

but first, we'll need somewhere to make it.

Oh, wonderful!

The Marvellous Maker Case has become a marvellous making table.

Now, we just need some arty things to make our picture.

We'll need some paper or card...

..some paint...

..paper plates...

..a pen and some kitchen roll,

and, of course, we'll need one more thing.

That's right, we'll need a shoe.

Hmm!

-A shoe?!

-Hmm!

Scrappz, how did you get here?!

SCRAPPZ REPLIES

Look, we don't need a shoe at the moment,

but we do need some fruit.

Can you go and find some, please?

Wow! That was quick!

Well done, Scrappz. That's just what we need.

Thank you.

This is a lemon and we'll be using other types of fruit too.

Brilliant! We've got everything we need.

Although, it does feel like something's missing.

Do you know what it is?

No? Em...

I'm here, Mister Maker!

Of course! Abby, it's you, my friend! Oh, thank you for coming.

You're just in time to help me make our picture!

It's a fantastic fruit print picture. Very colourful!

So, Abby, are you ready?

-Yep.

-Good. Are you ready?

Fantastic! Let's get making.

Now, Abby, the first thing we're going to do

is take some paper plates and some paint.

Now, this can get very messy,

so it's a good idea to put down some old paper and put on some aprons.

Let's go! Come on.

Excellent! We look good.

Let's get squirting!

Bright colours work really well,

but make sure you put a different colour on each plate.

Now, Abby, let's bring in our background paper

and we need to find some fruit.

Thank you.

This is a really good way to use up some old leftover fruit.

Now, you need to find an adult and ask them to, very carefully,

cut your fruit in half.

Now, we've got lots of different types of fruit here.

We've got grapefruits...

we've got oranges and, somewhere in there,

we've got some lemons.

Now, let's start with a grapefruit. Right, there you go.

Dip it into the paint. Excellent! Then print it onto the paper.

Let's start in the middle.

And then we can work outwards towards the edge of the paper.

There! Now, what do you think, Abby?

It looks OK, but I think it will look much, much better with more colours.

More colours, eh?

That's a great idea, and actually,

we can still use this piece of grapefruit,

but we need to clean it up first,

so can you get a bit of kitchen roll and just give that a nice clean.

That's it. Give it a wipe.

And now you can dip this in another colour.

Carry on printing until you've used lots of fruits

and lots of different colours...

..and leave it to dry.

And, now, it looks really good

if you draw around all of the print marks.

Now, that can be the peel around the edge of the fruit.

And what's in the middle of the fruit there, Abby?

A pip or the seeds.

That's right! Let's draw those too.

Keep drawing and add as much detail as you like to all

the different fruit.

We've finished, Abby! It's a fantastic fruit print picture!

I'm on my way. It's minute-make time!

And it's also make-a-move time!

Come on, let's dance, everybody. Wobble, glide and slide.

Wobble.

They can all do the make-a-move dance, just like...this!

It's a marvellous marble creature. And look, it can wobble!

That's right. Glide...and slide!

And we can make one of those by using these arty things.

We've got a plastic container that splits in two.

A glue stick, a paper cake case,

a marble, some stickers,

a pen and some scissors.

Now, do you think it's possible to make this

marvellous marble creature in just one minute?

ALL: No way!

Oh, really? Well, I think I can.

I will have to be very quick, but don't worry.

I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

ALL: Yes!

Are you ready?

Fantastic! Let's make it in a minute.

Three, two, one.

Start the clock. Right, the first thing we do is

pull apart our plastic egg like that and

now we're going to get our stickers and we're going to draw

some dots in the middle.

They're going to be our eyes.

There's one there. There's one eye, and now let's put the other one on.

Now, we can put half a circle shape like this.

This is a good sticker cos this makes a very smiley mouth.

We're going to put on some cheeks with these little stickers

and let's put another one on. There we go. There is...two.

Right, let's get our paper cake case.

We fold it in half and cut this in half very carefully with scissors.

We have to be careful because scissors are...?

-ALL: Sharp!

-That's right.

Cut that in half as well, like that, and then we need to get some glue

and stick it on...

..like this.

These are going to be the wings.

Then we get our marble and we've made a marvellous marble creature.

-ALL CHEER

-Phew!

I did it just in time!

It's a marvellous marble creature, and look, it wobbles,

it glides and it slides.

It's fantastic!

I hope you make one at home and if you've got more than a minute,

you could try these other ideas too.

How about a glittery marble creature with silver cake case wings?

Or why not try an alien marble creature with three eyes

and alien pipe cleaner antennae?

Or you could even make a creepy-crawly marble creature

with fake fur hair and ferocious fangs.

Why don't you try and make one in a minute?

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

Take half of the plastic egg and add stickers for eyes...

a mouth...

and cheeks.

Now, fold a cake case in half and carefully cut it in half,

then in half again to make the wings.

Stick the wings to the top of the egg.

Place the egg on top of the marble

and your marble creature is finished!

Hello, I'm Sophia and I'm from South Africa

and these are all my friends.

I told you I would! Right, let's get some high-fives.

Here we go. High-fives!

What picture would you like to make?

-Sharks!

-A shark!

-A picture of a shark. Oh, I like that idea.

What else will be in our picture?

ALL: Crabs!

Crabs, that's right! Snappy crabs!

And what else might we see at the bottom of the sea?

ALL: Sand!

Sand. That's right and what colour's sand?

-ALL: Yellow!

-Yellow!

I think we're ready, aren't we? Let's make it together.

This is the shark's body.

ALL: We are painting the fish.

These ones are all done.

We'll need a nice, sandy background...

..and some seaweed.

We're having a great time making our big underwater picture

and that has just given me a great idea.

DING

Why don't you make something too?

Try making your own paper shark to keep as a bedroom pet.

You will need paper,

scissors and some sticky tape,

a glue stick and a pen,

pompoms and some stickers.

To make the shark's body, roll a piece of paper into a cone

and tape it into place.

Now, carefully, trim off the open end of the cone.

Next, take another piece of paper and draw three fin shapes...

..and a tail, like this.

Now, on white paper, draw lots of triangle-shaped teeth.

And then carefully cut everything out.

Next, make a small fold along the edges of the fins

and all of the teeth.

Stick the fins onto the shark's body.

That's two on the side...

..and one on top.

Glue the tail to the pointy end of the cone.

And stick the teeth to the inside of the mouth.

Add some stickers to pompoms for eyes and glue them on.

Finally, add extra details with a black pen.

Your brilliant paper shark pet is finished and ready to play with.

What a great idea. Why don't you try it?

But, right now, let's see what's happening under the sea.
