Now we also need four lolly sticks, but we need some help to find them.

I know! Let's call Scraps!

Did you hear that?

A ruler, a sharp pencil, a ball of modelling clay and a glue stick.

And we also need some colourful bottle tops and some craft foam.

This is what we're going to make today -

a fantastic driving picture! Are you ready, Eva?

-Yes!

-Great!

Are YOU ready? Brilliant. Let's get making.

The first thing we do is bring in a big piece of card.

You can use whatever colour you like, but we're using silver.

I'm going to turn this over and, with a pencil,

I'm going to draw a big curve.

You need to cut this out.

-But we have to be careful because scissors are...

-Sharp!

This will be the car's dashboard.

I'm putting this to one side for the moment

because it's time to turn our paper plate into a steering wheel...

like this! To do this,

we turn our paper plate upside down and draw a cross on the back of it.

We use a ruler for this.

We're going to make a hole here...

here...here...and here.

Now, to make these holes, put a ball of modelling clay underneath

and carefully push a sharp pencil through the plate.

This is a bit tricky, so you might want to ask an adult to help you.

Do the same to make three more holes...

..and carefully cut out the four sections of the plate like this...

to make your steering wheel.

I'll put that to one side for the moment

and bring in a nice big piece of paper for our background.

We'll stick our dashboard onto this background paper. Will you help me?

I'm going to glue on the dashboard.

I'm going to put a bit of glue here for our steering wheel.

These lolly sticks will be the windscreen wipers.

We can arrange and glue down

all of our coloured bottle tops and craft foam pieces to make...

the buttons on our dashboard and steering wheel!

Will you help me with this, Eva? Can you put some glue on there?

It's quite sticky, isn't it? We can put this in the middle, there.

I'll choose this bottle top and put some glue on the edge, like that.

Put that in the middle and stick down lots of other bottle tops

and craft foam pieces to finish your driving picture.

You could even turn your paper plate into the wheel of a spacecraft

with glittery bottle tops and printed paper planets!

We made it! And now, Eva, your home is where the art is!

Oh, what a beautiful day for a relaxing drive in the maker-mobile.

I'm on my way!

Here we are.

And today we're going to make something really wobbly!

Whoa! Whoooaaahhh!

That's right, we're going to make one of these...

It's a wobbly pen head!

Look! It's brilliant!

And if you pick your pen up, it really wobbles!

Now, to make one of these you will need...

a glue stick, a pipe cleaner, two pompoms,

that's one large and one small, and of course, a pen.

Oh! We'll also need some googly eyes,

you can find these in an arts and crafts shop.

Oh! I've got them!

are our googly eyes.

Now, do you think it's possible to make this wobbly pen head

in just one minute?

CHILDREN: No way!

Well, I'm going to have to be quick,

but I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

ALL: Yes!

Brilliant! Let's make it in a minute!

ALL: Three, two, one!

Start the clock!

Let's get our pipe cleaner and the pompom,

and push the pompom onto the pipe cleaner.

It's quite fiddly, so ask an adult.

Get the small pompom now,

and put on plenty of glue.

This is going to be the nose, so stick it in the middle.

Let's get a googly eye,

some glue on there,

and put that first googly eye on. There we go.

And now the other googly eye,

on that side there. Great. He's looking very good.

Now get the pen and turn it upside down,

and start wrapping this pipe cleaner round, and round, and round,

and round it goes, and then on the end of your pen,

we've got a wobbly pen head!

CHILDREN CHEER

Phew! I made it!

But if you've got more than a minute,

you can make all sorts of wobbly pen heads.

You could do this.

How about a blue one with curly pipe cleaner hair?

Or this one with pompom hair.

Or even this one, with wild woolly hair and a sticker for a mouth.

Why don't you have a go? Here's a reminder of how to do it.

'Let's go back and take another look.

'Push a pompom onto a pipe cleaner,

'glue on a smaller pompom to make a nose.

These big tubes will make great bodies.

Right, under you go! That's it.

We're having great fun making our big tube people,

so why don't you have a go making some smaller ones?

Try making a terrific tube friend.

Make it, play with it, have fun with it.

To make one you will need half a kitchen roll,

coloured paper, a glue stick,

pieces of wool, some small lids,

coloured sticky dots, and a pen.

Take the kitchen roll, then wrap your coloured paper around the tube

and glue it in place to make clothes.

Make sure you leave some space at the top for your tube person's face.

Take the wool,

and tape it to both sides of the tube for hair...

..like this.

Now make a hat,

by gluing the two small lids together.

Then stick the lid hat to the tube.

Decorate your tube person with coloured stickers,

and white stickers for eyes.

Then you can add some pupils with a black pen...

..and maybe some eyelashes and a smiley mouth.

You can make as many tube people as you like...

..in as many different designs as you like.

The more you make, the more you can play with.

That is a great idea,

but I wonder how our big tube people are coming along.

Oh, yes! Looking good, yeah.
