Hello again, it's great to see you. | 0:00:46 | 0:00:49
I'm out having a drive in the maker-mobile. | 0:00:49 | 0:00:52
Where do you think we should go today? | 0:00:52 | 0:00:54
-SQUAWK! -Tocky, here. | 0:00:54 | 0:00:57
Mini-maker message! | 0:00:57 | 0:00:59
Hello, I'm Harry. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:01
Hello, Harry. Can I help you today? | 0:01:01 | 0:01:04
Yes, please, Mister Maker. | 0:01:04 | 0:01:05
I'll be there very soon! | 0:01:05 | 0:01:07
I've arrived! | 0:01:23 | 0:01:25
Hello, Harry. How can I help you today? | 0:01:29 | 0:01:32
Can you show me how to make a ripped paper picture? | 0:01:32 | 0:01:36
That's a good idea. I like ripping - it's great fun. | 0:01:36 | 0:01:39
And really easy, too. | 0:01:39 | 0:01:41
Oh! Ha-ha! | 0:01:42 | 0:01:43
MR MAKER STRAINS | 0:01:45 | 0:01:46
Oh. Actually, sometimes it's quite hard to rip things. | 0:01:46 | 0:01:51
What we need is something thinner. | 0:01:51 | 0:01:53
Yes, that'll do. | 0:01:54 | 0:01:55
Let's have a look now. | 0:01:55 | 0:01:57
Ha-ha! I did it! | 0:01:58 | 0:02:00
And these pieces of ripped paper have just given me a great idea. | 0:02:03 | 0:02:07
Let's try something. | 0:02:08 | 0:02:10
Try making this lovely layered picture, | 0:02:10 | 0:02:13
made by ripping colourful shapes from paper. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:17
BOTH: Let's make it! | 0:02:17 | 0:02:19
But first, we'll need somewhere to make it. | 0:02:19 | 0:02:22
Oh! Ha-ha. We'll also need some things from the Doodle Drawers. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:30
I'll be back soon, Harry. | 0:02:30 | 0:02:32
Some coloured paper. | 0:02:37 | 0:02:39
We also need another very special type of paper. | 0:02:43 | 0:02:47
I wonder if Scraps can help? | 0:02:47 | 0:02:49
TOOT-TOOT! | 0:02:49 | 0:02:51
SCRAPS HUMS | 0:02:51 | 0:02:54
Where is Scraps? | 0:02:54 | 0:02:55
Scraps! Scraps... | 0:02:55 | 0:02:58
Oh. I think he might be in the shower. | 0:02:58 | 0:03:00
Ha-ha! Scraps! Scraps! Come on. | 0:03:00 | 0:03:03
We need your help. | 0:03:03 | 0:03:04
HE SQUEAKS | 0:03:04 | 0:03:07
Sorry to bother you. But could you find us some tracing paper, please? | 0:03:07 | 0:03:11
HE SQUEAKS | 0:03:11 | 0:03:13
Thank you. Tracing paper is very thin paper that you can see through. | 0:03:13 | 0:03:17
Oh, great! Well done, Scraps. | 0:03:20 | 0:03:22
HE SQUEAKS, THEN CRASHES AWAY | 0:03:22 | 0:03:24
Thank you. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:25
And we'll also need...a glue stick! | 0:03:30 | 0:03:33
This is what we're going to make today. | 0:03:33 | 0:03:36
It's a lovely layered picture of some ducks on a pretty pond. | 0:03:36 | 0:03:41
-So what do you think? -It's really good! | 0:03:41 | 0:03:44
-It's good? Brilliant! So are you ready? -Yeah. | 0:03:44 | 0:03:47
Great! Are you ready? Brilliant! Let's get making. | 0:03:47 | 0:03:51
The first thing to make is the water in our picture. | 0:03:51 | 0:03:55
We'll need a blue piece of paper, | 0:03:55 | 0:03:57
and we'll tear out two long, wavy strips! | 0:03:57 | 0:04:00
Take the paper, and tear off a thick wavy piece for one edge, | 0:04:00 | 0:04:05
and a thinner wavy piece for the other edge, like this. | 0:04:05 | 0:04:09
Next, rip out some green leaf shapes. | 0:04:09 | 0:04:12
Actually, you can help with this, Harry. | 0:04:12 | 0:04:15
Now let's rip out some ducks from yellow paper. | 0:04:22 | 0:04:26
This can be a bit fiddly, so you might need an adult to help you. | 0:04:26 | 0:04:30
Look! Two ducks! We're going to put them | 0:04:34 | 0:04:36
to the side for the moment, and bring in the blue paper for our sky. | 0:04:36 | 0:04:41
Remember those long, wavy blue strips we ripped out for the water? | 0:04:41 | 0:04:46
We need the larger one. | 0:04:46 | 0:04:48
Here it is. We're going to line it up on the background like this. | 0:04:48 | 0:04:52
Make sure that the straight edges and the corners match. | 0:04:52 | 0:04:58
Now we can add a duck and some leaves. | 0:04:58 | 0:05:00
-Here's a little duck... -QUACK! | 0:05:00 | 0:05:03
..and three green leaves, I think. | 0:05:03 | 0:05:06
I'm tucking these behind the blue strip. | 0:05:06 | 0:05:09
When you're happy with where everything is, | 0:05:09 | 0:05:12
glue it all down! | 0:05:12 | 0:05:14
Next, add some glue around the edge of your tracing paper. | 0:05:14 | 0:05:17
There we go. | 0:05:19 | 0:05:22
Now we can stick this onto our picture, | 0:05:22 | 0:05:26
then bring back in the remaining long, blue, wavy strip | 0:05:26 | 0:05:30
and place it at the bottom like this. | 0:05:30 | 0:05:33
Perfect! | 0:05:33 | 0:05:34
We can also add another duck and some green leaves. | 0:05:34 | 0:05:38
-QUACK! -When you're happy with it, | 0:05:39 | 0:05:42
you can glue it down again! | 0:05:42 | 0:05:44
There, all finished. | 0:05:44 | 0:05:46
Can you see how the different layers of paper and tracing paper | 0:05:46 | 0:05:50
make the background look like it's a long way away? | 0:05:50 | 0:05:54
It's very clever! | 0:05:54 | 0:05:56
If you enjoyed that, there are lots of other ideas. | 0:05:56 | 0:05:59
How about these torn paper cows, | 0:06:00 | 0:06:02
on ripped rolling hills, under a bright yellow sun? | 0:06:02 | 0:06:07
What about this marvellous monkey swinging from the trees | 0:06:07 | 0:06:11
in this fabulous forest? | 0:06:11 | 0:06:12
Layered pictures, made with a bit of sticking | 0:06:12 | 0:06:16
and a lot of ripping! Try one today. | 0:06:16 | 0:06:19
-Harry, what do you think? -It's really good. -Brilliant! | 0:06:19 | 0:06:23
We made it. Now your home is where the art is! High five! | 0:06:23 | 0:06:27
Well done. | 0:06:29 | 0:06:30
What a fantastic ripping picture, Harry. Bye-bye! | 0:06:30 | 0:06:35
Ahhh! I love being out and about in the maker-mobile. | 0:06:36 | 0:06:40
The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting, | 0:06:40 | 0:06:44
-and... -GIGGLING AND BOUNCING | 0:06:44 | 0:06:46
What's that noise? | 0:06:46 | 0:06:49
Now, who do you think's in the Doodle Drawers? | 0:06:49 | 0:06:52
RATTLING | 0:06:52 | 0:06:54
# I am a shape | 0:06:59 | 0:07:01
# I am a shape | 0:07:05 | 0:07:07
# I am a circle | 0:07:09 | 0:07:11
# I am a triangle | 0:07:14 | 0:07:16
# I am a square | 0:07:19 | 0:07:21
# I am a rectangle | 0:07:24 | 0:07:26
# I am a shape | 0:07:33 | 0:07:35
# I am a shape | 0:07:38 | 0:07:39
# I am a shape | 0:07:43 | 0:07:45
# I am a shape | 0:07:48 | 0:07:49
# I am a rectangle! # | 0:07:56 | 0:07:58
What are the rectangles making today? | 0:08:01 | 0:08:04
Can you guess? | 0:08:05 | 0:08:06
I wonder what it could be? | 0:08:09 | 0:08:12
It's a xylophone! | 0:08:15 | 0:08:17
Well done, Shapes. | 0:08:18 | 0:08:20
It's time to get back in the Doodle Drawers! | 0:08:20 | 0:08:23
Hee hee! | 0:08:26 | 0:08:28
BEEP BEEP! | 0:08:28 | 0:08:30
Oh, what a lovely day for a country drive in the maker-mobile. | 0:08:30 | 0:08:35
-Wow! -Ooh! | 0:08:35 | 0:08:36
Minute-make time! | 0:08:36 | 0:08:38
Hey, it's minute-make time! I'm on my way! | 0:08:38 | 0:08:42
We've arrived. | 0:08:54 | 0:08:56
It's minute-make time! | 0:09:04 | 0:09:06
ALL: Yay! | 0:09:06 | 0:09:08
Today we're going to make something brilliant! | 0:09:08 | 0:09:10
-It's... -BUZZING | 0:09:10 | 0:09:12
What's that? What is it? | 0:09:12 | 0:09:14
Oh, no! | 0:09:14 | 0:09:16
It's a fly! | 0:09:16 | 0:09:17
It's gone. | 0:09:21 | 0:09:23
-BUZZING -It's back again! | 0:09:23 | 0:09:25
I was only joking. It's not a real fly, | 0:09:28 | 0:09:30
it's my pet fly. | 0:09:30 | 0:09:33
Look at this, it's fantastic. | 0:09:33 | 0:09:35
It's really good for playing tricks on people | 0:09:35 | 0:09:38
or hanging around in your room. | 0:09:38 | 0:09:40
To make one of these, you will need... | 0:09:40 | 0:09:43
a glue-stick, | 0:09:43 | 0:09:45
a pipe-cleaner, | 0:09:45 | 0:09:46
a piece of elastic, | 0:09:46 | 0:09:48
some tracing paper, | 0:09:48 | 0:09:50
a lolly stick | 0:09:50 | 0:09:51
and we'll also need some googly eyes. | 0:09:51 | 0:09:53
You can find these in an art and craft shop. | 0:09:53 | 0:09:56
I'll be back very soon. | 0:09:56 | 0:09:58
I've got them. | 0:10:05 | 0:10:06
Right. Here are our googly eyes. | 0:10:06 | 0:10:11
Do you think it's possible to make this pet fly in just one minute? | 0:10:11 | 0:10:18
ALL: No way! | 0:10:18 | 0:10:19
I think I can. I'm going to have to be very quick, though. | 0:10:19 | 0:10:22
Don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready? | 0:10:22 | 0:10:27
ALL: Yeah! | 0:10:27 | 0:10:28
Are you ready? | 0:10:28 | 0:10:29
Great! Let's make it in a minute! | 0:10:29 | 0:10:32
ALL: Three, two, one... | 0:10:32 | 0:10:34
Start the clock! | 0:10:34 | 0:10:36
Let's get our piece of elastic and pipe-cleaner | 0:10:36 | 0:10:38
and we're going to wrap it around the end, like this, | 0:10:38 | 0:10:43
then we need our lolly stick. | 0:10:43 | 0:10:44
We're going to wrap the pipe-cleaner round the lolly stick | 0:10:44 | 0:10:48
to make the fly's body. | 0:10:48 | 0:10:51
There we go, like that. | 0:10:51 | 0:10:53
Then we slide it off and we've got the start of our fly. | 0:10:53 | 0:10:57
Now I'm going to open this up | 0:10:57 | 0:11:00
in the middle, like that. | 0:11:00 | 0:11:02
Then if we get our paper, | 0:11:02 | 0:11:04
we can fold it in half, like this, | 0:11:04 | 0:11:08
and then tear out a lumpy shape. | 0:11:08 | 0:11:10
This is going to be the wings of our fly. | 0:11:10 | 0:11:14
We can push those in the middle there, | 0:11:14 | 0:11:18
and then squidge it down. | 0:11:18 | 0:11:19
That's good. | 0:11:19 | 0:11:20
Then we need to get our googly eyes | 0:11:20 | 0:11:23
and stick those on. | 0:11:23 | 0:11:25
Let's put one on that side, | 0:11:25 | 0:11:28
and then one on this side here. | 0:11:28 | 0:11:30
I've just about got enough time to do it. | 0:11:30 | 0:11:33
I've made a pet fly! | 0:11:33 | 0:11:36
CHEERING | 0:11:36 | 0:11:38
Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? | 0:11:38 | 0:11:41
If you've got more than a minute | 0:11:41 | 0:11:43
you can make all sorts of pet flies and bugs. | 0:11:43 | 0:11:46
Look at this. | 0:11:46 | 0:11:48
A dragonfly with a gold pipe-cleaner body | 0:11:48 | 0:11:51
and green wings. | 0:11:51 | 0:11:53
Or even this. | 0:11:53 | 0:11:54
A tropical bug made with beads | 0:11:54 | 0:11:57
and a curly pipe-cleaner for its antennae. | 0:11:57 | 0:12:00
Pet bugs made in a minute. | 0:12:00 | 0:12:02
Why don't you have a go? Here's a reminder of how to do it. | 0:12:02 | 0:12:06
Let's go back to the beginning and take another look. | 0:12:06 | 0:12:10
Tie a piece of elastic around the pipe-cleaner, | 0:12:10 | 0:12:13
wrap the pipe-cleaner around the lolly stick, | 0:12:13 | 0:12:15
tear off some tracing paper wings, | 0:12:15 | 0:12:18
push the wings into the fly's body, | 0:12:18 | 0:12:21
add two googly eyes and your pet fly is finished! | 0:12:21 | 0:12:26
Why don't you try and make one in a minute? | 0:12:30 | 0:12:33
It's time for me to buzz off. Bye! | 0:12:33 | 0:12:35
ALL: Bye! | 0:12:35 | 0:12:37
I wonder where we're off to next. | 0:12:42 | 0:12:44
-ALL: Hello, Mister Maker. -Nice to see you. | 0:12:44 | 0:12:49
Can you guess what we're making today? | 0:12:49 | 0:12:51
I don't know. Let's find out. | 0:12:51 | 0:12:54
I am brown. | 0:12:58 | 0:13:00
I am orange. | 0:13:01 | 0:13:03
I am green. | 0:13:07 | 0:13:09
I am pink. | 0:13:14 | 0:13:15
I am peach. | 0:13:17 | 0:13:18
I am dark blue. | 0:13:21 | 0:13:23
I am purple. | 0:13:27 | 0:13:29
I'm light blue. | 0:13:37 | 0:13:39
ALL: It's a diver. | 0:13:45 | 0:13:47
Well done, everybody. See you next time. | 0:13:47 | 0:13:50
Now watch this. | 0:13:50 | 0:13:51
Hello. Are you ready for a big surprise? | 0:13:51 | 0:13:58
I'm going to surprise these mini-makers, | 0:14:00 | 0:14:02
who have no idea I'm on my way and what we're going to make. | 0:14:02 | 0:14:06
-Hello! -ALL: Mister Maker. | 0:14:06 | 0:14:09
It's great to meet you. How are you? Are you OK? | 0:14:09 | 0:14:13
ALL: Yeah. | 0:14:13 | 0:14:14
We're going to make something that's really cool. Here's a clue. | 0:14:14 | 0:14:19
Any guesses? | 0:14:23 | 0:14:24
A penguin? | 0:14:24 | 0:14:26
Penguins, that's right! | 0:14:26 | 0:14:28
I think we should make some big penguins on a big icy picture. | 0:14:28 | 0:14:32
-Will you help me? -ALL: Yeah! | 0:14:32 | 0:14:34
OK, then, Rico, Anna-Carla, Kiam, Amrita and Ruah, let's make it! | 0:14:34 | 0:14:41
We're going to make some big penguins on a big icy picture. | 0:14:41 | 0:14:46
Is there anything good on the table that we could use to make our ice? | 0:14:46 | 0:14:50
This sheet of fabric? | 0:14:50 | 0:14:53
-Do you think this will work? -ALL: Yeah. | 0:14:53 | 0:14:55
That's fantastic. So we've got the ice. | 0:14:55 | 0:14:59
Now, we're going to make a big penguin. | 0:14:59 | 0:15:01
What sort of things would be on a penguin's face? | 0:15:01 | 0:15:03
What's that? | 0:15:03 | 0:15:06
A beak. | 0:15:06 | 0:15:07
A beak. Try it on for size. | 0:15:07 | 0:15:09
What else does a penguin need? | 0:15:09 | 0:15:12
This for the eyes. | 0:15:12 | 0:15:15
The penguin eyes! Plastic eggs for the penguin eyes. | 0:15:15 | 0:15:19
Brilliant. Shall we make it? | 0:15:19 | 0:15:21
ALL: Yeah! | 0:15:21 | 0:15:22
Come one, let's go! | 0:15:22 | 0:15:24
What will this blue paint be? | 0:15:26 | 0:15:27
I think it will be the sea. | 0:15:27 | 0:15:29
We're making fish. | 0:15:32 | 0:15:34
We're going to turn our card into a very colourful iceberg. | 0:15:40 | 0:15:45
Grab some brightly-coloured chalk | 0:15:45 | 0:15:48
and start to rub it all along the edge. | 0:15:48 | 0:15:51
-Does that sound like a good plan? -ALL: Yeah. | 0:15:51 | 0:15:53
Great. I'll leave you to it. | 0:15:53 | 0:15:56
Now let's make an icy pool. | 0:15:59 | 0:16:02
We're having great fun making our big penguins, | 0:16:06 | 0:16:09
why don't you have a go making your own little one? | 0:16:09 | 0:16:13
Try making a wobbly penguin. | 0:16:14 | 0:16:17
Make it, play with it, have fun with it. | 0:16:17 | 0:16:20
To make one, you will need... | 0:16:20 | 0:16:22
a plastic egg, like one of these, | 0:16:22 | 0:16:25
some modelling clay, | 0:16:25 | 0:16:26
gloopy PVA glue, a brush, | 0:16:26 | 0:16:29
black card and tissue paper, | 0:16:29 | 0:16:31
paint, a pencil. | 0:16:31 | 0:16:34
scissors, | 0:16:34 | 0:16:35
a black pen, | 0:16:35 | 0:16:37
a glue stick | 0:16:37 | 0:16:38
and a piece of orange card. | 0:16:38 | 0:16:40
Take an egg-shaped plastic container that comes in two halves, | 0:16:40 | 0:16:44
open it up and push a ball of modelling clay into one half of it. | 0:16:44 | 0:16:48
Then close the container. | 0:16:48 | 0:16:50
Next, cover your egg with a layer of gloopy PVA glue. | 0:16:53 | 0:16:57
Then stick on some small pieces of black tissue paper. | 0:17:00 | 0:17:04
Leave it to dry. | 0:17:04 | 0:17:06
Once it's dry, paint on the penguin's face with white paint. | 0:17:07 | 0:17:12
When that's dry, take a piece of black card | 0:17:14 | 0:17:17
and draw two pointy wing shapes. | 0:17:17 | 0:17:20
Carefully cut them out | 0:17:24 | 0:17:26
and glue one to each side of the penguin. | 0:17:26 | 0:17:29
Then take a pen and draw two eyes. | 0:17:34 | 0:17:38
Last of all, stick on a triangle of orange card to make a beak. | 0:17:41 | 0:17:46
Your penguin is finished and ready to wobble! | 0:17:49 | 0:17:53
What a perfect little penguin. | 0:17:55 | 0:17:57
I wonder how our big penguins are coming along. | 0:17:57 | 0:18:01
I think these eyes look great, don't you? | 0:18:01 | 0:18:05
Nearly finished... | 0:18:15 | 0:18:16
There we go, well done, everyone! | 0:18:16 | 0:18:19
We made it! Yeah! | 0:18:19 | 0:18:25
Now that's what I call a cool picture. | 0:18:31 | 0:18:35
Mister Maker, time to go. | 0:18:35 | 0:18:39
That's it for now, my making time is over, | 0:18:39 | 0:18:42
but yours is just beginning. | 0:18:42 | 0:18:44
It's time to put the maker-mobile back in its box. | 0:18:44 | 0:18:47
