BEEP, BEEP!

0:00:460:00:47

Hello! Nice to see you.

0:00:470:00:50

I've hit the road in my brilliant Makermobile.

0:00:500:00:53

I never quite know where it's going.

0:00:530:00:55

SQUAWK!

0:00:550:00:57

Tocky here!

0:00:570:00:58

Mini-maker message.

0:00:580:01:00

Hello, I'm Ben.

0:01:000:01:02

Hello, Ben! Can I help you today?

0:01:020:01:04

Yes, please, Mister Maker.

0:01:040:01:06

I'll be there very soon.

0:01:060:01:08

Here I am!

0:01:240:01:26

Hello, Ben! Put it there. Now, how can I help you today?

0:01:310:01:34

Can you show me how to make a torn-paper picture?

0:01:340:01:38

A torn-paper picture?

0:01:380:01:40

Great idea! I'm really good at tearing.

0:01:400:01:43

'I'm great at tearing open presents on my birthday.'

0:01:440:01:47

DANCE MUSIC PLAYS

0:01:480:01:50

'I'm even quite good at...'

0:01:500:01:52

RIP!

0:01:520:01:53

..tearing my trousers,

0:01:540:01:56

when I'm dancing.

0:01:560:01:57

He-he-he-he! Oh!

0:01:590:02:00

Anyway, Ben, do you know what the easiest thing to tear is?

0:02:000:02:04

No!

0:02:040:02:06

I'll tell you. It's this stuff - tissue paper.

0:02:060:02:10

And it's just given me a great idea.

0:02:100:02:12

Let's try something.

0:02:130:02:15

Try making this terrific torn-tissue picture.

0:02:160:02:19

Colourful, creative and very easy to do.

0:02:190:02:22

BOTH: Let's make it!

0:02:220:02:24

But first, Ben, we need somewhere to make it.

0:02:240:02:27

We also need some things from the Doodle Drawers. I'll be back soon.

0:02:310:02:35

A large piece of card...

0:02:390:02:41

Hmm... Now the next one is a bit tricky.

0:02:460:02:49

I wonder if Scraps can help?

0:02:490:02:51

HONK, HONK!

0:02:510:02:53

SCRAPS SQUEAKS

0:02:530:02:54

Scraps!

0:02:540:02:55

We need a jug of water. Can you help?

0:02:550:02:58

SCRAPS SQUEAKS

0:02:580:02:59

SCRAPS SQUEAKS

0:03:050:03:08

Oh!

0:03:080:03:09

Well done!

0:03:090:03:10

Thanks, Scraps!

0:03:100:03:12

SCRAPS SQUEAKS

0:03:120:03:14

Ha-ha! I'm going to walk with this very carefully.

0:03:150:03:18

And we also need lots of coloured tissue paper

0:03:280:03:31

and some gloopy PVA glue. He-he!

0:03:310:03:34

This is what we're going to make -

0:03:350:03:37

-it's a tremendous torn-tissue picture.

-Great.

0:03:370:03:41

"Great." I'm glad that you're pleased.

0:03:410:03:44

-Does that mean you're ready?

-Yes.

0:03:440:03:46

Fantastic! Are you ready?

0:03:460:03:48

Great! Let's get making.

0:03:480:03:50

The first thing we need is tissue paper.

0:03:500:03:53

You can use whatever colour tissue paper you like,

0:03:530:03:56

but it's a good idea to use similar colours together.

0:03:560:04:00

Maybe some pinks and purples together

0:04:000:04:03

or you could use greens and blues.

0:04:030:04:07

When you have chosen your tissue paper, start tearing.

0:04:070:04:11

You tear whatever shapes you like.

0:04:120:04:14

Oh, that's a good one.

0:04:170:04:19

We've got lots of tremendous torn tissue paper pieces

0:04:270:04:30

and now we need to make a very special mixture

0:04:300:04:34

that's made up of half gloopy glue and half water. Here we go, Ben.

0:04:340:04:38

Grab this brush and give that mixture a good stir, please.

0:04:380:04:42

Well done, Ben.

0:04:440:04:46

Our mixture is ready. It's time to bring in a clean sheet of card,

0:04:460:04:50

or paper, and ask you to spread a thin layer

0:04:500:04:53

of our special mixture

0:04:530:04:55

all the way across the card.

0:04:550:04:57

That's it. And cover the whole thing.

0:04:590:05:01

Great gluing, Ben. That's it. Well done.

0:05:030:05:06

I'm going to move this over here now, because it is time

0:05:060:05:10

to stick our ripped tissue paper pieces into the glue.

0:05:100:05:14

We can put them wherever we want. There, that looks good.

0:05:140:05:18

-What should we go for next?

-A purple one.

0:05:180:05:20

Here we go.

0:05:200:05:22

Let's stick it on.

0:05:220:05:24

Now, carry on sticking down your ripped up pieces of paper.

0:05:240:05:28

When you are happy with it,

0:05:290:05:31

brush another thin layer of the gloopy glue mixture on top,

0:05:310:05:35

then let it dry.

0:05:350:05:36

He-he.

0:05:400:05:41

And there we have it - a tremendous torn-tissue picture.

0:05:450:05:49

If you enjoyed that, there are lots of other ideas you could try, too.

0:05:490:05:53

How about a lovely green, yellow and blue picture?

0:05:530:05:57

Or you could try sticking the strips the other way.

0:05:570:06:01

Or how about criss-crossing your strips to make a different pattern?

0:06:030:06:08

Torn-tissue pictures - why don't you try making one today?

0:06:080:06:12

-What do you think of ours, Ben?

-Great!

0:06:120:06:14

"Great!" I think you're great. We made it!

0:06:140:06:17

Now, Ben, your home is where the art is! High five!

0:06:170:06:21

Ha-ha! What a terrific torn-tissue picture. Well done, Ben!

0:06:220:06:26

-BEEP, BEEP!

-Bye!

0:06:260:06:27

He-he-he. How lovely. Hee-hee!

0:06:270:06:30

It's brilliant being out and about in the Makermobile.

0:06:300:06:34

There is always so much to see and do.

0:06:340:06:36

MUFFLED KERFUFFLE

0:06:360:06:38

What's that noise?

0:06:380:06:40

KERFUFFLE

0:06:400:06:42

I know who that is!

0:06:420:06:43

-Whee!

-Yeah!

-Aah!

-Ooh!

Can you see what it is?

0:07:580:08:00

Any ideas?

0:08:030:08:04

It's a flamingo!

0:08:100:08:12

Well done, Shapes! Time to get back in the Doodle Drawers!

0:08:150:08:19

He-he!

0:08:220:08:23

BEEP, BEEP!

0:08:230:08:24

Oh, I love driving in the Makermobile.

0:08:260:08:29

There are so many interesting things to see.

0:08:290:08:32

SQUAWK!

0:08:320:08:33

Minute-make time!

0:08:330:08:35

Hey, it's minute-make time!

0:08:350:08:38

I'm on my way!

0:08:380:08:39

I've arrived!

0:08:520:08:53

It's minute-make time, everyone!

0:09:020:09:05

CHEERING

0:09:050:09:06

And today, we are going to make something

0:09:060:09:09

that's eggs-tremely brilliant!

0:09:090:09:12

No, it's not my breakfast,

0:09:120:09:14

but it is eggs-cellent! Ha-ha!

0:09:140:09:17

Get it? Eggs-cellent, because it's an egg box...

0:09:170:09:20

No? Would you like to see inside?

0:09:200:09:23

ALL: Yeah!

0:09:230:09:24

Let's have a look.

0:09:240:09:26

Hey! It's the Yolkfolk!

0:09:260:09:29

They're brilliant and they live inside an egg box.

0:09:290:09:32

Smashing, aren't they?

0:09:320:09:34

To make one of these, you will need...

0:09:340:09:37

a pencil...

0:09:370:09:39

some chopped-up pieces of wool...

0:09:390:09:41

and we'll also need some googly eyes and air-drying clay.

0:09:410:09:45

You can find these in an art and craft shop.

0:09:450:09:48

I'll be back soon.

0:09:480:09:50

CAR ENGINE, CLOCK TICKING

0:09:510:09:53

TILL RINGS, CAR ENGINE

0:09:530:09:55

I've got them!

0:09:560:09:57

Here is our air-drying clay

0:10:000:10:02

and, of course, our googly eyes.

0:10:020:10:06

Do you think it's possible to make one of these Yolkfolk

0:10:060:10:11

in just one minute?

0:10:110:10:12

ALL: No way!

0:10:120:10:15

Well, let's find out. I'm going to have to be very quick

0:10:150:10:19

but don't worry - I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

0:10:190:10:22

Ready?

0:10:220:10:23

ALL: Yeah!

0:10:230:10:24

Are you ready?

0:10:240:10:26

Great. Let's make it in a minute!

0:10:260:10:29

ALL: Three, two, one...

0:10:290:10:32

Start the clock.

0:10:320:10:33

Right, we're going to get our ball of air-drying clay

0:10:330:10:36

and roll it into an egg shape, like this.

0:10:360:10:39

There we go. Make it all eggy.

0:10:390:10:42

There we go, like that.

0:10:420:10:44

I think that looks good.

0:10:440:10:46

There. That looks like an egg.

0:10:460:10:49

And now, we need to get our googly eyes and we'll just

0:10:490:10:53

push them into the clay. One there and one there as well.

0:10:530:10:57

There's two googly eyes.

0:10:570:10:58

Now our friend here needs some hair so we'll bunch all the wool together

0:10:580:11:04

and grab the pencil. Push the hair in

0:11:040:11:07

and then push the pencil into the clay

0:11:070:11:10

like that and we get some hair. Look - he's got spiky hair like me!

0:11:100:11:16

I will use this pencil again to make a mouth in the front

0:11:160:11:19

and we have got one of our Yolkfolk!

0:11:190:11:23

ALL CHEER

0:11:230:11:25

Phew, I made it!

0:11:250:11:26

If you've got more than a minute, you could paint it, like this one.

0:11:260:11:30

And there are all sorts of Yolkfolk you could try.

0:11:300:11:34

How about this pink one with yellow wool hair?

0:11:340:11:37

Or even this green one, with a plastic lid for a hat!

0:11:370:11:41

You could make a whole family of egg box-living Yolkfolk.

0:11:410:11:46

-They're great!

-YOLKFOLK: We are cracking?

0:11:460:11:49

Oh, Yolkfolk. Why don't you try to make some?

0:11:490:11:52

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:11:520:11:55

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

0:11:550:11:58

Roll some air-drying clay into an egg shape.

0:11:580:12:01

Add two googly eyes.

0:12:010:12:04

And add some wool for hair using a pencil to push it in.

0:12:040:12:08

Use your pencil to make a mouth and your Yolk person is finished!

0:12:080:12:15

Why don't you try and make some Yolkfolk?

0:12:170:12:20

They're smashing! Right, I've got to go. Bye!

0:12:200:12:23

ALL: Bye!

0:12:230:12:25

TOOT! TOOT!

0:12:260:12:28

I love driving the Makermobile.

0:12:280:12:30

Where shall we go next?

0:12:300:12:32

ALL: Hello, Mister Maker.

0:12:320:12:35

Oh, hello. Nice to see you.

0:12:350:12:37

What do you think we're making today?

0:12:370:12:40

Ooh, I'm not sure. Let's take a look.

0:12:400:12:42

I'm light blue.

0:12:450:12:48

I am red!

0:12:520:12:54

I am purple.

0:13:030:13:05

I am pink.

0:13:060:13:08

I am black.

0:13:090:13:11

I'm yellow.

0:13:120:13:14

ALL: It's a rocking horse!

0:13:300:13:31

Well done, everybody! See you next time.

0:13:310:13:34

Now watch this.

0:13:340:13:35

(Hello. Are you ready...)

0:13:370:13:40

..for a BIG surprise!

0:13:400:13:43

These makers have no idea what their surprise will be

0:13:440:13:48

or what I'm going to do.

0:13:480:13:50

Hello, everyone!

0:13:500:13:51

THEY GASP

0:13:510:13:53

Haha!

0:13:530:13:54

-Hello!

-ALL: Hello!

0:13:540:13:56

Oh, it's great to meet you. I've got a big idea

0:13:560:14:00

but I need a team of five builders.

0:14:000:14:02

Where am I going to find a team of five builders?!

0:14:020:14:06

ALL: Me!

0:14:060:14:08

-What, you? Will you help me?

-ALL: Yeah!

0:14:080:14:11

Brilliant!

0:14:110:14:12

I think we should build a big cardboard city.

0:14:120:14:15

So, Maria, Oya, Joshua, Alena and Mackay,

0:14:150:14:20

let's make it!

0:14:200:14:21

CHEERING

0:14:210:14:23

Are you excited about making a cardboard city?

0:14:230:14:26

-ALL: Yeah!

-Fantastic. If we were going to make a city

0:14:260:14:30

what sort of thing should we have in it?

0:14:300:14:33

-Houses.

-That's good.

0:14:330:14:34

-Cars.

-Roads.

-Brilliant ideas.

0:14:340:14:37

Now, what sort of buildings should we make? Very small ones...

0:14:370:14:42

No! This kind of big.

0:14:420:14:44

-That tall?!

-Yeah.

0:14:440:14:45

They could be even taller!

0:14:450:14:47

They could be...THIS tall!

0:14:470:14:50

ALL: Yeah!

0:14:500:14:52

-Do you think we should do it?

-Yeah!

-Let's make it then.

0:14:520:14:56

Grab a paintbrush and let's go!

0:14:560:14:58

These are the decorations for our building.

0:15:010:15:04

We're painting the windows.

0:15:140:15:17

It's time to paint the clock.

0:15:210:15:24

-What colour should we paint it?

-Orange.

-Orange.

0:15:240:15:27

Good idea. Let's get painting.

0:15:270:15:30

Tubes...

0:15:340:15:36

..and boxes...

0:15:390:15:40

..and coloured paper make brilliant buildings.

0:15:420:15:46

It's great fun building our big city,

0:15:500:15:53

so why don't you have a go making your own small one at home?

0:15:530:15:57

Try making a brightly coloured cardboard city. Make it!

0:15:580:16:02

Play with it! Have fun with it!

0:16:020:16:04

HORNS BEEP

0:16:040:16:06

To make one, you will need some thick card,

0:16:060:16:08

boxes and tubes,

0:16:080:16:10

a glue stick, card circles, scissors,

0:16:100:16:13

paintbrushes, paint and a black pen.

0:16:130:16:16

Take a piece of thick card, and arrange your boxes, pots and tubes

0:16:170:16:23

however you like.

0:16:230:16:24

When you're happy with where they are, glue them down!

0:16:250:16:30

Next, take some card circles and carefully cut slits up to the middle

0:16:340:16:40

of each piece of card.

0:16:400:16:42

Bend the card around to make a cone.

0:16:440:16:48

Then tape it into place.

0:16:500:16:53

You can make as many cones as you like in the same way.

0:16:540:16:58

Place your cones onto the tubes to make pointy roofs!

0:16:590:17:05

Now paint your cardboard city using whatever colours you like.

0:17:060:17:11

When you've painted your buildings, you can add all sorts.

0:17:110:17:15

You could even paint a clock face...

0:17:150:17:18

..and draw on some details with a black pen.

0:17:190:17:23

Add windows, doors and whatever you want.

0:17:260:17:30

Your cardboard city is finished!

0:17:300:17:32

It's ready to play with and you can keep anything you like inside it.

0:17:320:17:36
