BEEPS HORN

0:00:460:00:47

Hello. Fantastic to see you. I'm out driving in the maker-mobile.

0:00:470:00:52

-And who knows what we're going to see today!

-Woah! Tocky here!

0:00:520:00:57

Mini Maker message!

0:00:570:00:59

-Hello. I'm Tiana.

-Hello, Tiana. Can I help you today?

0:00:590:01:03

-Yes, please, Mr Maker.

-I'm on my way!

0:01:030:01:07

This must be the place! Haha!

0:01:240:01:26

-Hello, Tiana! Now, how can I help you today?

-Can we paint a pattern?

0:01:290:01:34

A pattern! That's a great idea!

0:01:340:01:37

But what pattern shall we paint? Let's have a think.

0:01:370:01:40

-TAMBOURINE RATTLES

-Ooh!

0:01:400:01:42

TAMBOURINE RATTLES

0:01:420:01:43

-Ooh!

-SHE LAUGHS

0:01:430:01:45

HE PLAYS THE RECORDER

0:01:490:01:52

Ooh! An old cardboard tube!

0:01:570:02:00

HE PRETENDS TO PLAY THE TRUMPET

0:02:000:02:02

Haha! Ooh! Sorry about that! But this has just given me a great idea!

0:02:020:02:08

Let's try something! If you want to have fantastic fun,

0:02:090:02:14

try printing a pattern with string and a cardboard tube.

0:02:140:02:18

-It's brilliant!

-BOTH: Let's make it!

0:02:180:02:21

But first, we'll need somewhere to make it!

0:02:210:02:24

Ooh! Hahaha!

0:02:260:02:28

And we'll also need some things from the doodle drawers!

0:02:280:02:32

I'll be back soon! Haha!

0:02:320:02:34

Some coloured paper.

0:02:380:02:41

Some squirty paint and some gloopy PVA glue. Hehe!

0:02:460:02:51

Ah! We also need an old tray. Now, let's have some help to find that!

0:02:550:03:00

HOOTER HONKS

0:03:000:03:02

-Oh, hello!

-Scraps, what's that? A banana?

-Mmm! Mmm!

0:03:030:03:06

Oh, great! Thank you!

0:03:060:03:08

I'll have that for a snack later. But right now, I'm looking

0:03:080:03:11

-for an old tray. Can you help, please?

-Mm-hm!

-Brilliant.

0:03:110:03:15

CRASHING AND RUMMAGING

0:03:150:03:18

Oh, fantastic! Well done. Thank you, Scraps!

0:03:210:03:25

-OK!

-That's just what I was looking for, hehe.

0:03:250:03:29

And we also need some wiggly string!

0:03:340:03:37

Haha!

0:03:370:03:40

So, then, Tiana, let's print with a cardboard tube and some

0:03:400:03:45

wiggly string to make a wiggly pattern like this one here!

0:03:450:03:49

-So, are you ready?

-Yeah.

-Brilliant.

0:03:490:03:52

Are you ready? Fantastic!

0:03:520:03:55

Let's get making! Now, the first thing we're going to do,

0:03:550:03:58

is completely cover our cardboard tube in gloopy glue.

0:03:580:04:02

You can help me with this!

0:04:020:04:03

Here's some gloopy glue. Now can you help me cover this tube in glue?

0:04:030:04:08

Away you go.

0:04:080:04:09

I'll leave that there for the moment.

0:04:130:04:14

Because it's time to cut a long piece of string.

0:04:140:04:18

Now, we need to be careful when using scissors. Because they are...?

0:04:180:04:22

-Sharp!

-That's right!

0:04:220:04:24

That was loud! Haha!

0:04:240:04:25

Brilliant. Now we can stick our string to our tube

0:04:290:04:34

in a wiggly pattern. Just like this.

0:04:340:04:38

And then leave it to dry.

0:04:400:04:42

Let's put that to one side. Now, this can get a little bit messy,

0:04:460:04:51

so it's a good idea to put down some old paper, or some newspaper first.

0:04:510:04:55

And then we need to find some colourful paint

0:04:550:04:58

that comes in squeezey, squirty bottles like this.

0:04:580:05:02

Now, hold on to that for me, please. Give it a good squeeze,

0:05:020:05:06

so we have enough paint to cover the tray when we spread it all out.

0:05:060:05:10

There we go. That looks pretty good, I think, well done.

0:05:160:05:20

Now, it's time to bring in a clean piece of paper

0:05:200:05:24

and we're going to roll our wiggly card tube into the paint.

0:05:240:05:28

In it goes.

0:05:290:05:31

There we go. Right. And now we're going to roll it on to our paper.

0:05:350:05:39

Look at that!

0:05:430:05:44

-Do you like that?

-Yeah.

0:05:440:05:46

Let's do it again then. Right, let's get some more paint.

0:05:460:05:49

Here it goes.

0:05:550:05:56

Hoho! And there it is!

0:06:000:06:02

Wonderful wiggliness! So, did you enjoy that, Tiana?

0:06:020:06:05

-Yes, Mr Maker.

-Brilliant! And if you enjoyed that,

0:06:050:06:09

there are lots of other ideas you could try too.

0:06:090:06:11

You could use two different colours.

0:06:110:06:15

Or why not try using glittery paint to make a zig-zag pattern.

0:06:150:06:20

Printing a wiggly string pattern is fantastic fun! We made it, Tiana!

0:06:200:06:26

And now, your home is where the art is! High-five!

0:06:260:06:29

Woah! Haha! Good one!

0:06:290:06:32

What a fantastic wiggly string pattern! Bye, Tiana!

0:06:320:06:36

-HE SIGHS

-Hehe! It's brilliant being out and about in the maker-mobile.

0:06:370:06:41

-There's always so much to see and do!

-GIGGLING AND SQUEAKING

0:06:410:06:46

-What's that noise?

-SQUEAKING

0:06:460:06:49

-GIGGLING

-Oh, who could it be?

0:06:490:06:51

ALL: Weeeeee!

0:06:510:06:56

ALL: I am a shape.

0:06:580:07:00

I am a shape.

0:07:030:07:05

I am a circle.

0:07:080:07:10

I am a triangle.

0:07:130:07:16

I am a square.

0:07:180:07:20

I am a rectangle.

0:07:230:07:25

I am a shape.

0:07:320:07:34

I am a shape.

0:07:370:07:39

I am a shape.

0:07:420:07:43

I am a shape.

0:07:470:07:48

I am a square!

0:07:550:07:57

What are the squares making today?

0:08:000:08:02

Can you guess?

0:08:050:08:07

Any ideas yet?

0:08:100:08:11

It's a house!

0:08:160:08:18

Well done, Shapes. It's time to get back in the doodle drawers!

0:08:190:08:23

THEY WHOOP AND GIGGLE

0:08:230:08:27

Hehehe!

0:08:270:08:29

# You can see how happy I feel

0:08:320:08:34

# When I'm driving in my maker, maker, maker, maker-mobile. # Haha!

0:08:340:08:39

Hey! Minute Make time!

0:08:390:08:41

Hey, it's Minute Make time! I'm on my way!

0:08:410:08:46

Here we are!

0:08:570:09:00

Whoa! It's minute-make time, everyone.

0:09:070:09:10

CHEERING

0:09:100:09:12

-BELL RINGS

-Letter for Mr Maker.

0:09:120:09:14

Oh, thank you, Mr Postman. I wonder what this could be?

0:09:140:09:18

Oh, look! It's an envelope card from my friend Robin.

0:09:180:09:23

It's brilliant.

0:09:230:09:25

To make one of these in a minute, you will need -

0:09:250:09:29

of course, an envelope,

0:09:290:09:31

a roll of sticky tape and a pen.

0:09:310:09:35

Now, do you think it's possible to make one of these

0:09:350:09:38

envelope cards in just one minute?

0:09:380:09:41

ALL: No way!

0:09:410:09:43

I think I can. I'm going to have to be very quick, but don't worry,

0:09:430:09:48

I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

0:09:480:09:51

-ALL: Yeah!

-Are you ready?

0:09:510:09:53

Good. Let's make it in a minute.

0:09:530:09:56

-ALL: Three, two, one!

-Start the clock.

0:09:560:10:00

We're going to get our envelope and fold it in half,

0:10:000:10:04

then fold it in half the other way, as well, like this.

0:10:040:10:08

There we go. Fold it down there and if we open it up,

0:10:080:10:12

we're going to pinch this front part here, like that.

0:10:120:10:16

Give it a little pinch and if we fold it over,

0:10:160:10:21

that should give us a beak. It does! Brilliant!

0:10:210:10:25

Get our sticky tape roll, put that in the middle.

0:10:250:10:28

This will give us a nice circle all the way round.

0:10:280:10:31

This will be the body of our robin.

0:10:310:10:34

There we go. All the way round. Let's draw on some feathers,

0:10:340:10:38

on the top of the head and on the side there as well.

0:10:380:10:43

Let's give him another wing here.

0:10:430:10:45

There we go. Some feet.

0:10:450:10:47

There we go. And, of course, the rest of his beak.

0:10:480:10:52

Am I going to do it?! And his eyes, as well.

0:10:520:10:56

Just about. And I've made an envelope card.

0:10:560:11:00

CHEERING

0:11:000:11:02

Phew! I made it. If you've got more than a minute,

0:11:030:11:06

you could colour it in. There are other ideas you could try too.

0:11:060:11:11

How about this one? A lovely penguin envelope card.

0:11:110:11:16

Or how about an owl envelope card? It's a real hoot!

0:11:160:11:21

Or you could try this peacock with lots of feathers.

0:11:210:11:24

-Doesn't he look fabulous?

-PEACOCK SQUAWKS

0:11:240:11:27

Envelope cards - why don't you have a go?

0:11:270:11:30

Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:11:300:11:32

Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

0:11:320:11:36

Fold an envelope in half and back on itself.

0:11:360:11:39

Pinch and fold a nose in the flap, like this.

0:11:430:11:47

Draw a circle for the body.

0:11:490:11:52

Add details like wings and a beak,

0:11:520:11:55

and your envelope card is finished.

0:11:550:11:58

Why don't you try and make one in a minute? Got to go, everyone.

0:12:010:12:05

-Bye!

-ALL: Bye!

0:12:050:12:07

Now, where to next?

0:12:120:12:14

Hello, Mr Maker.

0:12:140:12:18

Oh, nice to see you.

0:12:180:12:20

Can you guess what we're making today?

0:12:200:12:23

What are they going to make?

0:12:230:12:25

I am black.

0:12:280:12:29

I am green.

0:12:380:12:40

I'm yellow.

0:12:410:12:43

I am orange.

0:12:440:12:46

I am pink.

0:13:100:13:12

-It's a cat!

-Well done, everybody. See you next time.

0:13:140:13:18

Now watch this.

0:13:180:13:20

Hello. Are you ready...

0:13:200:13:22

for a big surprise? Ha-ha!

0:13:220:13:25

These mini makers have no idea I'm visiting,

0:13:270:13:30

or what we're going to make.

0:13:300:13:33

-Hello!

-CHILDREN: Mr Maker!

0:13:330:13:35

-How are you? Are you OK?

-Yes!

0:13:350:13:39

It's great to meet you. Do you like going to the funfair?

0:13:390:13:42

-Yes.

-Me too!

0:13:420:13:46

Ooh! Ha-ha! Roll up, roll up. Hee-hee!

0:13:460:13:50

I've got a big idea.

0:13:500:13:52

I think we can have all the fun of the fair,

0:13:520:13:55

if we make a big coconut shy. Will you help me?

0:13:550:13:59

-ALL: Yeah!

-Fantastic!

0:13:590:14:02

Ooh! Ha-ha-ha! Hmm.

0:14:020:14:04

So, Matthew, Eleanor, Lauren, Andy and Alex,

0:14:040:14:08

let's make it.

0:14:080:14:09

We're going to make a coconut shy. Coconut shies are great fun.

0:14:090:14:14

You win a prize if you throw a ball and it knocks a coconut off a pole.

0:14:140:14:19

Let's start by making our coconut. What does one look like?

0:14:190:14:23

Brown and it's hard and it's heavy.

0:14:230:14:26

What could we make our coconut out of?

0:14:260:14:29

You could put tissue paper, glue it together and then get one of them,

0:14:290:14:34

wrap it around there and then you can make a coconut like that.

0:14:340:14:38

Great! Now we know how to make our coconuts,

0:14:380:14:41

we also need to make somewhere to put them, so come on,

0:14:410:14:45

let's go and make it. Come on. Follow me. This way.

0:14:450:14:48

We're making the roof of the coconut shy.

0:14:480:14:51

We're making the back of the coconut shy.

0:14:560:15:00

-Well done! Right, are we finished?

-CHILDREN: Yeah.

0:15:010:15:05

Perfect.

0:15:050:15:06

Our coconuts are going on these tubes.

0:15:060:15:09

GIGGLING

0:15:090:15:13

-Well done. How's our coconut coming along?

-Well...

0:15:170:15:20

-Done.

-Brilliant. A coconut. Well done.

0:15:200:15:25

-Up a bit that way.

-Up a bit. What about that?

-Yeah!

0:15:250:15:29

Thanks for your help.

0:15:290:15:32

We're having great fun making our big coconut shy.

0:15:320:15:35

Why don't you try making a small one to play with at home.

0:15:350:15:39

Try making a small coconut shy with its own furry coconut friends.

0:15:400:15:46

Make it, play with it, have fun with it.

0:15:460:15:50

To make it, you will need a cardboard lid, cardboard tubes,

0:15:500:15:54

a pen and pencil, a ball of modelling clay,

0:15:540:15:57

scissors, paints and brushes,

0:15:570:15:59

cake cases, glue, googly eyes, a piece of fun fur,

0:15:590:16:04

and polystyrene eggs, which you can get from an arts and craft shop.

0:16:040:16:09

Take a cardboard lid and the three cardboard tubes.

0:16:090:16:14

It looks good if they're all different lengths.

0:16:140:16:17

Next, draw circles around the tubes on top of your cardboard lid,

0:16:170:16:22

like this.

0:16:220:16:23

Put a piece of modelling clay under the lid,

0:16:250:16:28

and push a hole through each circle with a pencil.

0:16:280:16:31

Then carefully cut out all the holes.

0:16:310:16:35

Now paint the lid any colour you like.

0:16:400:16:43

And leave it to dry.

0:16:450:16:47

Paint the tubes a different colour and leave them to dry.

0:16:480:16:52

Push the tubes inside the holes on top of your lid.

0:16:560:17:00

And glue the cake cases to the top of the tubes.

0:17:060:17:10

Next, take a polystyrene egg and cover it in gloopy glue.

0:17:160:17:21

Now wrap your egg in fun fur and leave it to dry.

0:17:250:17:30

Do the same for the other eggs.

0:17:350:17:37

Stick googly eyes onto each egg and your coconuts

0:17:380:17:42

are ready to play with.

0:17:420:17:44

Pop each one into a cake case,

0:17:440:17:46

then all you need is a ball to throw at them. Ouch!

0:17:460:17:50

Hee-hee! What a cute little coconut shy.

0:17:510:17:55

I wonder how our big one is coming along? Hello, everyone.

0:17:550:17:59

What are we making? Ooh, a fence.

0:17:590:18:03

Fantastic!

0:18:030:18:05

Well done!

0:18:110:18:13

Nearly finished. There we go. Well done, everyone.

0:18:130:18:17

We made it! Yay!

0:18:170:18:22

Three, two, one - throw!

0:18:260:18:29

Mr Maker, time to go.

0:18:350:18:38

Oh, that's it for now. My making time's over,

0:18:380:18:41

but yours is just beginning.

0:18:410:18:44

It's time to put the maker-mobile back in its box.

0:18:440:18:47

# La, la, la, la Mr Maker

0:18:520:18:54
